Beef-a-roo is a great place to visit at any time and I would choose to go there every night if it was free. I'm vegetarian but I would go there just to get a shake. A recommendation is to get the cheese fries... They are exploding with flavor and is soooooo creamy and delicious. Service there is amazing too! Beef-a-roo is a great place to get food at even if you are just taking a drive and happen to drive past it. Awesome place! Went here this weekend while visiting friends in Rockford. They are a "fast food" restaurant but with a family atmosphere. I ordered a Burger, fries and a Chocolate Chip Mint shake. Wow. Burger was juicy and on a fresh bun with fresh vegetables on it. The fries were the thin crisp ones that are really good. The shake was made to order with new ice cream. Not the type of ice cream you get with a MsDonalds shake whihc seems processed. This was like the ice cream you get out of your frig! When you are done iwth your meal there is a worker that comes around and offers you a fresh chocolate mint. :) Really great! If in Rockford you may want to check this place out. read more

But after being charged twice for 1 ordered and then told that couldn't of happened and there was nothing they could do about it, but give me the office number very unhappy. how can you NOT like beef-a-roo . if you don't you're probably a terrorist. everything on the menu is pretty damn good and this is the cream of the crop when it comes to fast food. you like chicken strips? BAM. this place has probably some of the best in town. you like roast beef sandwiches? this basically makes Arby's roast beef look like pig slop. if you're from out of town or have friends from out of town. One of the great things about visiting my wife's family is getting to go to Beef-A-Roo. I think I've been to every location now; this one being the last one. Unfortunately, it was the worst one I've been to. My beef sandwich was small, dried up, and shriveled. The place was dirty too, probably because we ate their just after a lunch rush. Beefaroo is really only an exciting place for Rockford natives. To anyone else, it's just a fast food joint. Granted, I was told that my husband (who is a Rockford native) had me order the wrong things, so maybe I haven't gotten the true experience. They supposedly have great cheese fries... But, I have to disagree. I thought they were the worst cheese fries I have ever had. Skinny soggy fries and sub par cheese sauce, that may not have actually been cheese... The chicken sandwich reminded me of McDonalds fish filet for some reason.. It had an odd taste. I love Beef-a-Roo. I miss it when I'm in Milwaukee, so I try to stop by on my trips back to Illinois. They have a nice variety of food, a lot of fresh food. Best of all real lettuce on their sandwiches, no ice berg lettuce here! I got the turkey pretzel club, which was amazing! A pretzel bun with deli cut turkey, a honey mustard sauce, lettuce and I think cream cheese. Of course the cheese fries are always tasty. read more

So I used to go to Rockford a lot when I was young & the name Beef-A-Roo always freaked me out cause I was a picky eater. Fast forward all the years I come to Rockford with my fiancé for a day of mountain biking at the new Atwood trails & told him that my friends from here would be mad at me if I don't take you to Beef-A-Roo even though I myself would be trying it for the first time as well lol. So now I'm kicking myself for all the years I missed out on this amazing restaurant!!! Sooooo good!!! I'm still a picky eater but I got the cheeseburger & cheese fries & I cannot tell you how good it was, it's like if Burger King & Steak 'n Shake combined burgers(drooling). The cheese fries were phenomenal & I was upset we had decided to share haha. My fiancé had the big beef & went out about how much better it was than Arby's but said that next time he's bringing Arby's sauce lol. Needless to say we've already discussed how we'd be driving the 2 hours to Rockford just to get Beef-A-Roo. Yummy yummy yummy! Also I forgot to mention how sweet they were to our 2 dogs in the car, they gave them treats & also a large water with 2 bowls. Definitely a super friendly atmosphere all around. read more

Beef-a-Roo is an excellent fast food place. The onion rings are the best I have ever tasted and their olive burger and bacon bleu burger are delicious. Highly recommended. It is more expensive than your typical fast food joint, but Beef-a-Roo is definitely not your typical fast food joint. It is MUCH better. read more
