Looked for something local while visiting a menu. The beef called me. I had the Cheesy Beef on garlic bread with hot peppers - forgot to ask for it to be dipped but didn't need it....the beef was tender, the cheese and garlic bread were complimentary to it and the peppers were probably the hottest I had on beef but I love spicy food so it was perfect for me. I absolutely loved the fresh cut fries! The staff were working hard. It was pretty busy in the drive thru and inside when I arrived. The restaurant was well kept - clean rest rooms as well. The inside vibe reminded me of Five Guys a bit, but this place had more swag :) I definitely will go back if I'm in the area. read more

First timer. Disappointed. I wish they stated the size of their Beef sandwich. Mini is Mini. Snack size 4" , 5 at best for $7. Portillos is bigger and better. Fresh cut fries- delicious. Shakes are good. Beef Shack Beef sandwich is same size as Portillos regular/small. Beef Shack's mini isn't half of the fullsize beef sandwich. Basically, you're comparing a Suburban to an Explore, for the same price. read more

Staff must enjoy working here because they are so pleasant! While I usually prefer unique spots to chains, this franchise is an excellent exception. Portillo's is a tourist trap ever since B-H bought it but BS feels more neighborly. There's special offers Tuesday=hot dog, Thursday=hamburger and Sunday=beef bundle. The cheesy garlic bread is so worth the artery clog (hey, everything in moderation). Limited healthy choices here (see menu). Got a vegan in tow? Head 7 miles east to Buona. read more

First time visit, we talked about going for a long time, just never made it. Looking at some of the yelp reviews the burger pictures looked really good, so that's what i decided on. I don't eat fries often but I love fresh cut fries, so I also got a large fry. My wife got the shack salad, which kinda sounded like a portillos chopped salad. It's really nice inside, very cute and bigger than I expected, they also have a drive through that i didn't know about. We did take out and while waiting for our food I watched the care that the employees took in packing and double checking the order accuracy, it wasn't all rush rush. I really appreciated that. The burger was really good, like really good, and had to be towards the top of fast food burgers, more like a burger restaurant burger than fast food. Well charred burger, great flavor, good toppings, and big! They have a great bun that really held up well. The fresh cut fries were good, not great, they definitely could have cooked longer and the large is a ridiculous size, more than enough to share. My wife liked her salad, could have used a bit more toppings, it had a lot of lettuce but she still enjoyed it. They have a lot of special days, for which we will be back for, the hot dogs look great and I can't wait to try them. Visited on a Friday night because I haven't been here in a while and we wanted to get something close. I've gone multiple times before to this location because it's super close to me, but I'm not a huge fan of their food so I don't go often. If I go here, I'll usually get their grilled cheese (I love that they use hamburger buns). I've also had their chicken sandwich and I remember it being good, but not amazing. This time, I tried their beef sandwich. I got the mini cheesy beef and it was good. Their fries are also good and comparable to Five Guys. The full size is huge and could probably be shared between three people. The employees are always friendly. I've never experienced bad service, but service might be slower during peak meal times. read more

Arriving at 12:15 on a weekday the line was out the front door. It moved decently fast. Two of us ordered mini beef sandwiches with fries and a drink. It took about ten minutes for our number to get called. Food arrived and it was good enough. Small sandwiches, but the small fries were bigger than expected. Beef is a bit bland but good. Okay - some things improve with age and this business is one of those things. On my return visit, the first in a few years, I had a cheesy beef, dipped, and it was great. The fries were good too. I appreciated the meat being cooked properly, and seasoned well. It's not my favorite seasoning mix bit it's still good, and plentiful (unlike another beef giant which has been doling out bland beef sandwiches as of late). Great crew working the place too. I was craving the cheesy beef that I had back in the days when Zippy's was around on Roselle Rd (near Valli Produce). After some research, I came upon Beef Shack and made my way there to try their Cheesy Beef. It did not disappoint. mMmMmmm. Cheesy Beef: It reminds me exactly like the Zippy's Cheesy Beef, melts in my mouth. Adding hot peppers would make the sandwich perfect. :) Fries: The fries were freshly cooked as well and tasted soo good. It was the perfect crunch on the outside, soft + warm in the inside and seasoned just right. Food is generally good and prices about the same as other shops. The biggest issue is that the Drive Thru almost never gets the order correct. Items forgotten or food not prepared as ordered. Very frustrating when so many other options available. read more

My wife and I stopped in there Thursday night for dinner. We got the regular size garlic cheesy beef and cheese fries. The beef was good but seemed like a little short on the amount of beef. Fries were nice and crisp unlike most of the time there soggy. (So many times beef sandwiches just fall apart.) The fries are fresh cut and nice and crispy. The beefs come in 4 inch and 8 inch sizes. The 4 inch plus fries and a drink were plenty to satisfy me. Went through drive-thru @ 7:30 on Thursday night. After ordering, waited at least 10 minutes....yes I want it fresh, but that seemed extreme since there was no one ahead of me and no one inside ordering. Ordered a mini cheesy beef and fries with cheese sauce....$12! I know the prices on everything are up but I had no idea a MINI was LITERALLY HALF a full sandwich....I would've got the full sandwich for $3 more! Rip-off. This was my third trip here. Twice for beef and once for hot dogs. This time I was really surprised by the poorly constructed beef sandwich and made me feel as though I was ripped off. They only cut about 2/3 of the bread open and left a large chunk of the ends untouched. This leaves a far smaller section of the roll to fill with beef and peppers. They barely put any beef in there even with that. It seemed like they wanted to leave space for the giardiniera, which is wrong. The beef is good and juicy and the peppers are tasty too, but I dont like the type of bread they use. It is too soft and mushy and does not absorb the gravy very well. I like a less dense, crusty, French bread with that chewy bite to it. The fries are good at first, but soon after the first few bites they became an ultra greasy mess where you see and taste the oil in every bite, and that is not good. The oil tastes strange. They are seasoned well and have a rustic potato quality to them. And they give you a big order. That helped fill me up as the sandwich left me unsatisfied. I would rather have a beefier sandwich and less fries. The diet coke (at least I think it was diet coke) tasted a little off too. Kind of like the settings are off a bit in the fountain. The service was fast, and they wrap the sandwich well for the road. I just wish the sandwich was not so disappointing due to its construction and quality control, which takes away from its overall value. Other places in the area give you a big sandwich, with lots of beef, but flavor is not that good. This place is the opposite. read more

Tried this restaurant for first time thru Grub Hub. My bf loved his cheesy beef dipped on garlic bread. Me? Not so much. I don't trust Italian sausage because I am always disappointed. Beef Shack had Absolutely delicious & they were fresh cut fries, not frozen! Hot Dogs were made correctly by our standards. The service was great. I guess the sandwich was good but I never felt smaller. I am a customer and i belong to their "club" for 3 years now. I went in for my birthday, ordered a sandwich which as it so happens I got the wrong one. I asked for garlic bread and got a cheesy beef. I also asked about my birthday treat. No biggie, it's just a cup of frozen ice cream they pass off as a shake. The person in charge went through the computer and said I had points from recent visits but no birthday treat available. I told her I got one last year and believe it or not I have a birthday every year! after pulling teeth, she allowed my shake. They must be under new management and are pinching pennies.
