Two foot long grilled dogs ,chicken Caesar sandwich

We stopped in after kayaking with Metacomet tours and what a perfect day . Staff were extremely friendly , it is carry out with tables at a bar area or outdoors .Bar area has some free games to play . We chose outdoors to sit by the water . They sell beer ,wine and seltzers . The food was great and not over priced . We had two footlong dogs with onions , the bread is toasted to perfection ! Chicken Caesar sandwich ,a special that day was AMAZING ! Long Island drink tasted just like the drink but the bahama mama was our fav . Very refreshing . If you want a great day trip , link up with Metacomet tours and kayak down the river , then top it off with great food and drinks at Barts !

After my last visit, I vowed to never return. However, article in paper mentioned new ownership. So. .. Glad I came back. New owners took over in the spring, and made it a fun place again. Brought back the old menu and more. I had two foot-long dogs, one w brown mustard and kraut, one w chili. Both were delicious, served on New England style buns that were grilled on the sides. Two quibbles for me. First, a bit pricey; second, they need to do something about the ubiquitous flies that are rampant in the eating area. But, hey, I guess the flies have to make a living, too. 4 stars

Such a cute place in Windsor! Stopped for an ice cream cone. My mom had a root beer float.

Went to Bart's to get a latte and I gasped when she told me my total was $9.06. Coffee and syrups aren't made in house so I'm not sure why the high price. Avocado Burger was great.

    Bart's Famous Dog

My first adult job was in Windsor Locks. I wasn't from the area, and being the new guy, I didn't have much of a say in group lunch spots. Bart's was in rotation for dogs, burgers, fries, etc. Until this week, I hadn't been to Bart's for over 20 years. Since I was in the area, I decided to drop in. I quickly noticed that the menus referred to "New Bart's". Since I hadn't been in over 20 years, the changeover could have been at any point. I asked. The ownership change was "about a month ago". I missed the old team by a month. How crazy is that? Given the ownership change, I'm not sure how accurate the 3 Star Rating is for New Bart's, but it is what it is. I ordered a classic -- Bart's Famous Dog with chili, relish, peppers, ketchup, mustard and Mayo. It's an eye catching dog. The grilled reddish dog extends from both sides of the bun. There are strips of white and yellow. Dashes of red and green. Brown chili. I'm sure it sounds like a mess, but the sweet, sour and salty flavors were well balanced. The dog, the brand of which I did not recognize, was cooked through and medium dense. The bun was pretty good. I tried to isolate the chili sauce to see if it was good. It didn't really pop for me, but it worked fine with the other ingredients. Bart's also has sandwiches, some seafood, chicken nuggets and fried rice. They have inside seating in an old school, no frills dining room. You can also get takeout or order delivery. This was a nice trip down memory lane. 4 Stars

Cute location, very authentic roadside standish... however the best thing was the fries. The hot dogs we served in New England style rolls - but not toasted!! Whaaaat. The Beanery is only open for breakfast - which was a disappointment. And the dogs were... eeeh If you are really craving some fries and need an excuse - this will work. But overall, not that clean of a location and leaves alot to be desired.

Classic drive in style may be gone the food is still here. Ordered a cheeseburger, burger, BLT, Slaw Dog which is a foot long and fries. The food is heavy on taste customization and plenty of choices from cheese to bread and toppings. Ice cream abs milkshakes and bakery on premises too! Plenty of seating and feel of country kitchen decor.

Great vibe inside to sit down. I really like the speciality hot dogs - first time here. All halal menu. Looks like new management group - I'll plan to be back!

Apparently iced tea is a no no to order in the fall or winter in small town Connecticut. I chose their 14oz prime ribeye for what seemed to be a good price of only $40. It comes with the mixed veggies (Broccoli. Carrots. Squash) and potato of the day (homemade mashed potatoes). The steak was a bit chewy and did not seem to be a typical prime cut of beef I am used to getting back in Texas. Maybe prime beef in Connecticut isn't as good quality, who knows. The homemade bread that comes out before the dinner is good but hard. It's also very garlicky. Service was a bit awkward. Our waitress came by halfway through and said she was checking to make sure we were well taken care of...but my tea was almost empty and she just walked off and didn't say she'd refill it. I eventually had to flag her down a few mins later to ask for a refill. At fancy restaurants, they just fill it without you asking. She also messed up my colleagues meal. He asked for no squash and the chef seemed to put extra squash on his plate. She should have remembered that he didn't want squash. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I just expected more from a fancy restaurant. You pay a little more for better food and better service, but we didn't get that here.

For started I got the firecracker shrimp , which had a sweet and tangy sauce which was delicious highly recommend ( I personally didn't think it was spicy but had great flavour ) For my entree I got the California chicken sandwich which was really good . Highly recommend and I got the side of truffle fries which had just the right amount of truffle ( since I personally don't like to much truffle ) Plenty of flavour . Situated in The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, Burtons Grill offers a bar, a spacious dining room, a seasonal patio, and a space suited for large groups. My friends wanted to take me out for my birthday and asked where I'd like to go. I chose this spot because I'd heard so many good things about it. Since the weather was pleasant in October, we decided to sit outside. For starters, we shared a rustic bread roll served with pesto, herb, and garlic butter, and olive tapenade. In my opinion, the olive tapenade really stole the show, giving the bread a bold flavor. The bread itself was soft, warm, and utterly delicious. We also tried the signature wings coated in maple sriracha and the Memphis dry rub wings. Although I couldn't distinctly taste the maple or sriracha, the wings were still packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was rich with spinach, artichoke hearts, parmesan, tomato-jalapeño relish, and served with tortilla chips. It was genuinely tasty. For my main course, I went with the Steak Frites, featuring a charred flatiron steak served with béarnaise sauce and Parmesan-truffle fries. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The truffle fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the truffle flavor really made them stand out. It was a simple yet satisfying dish. My friends chose the crispy fish sandwich, comprising fried haddock, pickled red onions, pickles, tartar sauce, all nestled in a brioche bun with a side of French fries. Another friend ordered the general Tso bowl, which included braised chicken glazed with general Tso sauce, along with charred broccoli, a rice-and-quinoa blend, julienned vegetables, toasted almonds, scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and ginger aioli. Both of them said their meals were fantastic. Our server was friendly, lively, and attentive throughout the meal. I definitely plan on returning to try more items from the menu.

Indoor (two sides, one w bar) and outdoor seating (in nice weather). So, I tried the cheeseburger with a side of fries. Advertised as 8 ozs. It was very good, not great. Definitely a patty, and also did not have that charbroiled taste. Bun was substantial, and held the cb well. Fries were very good. For me, the price point was slightly high, more in line with what a pub might charge. Lots of choices on the menu, and some interesting breakfast options. I also liked the happy hour listings. Service very good. So, overall, I am a fan. 4 stars

The food was unacceptable across the board. The salmon made some guests sick. The steak was overcooked, served with gravy no one asked for, and came out room temperature. The stuffing tasted spoiled and was served over what seemed like old shrimp. The vegan pasta was so bad it made that guest nauseous. Several people who ordered prime rib had to send it back just to be further cooked, and even the dessert tasted outdated. It was honestly embarrassing. Trying to address this made things worse. I called and spoke with Chris, the manager, who was rude, condescending, and repeatedly talked over me. Instead of listening, he kept insisting how "excellent" the food was. He was also irritated that I called from a blocked number, even after I explained I had been trying to reach the restaurant since the previous Sunday with no answer and no returned calls. I have never been treated with that level of disrespect by a restaurant, especially after such a poor experience. Between the food and the way this was handled, I would not recommend Nutmeg Restaurant for any event or special occasion. The owner called me back, and the audacity of him to block his number, took no accountability, and to be extremely rude again was unbelievable. He told me to report it to the health department, and I absolutely will be doing that and taking this as far as I can. If you look at the other reviews, the food was bad for other people too, so I'm left wondering if the better reviewers paid.
