I think it is relatively new (change from another restaurant in the same location)? Plenty of parking, both in front & in the back of the building. There is an outside patio that will be nice to use when the weather is a little warmer. Inside, the space is good sized, with both booths & tables. Our server was very nice, friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. Stronger coffee (which I prefer). My husband & I both had omelettes. The omelettes are made with 3 eggs & come with toast & potatoes. A friend recently mentioned Oscar's. He and the Mrs. stopped in for lunch. First of all, kudos to Oscar's for being open 7 days / wk, for B, L, and D. Ample parking. Indoor (two sides, one w bar) and outdoor seating (in nice weather). So, I tried the cheeseburger with a side of fries. Advertised as 8 ozs. It was very good, not great. Definitely a patty, and also did not have that charbroiled taste. Bun was substantial, and held the cb well. Fries were very good. For me, the price point was slightly high, more in line with what a pub might charge. Lots of choices on the menu, and some interesting breakfast options. I also liked the happy hour listings. We were alone in the room as our small book club enjoyed some snacks and drinks during happy hour. Our attentive waitress checked on us often as we indulged on mozzarella sticks, cheesy potato skins and Philadelphia egg rolls. All were yummy and priced at $6 each. I had lunch here after an appointment nearby. I arrived at 2pm, and breakfast was no longer available. I was handed two menus, lunch and dinner. I chose a boom boom pizza, but asked my server to hold the three cheeses that usually come on the pizza. The three cheeses were on the pizza. I only wanted chicken, broccoli and boom boom sauce( garlic spicy sauce) on the pizza - no cheese. I did try the pizza-not to my liking. The salad was good, luckily. Peanut butter was peanut butter chips and the bacon was little tore up pockets of not so crispy bacon scattered throughout. It was a valiant attempt, and I give them kudos for trying. We did takeout from Oscar's and I'll start by saying I'm not a big takeout fan because food is usually cold and soggy. NOT the case here! OMG our food was hot, my onion rings crispy as I've ever had and everything was delicious! I'm just upset it took me this long to try them! We started with potato skins (great!), I had chicken tenders (yummy and tender, AND crispy!) and she had the corned beef Reuben & fries (loved it). Chicken tenders came with 2 sides we had onion rings (literally best I've had around here and recently for anywhere - big and crispy) and mashed potatoes which were fresh made with red skins. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to eat there and try different items. First and foremost, the bread that came out was warm and tasty. The butter was even soft, making it easy to spread. Perfect asking of crunch and softness. We went for happy hour, so $5.95 for two steak egg rolls. They were crispy, and the dipping sauce was delicious! But it was definitely spicy, so if you can't handle the heat, avoid it. I ordered the grilled avocado salad with steak. Overall was okay, not spectacular for $20. The steak had great flavor and was cooked well. It would have been better with croutons. Also ordered a crispy chicken wrap, with the boom boom sauce. It was cooked well, but had minimal boom boom sauce. I don't usually eat bread but that stuff tasted great! I had the crab cakes first...they were huge! A little dry but they were homemade and great. Then I had the three filet medallion meal! Wow! I asked for medium and they were actually medium! They were quite tasty! I decided to end up with the Old Fashioned Apple Dumpling with chocolate ice cream! Whollee Cow! Excellent, again home made and presentation was awesome! My waiter was excellent and was prompt in checking on me and refilling my drink! Recommend giving this place a try! HORRIBLE! I ordered a Ruben with corned beef and it was the WORST sandwich I've ever had! At EACH bite, I had to spit out the meat because it was so fatty and loaded with grizzle, that it was impossible to chew! I literally could NOT cut it with a knife. The family and I stopped into Oscar's for Friday night dinner, we went early as we have younger children. We were greeted when we arrived and seated, there were only 2 other parties in at the time. Our server was very attentive throughout our meal, they had buy one get one 50% off on cocktails. My wife had a margarita which she enjoyed but was a little sweet, I had a Paloma which was great, could have done with a little more tequila. For dinner we got two kids meals, the Mac and cheese and pasta with butter, both came with fries and were big enough portions for our 2 and 5 year old. My wife and I got the mozzarella sticks as an app and they were excellent! Great ratio of breading to cheese, the breading had a good flavor to it and they were cooked very well! Excellent mozz! For dinner my wife had the chicken and broccoli pasta which she really enjoyed it came with garlic bread (my son ate this so not much feedback but he scoffed it down) I had the Ruben sandwich which was excellent, the fries were really good and so were the onion rings! Everything came out quickly and well cooked! Staff were very friendly and attentive, even those not serving us! Met a friend at Oscar's. She had a huger breakfast platter and seemed to enjoy it. I had a Rueben sandwich that was so fatty I only took a few bites. Service was overly attentive and checked on us every 5 minutes. Not a lot of ambiance and food was really mediocre. Not sure I would go back which is too bad because I like supporting locally owned business. My recommendation: the owners need to decide what this place is; have a more limited menu but so it well. This is the old Joe's Pizza location. Saw an ad for Oscar's Happy Hour so tried it. 7 days a week from 2-6! first of all, that is unheard of. Excellent beer specials for $4, good selection of specialty cocktails for $5! wasn't expecting a lot for happy hour food apps but they were excellent! Let's start with the ambiance. Oscar's does not know exactly what it wants to be. The booths are black and chairs are nice formal chairs, the tables have linen tablecloths. Then the decor is a mixture of pictures you would find at an Italian restaurant and pictures celebrating America. The menu resembles a diner menu, a hodge podge of different foods. When we were there, the bar area was crowded, the restaurant area was not. I started with a Carmel Appletini and it was quite good. We ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, my husband had the Chicken Parm Roll (chicken parm on a roll), I had the Oscar's Seafood (tilapia topped with shrimp and Parmesan cream sauce), and my son ordered the kid's pasta with marinara sauce. The kids pasta came with penne but I saw that they had spaghetti on the menu and asked if he could have that instead of the penne. The waiter was not sure and said he would check. When I was ordering my seafood, it came with two sides and I asked if the Mac and cheese was made in house. The very sweet waiter said no. I asked if it was Kraft or something like that. He said he didn't know the origin but knew it wasn't made in house. I was intrigued and ordered it anyway. After that, I expected that the mozzarella sticks would be frozen from a bag. I was pleasantly surprised, they were quite tasty, a good crunchy breading with melty mozzarella. After that, it went down hill. Let's start with my son's pasta and sauce. They weren't able to substitute spaghetti (which the waiter never came back and told us....but wasn't a huge deal). However, the pasta came out slathered with butter. I told the waiter that we had ordered with marinara sauce and he apologized, ran to the kitchen and got a side of marinara. My son is not a huge butter fan and he did his best to eat it but really didn't like it because of the butter. My husband's sandwich was a frozen chicken patty with cheese and sauce on a Portuguese roll. He said it was "meh". My tilapia was very fishy and completely drowned in a thick, sausage gravy like sauce that didn't taste of Parmesan at all. The sauce covered up the fact that there was a itty bitty piece of fish under all the goop. My side of asparagus was about 5 small pieces, but at least it was seasoned and cooked well. The Mac and cheese.....well as my son put it, it looked like someone puked Mac and cheese into the bowl. It was both bland and nasty tasting at the same time (not sure how they accomplished that but they did). Basically inedible. I really wanted to like this place as most of the restaurants around here are chain restaurants, but I can't see us going back. read more
