We were alone in the room as our small book club enjoyed some snacks and drinks during happy hour. Our attentive waitress checked on us often as we indulged on mozzarella sticks, cheesy potato skins and Philadelphia egg rolls. All were yummy and priced at $6 each. I was excited to try a specialty drink of White Russian which was supposed to come with a cinnamon sugar rimmed glass. When it didn't I remained quiet and drank it anyway. A fun tasty place to hold book club

I had lunch here after an appointment nearby. I arrived at 2pm, and breakfast was no longer available. I was handed two menus, lunch and dinner. I chose a boom boom pizza, but asked my server to hold the three cheeses that usually come on the pizza. The three cheeses were on the pizza. I only wanted chicken, broccoli and boom boom sauce( garlic spicy sauce) on the pizza - no cheese. I did try the pizza-not to my liking. The salad was good, luckily. My lunch was paid for by another patron seated near my booth. Thanks to my secret admirer whomever you are.

Tried again, better but not quite there. Came again to give them another try. Felt like testing the kitchen a little, got a peanut butter, banana, and bacon pancake with a scoop of ice cream. Going full Elvis mode on the pancakes. Came out okay but not amazing. Bananas were fresh and needed to be more ripe. Peanut butter was peanut butter chips and the bacon was little tore up pockets of not so crispy bacon scattered throughout. It was a valiant attempt, and I give them kudos for trying. It was clear the chef never thought of this combo before, and didn't execute perfectly. But they did try, and the elements were there just not refined. Overall, a good breakfast spot for basic diner fare. Appreciate that they updated the explanation of the tower of cinnamon roll French toast. They still call it a tower though. They should take three small cinnamon rolls, make them into French toast, skewer them on a stand then drench them in maple syrup

We did takeout from Oscar's and I'll start by saying I'm not a big takeout fan because food is usually cold and soggy. NOT the case here! OMG our food was hot, my onion rings crispy as I've ever had and everything was delicious! I'm just upset it took me this long to try them! We started with potato skins (great!), I had chicken tenders (yummy and tender, AND crispy!) and she had the corned beef Reuben & fries (loved it). Chicken tenders came with 2 sides we had onion rings (literally best I've had around here and recently for anywhere - big and crispy) and mashed potatoes which were fresh made with red skins. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to eat there and try different items. But their potato skins and rings will be repeat performers! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars (it's all I got!) to Oscar's!!!!!

Amazing food. Good vibes. Great service! The staff is very friendly and attentive. I loved my pumpkin spice martini, bread they give out for dinner and the deep fried Oreos! 10/10 we also had a sampler platter for an appetizer that was so good!

First and foremost, the bread that came out was warm and tasty. The butter was even soft, making it easy to spread. Perfect asking of crunch and softness. We went for happy hour, so $5.95 for two steak egg rolls. They were crispy, and the dipping sauce was delicious! But it was definitely spicy, so if you can't handle the heat, avoid it. I ordered the grilled avocado salad with steak. Overall was okay, not spectacular for $20. The steak had great flavor and was cooked well. It would have been better with croutons. Also ordered a crispy chicken wrap, with the boom boom sauce. It was cooked well, but had minimal boom boom sauce. You can't beat the happy hour prices, but unfortunately the menu doesn't include meals, just a few select apps and drinks. We will definitely go back.

Love this place! The 7 days Happy Hour, 5$ Mango Chilli Crush. Do I need to say more? The food is great, staff are friendly and service is fast. Also love all the gluten free options including pancakes and waffles. The place is clean with family style ambiance. I liked the the day light streaming through the large windows. Our table is a little wobbly but it was great overall.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Burgers and fries were hot and juicy, very nice flavor. Wings were cooked well with just the right amount of heat. Service was fantastic in the bar area. Cool spot in town.

Very nice inside. Smelled very clean which to me is a plus! Our waitress , who happened to be the only waitress on duty was a 10/10. Food was plentiful. We got omelets that were stuffed to the hilt! They had some very interesting specials for a Saturday morning.

Old Fashioned Apple Dumpling with Chocolate Ice Cream

Yeah, driven by this place many times on my from Manchester to East Windsor and decided to try it out. They brought some bread out to snack on! Home made sourdough! I don't usually eat bread but that stuff tasted great! I had the crab cakes first...they were huge! A little dry but they were homemade and great. Then I had the three filet medallion meal! Wow! I asked for medium and they were actually medium! They were quite tasty! I decided to end up with the Old Fashioned Apple Dumpling with chocolate ice cream! Whollee Cow! Excellent, again home made and presentation was awesome! My waiter was excellent and was prompt in checking on me and refilling my drink! Recommend giving this place a try! Easy to miss, but definitely worth it.

Perfectly fine quick breakfast spot…read more Came here on the fly, looking for new breakfast spots and found this one on my feed. The parking situation is a little weird, there's some spots in front or by the side, but they are not really marked well. But there's a lot of spaces for the actual dining space. The inside is simple but clean, lots of seats for the space and a reasonable display for their pastries and donuts. The menu is simple and the options are low. It's very much designed to be a quick breakfast spot. I opted for one of their donuts and a latte, with a French toast platter. Food came out quickly, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was okay. The donut was large, cakey but freshly made. The strawberry frosting was a little heavy on the extract which gave a chemically taste to the frosting, but it wasn't off putting just noticeable. The French toast was slightly undercooked, but I do enjoy custardity bites so it was good enough. The eggs were also underdone, but I just ignored those. The turkey bacon was crisp and the home fries were seasoned very well. Unlike other home fries I have had, these ones actually had flavor. As a breakfast spot, it does well enough for the local crowd. When done properly, the food put out at this location can be good if not great. I'm fairly confident if I made them aware of my issues, they would resolve them without fail. If you need a quick breakfast and happen to be in east hartford near the police station, his place works for that quick meal. It isn't fancy, but it's basic food done right.

The Cosmic Omelet is a breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant that opened in Manchester,…read moreConnecticut in October 2003. It was founded by Tracy Devine. When she purchased the small restaurant space in Manchester, it was already an existing restaurant called "The Smoking Cafe". Just before the purchase, the Connecticut General Assembly had passed a smoking for restaurants, which was going to go into effect soon. Many of the regular customers were smokers, but Devine soon won them over with her menu of "out of this world" food. The new business was dubbed "The Cosmic Omelet" and by 2005, a beautiful cosmic-themed mural had been painted on the walls of the restaurant. Although the menu also features lunch items, it is the breakfast dishes that keep people coming back. Many of the dishes are named after and designed by staff or long standing customers. If you spot the word "cosmic" anywhere in the menu, it is code for "made with cream cheese". My family and I had brunch at the Cosmic Omelet over St. Patrick's Day weekend. I was first introduced to the place by one of my best friends who grew up in Manchester, and I've been coming back ever since. This was the first visit for my two sons. There was a little bit of a wait for a table, but there's plenty to do to pass the time. If customers follow the "yellow brick road" painted on the floor, it will lead you to a small arcade as well as a funky art gallery space. We all had a fun time exploring until our table was ready. They had a lot of delicious St. Patrick's Day themed specials during our visit. I had the "Sheep Go To Heaven" (shepherd's pie omelet w/ ground beef, corn, mashed potatoes, cheddar & Guinness gravy), my wife had the "Fiesta Omelet" (sausage, onions, peppers, cheddar, side of salsa & sour cream), our sons shared the "Sweet Cream (Green) Pancakes", and we also ordered sides of "Hashbrowns" and "Corned Beef Hash" for the table. As usual, everything was fantastic! The omelets were chock full of delicious ingredients, the pancakes were perfectly fluffy, and the home fries were out of this world! We plan on returning to the Cosmic Omelet again and again!

The look of the place is still a mix of quirky diner and casual neighborhood spot, but over the years they have expanded quite a bit into neighboring spaces. It is noticeably larger than it used to be many years ago, but it still feels like the same locally-owned, friendly, affordable, quirky, casual, bustling place with fun decor that it has always been. The food is certainly also a big reason people keep coming back. If you have never been, you will quickly notice that some of the omelets are creative and a little unusual. A few include things like cream cheese, which might sound odd at first but often works surprisingly well. Of course they also have plenty of classic breakfast options if you want something more traditional. In general the food has been consistently good. The place can get busy, especially during peak breakfast hours, which says a lot about how popular it still is with regulars. Once you are seated though, the service tends to move along quickly and the staff are friendly in that slightly quirky way that fits the personality of the place. Overall Cosmic Omelet is still one of the better breakfast spots in the area. Good food, lots of personality, and clearly a place that has built a strong following over the years. Although I have moved much further away since my 2009 review, I will still stop in when I am back in the area.

The restaurant is spotless clean, the staff are prompt and friendly, and the food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The owner takes a great deal of pride in the food that he serves, striving to make sure you're happy and full. This morning I had the Biscuits & Gravy special, and it was amazing. I'm usually very hesitant to order Biscuits & Gravy out anywhere because I have pretty high standards for that dish. Many restaurants use subpar or canned ingredients and just fail miserably at their attempt to make it properly. Since I've always had good meals here, I figured I would try it. Not only was I not disappointed, but I was rather surprised at the deliciousness of it. There was not one single flavor that overwhelmed another, after I swallowed the first bite was when the flavor really hit home. This dish was so good that I had to ask the owner if he used fresh ingredients and was informed that Mike The Owner makes everything from scratch. I told him this dish needs to be on the menu as a regular breakfast choice. (I'll be looking for it) I know that Mike is a new owner of this restaurant, and I have to say that he's done an outstanding job of turning this place into the best breakfast spot in town. With a beautifully updated interior and excellent food, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

Greasy spoon diner still learning the ropes…read more Angry egg is back open, under new ownership and with a revamped decor. Staff was polite but green. Nice but not overly friendly. Owner was working hard, doing prep items while the rest of the staff remained idle. Asked my server what most people order, and was told either the breakfast platter or the cali sammich. Decided on the sandwich, to get a good sense of how they worked. Food came out after a short wait. Took pics and dug in. Egg was cooked fine, bread lightly toasted, avocado was on the bottom of the sandwich. Also sandwich was very much an omelette in between two pieces of bread. There was also omission of two ingredients (peppers and bacon), the onions were cooked not caramelized, and there was a lot of mozzarella for a cali themed breakfast dish. A lot of what was not great is easy to contribute to confusion. Home fries with a sandwich limits a dish to a dine-in experience which isn't ideal for the grab and go diner. Sandwich composition dictates flavor intensity on bite, and presentation matters more for dine in than to go. Missing ingredients, that's a slip of the kitchen and the servers. It's how the restaurant reacts and pivot that determines how they will fare. The owner was receptive of feedback, and talked to his staff on each issue brought up. It seems like the owner is heavily invested in the success of his spot but is not quite ready to hand reins over to his staff. There will need to be that transition, there's just too many hats to wear as an owner to handle the busy work as well. For those looking for a nice spot to have some eggs n bacon, this spot works. It's not glamorous eats, but it's functional and prepped well enough. I will have to try them again once they figure out their rhythm, but right now they are okay.
