Need a better system of seating guest when it is super busy. One server told us when a table opens up to take a seat. And then another said that there are people waiting before us and to go wait at the bar. If it is gonna be that busy someone should be manning the doors or have the paging system. The selection of beer is fantastic. However, the selection of beer in a lot of places around Rochester is getting better and better. While this beer selection does stand out comparatively, the food does not. Overall the food was just okay. A highlight was the meatballs. A low light was the pizza. Nice outdoor patio seating, great for when the weather is nice. The pizzas are pretty good for what you get I would order those again, nice and crispy and well made. That being said the rest of it was pretty bad. The nachos, although provided more then enough tortilla chips had hardly any toppings, we added the pork to top it and there couldn't have been more than 4 ounces of meat on it, and not just meat it was lacking toppings in general, I know it had some cheese sauce, sour cream and bbq sauce but beyond that I don't even think I saw any other toppings. Service was terrible and that was the real kicker, the place was probably about half full, maybe a little more, but we had to constantly keep flagging down the server. Beer glasses constantly empty had to keep flagging him down to get a refill, saw him talking to what I assume was friends at other table and ignoring us because he never would come by. After sitting there again with empty beer glasses we decided enough was enough and flagged him down for check. I didn't even bother to check it I just handed it off and closed out so we could leave and stop sitting there at an empty table with no food or beer. Came here with some friends before kickball and had a flight, shared a pretzel and a pizza with one other person and had plenty of leftovers. The pretzel is indeed very large, but I found it to be a little too dry and wasn't really excited about the sauces it came with, just kept going back and forth between them hoping the beer would kick in and it would taste better, but it never really did. Once I tried the pizza, though, that pretzel was dead to me. The pizza was phenomenal. I think the one we had was the Popeye. Beer selection was good, obviously, haha. It was a nice mix between your standard stuff, that someone either new to the craft beer scene or comfortable hanging out on the fringes of it have heard of and enjoy, and some things that you'd only find in specialty places like this one. Not a ton of stuff here that you can't find easily at some of the other beer bars and stores around town, but considering it's kind of a chain and because they just have SO MANY drafts, I wasn't really expecting to find anything super rare. With so many lines to fill, I can imagine the cost of some of those hard-to-get kegs could be a bit crippling, and unless you've got a solid crowd of hardcore craft drinkers established that you can rely on to recognize a real gem when they see it, your efforts to acquire it may not be fully appreciated. This place is pretty new, so it still needs to establish itself. It also may have just been the timing when i went. Regardless, I may not have been stunned by the draft list, but I was still happy with it. Service must have been good, because nothing about it stands out except that she was nice. Excellent newer gastropub in college town with an impressive, if not into intimidating beer selection. I don't even look at the bottle list here. There are so many great selections on tap, that adding bottles to the mix just makes choosing that much harder. Anyway, atmosphere is loud, bordering on too loud...and you will need to speak to your companions even louder to hear each other, so it's a vicious cycle, but it's a fun joint with sports bar vibe and excellent food. Pizzas are very good, with a thick, yeasty, but not heavy crust, good ratio of sauce to cheese, and fresh toppings. Several preconfigured selections or make your own option available. Meatball appetizer is great as well, Plenty for two with a generous helping of meatballs, a big mound of ricotta cheese and toasted crostini bread for dipping. Sauce is like a diavalo, very spicy but not overblown. Don't be intimidated by the location. It's not all college kids...a good mix of students, parents, professor types and city dwellers males this an easy pick for a group dinner. Service is friendly and fairly efficient. Would go back for the drink selection and atmosphere but the menu selection and execution left a lot to be desired. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich which tasted like bottled BBQ sauce. Ordered with chips on the side, could have gotten the same thing at Wegmans. The mac and cheese bites appeared as though they were cooked on a grill too (only on one side). Also ordered the short rib sandwich which wasn't too bad, ordered it with the blue cheese potato salad. Interesting flavor (couldn't decide if it was good or bad) and the potatoes could have been mashed potatoes if it had been stirred a little longer. If you value your time or care about how you spend your time, go elsewhere for beer. The beer selection is great however the service needs an overhaul. It took forever for someone to come to our table to greet us, the bar was out of several beer choices and once we finally ordered it took exceptionally long to get our beers. Our waitress (who wasn't really our waitress but saw us looking for assistance) tried so hard I felt to save the poor experience we were having but at the end of the day it wasn't enough to repair what had already been done. Great place to try new beers, with 50 draft options and tons of bottles. My wife and I enjoyed the pizza we got, and their barbarian pretzel is great (and huge!). Other reviewers seem to have had issues with waiting, but it's important to keep in mind this place is brand new, and staff are probably still settling into their roles. I am confident that any kinks in the system will shake out soon. And in my experience, the bartenders are eager to talk about the beers being served, which I think is a positive thing for this type of place - but of course it takes a bit more time. Patio seating is available, which should be a great feature during the warmer months. I will definitely be back again soon. read more

Food is "meh" nothing special about it. Our pretzel was burned and they gave our pizza to someone else mistakenly on a day that had only two other tables in the restaurant. They gave us the other tables pizza while we wait but it wasn't what we didn't like it so didn't eat it. The only thing that was great was the beer and their selection. However, it was hella expensive for that small sip on the flights. Some were ridiculously $4-5 for that tiny glass. Rather go somewhere else. At least I tried this new place, probably not going back. Came here for lunch with my mother, been here before and enjoyed the food. We sat down, got out order in, but took about 10 minutes to get just drinks. My mom almost went to the bar for water. She heavily set them on the table and didn't say you're welcome as we said thank you, she just turned away. Drinks came out, and the goat cheese artichoke dip not too much later. Was very simple but delicious. It was a large boat with only 8 crostinis. We finished the crostinis and had half the dip left. We sat around for a little bit and got our pizza. She asked if we wanted more crostinis and we said yes. We finished the pizza and our drinks and sat around for another 8 minutes. We still never got our crostinis so we ate the dip with the pizza crust. Our crostini was finally brought out with nothing left to eat. Drinks were not refilled. As a server, my mom asked me "do you think she's really busy?" I said "given the fact she's leaning on the bar with her friends, no." We got out check and all she said was thank you. Second time here and the experience was worse than the first. We came to the bar at 5pm with about 10 people already seated. Two bartenders, one drops menus without much fanfare. 15 minutes later after some minor milling around the back of the bar one of them finally asks what we would like. I am sitting there looking at them and it took that long just to get one of theirs attention. $25 plus tip for two beers and a sandwich and she forgets my wife's pretzel. The place is too loud as it only takes one patron to be loud and you can't hear the person sitting next to you. I ordered a 90 minute Dogfishead and it came in a small glass. Really? If i still lived in Rochester, I would be here all the time. An insane amount of amazing craft beers and delicious food, whats not to love. I love trying new beers, so I always have a hard time picking out what I want in a flight. The employees seem fairly knowledgeable when I've asked for opinions. Their selection of draft beers is always changing, but you can usually find a bunch of local ones plus some of the bigger named craft breweries, and even some I've never heard of. I've only eaten here once, and I absolutely loved it. I went with a small group and we split the giant pretzel and the meatballs. Both were ridiculously good. The pretzel was seriously huge, and the beer mustard and beer cheese were great dips with tons of flavor. The meatballs were also very good and came with ricotta and nice crispy bread. I would definitely get both of these again. One of the best parts of the Beer Market is the atmosphere. There's tons beer memorabilia all over and plenty of TVs. And one of the best parts, when its nice out they open all the walls up so the the restaurant is wide open, its really awesome. Its a great spot to hang out.
