    $1 Oysters
    Sally T.

Come for the happy hour if you love oysters! $1! Such a steal. We had a great experience with friendly, attentive service. While the regular menu is on the pricier side, it's absolutely worth stopping by for their daily happy hour specials. The location is another bonus, it's right by the beach, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing stroll along the water after your meal.

The view is amazing! I came here with my husband for dinner. They had a good selection of drinks and food. There is plenty of outdoor settings along with indoor. Their oysters were fresh! Definitely whatever sauce they use, it was good. I did eat their wasabi like paste with it and it was very strong so be careful! It was beautifully plated and am very thankful for the staff on providing such an amazing experience as well as quick delivery!

My friend and I stopped in to try happy or buzzy hour since they offer $1 oysters. On top of that they were kumiai, so I ordered a half dozen. They are served up deliciously with mignonette and horseradish! We also ordered the octopus ceviche that reminded me of a dish I had in Lisbon. My friend had the Surfliner Spritz, refreshing and crisp! And I couldn't resist the house Sauvignon Blanc for $6. I'd return to try more of the menu. The service was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is in a great location above Prospect with pleasing view and modern decor! HH 3-6 Daily!

Come for the views, stay for the buzz. Buzzy Hour runs daily 3-6 PM at @beesidebalconydelmar @beesidebalconylajolla with @chefchristophec (La Jolla & Del Mar) with $1 oysters, coastal bites, drink specials, honey beer, and burger deals--plus all-day happy hour Mondays. This is your sign to join the hive.

I would like to leave this message for the management team. The service at this restaurant was honestly unacceptable. I visited around 4.20 PM on Tuesday when the restaurant was not busy. I constantly had to look for my server, whenever I needed something. No one seemed interested in checking on guests or providing basic service. What frustrated me the most was the attitude. When my server finally came to my table, her attitude and choice of words were rude and completely inappropriate for someone working in hospitality. After this experience, I'm not surprised to see so many reviews mentioning poor service. Management seriously needs to pay more attention to what is happening on the floor because this level of service is driving customers away.

Came here during the World Cup and during their happy hour. We ordered oysters, sangria and a martini. The balcony seating area has amazing views. We sat in the bar area and had amazing service.

Went here for happy hour on Sunday. They have daily happy hour, including $1 oysters, which is a huge deal for my boyfriend who's from New England! As you can see in the photo, we ordered a ton for the four of us. Our waiter was very accommodating and friendly, and would always check up on us providing great service. They also have $4 beers and little happy hour meals that you can order for a great deal. The location is also great and has ocean views from the outside deck. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

We had a group dinner here our first night in town and the outdoor setting was lovely on a cool, spring evening. We started with charcuterie and spread boards which were good; the artichoke spread was a winner for me! The wine list had great options by the glass and I broke rules pairing a pinot noir with fish, but did not get any judgmental looks about that. The barramundi was delicious and the perfect light entree after a long day of travel. Service was good and food came out quickly. This is a great spot for a quiet relaxing dinner with fresh and lighter options.

Was fortunate to find this place. They have great seats outside the balcony overseeing the street and ocean. The octopus was grilled and seasoned perfectly. If I lived nearby, I would come here weekly. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The blackened tuna was delicious. This place should have a line out the door. Delicious food and great hospitality. Was here on a work trip from Los Angeles, but if I ever am in the area, I will definitely stop by. Excellent all around!

Cute little restaurant with a great view of La Jolla. Service was a bit slow and seemed completely uninterested about being there. Yet still was friendly. The salad was fresh and the gyro was enjoyed.

Fresh seafood And delicious food. Great happy hour with $1 oysters, street tacos, truffle fries, meatballs and more! Nice ambiance overlooking La Jolla. Close to downtown La Jolla and walking distance to beach. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Nice vibe!

    Happy hour menu

Booked reservations a month in advance for my boyfriend's birthday because you can never be too careful in La Jolla + who can beat the $1/oyster happy hour deal. Well, they conveniently told us AFTER we ordered drinks that they were out of oysters. We booked it to Pescador Fish Market right after paying our bill. If you're looking for their happy hour oyster deal, make sure you call in advance or they'll scam you.

A fantastic view overlooking LaJolla cove and the BEST SERVICE with the spirit of Aloha from each employee we met! It was just before 4pm and we popped in after shopping on our first day visiting from Phoenix. Because the dining room doesn't open until 4:30, we went upstairs to the bar area. There were PLENTY of seating options both inside and on the outside patio. There was ample shade outside but we opted for the high tops at the bar. The bartender Shaun/Shawn served us and was super professional! We shared a Cesar salad with Chicken (thank you for the info on the proteins Shaun!)- and the all-famous coconut shrimp which did not disappoint. All in all this is a great location, with a fabulous view and outstanding service and I highly recommend for drinks and appetizers if you're in the area! The jasmine rice soaked up the coconut milk broth nicely, but I did wish there were more pieces of seafood. I was not a fan of the Macadamia Nut Hummus. It did not have the creaminess of most hummus. Rather, it was like a bad hummus topped with chopped macadamia nuts. For dessert, the hula pie was like a tall cookie-n-cream ice cream cake...it was okay. It was served straight out of the freezer, so it was rock-hard to spoon through. It also did not taste fresh, as if it had been in the freezer for weeks. When I received my check, their credit card machine automatically suggested to tip 20%, 25%, or 30%. Service was fine, but I don't like restaurants that pressure customers to automatically tip a minimum of 20%. It's restaurants like this that do not pay their servers a decent wage and expect customers to chip in for the difference. The outdoor tables had nice ocean views, for what it's worth.

One of my favorite meals here is the risotto Benedict. It was still good, but unfortunately, it didn't taste quite as good as it normally does. After we left, my stomach was very upset, and I ended up having to make an emergency stop at the La Jolla Shores bathrooms before heading home. Our waiter was also a little slow. It took quite a while for our water to give us water after a long walk on the beach and then our bill took forever as well. On top of that, the waiter commented "Impressive" because I had finished my entire plate. But, I decided on a 5 because, in the more than 30 years that I have been dining at the Brockton Villa, I've never had a bad meal, nor a marginal one, they've all been spot on. It's easy to enjoy the perch on the side of the hill, with an immediate view of the Cove and the further views of the Shores, Glider Port and on a clear day, Torrey Pines. What comes with that view, is the smell of nature, and on Tuesday, it was stronger. It didn't interfere with our meal. The wait staff are all friendly, experienced, and approach the table appropriately. I can't relate to a setting where the server is there every couple of minutes. I tend to eat there more for breakfast and lunch, dinners less commonly. The menu is diverse enough for 2 picky eaters to always find something fantastic. On Tuesday, I had the clam and crab chowder and it was superb. I grew up in New England, the epicenter of chowders. I am known amongst friends, for the many chowders that I make at home. The salmon BLT is a recurrent favorite, as is the basic breakfast, tweaked to your preferences, with a wide array of protein options. Im going to be perfectly honest this was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've had just…read morein general but what made it worse was that we visited this place while on vacation. The family was pretty excited to try this place out and by the end of the meal, every single member of my family (all 5 people) were angry. The service was horrific. We came during lunch, they were not particularly busy and we were seated within 5 minutes. Let's start with the food. I ordered a $25 Wagyu burger and it was unseasoned. Not under seasoned, UNSEASONED. The patty was overcooked. I asked for medium rare and it was well done to a point where it was not even remotely enjoyable. This $25 burger did not come with fries, it came with a very small bowl of salad that had no salad dressing. The wrap my wife ordered was mediocre and lacking any flavor. The shrimp inside was good but everything else was bland. The one thing that was good was the seafood chowder. It was excellent. Very flavorful and rich. The best tasting thing at our table were the children's tater tots and the clam chowder to be very honest. Now onto the service. The service is arguably worse than the food. The waiter looked annoyed to take our order but what is egregiously worse than that is that in our entire time sitting there eating our food for more than 45 minutes, our server (or any member of the wait staff) literally did NOT come back once to check on us or ask us if the dishes were good or to give anyone water refills (we ordered a coke and that was not refilled the entire meal). I want to reiterate, we literally did not get a refill of our waters or the coke we ordered 1 time the entire meal. Our waters were empty 10 minutes into the food arriving but because no member of the wait staff came by to check on us, we resorted to drinking out the water bottles we brought ourselves. We tried to flag down a member of the wait staff 3 times and after, my wife just said 'let's just try to get out of here as soon as possible. This is ridiculous'. I also want to be clear, we were not in a separate room or in the corner, the door of the restaurant was visible, the bar where they serve alcohol was visible from our table. The wait staff just chose not to check on us and ignore our hands in the air trying to flag them down. They came after more than an hour to drop off the check without saying anything to us or ask about how the food was. We were so angry by that point we did not even bother to ask for a refill of water or coke. We just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
