Had to try this place out after all the fans of Beggars were raving about it. Honestly, it's not bad, but not as AWESOME as everyone says. It was good. Yes, I would get it again, but not in my top 3 of pizza places. I like a little thinner crust for me but the cheese and ingriedients were good. Worth checking out. Really good pizza, the sauce is great, the amount of cheese and any added ingredients you ask for is just right, and the crust is nice and crispy, although their idea of "thin" crust is a little thicker than you find at other pizza joints. read more

I've heard nothing but great things about other locations primarily Chicago bound but have never been so figured I'd try one since now there is one in my town. I am a pizza lover and sad to say I was not impressed. I ordered a medium thin crust cheese and pepperoni pizza and it definitely could have used more sauce and although I am a true cheese lover the cheese was laid on pretty thick not a good kind of thick either more like dough kind of thick which leads me to the crust which was also not crispy and more of a hard dough and overall the pizza just lacked any real flavor. read more

Pizza in pizza town of Chicago has a lot of competition. For a chain, this location is really solid. Nice and clean inside, not too many people. It's in a good spot in town in Downers Grove. If I could give them higher rating, I would. We have been ordering for over 3 years from Downers Grove and NEVER have a bad pizza......thin crust with mushrooms, onions and sausage. Only 2 of us but we order largest size as we love left-overs. Actually not much left as my man is 6' 7". No one does better. Their crust, sauce and generous toppings are outstanding. Friendly staff, that's why they got 2 stars. The pizza? Go across the street and get a $5 hot n ready pizza... honestly, I spent $40 here on my first time trying the pizza and I regret it. We originally wanted to order the deep dish pizza but after finding out it would be an hour plus wait.. we said screw it and opt for a large pep. It just taste... cheap? We also ordered the $10 make choose your own 3 samplers and we got mini tacos as one of them and they were so, so, small! Tacos made for a Barbie doll. Will not go back. read more

This location just opened down the street from me. They do really simple pizzas well. Sausage and pepperoni. Once you get more and more toppings, especially veggies, they load so much of it on that it is way too hard to eat and gets watery. I have not tried deep dish from here yet, but their single slices are really good. You can dine in at this location, but I always take out and grab a movie from next door (family video). So many south siders swear by beggars pizza and I don't understand why? I've tried this place 7 times and have had 1 good not great pizza. The last delivery was a total joke of receiving a pizza without the thin crust being cooked, actually 5 out of 7 times that the case. This location must be the worst beggars operators of the whole franchise. I've given up on beggars, NEVER again, there are too many really good pizza places within a couple miles. Funny thing is this place cannot take feedback unless it's positive, I always tip on my pick ups and deliveries. They claim to put a lot of ingredients on a pizza and then can't cook the pizza through. Just check Yelp and go with a pizza place with 4+ stars, anything less than 4 is a waste of time and $$$. read more

I almost went back on my account for the first time in a while, because for some reason I thought not getting my pizza perfectly as usual was a reason to vent anonymously online.....then my wife told me I was an absolute loser and I remembered why I stopped yelping. I used Beggars to provide pizza for a work party. I found them to be very accommodating. I had to go in a day earlier to place my order so that they could have a driver available since I needed the pizza at my location at 11:00 am when they normally don't open until 11:00 am. I ordered 9 family size pizzas plus 3 of their deep dish chocolate chip cookies and they provided the plates, napkins, plastic ware and packets of Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. If you like your pizza topped with plenty of topping and cheese then you'll like Beggars. read more

I've been to a number of other Beggar's locations and loved all types of pizza we ordered. That being said, Downer's Grove location tasted about the same but the cheese topping was under cooked for both pizzas we ordered. I would request a little more time in the oven so cheese browned a bit and not luke warm. read more

Quality depends on ingredients chosen....pepperoni and mushrooms are hidden beneath a very thick layer of cheese, and therefore never have the chance to bake to a nice crispiness. Been a loyal Beggars Pizza fan for 25 years even when I moved to the north suburbs where they don't exist. Go out of my way to pickup 30+ miles. Been to DG location 3 times, each time inconsistent. The last was the worst. I ordered 2 pizzas, both had fungus-dirt taste mushrooms on it. You can smell the fungi from the pizza so the cook obviously didn't care how fresh the ingredients were. Beggars has always used canned mushrooms so I'm not sure how this happened. Never had this happen at any Beggars location ever. Luckily I did not get sick. The deep dish crust was so thin it just rolled over into the pizza and made it soggy. I don't think this newest franchise location has been taught how to make a Beggars Pizza. I expect that type of service from a discount pizza chain but not from the Beggars name. I will take my business to the Maywood location. Their pizza was how it should be made and the franchise has been around many years. read more

I have given this facility three different opportunities and all three have fallen incredibly short. If I was you, I would not even give them a chance. The Greek salad I ordered on the first visit was lettuce and very little else. The triple appetizer platter I ordered on my second visit was overcooked and completely overpriced. The beef and sausage combo that I ordered today for over $11, with an extra dollar added for sweet peppers, was left behind when I saw how little food I was getting for my money. One slice of sweet pepper and three or four small pieces of beef on an incredibly dry bun and an over cooked sausage. They actually had the nerve to want to attack another $1.25 on to that for french fries. When I questioned the waitstaff about the quality, quantity, and price of the food he enthusiastically said to me UNFORTUNATELY, i'm just the messenger. The service was terrible. We had to wait an hour for a pizza that wasn't ever made it then took another 40 minutes to receive the correct one. Our server put in the wrong order. There was two servers the first one took our Order but said she had to leave and never did. She was terrible. So then the replacement server told us what the other server did. Devin did a better job of keeping us updated but we had to go and look for the manager after asking him several times to speak with one. The manager took for ever to come and let us know what had happened with the pizza that we order. This was our first time eating at beggars pizza and I do not think we will be having dinner here again. Today is my moms birthday and we were suppose to be on our way to Chicago to celebrate her birthday. The server that we had before Devin was awful.
