Begyle is awesome -- I'm so late to the game! I made my first visit here last weekend for a friends birthday and we had a great time. I was surprised to see so many families with young kids (lots of toddlers and babies) but the space is really perfect for them! There's a huge room off the entrance with lots of large tables and ample space for kiddos to run around. There was even a playstation set up for older kids to play games. I definitely want to come back with my toddler this summer! I'm not a big beer drinker, so I went with a cider at the recommendation of the staff working. They were all super friendly and welcoming! I loved it! It was refreshing and not overly sweet. The Urban Dining League was the food pop up there that say so I decided to order some hash browns. EXQUISITE! So tasty and flavorful. Visited Ravenswood on a Sunday afternoon and dropped into Begyle Brewing. It was a full house of people of all ages, including children. It was Bingo Sunday and there was a Mexican food truck outside. There were people having beers and tacos at the outdoor space with their pooch dogs. My husband had a lovely Irish Nitro and I enjoyed a delightful cherry sour. I'm looking forward to exploring the other beer selections on our next visit. read more

My lovely wife and I stopped by Begyle Brewing on a sweltering Saturday afternoon (well, it was rather hot anyway). We definitely appreciated the air-conditioned interior, and our window seats (with a slightly sloping wood ledge - watch your beverages!) provided a prime perch for spotting patrons dealing with the breezy elements in the outdoor patio. Oh yes, the beer is good too. I've had Begyle beer previously, but it was nice to finally have a pour at the cozy taproom. It was a decent crowd during our visit but not overflowing, just the way I like it. I enjoyed my tangy glass of When Tangerines Fly quite a bit, and I also got to try a sip of Ducks Fly Together. I came in to work as it was finally warm weather in Chicago and this spot did not disappoint. They have outdoor seating as well as huge windows that open which makes inside feel like outside. It was pretty quiet when I arrived, but within a few hours, the place was very busy! They have a great selection of beers, but no food. Highly recommend checking this spot out! read more

Begyle has always been a pretty solid brewery. I remember when it was just a little taproom, now they have expanded next door. The Taplist is always diverse and solid and the staff is always moving, you don't have to wait long in line, no matter how long it is. Love the big bay windows and outside cafe style seating....there is a food truck sometimes, but not to sure. I imagine they wouldn't mind you bringing your own food or delivery. read more

I wished I lived near here! Located in Malt Row, a cute little neighborhood in Ravenswood, this location was packed for Bingo on a Sunday. Meter parking was free (bonus). I had the Irish Nitro and she had the cherry sour. The food truck outside provided us a breakfast burrito which we shared. Inside was lovely, outside was lovely, pooch dog friendly, I imagine this place is slammed in 'good weather' months. Pints were a $1 off. Come, be with your people. read more

Begyle is small but it's not alone. It happens to be on a sort of Brewers Row where there's a few more. Ravenswood has had a lot of these pop up. Hard to know which is better. They're all good. Had a good time hanging out recently as the weather got better. It was pretty happening in here. They have a pretty good draft list. It's a small brewery, so keep expectations in check. The prices depend on style. Some are pricy. The best one was the Boogie Shoes. It's $9 a pint. This is a double IPA but it's strong. It has a 9.2% ABV. That will make those shoes boogie, lol. Good selection for a small brewery. I hope to try a few more. This place is much more easygoing than the big ass popular craft breweries in the more hip places. read more

Begyle is my favorite neighborhood brewery! The staff is always friendly and helpful when deciding which beer to order. The ambiance is nice and casual, the outdoor picnic tables are perfect for an afternoon beer in the summers. They're positioned between the metra and brown lines, so to me it has a very "Chicago" vibe while also being on a quiet street off the beaten path. Their sour beers are my favorite, but I haven't had anything that I haven't liked. They keep a guest cider on draft too for gluten free folks which I think is cool. I also like that they have a game shelf, and that they organize game nights like bingo. It's an all around great community spot, highly recommend visiting! read more

There was a party going on inside, but it was a beautiful sunny day in November, so we grabbed a picnic table outside and got a few flights. We enjoyed all the beer that we got! What a fun spot! I met a few friends here on a beautiful fall Sunday afternoon and it was perfect. The pineapple beer I got was amazing, and there was so much room for all of us together indoors by the big windows (the patio was packed!). I came here after the Ravenswood Art fest with my husband. They had great customer service and amazing beer! This is a craft beer place so everything served is brewed at this location. They had tons of outdoor seating and a good amount of indoor seating that felt like you were outside because their windows are gigantic and when the weather is good they completely open them up. You order at their front register and then you're free to sit wherever there is an open table. You can do flights of 3 or 6. My husband and I decided to do 6 flights so that we could try a variety of their different beers. We are huge IPA lovers and their Village and No tomorrow Hazy IPA drinks were amazing! . We also ordered the the Crush regular IPA and thought it was also so good! All of the drinks from our flight were great!! The atmosphere is amazing and I loved how you could see the kegs that the beers were stored in. Was an all around great experience. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well! read more

My favorite brewery in Chicago hands down. Words can not express how much I love this beer... but I suppose I'll try. The stouts, the pales, the hoppiest of the hoppy, I love them all. However their imperials are the real show stopper, Flannel pajamas notes of coffee always knock my socks off. It's definitely a heavier beer but somehow still feels a little lighter than most which is why it's my all-time favorite. The taproom is also a great hangout spot, especially for afterwork drinks, pre-covid the games and skiiball were nice, hoping to have similar hangouts when it's time again. during covid however, they've made big changes to improve their outdoor taproom which is much appreciated, especially with the new wood patio space opening this week I'm very excited about. Pre-covid they had a great value brew tour that came with the $5 snifter & a drink of choice all for... I believe $10-$12? A real value compared to other breweries. I hope to bring out of towners to it, once things are safe enough again (if they start doing them again after the pandemic) Get: The coffee Stout (flannel pajamas) or imperial stouts around christmas time are always a good choice. This place used to be a lot more interesting back in the day. The beer has always been hit and miss but it didn't used to be so overpriced and, not coincidentally, they used to take cash. The no dogs inside is another downgrade and the environs are looking pretty rough these days. First thing is first... This brewery is dog friendly! It's a pretty spacious spot with plenty of seating, yet when we visited it was bumping. All tables were occupied but we were able to snag a high top chair while the pupper played with another pupper. The staff and just about all the other patrons are fond of the doggos so it's quite a nice environment to sit back and enjoy a cold one while letting the 4 legged friend mingle with other 4 legged friends. On to the beers, I'm actually quite a fan of the signature blonde, but on this time around we ended up trying their pale ale and one of their IPAs I haven't seen on shelves before. Both were solid and we ended up grabbing a 6 pack of the IPA to go! Anyhow, if you're looking for a local community supported brewery serving up great beers and is dog friendly, look no further! I happened to be in town for a release of a bunch of variants of their Imperial Pajamas - a mega tasty stout in-and-of-itself, but we also got to sample the French Toast, the Pancake, and even the Pecan Pie varieties! I've been a longtime fan of Begyle and, while I was never up and at em early enough to make it to their beer and yoga classes (pre-COVID), I have made it a habit to drop in for Skee-Ball and beers from time-to-time--it's especially a favorite when family is in town! They always have a wide variety of beer types available and I can truthfully say I've never been disappointed. Right now their main shop is closed, but they have a nice patio out front and another contactless patio in back. The tables are setup well apart from each other, there was good music playing, cold cans of beer flowing, and they had very clear (and enforced) rules set for wearing masks when not in your seat. Begyle was super chill and cool!! Enjoyed the whole setup next to the train tracks and American flags flying in the background for Veteran's Day. Shout out to the Veterans! I loved the beers!! Batch 663 (English Style Barrel Aged Barleywine Ale) was EXCELLENT!! The Imperial Pajamas (Bourbon Barrel aged imperial stout) was AWESOME!! This beer tastes like an old fashioned! You need reservations to sit down at a picnic tables. I did see some people going up to the window to get carry out to go beers and ciders! I ordered a to go cider which was great and easy drinking and a Christmas Ale 4 pack(Spiced /Herbed Beer) which was delicious and just in time for the holidays! They do not serve food. Many thanks to Claudia S. for planning an awesome UYE at Begyle so I could finally get my booty here. Begyle is truly a neighborhood brewery and was actual the city's first "Community Supported Brewery". They opened their taproom two years ago after producing beer for awhile. You can easily find their bottles of Begyle Blonde and Crash Landed at your local liquor spot. On Saturday afternoon, the brewery was totally packed. It's not a huge space but I was surprised at just how busy it was. They have 40 seats, then may open up some more standing room if it gets busy, like they did this past weekend. If you're into brewery tours, they do a $10 tour which includes a glass & three pours, every Saturday at Noon. Begyle offered three sizes of most of their brews on tap - 5 oz sampler sizes, 13 oz and 16 oz glasses. Prices are completely reasonable and thanks to those 5 oz samplers, you can make your way pretty well through their entire menu. When I was there, they had 8 beers and 2 ciders on tap, most hovering around 5-6%. I was very pleased they had two nitro offerings and not surprisingly my favorite of the day was their Barrel Aged Maybe Next Year beer. BYOF (Bring Your Own Food), but they also have food trucks here and there for drinkers. Really chill place and I appreciated the no frills bartenders. Enjoyed the beer though admittedly not my favorite in the city, but I wouldn't hesitate to come back for their stand-out beers and awesome brew-mosphere! read more
