I went in there for dinner at 6:15 on a Friday and was informed that I would only be able to eat behind a wall until 6:30 because half of the restaurant had been reserved for the local Police gtg. I asked, "So I have to hide?" and was told yes. I asked what happened if I didn't leave by 6:30 and he said that I could stay a little after 6:30 but not much. Talk about some of the best Chinese food!!! We ate lunch here and ordered sweet and sour chicken and shrimp, generals chicken and Kung POW triple. Everything tasted amazing. I guess we should have ordered differently. Our shrimp lo main, and chicken chow mein were tasteless. The spring rolls and dumplings tasteless too, except too salty. Thank goodness for dumpling dipping sauces that had an abundance of garlic and flavor. Spring roll sauce came out of a packet; a too-sweet goopy chemical mess and no mustard. The noodles had no vegetables, just a big pile (lots of noodles) with about 8 shrimp. I could probably fix the food I ordered by adding other ingredients to make the dish better, but that is not why I ordered take-out; it should stand alone without any other fuss. read more

Honestly it's not the best or good enough for all the praises from previous reviews. There is a guy coming in and out of the kitchen to reception to pick up order slips from the guy who answers the phone and neither wears a mask. Sure the price is a dollar or two less than the other Chinese food restaurant in Basalt but the taste is just not worth the money and your health. read more

For the limited Chinese food Carbondale has to offer it's okay especially if you don't want to drive far. This time got sweet and sour chicken- really dry and mostly batter. Kung Pow Beef was bland and chewy with veggies mushy. Egg drop and sweet and sour soup is good. read more

From Denver.. trip to Glenwood Springs, side trip to Red Stone and stopped in Carbondale for lunch. Looks pretty "local" but that's what we wanted instead of Mall Restaurants. What a pleasant surprise! This is some of the best Chinese ever had! All 3 of us agreed! I had the best MooShu Pork ever..right combo of sprouts, veggie, thin sliced pork and wonderful plum sauce. Could only eat 2 of the 4 huge portions. Husband had Kung Pau Cx, really spicy so ask for med spice as he loves spice...but such good flavor he loved it. Friend had Sweet/Sour Cx..he loved it! All served on different shaped new white plates, nothing plastic, beautiful tea service for the Jasmine tea --They were finishing floor remodelling in one section. But "Dine In" was fab. New tables, chairs, decor it seemed. Outside seems kind of "iffy" but inside was "big city" amazing. I suppose if I lived here I'd order in. But for the travellers driving thru Carbondale, this is a must stop for a Local Treasure! We will make a point to dine here again when we go to Glenwood. read more
