Today, I purchased Brandy Fried Chicken, Chow Mein, Barbecue Pork and Pot Stickers from the Raleys/Bel Air " Sizzling Wok" and it made me sick. I suspect the food prepared at the Sizzling Wok could be used by UCD gastroenterology instructors to teach medical interns how to use a stomach pump to remove the Raleys/Bel Air Sizzling Wok garbage from patients. Now they are selling food that requires medical assistance at a medical emergency room. There are so many nice mom and pop Asian food restaurants, please stay the hell away from Rayleys/Bel Air Sizzling Woks. For decades, Raleys and Bel Air markets have taken advantage of people living in Sacramento and surrounding areas by charging high prices for just about everything sold in their grocery stores. That's what I call a monopoly. Those days are going or gone thanks to Walmart, Costco, Sams Club and Winco. Safeways markets is almost as bad. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Raleys and Bel Air markets because of high grocery prices and bad food prepared at Sizzling Wok. read more

Hey, checkout clerks, stop asking me if I have been plans this weekend. You ask in such a way to make it sound as though your management requires that you ask the question the way a worker at McDonald's used to ask if you wanted to super-size your meal. You are not my friend, so don't ask about my plans. Sure, this sounds petty, but after many times of having to come up with a polite answer, I have decided to shop elsewhere. For some people in the checkout line, these are personal questions. Your mindless inquiries are an invasion of privacy. Get a clue, if I have a cart full of beer, the answer is that I'm going to drink. You don't have to ask what I'm planning to do over the weekend or make lame comments. I cringe when I approach the checkout line at this store. Please take a customer service lesson from Nugget or Whole Foods. read more

Save yourself time and shop elsewhere. Since it's remodel, this supermarket has now become a large convenience store. They carry less items than regularly, and the staff is minimally available. Clerks do not help you out to your car anymore, because, well, there aren't any there. They built this huge child play center, in which there are no children in it. There should be more room for food to sell than a child playroom! Such a disappointing shopping experience! read more

just a shout out to a knight in shining armor, Manager Mark for saving the day for me. There seems to be an apparent communication gap with the prepared prepared food area. The server appeared to not understand a single word of what I was asking for. I asked for peppers, the man filled half the bowl with peppers. I said, 'not that many peppers' he continued to fill the bowl with red peppers. He did the same thing with the green peppers and the same thing with the red onions. I was at a loss on how to communicate with this person behind the Chinese food bar. Mark was just passing by, I asked him for help in this matter. He took control and resolved the issue by his excellent management skills. Way to go Mark. YOU keep people civilized. Thanks for being my hero today! read more

I work very close to this store and frequent often. I stopped going while they were remodeling, and recently went back for a quick trip. I only needed about five things. I went into the store and couldn't find anything. First, it took me nearly an hour to find the majority of my purchases. The last thing I needed to find were Rockstars. I walked the store several times, and could not find any non-alcoholic drinks. After about twenty minutes of waddling my very pregnant self from one end to another, I decided to ask. I went to the self check registers, where four employees were huddled in a circle chit chatting and I stood about two feet away. One employee acknowledged me with a smile, but turned away before I could ask my question. I stood there for several minutes, getting increasingly furious, then finally int erupted their little meeting. The employee quickly told me the items I was looking for were on such and such an aisle, and I was off. (YAY! I am almost done and can go home!!!) I start toward the aisle, and as I near its supposed location, I realize their is a problem, the aisles a: don't go that far, and b: why would the Rockstars be situated between the produce department and the whole foods/organic section. (Because that totally makes sense right?) So before walking into the wall at the end of the store, I decide to trek down the last aisle, between produce and organic foods, and there, nestled in the last, less than obvious location I didn't look, and there, miles from anywhere that seems obvious, is the sodas and energy drinks. I grab the Rockstars and finally I am done. This shopping trip took me over an hour to finish. I almost fell in overpsray from the produce department. (Did I mention this trip was a week before I delivered my baby!) And I walked from one end of the store to the other about six times, with my ankles the size of grape fruits. All with incorrect assistance from the employees that are too busy to help their customers. I guess the walking was good exercise right, I mean they do say it makes labor easier. read more

Friendly, family atmosphere! I live across town with several grocery stores between myself and this one, but I prefer to shop here whenever I get the chance. The employees are so helpful, friendly, and efficient. The prices are relatively competitive based on my particular shopping needs (vegan, all natural, organic, etc.). Had been coming to this place for years, generally pretty trustworthy despite sky high prices. Today however, I bought one of their rotisserie chickens and a few other prepped meals--the chicken was well undercooked and I came back to exchange it. The second chicken, though better in appearance, gave the entire table food poisoning. I am not sure if they have any standards with the food they prepare, but I hope they adjust and will. This is my favorite Raley's / Bel Air. The one by the dam runs a close 2nd, but purely because of their awesome hot bar / deli. The 'other one' in town is so ghetto that I can't even review it. That said, the staff here is truly Customer focused, and the store is always clean and feels comfortable. You know what I mean, those stores you go into and it just feels.....ick. Like the Safeway in Pacific Grove / Monterey that has aisles way too close together and feels creepy....but that's another story. Good deli (we already talked about the awesome one by the dam) and the final touch is their produce section - tied for selection and price with #2, but better staff. Close tie for best store in town with new Raley's (its sister store) on E. Natoma. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Becky in the Bakery is the bomb when it comes to desserts and birthday cakes! Excellent meat and produce depts. Good wine and cheese selections including local products. Pugliese and Dutch Crust bread from the bakery Dept. is always 5-stars! Low Marks- Pre-made sushi is only 2-stars compared to sit-down sushi, but compared to other store made sushi it is certainly best in class. Pre-made Chineses fast food deli counter items are not even close, in taste or qulity, to that of a good sit-down Chinese restaurant. High Marks- Many gourmet items intermingled throughout store. lots of product options. Large health food and organic foods section. read more

All of the workers are pretty rude and stuck up and when I went to the sushi area I asked the man if there was salmon inside of one of the rules and he said yes. I think he might have not understood what I was saying due to the fact that he was Asian and didn't speak very good English. When I sat down to eat my sushi I took a bite of my role surprised to see there was only rice inside and I had wasted $15 so I went back to the man and asked him if he could just give me fish on the side and he said no. Love this Bel Air. It's my favorite out of all of the Raley's and Bel Airs in the area. The Java City inside used to be my morning stop for coffee before I moved and the servers were friendly and learned my drink by memory eventually. One woman made great conversation and she still remembers me even though I go there maybe once every 4 months or so now. The deli section is great. The salads are delicious and they will always offer you a free sample if you ask. Their dutch crunch bread is my favorite out of any other grocery store, and they also have great rotisserie chickens, Chinese food and Sushi. They also have a really good meat counter. There's a huge selection of organic foods and a bulk section. Not as cheap as Winco, but it's better selection. While Raley's and Bel Air has more expensive prices than some stores, the quality of food more often than not seems to be higher. read more

This store has gone downhill since the remodel it's been a year and I still have a hard time finding items. I've been going here for 15 years. It's also gotten much more crowded yet seems like less staff at times. The produce has gone downhill. The Alcohol section has grown but the whole blocking the aisle is a pain for shopping. I went in a couple of days ago, looking for escarole. I asked Steve, the produce manager, where I could find it. He said they didn't have any as it's not typically kept in stock but said he'd ask other stores if they had it. While I was still in produce, he was able to tell me that they Raley's in Folsom didn't have it either. Okay. As I shopped in other parts of the store, Steve came and found me to let me know the Cameron Park store had some if I wanted to go there. I thanked him. I couldn't believe he would go out of his way to find me, after going further in trying to find this product for me. I really couldn't believe it. I saw him again today and thanked him. I go here often as it is my nearest grocery store. I have gotten to know many of the staff, most of whom are friendly and personable. They are always willing to help me find things. The store is laid out well and the aisles are wide enough, except when someone parks their cart in the middle of the aisle while being unaware that there may be others in the store besides themself. There is plenty of parking and prices are in the acceptable range. read more

I was debating myself should I leave 2 or 3 stars because its seemingly a small issue; however means a bigger deal for a housewife who trusts this place for helping preparing her groceries. Its the butcher~~ I have always loved to go to their butchers for our family's big holidays or celebration. I especially would go for their fresh meat with their special seasonings that you can only get when you ask their butchers since they do not sell it at the store. The butchers I experienced have been very helpful which I enjoyed very much. But this time, in this hot afternoon on 6/1/2016, its not so pleasing. Standing in front of the butcher counter, I was waiting, no one is in, so I rang the bell, didnt see one inside either. Finally I got this guy, and asked him to season my meat; got home, and found out he only seasoned ONE SIDE of the meat, he didnt even bother to flip the other side since he had the meat opened right in front of him. I have been asking for the same rub done for years from this place, and this is the first time the butcher did it this way. Is it really the way some cooks only put rubs on one side of meat, or is that I am asking for too much.... So 3 stars because I love this place in general; however, I wish I do not have to remind their butchers for unexpected errors/outcomes that are too late to fix when I cook for my family. read more

Ordered Thanksgiving groceries online and was charged. When I went to pick up the order at my specified time and date, I was told ecart was down, just park anywhere and call us. My order wasn't ready and they told me to shop for what I needed. This totally is not what I expected by ordering online. Then they charged me for everything that I had, which was what i had ordered online, and said that they don't charge until you check out, which is bullshit because they charged me 4 days prior. Now we have to wait 3to 5 business days to get my money back from my ecart shopping experience. Don't do it, the customer service sucks and they don't give a crap about you or the money they took from you. read more

the hot Chinese food department closes the kitchen at least an hour before the rest of the department closes where the pre-made food is available so you can't get items on the sign boards they display other than the menu board or anything else than what is on the hot table listed on the wall menu which one manager said should be available until they close. So myself and family have stopped going there after years of getting food there since we started shopping there after 5-6:00 p.m.. The nice girl who we no longer see there recently said business was slow and they stopped selling hot Chinese food at the other location up e.bidwell because of slow sales. I work hard for my money and this is unacceptable. This is my neighborhood store and I go out of my way to Safeway when I'm able for better selection and prices and reliability. Always clean, friendly service, great selection! I love the Pete's Coffee Club and the Something Extra Points Card. Their prices are a bit higher but the customer service is so much better than all of the "bargain" stores. Plus this location is very convenient for me! I also appreciate their business practices. Very disappointed to find out that Raley's, Bel Air, has discontinued making their "no sugar added" pies. This is the one dessert that was good for people on a restricted, or low sugar diet. I had a few minutes, during a class today, to run to the Cameron Park, CA, Bel Air Deli for lunch. I ordered the cupcake shaped meatloaf covered with mashed potatoes because I knew it would be quick to heat and eat. While walking away from the deli, I made the mistake of reading the ingredients label. OMG! I didn't count the number of ingredients, but I'll bet it was around 50, including high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oil. I was hungry, so I ate about 1/4 of it and couldn't bear the thought of eating more, let alone taking the leftovers home. It didn't even taste like meatloaf! I couldn't help but think of that pink slime some companies add to their beef?? I put the leftovers in the trash, where it belongs. I'm sure it's the same recipe at all the Raley's and Bel Air stores, not just the Cameron Park location. Unless you don't care about your health, pass on this meatloaf! I like the Raley's & Bel Air stores and will continue shopping there, because they carry a lot of organic & natural foods, but it's prudent to ask for an ingredient list before purchasing deli items at any grocery store. read more
