I've been to Belfort on and off for years, and I can say that it is consistent with food, with atmosphere, and with service, never had any bad service really never had any bad food. Been here now a few times and every single time it's not been great, servers seem like they have little training even though price per person is about $100 if you get an average steak and a drink, and for a steak house charging $60-150 for a steak to not be temping it is astounding, ordered medium rare and came out cold in the middle, usually fine with rare but this was 60° in the center. I'm giving this business a 3 but I'm torn about it. I feel like the service was really good except that our waiter make a mistake with my husband's order. He ordered a prime rib but they brought a NY strip steak. My husband considered correcting them when they brought it to the table but took it as a sign that he was supposed to save some money and decided to just accept the NY strip. Unfortunately he was very unimpressed with the NY strip steak. It could've just been an off night but he really disliked it. My short rib was just okay but the appetizers were delicious. My husband was also disappointed that they didn't mention our 10 year anniversary even though he put it on the reservation. I think we've been spoiled because we've spent our last few anniversaries at the Olde Pink House and they always make a big deal of it. The atmosphere is genuinely great, elegant, lively, and worth the visit on its own. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and did everything she could under the circumstances. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food was just average at best. Nothing stood out, and for the prices (which are definitely on the high side for Savannah), we expected a lot more. The real killer was the service from the kitchen. We waited over an hour and a half for our entrées after ordering. Appetizers and drinks came out fine, but then everything ground to a halt. I actually watched the kitchen from our table, and it was clear the "shit hit the fan" with zero backup plan in place no communication, no sense of urgency, just total chaos. At one point I seriously considered walking out and only paying for what we'd already consumed (apps and drinks), but we stuck it out. I spoke with the manager about it, and while he was polite, it didn't change the fact that the operation fell apart. For a place this pricy with this kind of reputation, basic execution like getting food to the table in a reasonable time should be non-negotiable. My first time here. Me and my family of 4 , tried their bottomless mimosas which were so good. The service was amazing as well, our server was very attentive. Our server inform us that the southern fried chicken is enough to feed 2 so we were able to split the portion size me and my partner. The fried chicken was cook to perfection. We were visiting Savannah for the weekend and made a reservation for his birthday dinner. We were seated at a room to the left of the bar just before where the bathrooms were located. It was a section with several big tables of large loud groups and a constant stream of people heading to the restroom. Since it was only the 2 of us, it was hardly romantic in any way between the visible bathroom line and the loud groups (a millennial girls night birthday full of cocktails/screeching laughs and a large family that had 2 kids under 3 years old) and it would have been better if we were seated in another room. I ordered the pork chop and he ordered the ribeye. That ribeye had a $96 price tag. He usually orders the ribeye when he goes out so he had high expectations for this one. He was disappointed and expected more for the price and said wasn't any better than ones he has had at half the price. My pork chop was great so no complaints there. Our server was excellent- friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, gave us information about the historic building and Savannah in general so was the best thing about our visit. Our server was excellent she was very attentive and didn't miss a beat. I believed her name was something like Kiki and she was from South Carolina! The food was good! The Turkey Pot Pie was a limited time offer but it was so flavorful and delicious. Superb food, service, and ambiance! As the saying goes, you go for the food but come back for the service!! Amanda was an amazing service, so welcoming, knowledgeable about the menu, providing fantastic recommendations, and just all around pleasant. Belford's has won awards for best crab cake so of course I had to try. It was full of meat, which I appreciated, I just would have liked more aoili. The wedge salad was beautifully plated and delicious. I simply couldn't eat it all. The bread pudding was the best I've ever had......I requested a small serving of icecream to go along with it and it was perfect. Oh and I can't forgot my drink......it was called Pink something....cant remember but it was delicious....not too sweet, but sweet enough. I might just go back tonight to try another dish. Date of Visit: 01-16-2024 This restaurant was highly recommended by the hotel stuff as it was walking distance from my hotel and I quote "some of the best food around" when I was in town on business. It is located in City market area of Savannah, which felt very safe to walk around at night. ATMOSPHERE/DECO Restaurant has a nice patio (too cold to sit there on my visit) and it's fairly large inside. The Decoration is very nice, with hardwood floors and brick walk. It is consider a "fancier" steakhouse with cloth napkins and tablecloth. SERVICE Waitress was very good, very attentive and helpful, I ordered a special drink and while she had to ask the bartender if they could make it (Yes I am a pain like that! Lol) she did get it right. She was friendly and made some good recommendations on the menu. PRICE Well this is partially my fault, as I got the special of the day, I did get it modified (yes see above , I am a pain lol) and I did not asked how much it was , so the bill was a shock as the special ended up being 80 dollars, which I think was way overpriced for what it was. It's definitely on the higher end for pricing but you also paying for the location I am sure. FOOD First let's start with the drink, my Cognac Sazerac was perfect, great flavor, good ratio of absinthe, very well done, kudos to the bartender as it was one of the best one I had in a while. I started with the BLT steak, which was fried green tomatoes, with bacon and pickled onions, sauce was a black pepper aioli and a balsamic reduction. The dish as a whole was very good, everything together worked great. I tried the fried green tomatoes on their own, and they were very bland but with the pickled onions, the crunch of the bacon and the acidity of the balsamic reduction, that dish was very good and I would get it again. As my main dish, I really felt like having pork chop and the one on the menu looked great. The waitress told me about their special of the night which was a NY strip smothered in chicken, with bearnaise sauce and topped with a crab cake. I did tell her that sounded good but I really wanted a pork chop, so she said the could make the special with pork chop instead of NY strip. Of course that is what I had to get, even if I should had asked how much that was first!! Lesson learned! As a side it came with smashed potatoes and I also got spinach. First let's start with the not so good. The spinach had no flavor and were very water down. The smothered in mushroom and bearnaise sauce was, well I had a different picture of Smothered in my mind. Some of the mushrooms were cold and the sauce was almost non existent, very little amount of sauce. Now, the good, the crab cake as excellent as advertised (Waitress said they were voted best crabcake in Savannah for 6 years in a row), it had very little filling, it was mostly all crab, very flavorful. The Pork chop was a very good size, cooked perfectly to a medium (my asking, so don't freak out if you see a little pink. This is not your Kroger pork chop, it will be OK!), very tender and moist, the way a pork chop should be! I was pretty full so I did not try anything from the dessert menu. MISCELLEANOUS They do have a full bar and a pretty gifted bartender (at least the night I was there). I did not experience the bathroom so I can't report on that! They do have a semi open kitchen concept, where from some of the seats you can peak into the kitchen. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. In conclusion, Belford's is a great option in savannah, especially if you are in the city market area. It is a little more upscale than most but without being too fancy or pretentious. Love, love, love this place! The history and southern hospitality of Savannah combined with this amazing food was a wonderful experience! The fried green tomatoes were flavorful and crispy. The shrimp and grits was just as tasty as rumored. We were told by the locals to try the shrimp and grits and collard greens. They were right! The shrimp po'boy was loaded with perfectly fried shrimp. And the fish and chips were also good. We sat outside...definitely not the best choice in late July with 100% humidity. But the staff turned the ceiling fans high and kept the cold water flowing. We love to sit outside and people watch as we eat. The service was great! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. After a long morning of sightseeing and walking, this meal hit the spot. Belford's is located is a square so the parking is along the street. It wasn't a far walk and the walk is covered with trees so there's plenty of shade. The parking was also free. The owner came out and greeted us which is always appreciate. May 27, 2023 - 12:15 - party of 6 I joined some friends at Belford's for brunch on a rainy Saturday. The restaurant is located in City Market in a beautiful old building. White linen tablecloth and lots of glassware on the table. Pretty place. Restrooms are located in the basement, down some steep, slippery stairs. We ordered drinks from their specialty drink menu. $15-20 each. While the presentations were nice, none of us could taste or feel any alcohol in those fancy glasses. 3 people had the Triple Blend Burgers ($20) that were slightly overcooked and served with severely overcooked fried potatoes. 2 people had the Shrimp Greens & Grits ($22). This was deconstructed shrimp & grits with a grits patty, a few shrimp lacking any sauce and a large pile of collards. I had the Crab Benedict ($28) based on the waiter's claim that Belford's was voted best crab cake in Savannah. Being a local who adores crab cakes, I had to try it. Not sure who voted in that contest as it was not award winning in any way. It was soggy - a tad undercooked. The gouda grits were good but not the rest of my meal. The only good thing about our meals was the basket of biscuits ($12) which were fluffy like a good southern biscuit should be. Too bad the other meals were disappointing. We were seated quickly, waited on quickly (by a lovely server), and got our food quickly. The beer was great. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. Beginning with the host who was a breath of fresh air who seated us promptly. Our server was Fox and I can assure you that we were well attended to. You would be wise to start with the basket of biscuits with butter and raspberry jam. Now for the entrees, the seafood frittatas is a must do if you like eggs. Came here for my sister's birthday dinner, as she had been before and really liked it. It was very busy on a Saturday evening and we had reservations, so I'm not sure if you can get a table without one. I started off with a forbidden flower cocktail and it was delicious. I ended up getting another one. For appetizers we got the roast bruschetta oysters (I think?) and a charcuterie board. The oysters were very tasty but the charcuterie board was just kind of boring. There wasn't a lot of pita bread slices and no one really touched the fruits and veggies (carrots, cauliflower, blueberries, oranges, olives). Two different cheese cubes, one in particular was divine. I wish I had asked what kind it was. It had some tiny seeds in it and was extremely smooth and creamy. For my main I got the filet mignon with fried potatoes and grilled asparagus. I asked for my steak medium rare but it came out medium to medium well. I'm not very picky with how my steak is cooked so I ate it as is and it was still really good. The fried potatoes were basically smashed potatoes and I usually don't care for asparagus but I ate all of it. I cleaned my plate. Our waitress was very nice and personable. When you think of Savannah you imagine hospitality and comfort foods, sadly not my experience at Belford's. Stopped for lunch and appetizers and drinks, not being a big seafood fan that limited options two just two items, not really excited about others but we decided to just have some drinks, fried green tomatoes and to split a $30 dollar burger. The waitress, very politely informed us there's a $12.00 up charge to split it, we'll it's too early for the dinner menu so we said cancel my mule drink, wife already got her wine so we'll just have the appetizer and actually go somewhere else for an actual meal. I had really high hopes for my dining experience at Belford's, as I had seen many places online talk about Belford's being a must try when visiting Savannah. I initially wanted to visit Belford's for dinner, but since we were already in the area, I decided to stop on in. In hindsight, I'm thinking I should have waited. It took about 15 minutes for our server to come to our table, but I gave our server the benefit of the doubt, since it did seem a bit busy. When I decided to eat there, I didn't take into account that it was Saturday, which means Brunch, not Lunch. So, I didn't want any of the breakfast items on the menu because I had already eaten brunch earlier. But I had already been seated and there were no better restaurant options that were close. So, I ended up ordering the closest thing to a lunch entree and got their Triple Blend Burger. My burger came out burnt on the outside and red on the inside. It was only red in sections of the burger. So, I'm not sure how they cooked the burger but it wasn't cooked evenly. I even tried to make the burger better by asking the kitchen for some horseradish aioli (I love horseradish) because I saw it came with another menu item. They ended up handing me regular mayo...or if it was the aioli then it was missing the horseradish that it was supposed to have. I ended up getting my meal comped and I went over to some pizza by the slice spot that was across the way and getting a jumbo slice of pizza for lunch instead. So, maybe my experience would have been better if I would have waited for dinner but brunch was not great. read more

The fish was okay but the vegetables were delicious. My associate had the Elk Chops and found them a bit bland. The restaurant was similar to New Orleans style decor. Brick or stone walls with an open concept. You could see all the cooks, chefs and open cooking flames. We were seated upon arrival as we had a reservation. A view of the street not far from a fireplace(?) My food was really good and offered at a fair price. I don't recall the name of my drink but it appears to be a standard there, I do recall enjoying it. My only concern was some of the staff and wearing their mask correctly. It has been some time since I visited but that stands out vividly. Not to mention it's Georgia half the state could care less about masks. A finale in Savannah with this fine meal on Valentine's eve that will live in infamy! Belford's is a Savannah highlight. We were greeted and seated promptly about 10 minutes prior to our reservation time, and expertly attended by Alalbert, our server for the evening. He introduced himself, as did we, and surprisingly we were addressed by name for the remainder of our meal. The food was incredible with my Valentine declaring she had the "best filet ever" cooked perfectly. My Salmon was sublime and the Short Rib was fall off the bone tender with a flavor explosion in the mouth. Desserts were off the chain, each having a taste profile both distinct and similar to the named preparation. It was a delightful experience to say the least, and I'll definitely be back next time I visit Savannah.
