Unfortunately I am disappointed in my recent moving experience. I am a repeat customer who absolutely loved my first move through Bell Air Moving company. Since I am a real estate broker I have actually referred multiple clients to the company and was excited to use them again for my personal move. The positives during this move: Movers showed up on time and they didn't break anything they moved. Negatives: Where do I start? 1) They didn't move all of my stuff because their truck got full. This is despite me indicating prior to my move that I had a 2 bedroom townhouse with a basement, living room, and dining room. It is only a 1000 sq ft apartment so it's not even a large 2 bedroom townhouse. 2) They complained during the entire move about how heavy and big the furniture was. People use moving companies for this exact same reason, because things are big and heavy. We do not hire moving companies to hear people complain about our furniture. We didn't even have any furniture that I would consider unusually big or heavy. 3) They charged me $40 each for two items because they said the items were big/heavy. Bell Air Moving moved these same items 3 years ago for me and didn't charge me. I used to like that there were no hidden fees with Bell Air Moving, but this is no longer the case it seems. 4) I had specifically indicated that partial packing would be needed, yet the movers had zero boxes and refused to take anything in the truck that wasn't packed. This was not the case with my last move through the company. 5) I paid over $2000 for the move which took 12 hours, which is ridiculous considering I still had to go back and forth at least half a dozen times with my compact car to move the remaining items they didn't move, and I still haven't finished. Keep in mind I moved 18 minutes away and from a 2 bedroom townhouse/condo! During my move 3 years ago through the same company the movers moved quick and worked hard. I cannot say the same thing about this time. If anything they worked slowly throughout the process. I would not have agreed to pay this egregious amount if it wasn't for the fact that I like dealing with the owner Nick and he helped me in a difficult situation three years ago when I needed movers last minute. I have been singing praises to people about Bell Air Moving to my friends and clients for the last three years. Unfortunately I have lost trust in this company due to this experience. I do not know how Bell Air Moving can make this right for me, but I definitely wanted to make management aware of my negative experience so that hopefully you can improve your service. To top it all off, I submitted this review to the company and wasn't planning on submitting it to yelp. I changed my mind when the company didn't even have the courtesy to write me a one line response about my concerns. I waited a few months for a response, so you can't say I wasn't patient! The most flawless move I've ever had. The movers were agile and efficient. Not even one glass broke. I would HIGHLY recommend these guys. I used Bell Air Moving twice now once in 2017 and 2022! I'm so grateful I had these 3 amazingly nice and supportive movers on Sunday. Moving is traumatic for most people and it's so hard to see all the things. Great attitudes that kept me laughing and smiling when I just wanted to cry when the storage unit didn't tell me they only open at noon on Sundays when my great movers came early (7:45AM for the 8-9AM window) which is great and had to wait for 1.5hrs till the place opened up. I know I was paying them, but I was so thankful for them not making me feel anymore bad than I already did and kept me smiling. Excellent care of my things and for me no hidden fees - I knew I was going to get the cash discount and the quote was in the ballpark of my estimate, even with the unexpected delay. We used Nick and his crew June 2019. First, I'm writing this review in Dec 2019 bc I feel that strongly that this is an A+ company! Our move was complicated in that our son was 3 months old for our move from Boston to Chicago. Nick helped make our transition flawless and came back for the necessary essentials for our final nights in Boston (pack n play, etc). His crew worked really hard on both ends never taking a break! This is maybe the fourth or fifth move with BelAir - while I hope I don't have to move again - my kids may and I highly, highly recommend Bell Air. I have written reviews on my past moves with them so don't have a lot of different things to add - other than they are simply the best. Reasonable price and great work - they protected all my furniture. They are efficient and much faster than seems possible. I did originally book another mover because I had moved to Rhode Island which is not really convenient for BellAir - but I ended up calling Nick a few days before the scheduled move to see if he could help me. The mover I had booked with waited until a few days ahead to change the rules - they way I could pay, the extra percentage, what I had to do, they wanted an EXACT inventory room by room and told me if I didn't have an item on the list they would not move it! I was stunned - I mean every wastebasket? Every rake or shovel? -- it was ridiculous and I was in tears. Nick managed to cover me and pick up the slack. We are what you'd refer to as "last minute Lucy's". We were unorganized, not completely packed, and just not quite ready to move. But unfortunately, we had a very tight timeframe and had to get it done. Well, Nick and crew were fast, professional, polite, and got the job done...and THENSOME. When it comes to having strangers touching your stuff, helping you pack, and literally seeing all of the crap you have collected throughout the years, it can honestly be embarrassing! I usually do not write reviews but this was really bad experience. On May 5th, I received a conformation email stating that I'm scheduled for move on June 1st in the morning. My landlord was being difficult and wanted us to move out on May 31st by midnight so I called Nick on May 30th to ask if the move could be moved to May 31st. Surprise, surprise.. I wasn't on the schedule even for June 1st. I told Nick that I have the confirmation email in front of me but he said, that he will check because he wasn't in front of his computer. He even told me that there might be a potential chance to do a very late move on May 31st but he will check an call me back. This was on May 30th at 8pm. Nick never called back even to say that the move won't be possible. I left a message on May 31st at 9am in the morning, still nobody called me back. Of course by this time no movers or trucks were available in entire Boston so we moved ourselves in our Honda Civic. But imagine if I were waiting for them to show up on June 1st and nobody came. Bell Air Movers I highly recommend Bell Air Movers for large and small jobs. The first time they moved me it was a large scale move and they were great. Nick was able come in and size up the job; he gave me a competitive estimate, and stayed within the estimate. When he and his crew arrived they were fast but more important they were careful of the walls, floor, carpet and the furniture. The first move involved a lot of fussy stuff that needed to be moved with care. There was a large office hutch with glass doors and multiple sections. The desk set was purchased at Furniture Land South and was installed by the team from Furniture Land. I was concerned about having it moved due to the need to disassemble/reassemble. I was also asking to have it moved to an upstairs office that required Bell Air to negotiate stairs with a sharp turn and low ceiling. The office hutch was delivered to the upstairs office in perfect condition and installed with draws and cabinet doors opening as good as new. On the other end of the scale I had some stuff from IKEA that was not expensive but it was fussy to take apart and could probably not stand up to any abuse. My IKEA leather couch and bedroom furniture was treated as well as my high-end desk. The impressive part was how Nick and crew were able to disassemble/reassemble furniture. I also liked the fact their drop cloths were clean and Bell Air wrapped items in padded cloth that other movers would have just plunked on the back of the truck. My second move was a smaller move that involved just a few items. Again, Nick gave a great price and he was very flexible. I needed a few items moved for my parents and we had last minute changes. Nick was able to accommodate a stop at Good Will so I could donate the excess furniture in the process of moving my parents. As a veteran of 2-moves with Bell Air I recommend their service and the price without hesitation. Nick and his team know how to move, it is their profession and not a side job. They know how to treat your furniture and Nick thinks a job through. He knows how to place items in a room to make unpacking easier, and his team can negotiate cramped spaces without leaving marks our your walls or hunks out of your furniture. In the past I have moved my self with the help of friends and family. Hiring Bell Air Movers was a GREAT decision. Bell Air knows how to move things without damaging them, they have the right equipment for the job, and no one was looking for lost screws, missing parts, or puzzling over how to reassemble things. The job was done on time - on budget and I had time to focus on the rest of the move. Spending money on a professional move was worth it!! If friends and family moved me and damaged the IKEA couch , that alone would have cost me more than the entire move. This was the first time we used movers and it certainly will not be the last! Our new lease started on September 1, the biggest move-in day in the Greater Boston area and the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I called several recommended moving companies who were either already booked, way overpriced, or not interested in working on a Sunday. I found Bell Air Moving on Yelp and decided to give them a chance. Nick was quick to respond to my online inquiry with an estimate. When I called to confirm everything, he was polite and professional. The movers showed up right on time the day of the move and quickly got to work. We were cursed with a thunder and lightning storm throughout most of the morning, but the guys pushed through it, stopping only when the rain was too torrential to bring furniture outside. Instead of standing around waiting, they used the time to disassemble a king size sleigh bed, and expertly wrap our new and antique furniture. Upon arriving at our new apartment, Nick and the guys delivered everything into the requested rooms. I had marked most of the boxes with the room destination, but for those items not marked the movers simply asked us where we would like it. Overall, they were fast, efficient, and meticulous. I called this company on a whim. I needed to move my apartment in Rhode Island to my storage unit in Massachusetts. When I searched moving companies Bel Air was one of the first to pop up. So I called. It was 5pm on a Saturday night. Nick answered and quickly asked me a few questions ( so he could accurately quote me). When I told him I wanted to move asap I was thrilled when he offered me Monday! Monday morning came and Nick and his crew arrived right on time. They quickly packed up my belongings( which were on the third floor of an older building with tight hall ways, might I add) and off they went to my storage unit. They moved multiple pieces of furniture including mirrored armoires, couches, coffee tables and dressers, as well as artwork and there was no damage. The pricing is very reasonable. You get quoted for an hourly rate and that's what you are charged, they even told me to go and grab their yelp deal. They really went above and beyond carrying items up to the third floor of a brownstone, and all the while were very nice about everything. I highly recommend Bell Air Moving. They work quickly, quietly (you could barely tell they were moving up and down the stairs very heavy stuff), they are very clean, and are priced reasonably. I used their services last August, when moving into a new apartment, from a third floor, with no elevator and very narrow staircase to a second floor with no elevator. Nick and his guys were attentive with my furniture and boxes. They provided blankets for the furniture and handled everything in a very careful way. I was super pleased with the experience already, but I got even happier when I saw how honest and kind Nick is: I had purchased a voucher at $65 for $100 service on Yelp, but I forgot to present it to him when I paid, so I called him that night to tell him about it. He could have said that it was too late already, but instead he said it was no problem, he accepted my voucher, and sent me back a $100 check. One month later, he called me back again, to check on me and if I received the check, and if I was happy with the service I received! I thought it was very thoughtful and nice of him. In the past, I had a couple of bad experiences with movers, the types of movers you find on September 1st, when everybody improvises as movers. These improvised movers cost me as much as Bell Air Movers, but the quality of the service was basically non-existent. I had several pieces of furniture ruined by careless handling, so this time I decided I would hire professional movers, even if it cost me a little more. I found Bell Air Movers here on Yelp and decided to hire them. I couldn't be happier with my decision: this was the best (and least stressful!) move ever!!! Excellent movers! I have used them three times and their work is perfection. They were on time, and moved things in a steady pace, while being very careful with valuable antique furniture. We recently had furniture from two floors of our home moved out and back for renovation work and they did a wonderful job at being mindful of the new paint and carpeting in narrow stairways in halls..
