I heard Cat Cafe but thought it would be a cafe and there would be some cats in a window. This is fully play time with a group of sweet adorable cats! We had so much fun! The cats are mostly relaxing with a few playing and doing funny cat things. The usual. Leaping around, looking for stuffed fish and trying to surprise each other. I have an idea that instead of going to see a therapist, go see the cats!! We were so tired when we got there. A cup of the most delicious coffee in the world also happens to be prepared at this magical place!! i had a warm cookie butter coffee and it was amazing!!! I got a taste of other flavors and they were unbelievable!! Truly the best coffee I've ever had. We had a long day and the cup of coffee in hand you get to sit in a two story area with the most joyful innocent creatures. They just want to make friends and learn how to make someone happy. This is good for everyone. By the time we left, we were smiling, relaxed and very happy. If you get a chance, please make a reservation for some wonderful cat affection. They don't care how your hair is cut or what shoes you're wearing. They are nice warm animals and to have a lovely cat for some affection is one of life's most wonderful pleasures. I've got a few friends who could really benefit from an hour with a beautiful ball of sweetness. Highly recommend.

It makes me feel good to support a business with a good cause! Win-win situation ahaha There's an upstair area alongside the downstair area. They used to provide slippers but recently changed to shoe covers instead. Drinks/snacks should be monitored just in case a kitty accidentally spills yours! The owners/workers are sweet and you can tell they care about the cats here a lot. Drinks are quite nice as well, but I primarily come from the cats. They do introduce new drinks/snacks so the menu doesn't get old for me. At some point, I believe they also offered discounted prices during weekday work hours and a monthly package, but I haven't followed up on the most recent details regarding that :) Glad to see this business doing well and hope to see it around for a long time! Parking nearby is horrendous, super busy even on the weekdays before the rush hour so I can't imagine weekends when people are out or other high traffic times. Get ready to make some rounds and pay for parking and be careful since there's very specific signage and times. The cafe itself is cute and cozy. Front area is a gift shop with lots of cat themed gifts and goodies like keychains, stickers, and such, and also some items from local and small artists too, which is neat. The cafe also has community events like movie showings ("The Cat Returns" was one of them which is a great choice) and cat yoga. If you're local, you can also get a time stamp if you are a frequent visitor. Definitely follow their socials for more information. There's reservations online and you can also do walk ins if it's not super busy. You can book for a 55 minute visit or a 30 minute visit. PRO-TIP: There's a discount for students, so if you want to be surrounded by some feline friends while you study or relax, great place to do so. You can hang your coat on the rack and there's a mini shelf area for your shoes. So you gotta walk in with socks! With each visit you can either get a hot cup of tea or a cold can or box drink from their fridge (sparking water, juices, etc.). Very refreshing and you can enjoy it in the cat area too. Sanitize your hands before and after visiting. There's lots of cats hiding around, sleeping, walking around, and some are super friendly and will go into your lap. There's toys you can play with the cats with and there's a wall of adoptable cats. Lots of seats or you can opt to sit on the floor with the cats too. There's relaxing lo-fi music throughout too. Pretty cool that they rescued 2 cats from Qatar and neat that we got to see them. As with all cats, some can be a bit spicy but it's usually just a warning teeth rub. I own cats so there's nothing new. I'm horribly allergic to the cat that specifically lives in my house, but I didn't get an allergy here, meaning that the cats are clean and well taken for. My favorite was a large sleepy orange boy, Ron (permanent non-adoptable resident) that was hanging out next to me the entire time.

Kenny and the staff are extremely kind and caring, and even when the place fills up they deliver excellent service. However, I thought the food we ordered was just ok. Ordered the #1 (Breakfast burrito), #5 (breakfast sandwich). Both items' composition was not the best. They were wrapped with the wrapping paper that didn't securely hold the entire sandwich/burrito securely. Especially for the sandwich, the cheese and meat were easily spilling out from the sides. The burrito was standard, but I felt the same way more or less regarding its structure. Additionally, the flavor was ok and good at best. The meal came with red salsas, which look to be house made since it was clear there is pickled onions and some other little things in it. Honestly it is an ok salsa, I'm not sure if this particular flavor is what I'm looking for to complement a breakfast burrito normally. We had an OK experience. The restaurant seems like a fairly small shop (run by family)! While I'm all for supporting local and mom/pop shops, I probably would not wait over 15 minutes for it. Maybe will have to try the bulgogi items next time! But for breakfast burrito/sandwich it was just ok to me.

But I have to praise that they do work fast and service is great. Indoor seating will be a tiny wait but is worth because the inside is so lovely, more like a Japanese tea room rather than some cafes that lean towards the clean modern usually all white interior look. We got seated at this cute little tea area almost felt like a sushi bar vibe. I was impressed that I could see that they had different water kettles labeled with appropriate temperatures for brewing their matcha. So I ordered for my date and me: matcha latte, matcha pie, and the cookie trio. Matcha latte was good! Nothing too crazy but still really good, I'm more of a hojicha person nowadays but solid drink and beautiful textured milk. The PIE! This is their best dessert and for good reason. Citrusy, but not terribly sweet, rich yet still has the subtle matcha flavor. I could see potential for a fall forward hojicha version of their pie one day. $10 for a slice but worth to share Cookie trio was a good pick too. My favorite was probably the Kinako oatmeal raisin cookie and I think would pair well with any warm drink. Matcha white chocolate cookie was not too bad, I think it benefited a lot from the bit of sea salt on top. The Hojicha chocolate walnut cookie was my second favorite! I don't see many hojicha desserts happening yet in matcha cafes so this cookie was a delight to have and honestly I've gotta try making my own. So warm but not too dominated by the chocolate. I wanna come back because they've got a matcha chestnut cake I wanna try next, just stellar for the desserts

Cute cafe on University Ave…read more We always go there when we visit Palo Alto. Their hot chocolate is really good. We get the Cioccolata in Tazza. It is thick and creamy (see video). Also, it is just perfectly sweet, not overwhelmingly so. We also tried their flourless almond cake - it was quite dry, brittle and tasted like toasted and ground almonds. Will return for the hot chocolate and pass the cake! There is no option for to-go (for drinks) and you pick your food at the billing desk itself. They serve with a smile.

Everything else about Cafe Venecia is a problem, and it has been a problem every time I've gone, including today. The outside tables are never cleared. Crumbs, coffee rings, somebody's abandoned napkin. No one comes out. Ask an employee about it and they'll point you toward a rag you're welcome to fetch and use yourself. That's the arrangement here -- you buy the coffee, you bus the table, you wipe it down, and the staff watches you do it. Today I asked for a bowl of water for my dog. The answer was no. Not "we're slammed, give me a minute," just no. So I asked whether they could put a little water in a to-go container instead, and was told, "Well, I can't give you a to-go container because we don't do them." Sit with that one. They don't do to-go containers, which means everything in the place comes in real dishware, which means the building is full of cups and bowls. They had exactly what I was asking for. They simply weren't going to hand one over, and they made sure I understood that by the tone. So: a café on University Avenue, with sidewalk seating, in a town where half the foot traffic is people walking dogs, has decided that tap water is outside its operating capabilities, and table cleaning is outside its operating capabilities, while charging Palo Alto prices is somehow well within them. There are a dozen places within three blocks that manage the coffee and the manners at the same time. Go to one of those. One star, and the star is for the beans.

Scott is amazing!…read more Just a few days before my son's birthday party, I realized I needed more than just cookies. I wanted unique cupcakes instead of the typical grocery store variety. After looking around, the first ones that caught my eye were Kick Ass Cupcakes. Even though it was only a couple of days before the party, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. The worst he could say was no! Not only did Scott say yes, but he made it happen. He created two dozen beautiful cupcakes in four incredible flavors: Orange Creamsicle, Strawberry Lemonade, Shirley Temple, and Lemon. They were absolutely delicious and a huge hit with both the kids and adults. The cupcakes tasted just as amazing as they looked. Even with the event date quickly approaching, he graciously moved forward and made the entire process feel easy and stress-free. We ordered 40 cupcakes--10 each of four different flavors--and every single one was outstanding. These Kick-Ass Cupcakes absolutely live up to their name. They were universally loved by everyone, from the birthday girl to every last guest. Thank you so much, Scott, for taking such wonderful care of us. We'll absolutely be back, and recommending you to everyone we know.
