Key Lime - M, Banana Chocolate Pie Mini, and Coconut Cream Mini

Nice cafe with several small tables for seating! Pleasant atmosphere and very welcoming. I came in the afternoon and there were plenty of medium sized and mini sized pies to choose from on the go. The parking lot is small and one-way but there is more parking behind the building structure. Quick and ready delicious pies!

The Giving Pies is a small pie shop in Willow Glen. The shop is tiny and somewhat disorganized but the service is friendly and efficient. The place did have a strong chemical/cleaner smell but we took the pies to go. We got medium versions of the apple crumble and pear almond pies. The reviews on both sides of this are right. The pies themselves are about $8 each which is kind of expensive considering you can buy a 10" pie at Whole Foods for about $15. They have a decent crust but the filling is minimal and somewhat bland. The only thing I taste is fruit and sugar. It needs additional ingredients to elevate the flavor. The crumb top is good, not too sweet. But again it's missing some flavor. Also it gets everywhere as you cut and eat this pie. It should stick to the fruit a bit more. Overall, it's somewhere between a 3 and 4 star but I'm rounding up.

My work catered The Giving Pies for a fall treat, so I got to try a vast variety of mini sweet pies from them! I loved all the ones that I tried but my favorites were definitely the banana chocolate pie and the chocolate raspberry. They also have gluten free options as well. The flavor options include classics like apple pie but also some unique ones like sweet potato. I'll definitely be paying them a visit next time I'm in the mood for pies!

This is a cute spot that sells amazing pies. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but the idea of supporting a business that gives back to the community. First off, If you are opposed to paying a little more for freshly made, community supporting company, this place is not for you. We got two mini pies, two quiches and two drinks. All of which, were FABULOUS! Each mini pie we had, had a buttery, flaky, and crunchy topping. The filling was nice and balanced, not too sweet. The mushroom quiche was so good that we actually went back and bought another one to take home. The owner greeted us and provided excellent service and gave some recommendations when I asked.

This was a very okay experience across the board: okay service, okay food, okay ambiance (not much seating away from the counter or door). Had the crab green onion pie for lunch. It felt like it was missing something: maybe tomatoes? The pie also didn't taste super fresh. Maybe the sweet pies are the real specialty here.

Got some mini pies here for the kids and they loved it! What kid will turn down chocolate pie, right? Blueberry was also quite a nice tasty treat. The quiches look really good too and will aim to try those in the future for breakfast/brunch.

Their mini pies are the perfect size for a little snack. I'm not usually big on sweets but their mini pies were the perfect size to satisfy my sweet tooth along with not being too sweet. I didn't get the name of the cashier who helped me but she was super helpful as I couldn't decide what I wanted

Drove up eager for a wonderful pie but walked away having learned the beautiful story of Voahangy and the Giving Pies. This woman owned business not only provides delicious and unique flavors baked into mini, small, or standard sized pies, she also manages to make sure every pie purchased means money flows back into the community. This small business donates a portion of their sales to programs like e-sports and other school fundraisers! Such a cozy little shop making and shipping out pies! I learned all of this from a lovely conversation with the server, Giovanni, who has worked at the giving pies for over four years! Thanks for the great service! I opted for the lemon and the banana chocolate mini pies. Then happily got a trio of savory quiches too! We tried the green onion crab one this evening. It was like a crab Rangoon baked in a crisp buttery shell! Thank you Voahangy, Giovanni, and the whole Giving pies squad for spreading yumminess and goodness in the world!

We were on a quest for an apple pie, so were excited to discover this shop. The service was helpful, welcoming and friendly. It's a small shop but they have a few dine in tables. We picked up both an apple and pear & almond pie. As mentioned in other reviews, the pies were a bit bland and underwhelming. Perhaps they had an off day. They also had a variety of savory pies, maybe those might be better.

I have been a few times now- really enjoyed the different flavors at Giving pies. The crust and crumble are also delicious. A few of my favorites are peach, raspberry and apple. There are three different sizes. The staff is friendly.

A medium apple pie and a mini salted caramel and coconut creme pie

These pies are delicious with a buttery, flaky crust. I grabbed a few minis to try different flavors and each so enjoyable, especially the chocolate salted caramel. It's a small store so be ready to grab and go, but be prepared for some cooked-with-love deliciousness!

This is such a cute and homey shop with so many pie flavors, it's hard not to be delighted! I came in on Wednesday around 10:30am and tried the coconut cream and banana chocolate. Coconut cream was a winner with a nice blend of soft and sweet into a tasty tiny crust. Banana chocolate still had good crust but the flavor was less defined and maybe the texture felt off due to the size? I also tried the biscoff cookie latte expecting it to be sweet like a Starbucks holiday drink. It was actually a nice blend where you weren't over sugared and could still taste coffee. I did end up with some unmixed cookie butter sips so maybe it's different hot. Service was also wonderful and while I had a little trouble getting my order down adding two mini pies that ended up being four because of having to repeat which flavors, I decided, why not?! I'm sure they would have fixed it if I asked and it ended up being the perfect gift for my lunch date. Overall a great experience and a perfect place to try all the flavors without eating a full size pie!

Was never a pie person until I had this place. The pies were so flavorful and not too sweet. We got the raspberry pie, coconut, and banana chocolate. My favorite was the coconut even though I'm not a coconut person. That says a lot! The strussel and crust paired so well with the creams. It gave a nice balance of soft and crunch. The drinks were also delicious! The lavender Ube had a strong Ube flavor that did not overpower the lavender. You can still taste the coffee in the drink. The raspberry pie mocha was just as good. I believe they added their raspberry pie filling in the bottom because we got some chunks of puree like texture. I am definitely coming back for the coconut pie!

Ask the Community - The Giving Pies

Hi, How would one describe the pie crust here? Does it differ whether it’s fruit, savory or custard filled?

How big or small are the mini pies? How much $ are the mini pies and fuller or big size? Thx

2 inch for the minis. 3 biters. Starts at $2.90 (online) Full size 9 inch starts at $31 online.

For nut allergies, on the pies with almond crumble, is it possible to not use almond crumble?

You can request a nut free topping but you have to be aware that despite our precautions, there's still a risk of cross contamination and depending on the allergy severity it might be better to forgo buying from our store.

Do we need to preorder mini pies or can walk in?

We have usually 10 of our 25 flavors in mini pies each day for walk-ins. If you are looking for a particular flavor, please do preorder.

Are the gluten free pies prepared separately from other pies? What precautions are taken for someone with a celiac/gluten allergy?

Are savory pies still on pre-order only? Do you sell pies by slices?

We have savory pies available for sale everyday at the cafe. The earlier in the day, the better selection. We do not sell pies by slices. But you have the option of mini and/or persona sizel pies for sweet pies and personal size pies for savory.

Hello, are you open on Mondays?

    Yes we are: 9-2pm.

Do they take debit or credit?

    Yes they do

Do u mail to San Diego area?

They do not currently ship pies, but follow their website for possible changes in the future: https://www.thegivingpies.com/faq

Does the new store require pre orders only?

    No walk ins are welcome!

Are you taking pie orders for Thanksgiving?

Hi! At the moment, we are only taking pre-orders for Thanksgiving from corporations. General public pre-orders will start one month from Thanksgiving.

Can the pies be customized with 2 flavors, half of one and half of another?

Hello! Unfortunately no. The fillings are liquidish and they would run into each other.

What are the most popular pie flavors?

    Lemon, pecan, banana chocolate

Will you be that the Stanford's Farmers Market tomorrow?

Unfortunately I won't be. I have to many orders to fill. So sorry.

How are people placing their orders? Giving Pies website doesn't seem to allow for pick-up at all, and delivery is option isn't for over 2 weeks.

I have blocked my system until after December 3rd because I'm all booked since then.

I read that Voahangy has gluten-free pies available, are there also any vegan options, by any chance?

Hi Angelique! Yes I do have Vegan options. The flavors for my vegan options are: blueberry, raspberry, peach, mango and pineapple.

Are these pies available at any Farmers Markets or only by order?

So far It's at Stanford Farmer's market on Tuesdays only. She takes orders as well.

They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.

When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. Dad got the Pork Chop and while it was overcooked, he loved the flavors happening in the dish and was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing treatment of the kale. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Overall a great experience. We would definitely come back!

Ordering is easy through kiosks, though the wait was longer than expected. Worth trying once if you're craving an egg sandwich, but I wasn't blown away. I recently stopped by Egghead Sando Cafe and ordered my food to go. Overall, I'd give it a 3/5. The concept reminded me a lot of Eggsl*t in Las Vegas (a gourmet egg sandwich shop with simple breakfast options) but I left feeling like the price didn't quite match the experience. I ordered The Scramble with added avocado, plus spicy mayo and spicy ketchup. The self-service kiosks made ordering quick and straightforward, and once you start the ordering process you can actually see detailed descriptions of what's included in each sandwich (the menu displayed on the wall doesn't provide those details). If you're deciding what to order before getting to a kiosk, you'll probably have questions. The cafe also offers coffee drinks and tater tots as sides, making it easy to turn your sandwich into more of a meal. The wait was a little longer than I expected, especially for a relatively simple breakfast sandwich. The staff was friendly when I interacted with them, although ordering through the kiosk meant there wasn't much direct customer service. As for the food, it was decent but didn't completely win me over. The sandwich itself was satisfying, but I wasn't a fan of how crispy the cheese) was, it felt a little overdone for my taste. The rest of the sandwich was enjoyable, just not memorable enough to justify the price. At over $15 after adding avocado, it felt expensive for what is ultimately an egg sandwich. The cafe itself is clean and has cute seating if you choose to dine in, giving it a modern, casual brunch vibe. Overall, Egghead Sando Cafe isn't a bad breakfast stop, but I don't think it offers enough to stand out from similar concepts. If you're curious or craving a breakfast sandwich, it's worth trying once, especially if you're already nearby. Just be prepared to pay a premium for a fairly straightforward meal.

I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good. If you are in Willow Glen and you don't stop here you are missing out on something wonderful. Be kind to one another

When we were seated, we were given a list of items that were not available. I originally wanted to try the pancakes but ended up ordering the chicken sandwich instead. This was genuinely one of the worst chicken sandwiches I have ever had. It was extremely gristly, fatty, and made with dark meat, which felt like an odd choice for a chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.
