Having eaten here many times now I thought I'd finally write a review...the service is good. Although it can get really busy and crowded here at dinner time they still do a good job of getting your order and keeping your glass full. The food has always been good and I have tried everything from a daily special to the standard items on the menu. The meatloaf plate with veggies has been my favorite! The catfish and bbq plate has been great too. Won't say the speed of the food getting to you is fast when it is crowded but all things considered it isn't slow either. Besides there is often live music to listen too so what's the rush? Only thing I can caution a visitor about is to make a reservation or there might be a wait on a Friday or Saturday night as this place is usually hopp'in! This place was so yummy I had to take my husband back the next day! The strawberry salad is epic! Very fresh with a home made poppy seed dressing. The home made potato salad was better than my mothers. The chicken pot pie was flaky and the perfect size. Our party shared desserts both days. The grits pie topped with fresh strawberries and cream was not at all what I expected. It was warm with a delightfully crunchy texture. The oatmeal caramel pie had both my husband and I exclaiming in unison "oh my gosh" . The service was friendly and quick. We came down to Tennessee to visit friends. They recommended dropping into Bell Buckle to eat dinner at the Bell Buckle Cafe. Bell Buckle is a town of 400 that is south of Nashville. I had never heard of it but people come from all over the states to eat and listen to talented country musicians at the Bell Buckle Cafe. Home made food, southern style, was a great introduction to the American south for us Canadians. If your near Nashville take the time to head on down. read more

Go go go. Worth the beautiful drive into the neat town of Bell Buckle. Wonderful staff, no changing tables for young kids in bathrooms. Had to change my kids' diapers in the hallway to the bathrooms, but that was the only downfall. Great food. We live in Colorado and ate there 10 years ago. There is not a better dining experience in Bedford County than the Bell Buckle Cafe. Lines are long on weekends so come early or late. I recommend not leaving without trying the fried biscuits. While they are fairly savory they come served with an applesauce type of dip so some people prefer this as a dessert rather than an appetizer. Either way, they're a local favorite. If you come on a weekend expect a side of banjo or guitar picking to come with that pulled pork sandwich. read more

THIS IS THE PLACE TO PICK!!!!!! WOW! Exceptional food and experience! What a step back in time. The country drive was near perfect. Enjoy the grazing cows, gorgeous green foothills, and imagineable dream country homesites with shady old trees spaced apart just so! You can just "feel it" as you walk through the old wooden door entrance. When you walk in you will see items for sale such as local honey, t-shirts, and other sundries. While I waited for my food I listened to bluegrassy music while gazing out the windows adorned with red country curtains. I could see an enormous weeping willow tree dancing slowly in the wind. I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, perfectly seasoned and salted fried potatoes, fresh country sliced tomatoes, and turnip greens served with the option of green pepper hot sauce. Each item was better than you could imagine. The homeade chocolate cobbler was thick, rich, and swimming around a large dollop of vanilla bean ice cream. What do you do when you find yourself in the middle of TN country with a hungry infant? You search Yelp for a place to stop! We were in a big group so I got to taste a few different orders. I love the bellbuckel, great service, prompt and friendly. Veggie plate for $7.95 - delicious, their red new potatoes buttery and soft. Red beans and rice, cucumbers and corn mush, all a tasty little snack and enough to split between two. Charming little cafe if you are on a back roads trip. Kinda disappointed. Had the meatloaf, which was a bit bland. The sides were barley typical. My wife had the BBQ pork it was so so. She asked for fried cornbread, they took the fried cornbread and put it in the deep fryer. read more

You guys. This place is so good! Okay, I may be biased since I have used to live in Bell Buckle and ate here all the time. But really that makes it even better because I still want to eat at this place any time i'm in the area. They have delicious chicken strips, pulled chicken, and grilled chicken breast. The smothered chops are sinfully delicious! Burgers are the bomb as well. Not to mention the veggies! If they have fried corn, get it. Just do yourself a favor. Wonderful service and such a good meal. The veggies were all so good especially the fried okra and fried corn. I had the chicken pot pie which was more puff pastry then contents so would probably pick something different next time. I look forward to returning and trying some of the desserts. read more

Excellent food! Nice friendly place that doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food and service speaks for itself.

We were here two weeks ago and they served our grandson completely RAW chicken tenders. Not undercooked, RAW like a pack of raw chicken at the grocery store. The manager told my wife they would bring more chicken and when my wife told her we didn't want anymore chicken, the manager started getting upset at my wife!!! Even when we paid for the rest of our meal, the manager was not apologetic and was actually pointing her finger at my wife and stating that she didn't understand that they had a new cook. This was only the second time we were at this restaurant and both times the food was excellent. The service not so much. On our first visit, there was only 2 in our party and we were seated right away and served quickly. On this second visit, we had a large group and they were kind enough to reserve some tables for us on a busy Saturday. We actually felt a little guilty being seated ahead of others waiting. Our group was assigned 2 waitresses. One had about a third of the group and the other waitress had the other two thirds. The one third was finished eating and leaving while the two thirds were still waiting for their food. I guess they just aren't used to large groups. This was the cutest little old country café. We were vacationing in Nashville and this was our final "eat out" meal. It was the BEST! The food was delicious, the service was GREAT, and that ooey gooey grits cake was to die for! This is the type of place you expect to see when exploring a new little town. The outside looks quite inviting. Once you step indoors, the staff is super friendly, the establishment is cozy with lots of things to keep your eyes busy while waiting to be seated. The weekend I went there was about an 1.5 to 2 hr wait. It was a festival weekend so I understood. I recommend when you arrive to put your name in first and then venture into the little shops etc. Once seated, the menu looked diverse with lots of options and what appeared to be reasonable pricing for the options. However, once the food arrived it looked a bit bare. The food was decent, but it wasn't at all what I was expecting. I thought it would be a bit more like a home-cooked place with hardier portions. We were honestly a bit disappointed that we waited for 1.5 hrs to get something we could have ordered at the nearby coffee shop who also serves burgers. All that to say, the experience was still enjoyable and I'm glad I went. I recommend going if you are in a pinch and the wait isn't too long. Otherwise, you are better off going down to the other side of the walk way and ordering something from the coffee or ice cream shop. read more

One bite of the smothered pork chops and I thought I had died and gone to Southern food heaven. Oh my goodness, their food is good. Fried corn and turnip greens were perfection, and the macaroni and cheese was creamy and delicious. I loved my squash casserole, and I can be darn picky about squash casserole. My only complaints were that the fries were frozen (who orders fries here? My husband!) and I suspect the chicken fried steak was, too, although the gravy was homemade and delicious and the steak was tasty. We had cobbler (blackberry for me, apple for him) for dessert and it was as good as any my mom ever made--flaky, and with lots and lots of fruit. Can't wait to go back. read more

Most everything we have ordered has been great, but there have been a few occasions where the veggie sides have clearly tasted canned. Try the BBQ plate. Went through Bell Buckle today on the way to pick some farm fresh strawberries in Wartrace and found this gem! Good food for a very reasonable price. Yummy veggies and fabulous fried biscuits for desert at the recommendation of our friendly waiter. Nothing fancy, just good home cooking in a neat atmosphere in the middle of Tennessee. Our Motorcycle group recently went to the Bell Buckle Cafe. What a GREAT experience. Our Waitress, Adelia (Adie) was spectacular, carrying nine glasses of sweet tea in two hands. She demonstrated Old Time Southern Hospitality at it's BEST. Smoked Pork Chops, Greens, and Vinegar Slaw was my Fare, with Grits Cake as dessert. Yum !!!!!! Tastes Like More !!!!
