I ordered a Frozen themed cake for my daughter's 4th birthday party, which was 2 weeks ago. I sent a picture of what I wanted. The cake decorator and I decided one cake, instead of the 2 tier cake in the picture. I was responsible for the Frozen figures. When I picked it up I was in a hurry and just ran in and grabbed it. When we got to the party and opened the box, I was extremely disappointed. The cake I paid over $100 for looked NOTHING like the picture I sent, and the quality of the cake decorating was terrible. In comparison to the pictures they have on their website, this cake was of poor quality. The fondant was bulging out in some spots. The "snowflakes" looked like random shapes, instead of the pretty, uniformed snowflakes in the picture. None of the details in the picture I sent are on the cake. The only good thing about the cake was the taste. It was moist and not too sweet. I called the following Tuesday, the next day they were open, and I expressed my disappointment. The lady I spoke to asked me to email the picture I took of the side by side. I sent it later that evening. By Friday, I still hadn't heard from anyone, and I called back to let them know. I believe I spoke to the same lady, who told me the cake decorator would be in @1:30 and she would pass it along. I never heard from them. This is simply poor customer service. I ppsted the side by side of the cake I wanted (on right) and what I received (minus the Frozen figures) in the pictures and videos section. As you can see I could've bought a better looking cake at Walmart for less than half the price. UPDATE: I never did hear back from them, and they did nothing to try and make up for it. With such positive reviews and listed among the best of Kitsap Bites, I figured Bella Bella would be as beautiful and delicious as its name. Unfortunately "Bella Bella" was more "Benal Benal." Before stepping inside, I had already given it the benefit of the doubt, as the storefront was sandwiched between automotive businesses. But one cannot judge a book by its cover, as the location doesn't always represent the quality of the business. Upon entering, I was slightly dismayed by how few cupcakes were in stock. It was also disheartening because the store was full of open-air displays of what appeared to be authentic edibles. My heart dropped as the woman ahead of me decided to purchase half a dozen, eliminating almost all variety. (Had there been a dozen available, I'm pretty sure she would have taken the lot.) As I made my order, the cashier in heavily-ripped jeans apologized for being unusually low in stock, for which I don't directly fault her. I was more put-off by the egocentric customer ahead of me that didn't consider the person behind her. (This trait is unfortunately commonplace in WA. I wish businesses would take into consideration that when you cater to one, you alienate others. Always consider: is this order worth losing business? One poor experience may result in thousands of dollars in missed revenue, simply because a customer won't return.) As for the cupcakes themselves, the standard "Chocolate Chocolate" was nothing to write home about. Yes, the quality exceeds supermarket standards, but there was nothing deliciously decadent or impressive about it. As a specialty bakery, customers have higher expectations; we want an "experience" that cannot be easily duplicated from home. Presentation-wise, most of the toppings I saw were too busy. With such a small cake canvas, the more you dress it up, the messier it becomes. Clean lines and a light hand is key when dressing cakes. If you want to get really creative, perhaps increase the diameter? (Plus you can charge more!) I write this review not to be cruel or dissuade customers from supporting a locally owned business. There is no profit in pure negativity. I want Bella Bella Cupcakes to live up to its name. To have been in business for over a decade is quite a feat, but one must never become complacent, that's where mistakes happen. There's always room for improvement. Fantastic macarons and cupcakes. Be sure to preorder, as they seem to sell out, at least by 5:30 pm. I am impressed with their customer service. They rectified a problem by delivering my order first thing the next morning, and the cupcakes were pretty and delicious. Tip: the macarons are my favorite. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to find a quality cake in that short of a time span when most bakeries I was finding had a 2 month prior deadline . I messaged them and met Stacy, the Cake Specialist, who was super responsive and met with us that same week for a tasting! The shop was very cute, very clean and the personality there is nothing less than perfect. We chose a 3 tier red velvet cake with such a simple and elegant design,+cupcakes to compliment our semi rustic wedding at Kitsap Memorial St Park and were expecting a good cake...but.. holy crap! The cake was STUNNING. I mean, mid reception speech I caught a glimpse of the cake table was astonished to see such a beautiful accent to our perfect day! Then we cut the cake and of course smushed a a little on each other and both our eyes buldged when we tasted the frosting. PHENOMENAL!! We could wait to eat a slice and I don't think I actually ate much else that night! Every guest mentioned the cake and how delicious it was! The cake was moist, the frosting: creamy smooth buttercream (I actually ate all of mine and stole a bit from the hubby!) Our leftovers were actually fought over by the family! I felt a little bad that I was taking so long, (I've gotta pick some for my friends and share the love) but the girl behind the counter was very patient with me and was very honest with her recommendations. I've only been here once and I've been dreaming of coming back ever since. I stopped in on a whim and decided to pick up two flavors. I like to judge a bakery based on its plainest flavor and one with flair (that's to my liking). I ended up with a very vanilla and a strawberry/white chocolate. I've read good and bad things regarding their cupcake bases, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The cake itself is light, fluffy, moist, and tender - the way a cake of any sort should be. As for the frosting, well, truth be told, I shoved a fat finger into the icing of the vanilla cupcake first and was astounded at just how good it was. I'm a big proponent of minimal icing on cupcakes and cake. I think the inches and inches of frosting being slathered on to cakes these days is ridiculous and needs to stop. That being said, my secret shame on this particular day was eating all the frosting. I managed to plow through it all and leave *just enough* on the cake for it to be enjoyed the way I like it. The frosting is smooth, flavorful, and not overtly sweet. Between the cake and the frosting at Bella Bella, they're giving other places in town a run for their money. The strawberry-white chocolate one had the same cake base, but a blob of strawberry frosting in the middle (which was a deterrent), but again, the frosting was exquisite. The combination of white chocolate and strawberry was great, though I would have liked to see some of the white chocolate flavor/shavings in the cake. But that's just me. I think its great that there's a cupcake place in Silverdale now. I truly enjoy cupcakes and I often drive all the way to Bellevue, WA just to get m cupcakes. However I was not impressed by their cupcakes. I went sometime in the afternoon, and ordered a redvelvet cupcake and when I ate their cupcake it was not moist, and the top of the cupcake was too hard. I'm not a cupcake connoisseur, but I go to cupcake joints a lot and it was not up to par. The atmosphere was cute considering it seemed like a family orientated place. I saw kids behind the counter and a little girl was helping me at the register. I did not order coffee from Bella Bella's but the gentleman before me did and a young boy, around the age of 12? Was pulling the grinds and shots. I am a barista and make coffee everyday and having a child make my drink is something I would never want. Vegan cupcakes are NOT vegan. I wanted to like this place and took my family here on a day they serve vegan cupcakes because my son has a dairy allergy. His allergy is not super sensitive unless he comes in direct contact with dairy so we were shocked when he had a bad reaction and developed hives all around his mouth. When I asked the baker about the ingredients he said "we are not an allergy free facility but the frosting DOES have a milk derivative." I thought it was weird that Bella Bella is between two auto maintenance places, but I didn't notice any noise or smell from the other businesses once I was inside. And holy moly! I stopped by to pick up some cupcakes for a work function and ended up walking out with 2 dozen mini cupcakes. I got Very Vanilla, Apple Pie, Salted Caramel, and Peanut Butter Cup. They were all fantastic but the runaway favorite was the Apple Pie. Because the frosting is so rich, having small bite-size versions is a great option for people who want to indulge but don't want too much. I don't eat a lot of sugar so it was a good size for me. Also, the guy behind the counter was very polite and prompt. He loaded them up into a little box that was designed to keep them from sliding around and touching the walls and each other so each little cupcake was in pristine condition after a drive in the car. read more

What can I saw...I love my sweets so I knew I had to stop here while in town. My first impression was surprise when I pulled up and the cupcake shop was located next to a Goodyear and another car shop. Upon waking inside though, they had cupcakes (approx 10 different types) and macaroons (3 different types). I got the Mexican Hot Chocolate, Salted Caramel, and Mississippi Mud. I also got a Toffee Macaroon. The price for all was just under $11. The macaroon was good. The cupcakes were amazing. My favorite was the Mexican Hot Chocolate. Revised rating........ I went back 7/1/2011 and bought 6 cupcakes for 16 dollars, not a great price, but a little high. The selection was much better, the cupcakes were pretty good, a little dry, but tasty. The frostings are really sweet, I and my family are more of a whip cream frosting fans, but all in all, not a bad cupcake. I contacted Bella Bella cupcakes first after seeing that on several homes that we looked at people had cookies or baked goods in them so when we had our open house we called in Bella Bella and got their mini cupcakes, not saying that their cupcakes sold the house but our house sold super quick and there were NEVER cupcakes left. We got lemon raspberry, salted caramel, and peanut butter cup. I really wish i could have had one. SO, a few months later when I was planning a very special birthday I decided to contact them again about a custom cake. I sent them the pic and we hashed out everything to the detail over email, it was great. The cake Dexter the TV show (adult not kid) so lots of fake blood, it was great. The cake was a huge huge hit and all I had to do was go pick it up and this time when I did I got myself a mini cupcake of my own. We were very disappointed when we picked up 10dz cupcakes and they were not the color that was ordered. I asked for red and yellow buttercream frosting and dark blue cream cheese frosting. The red was coral and the blue was baby blue. The yellow was fine. Also the frosting was already dried out and crunchy. When questioned about the color we were told that the deep colors couldn't be done because it would change the flavoring. This information should have been explained at the time of order. The cake part had good flavor (that is the only reason the rating is a 2), but was also dried out on the top of the cake. My wife and I have been here 5 times now so I feel I've had sufficient time to formulate an opinion and give a quality review of Bella Bella Cupcakes. My wife and I moved to Bremerton, WA back in April of this year (2011) and we've previously live in Dallas, TX and in the Northeast (CT, RI, and NY) so we are used to being around good cupcake places and chains, such as, Sprinkles Cupcakes and Gigi's Cupcakes. My wife and I are pretty big cupcake fans and we typically like to get cupcakes about once a week or once every two weeks... When we moved up here my wife found out about Bella Bella and she gave it a try back in May and I was gone at the time so I didn't get to have a taste but after I got back we went together and I musy say that this place is GREAT! The first visit my wife and I made there (together) they offered about 8 or 9 flavors on the day that we went and the had a pretty good selection of flavors and since then they've even added some more flavors! We went most recently on Friday, July 8th, 2011 and we got a half-dozen cupcakes. Bella Bella now has a schedule out of what cupcakes they offer and what day they are available, which is awesome, because this is what most of the big and well-known cupcake chains do (like Sprinkles and Gigi's) So far my wife and I haven't tried a single flavor that we didn't enjoy and I think both of us agree that our favorite is the Salted Caramel! Haha. Overall I have to give Bella Bella Cupcakes 5 Stars because they offer a great selection, they're always fresh and delicious, and they serve you with the utmost friendliness and they love it when customers come in to their store! I'll speak briefly about the Viking Ice Cream because my wife and I tried it. She had the Orange Cream and I had vanilla I believe and it was soooo good and after we had some the lady working there told us that the smaller serving only has like 40 calories or something! It's so healthy for as good as it tastes! haha Pros: Cupcakes are fresh a delicious, Bella Bella offer a variety of flavors, Staff is always friendly and helpful, Ice Cream is great too Cons: The location is a little weird being by two tire/auto shops but if you're a cupcake fan like I am then you'll find your way there and it doesn't mater where they're located! lol Neutrals: I can't say the prices are a pro or con because there's not many places around that offer cupcakes and especially the variety, quality, quantity of Bella Bella. Of course Seattle has some places that a great but for Bremerton/Silverdale it is what it is... and the prices are reasonable. Tips/Info: Check the Bella Bella website or Facebook page to find their flavors and a schedule of when they are serving those flavors so you can go on a day that has the flavors that you want the most! I hate to say it, but it took me forever to find this place. Its kind of shoved in a very awkward place...and I'm sure that they probably have this issue a lot with other customers. At first I noticed their selection...it left more to be desired. They only had about 4 cupcake flavors out (it might have been 5, I honestly can't remember, just that it wasn't very many..), a coffee flavored, lemon/raspberry, bacon..and I can't remember the other. I decided on the lemon raspberry cupcake. It was alright. It was almost TOO much lemon and not enough raspberry. The cake was kind of dry, and the frosting was WAY too sweet. The frosting was also hard (not like rock hard, but like it had been sitting out too long), and even though it was too sweet, I felt the frosting to cupcake ratio was a little low. I was really disappointed because honestly they reminded me of out of the box cupcakes :( The best part, even though it was too sweet was the frosting. I felt I over paid, my husband also got a cupcake (the coffee flavored one) and it was almost $6.00. We love Bella Bella for a sweet treat! The inside is exactly what I picture an upscale cupcakery to be. Their cupcakes will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. My personal favorite is the heavenly coconut and it truly is heavenly. They also have minis in case you don't want to go overboard on your diet or have your kids bouncing off the walls when you get home ;) They have a little bit of everything: espresso, ice cream, candies, cupcakes and local milk. I've heard so much about them, but they were super hard to find. A cupcake place inbetween two auto places, kind of odd. The big O (Oreo) cupcake is AMAZING becuase it has oreo cake, not just chocolate with oreo frosting, like most places. But the pumpkin really disappointed me. It tasted like a bland carrot cake with pumpkin added in. and the frosting had pretty much no taste at all. For a small treat every once and awhile it's okay, but it's way too expesive to for one cupcake. read more
