My friends planned a baby shower for me here. The food was delicious !! They make such a good sauce and thier pizza has perfect crust, but it was it was a great dinner menu as well!¡ Everything was made right ( authentic and delicious!l ). The chicken is tender , the lobster ravioli had a lot of llobster meat and the stuffed mushrooms were heaven. Nella and Josepe ( Pino) were so accomidating and made us feel very special. It was a little piece of Italy. After all , Pino still has his accent ! This place looks small from the outside , but we had a really nice set up. Bella La has become a go-to spot for our family since my husband's family has been coming here for years. The service is always friendly, and the pizza is really good. We're big fans of the lasagna and baked ziti too. This time we ordered out, but we love to dine in as well. When we dine in, we love starting with the complimentary bruschetta. Brought my dad here for his bday, being one of his fav Italian places (and he is Italian!) with my mom, aunt, and grandma. I've only dined in the dining area a couple times - but was presently surprised but the very relaxed ambience - even if the place is a little dated. It almost makes it feel more authentically Italian in a way (Jersey-style?) Our waitress with the blonde hair and lovely outfit (think I remember having her as a server before!) was AWESOME. She was even kind enough to mention how awesome I am - haha. Gotta love that. The crab stuffed mushroom and eggplant rollatini was so good. My main meal was delicious as well! Crab stuffed shrimp with penne vodka sauce and sautéd spinach on side. The pizza was yummy. And it's BYOB! The front of the place is a more brightly lit, starker, in and out pizza area. I was surprised to see a dining table in that section but I guess it was because of social distancing? The one guy at a table had his head down, possibly sleeping. Not sure if it was a delivery guy or random guy but I put a couple dollars by his arm. Hoping that made him feel better! Reliably good pizza and dishes at a good price. This place has become my go to in the area. The owner is pretty personable too. The pizza is not salty. That is very unique in the NY NJ area in my opinion, as I often need to chase eating pizza with at least 1 glass of water to detox from the salt. Was recently there for my mother in law 85th birthday. We were a large group and made an early reservation. Our table was ready and Nella made sure our pre ordered appetizers were ready when we got there. It's BYOB. So we brought some wine I had the chicken parmigiana. A staple. It was good. Stopped here for some pizza on my lunch break. The pizza is mediocre. It tastes like it's been sitting out for awhile and it's about 1pm. Either that or it's simply old. I stopped here on a trip into town to eat a couple slices. I looked it up on Yelp, Google and Facebook who all had great reviews at the time. Boy was I mislead. Its possible that if you come here on a busy night or in need of a large order MAYBE you will have a different experience than the one I did or at least that's what I gather from these great reviews vs my experience and others I see here. Just have some pepto at hand if you do choose to roll the dice with this place. I think it's very safe to advise everyone DO NOT EAT THE PRE-MADE PIZZA sitting at the front. It's clear that this place keeps re-heating and re-cheesing old pizza as long as needed until it's bought. This is a disgusting, vial and unethical business practice that could seriously get someone ill. My cousin's and I stomach hurt almost immediately after trying to eat a slice. My pizza had a very hard and tough crust texture. Not the kind hard crust like pizza normally has. The cheese however was even more disturbing. I took a bite into the slice and at first wondered what kind of cheese they use, the texture was off on this too. I quickly learned there were layers. A top layer of cheese that looked rather normal and a bottom layer of cheese that looked like goo... GOO! An almost slimy consistency. At the start of my order I also order a regular salad. I think it's a bit hard to mess up a regular salad. I was proven wrong. This salad consisted of cabbage chopped in these huge 4 inch blocks and they just piled an assortment of pickled veggies in the middle of the plate. I've had salads from many pizzerias so my expectations are not outlandish but this just looked very odd and definitely was not what I was expecting. After the pizza I was pretty disgusted by this place and returned my food. Upon the first Bite of the Slice it was straight nauseating The cheese had an awful flavor with an over chewed bubble gum consistency literally looked like it was dripping Mayonnaise that's the best way I can explain it. It tasted beyond Gross. So I ate the crust and took the cheese off the slice and noticed a weird pus like material behind the Cheese. But that wasn't the worst part the worst was when I got my Grilled chicken Cesar salad The Picture below is how that garbage was presented. And it's (GRILLED CHICKEN) yet the "chef" in the kitchen microwaved my chicken like 5 times. WHO SERVES MICROWAVED CHICKEN ON A SALAD!!! And still that's not the WORST part... at this point I was beyond angry so I said I'll just take one bite maybe its not that Horrible. ........ that one bite Alone ... was the worst thing I've ever tasted in my entire Life.. the Dressing was expired or mixed with Paint.. and the Crouton tasted like wet Paint and stale like dry dog food. Literally felt like I ate Rubber chicken and salad with Paint dressing with paint chips for croutons! This place is atrocious and hands down won the title as the (WORST PIZZERIA) I've ever gone to!!! So if you ever see it on the right side of the road while driving and decided to get curious ... You Been Warned! I had Diarrhea for a day after this rancid food. This place was very disappointing. I had the chicken parm sub and my boyfriend had the sausage Stromboli. We were not impressed. The chicken parm sub had a weird tangy flavor almost like vinegar and the mozzarella was not fresh quality mozzarella. Not sure where they get their cheese from but it was just not good. Just tasted weird. Not to mention there was barely any chicken on the sub. I was left with a lot of bread. The dough on the sausage Stromboli was soggy and barely toasted. Also same issue with the cheese in the Stromboli, not good. All this and they're overpriced. Definitely won't be ordering from there again. read more

I pass this place everyday on my ride home, so I've always wanted to try it. The problem is, the parking lot is right off 18, so I'm usually driving too fast to pull in without getting rear ended. Friday the stars aligned, no one was behind me, and I pulled in. There was some variety in the specialty slices, but not as much as I would expect on a Friday night. I did a buffalo slice, pepperoni and pepper, and a 3rd I can't remember. The buffalo right out of the oven was ok, the crust almost has a sweet, buttery flavor, and I liked the sauce on the chicken (probably just franks). The problem is once the pizza cooled off it was rock hard like it was old to begin with. Toasting it turned it to a cracker, so there was no saving it. Maybe I'll try a fresh pie another time, but I'd avoid the window slices unless you are eating it there. read more

I rated Bella three stars during my original visit in 2012, and didn't update it after the second one. This time we went strictly for pizza, and what a different experience that was. Three of us decided to order a large pie. We looked at the dried-out slices already on display. Only one looked appetizing: a single slice covered completely with dark mushroom caps, with seasonings coating the 'shrooms. I asked to verify that they were mushrooms, and got an affirmative answer. So right away I ordered a half plain, half mushroom pizza. The pizza was served shortly after. It looked half-baked, and I put my finger right through the crust. We had it baked some more. It came out looking crispy, but looks can fool. The whole thing was a soggy mess. More importantly, the mushrooms weren't the same as what we had seen. These were a very few and very thin pale slices tossed haphazardly onto half the pie. So thin that they curled up. Not a cap in sight. Not the dark, beckoning mushrooms of the leftover counter slice. I asked the owner what was different about THOSE mushrooms, and he said "Those have garlic." How can you take the order right after I've asked about those mushrooms and serve the sparse crap we got? The whole pizza was totally devoid of flavor, no matter how much garlic, pepper flakes and oregano we sprinkled over the slices. The sauce was thin; the cheese wasn't abundant, and well, I've already talked about the mushrooms. This pizza may have been the absolute worst I've ever had in New Jersey. Moreover, when I went to pay the bill, it was very high. I had asked the price of the pizza before I placed the order, and it was given as xxx plus tax. At the end, we were charged for three drinks, when the only drink was a single bottle of water. And we were sitting at a table right in front of the owner the whole time! He removed the charges for the two drinks, but it still seemed high. I wanted to get out of there, so I just paid it and we left, not wanting to stop to do the math. This is a comment that I made after my first review, when we had eaten in the dining room. There is no such thing as an itemized bill at this place, so diner beware. They can - and will - charge you anything and get away with it unless you take the time to add up what you've had. While I usually am of the opinion that different people have different tastes, I will state wholeheartedly that anyone who thinks this is great pizza hasn't ever had great pizza. read more

Never experienced dining in there before, but delivery took 1.5hrs. we live right around the corner on tices lanes and lake ave - literally a 2min drive. I'd understand if it was a weekend and they were busy but we ordered at 7pm and received our food at 8:45pm. The clam linguini is alright, they use baby clams and put a few clam shells in however the sauce is lacking something to be desired. Spaghetti and meatballs pretty standard, the meatballs are moist but lack flavor. Overall, mediocre food, terrible delivery experience. Sorry :( read more

We ordered a pie for delivery. What we got was two old half pies put together with cheese melted on top. When the two halves were made? I have no clue. We asked for half of it to be pepperoni. I think they counted each piece. Very sparse with the toppings. Underneath the pie was all black which tells you that it was reheated way too much. The only reason we didn't use Frank's Pizzeria was because they did not deliver. Frank's is way better on all levels. You need to make a fresh pie whenever someone orders a pie. Not cobble slices together and melt cheese over it! I don't think we'll eat from here again. Not with Mancini's and Frank's less than a mile away. Time to step up your food game. The pizza is very doughy and dry and the tomato sauce had no taste. Needed to feed a bunch of people and our usual pizza spot was closed so after reading other reviews, chose Bella La Pizzeria. We got 5 pies and a number of apps/sides. The apps/sides were all decent and so were the overall prices (hence the generous 2 stars). The workers were also very nice which is why I feel bad writing this. Unfortunately the pizza itself was not good at all. All 5 pies (different types) were very under seasoned and needed more sauce. The sauce used on the pizza is flavorless and lacking salt big time. Best pizza growing up. I didn't really like pizza until I started eating here. The thin crust with just the right amount of crunch on the bottom but tender right above that. The sauce and the toppings so hot that you give yourself a second degree burn on the roof of your mouth. mmm mmm. The pizza is thin crust, NY style. You can get a Sicilian of course, if you like thick crust. Unless you buy by the slice, everything is made fresh to order in an old fashioned oven, not the new assembly belt ovens. You can taste the difference. I brought my wife here a few years ago and we enjoyed it as I blathered about my childhood and eating here. Unfortunately I can't say there's anything about this place that is too compelling or too far above average other than the service which was absolutely exceptional. We ordered Zuppa di mussels over angel hair pasta it was very good unfortunately when the cook added the mussels over the angel hair he shattered a mussel shell into the pasta and as I was picking shells from my teeth forcing me to either send it back or eat because we were starving so I had to dig into the dish with my fingers to remove them. I told the waitress afterwards, to no compensation offer? The linguini underneath the body of veal parm was okay, the sauce was ok the veal 2 pressed steaks was ok. The eggplant rollatini was horrendous, inedible gops of mozzarella an ricotta bantered about with some very strange mushy eggplant. The salad very basic. The warm homemade bread was very good. If it wasn't for a coupon I don't know if we would ever come back they do offer very good buy one get one coupon up to $15 with acceptable pizza. I was asked by the waitress what I thought of the meal and I told her straight up, 1 super dish with bits of shells, 1 slightly above average dish and 1 dish that belongs in the toilet. She was very concerned and expressed her apologies however that's where it ended. The bad dish aughh, even though we had a buy one get one coupon they should've offered a meal cert or comp that plate. For this clueless lack of a make up anything and because that one dish was so bad I have to reduce what I would have given them a 3 to 2 and of course if they offered homemade pasta it would be a lil different story. This place is priced well with sizeable portions sitting right on route 18 next to Kohl's with a very dangerous parking lot to get in and out of, unfortunately okay seems to be the theme here. Hostess had no personality and seemed genuinely surprised when we asked when our meals were coming out as we had been waiting quite a while. My in-laws loved it though, and I'm visiting Jersey from California (crap pizza there lol). Hankering for good pizza on the 4th of July, and it was the only pizza joint open. On the upside, the inside looks WAY better than you'd think from the outside. And, the staff is really sweet and sociable. Loved our waitress. But, we didn't love the pizza. Unfortunately. I've been coming here for close to 15 years, and Bella is top notch! Everything from the chicken parmesan subs to the extra sauce pizza is amazing! Everything is made fresh and to your liking! Pino and his staff are wonderful and always make you feel comfortable and at home.
