We had a family dinner at Amici and ordered the Works, the Sicilian, a Chicken Parm sandwich, and the lentil soup. The Sicilian was just okay -- the crust felt pretty basic and didn't really deliver that signature Sicilian style. The Works had good flavor, but it was overloaded for the crust, so it ended up being a fork‑and‑knife situation. The Chicken Parm sandwich was solid, and the lentil soup was genuinely good. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu and the cheesecake. Both were enjoyable, but the group leaned toward the cheesecake as the winner. I've gone to Cafe Amici a couple of times before.. and always with a group and we sat in the large back room, which is really a nice option for a larger than average party. For this particular evening, service was friendly and quick. I ordered lentil soup and a Caesar salad. The lentil soup was good... just needed salt and pepper. If you order the Caesar, make sure that you order with the dressing on the side. The dressing is good, but boy do they really saturate it! Mine was swimming in dressing, which made it a bit hard to eat. My daughter ordered chicken alfredo and she really really disliked the chicken. She said that it tasted" fake".. and there was a lot more chicken than pasta--which depending upon who you are, may be a good thing. I did absolutely LOVE their bread! I heard that they are made from pizza dough? I could've eaten a million of them. Overall, was a decent experience. Cafe Amici in Monroe, NJ is a Swiss...no... Italian Army Knife of solid Italian-American fare. Sure you could stop in for a delicious burger but you'd be missing a wonderfully broad menu of Italiano standards ranging from pizza, subs and nicely rendered pasta dishes that would make your gold-toothed Nona extremely jealous. Personally, I'm a fan of their pasta fagioli soup and pasta bolognese but everything is solid whether you opt for takeout or want to hang in their very low key dining room. Give Nona the night off for this solid five star outpost in Monroe. Please leave your knife at home. read more

This is my local Italian eatery and I'm not disappointed at all! They have a huge sign that boasts pasta, pizza and subs - which at first glance might have been a lot but after trying their pizza and subs I can say they have a great handle on their full menu. Let me first say how nice the staff are. Full of smiles - they made me, a new EB resident, feel right at home. (It helped that I was rocking my team Italia soccer kit - hey, what can I say? I was feeling my Italian side this morning). Ambience was great and onto the food. Today I had the delicious Di Amici sub which was a large 12" hero stuffed w a juicy grilled chicken cutlet, melted provolone and seasoned roasted red peppers! Delicioso!! I planned on eating only half but I couldn't stop chomping and before I knew it it was all in my belly. Last time we ordered a couple pizza pies - margherita, and a sausage & mushroom. Both were great. And I'm comparing these subs and pizzas to traditional standard bearers in NYC and Hoboken and Cafe Amici more than holds their own. Ciao amici! read more

Great pizza and great customer service! We just moved to East Brunswick and this was our very first meal in town after unpacking so we were starving! They easily accommodate half/half pizzas. We got half buffalo chicken and half pepperoni and it was so good! They don't skimp on any of the toppings! The buffalo chicken comes with your choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing which, is provided in a generous portion. We also got the chicken caesar which, was good but not amazing. I will be trying a different salad next time! Overall, super friendly and accommodating staff. Great pizza that was ready for pick up in 10 min. This was the third pizza place we ordered from on New Years, and hands down the winner. We did 1 plain pie, 1 buffalo chicken pie, a salad and meatballs. The meatballs were firm, so my guess is they use a pork/beef blend. Really delicious. Nice gravy. Slices were excellent, and even though they missed my instruction to cut the plain into 16ths, they did replace the blue cheese with ranch on the buffalo chicken, so my wife was happy. Five stars. A restaurant that has great food, friendly service and hasn't disappointed. Food here is reasonably affordable and exceptionally delicious. Although the pizza has a bit too much "slippage," (too much sauce to cheese ratio) it is so satisfying, flavorful and hits the right spot. I've also ordered sides and pasta dishes and I have enjoyed everything I've had off the menu has been great. I recommend the penne vodka specifically. Rich and creamy sauce that's flavored! Staff here is also understanding and helpful. Every time I've called, my questions have been answered politely. Staff is amiable; the delivery guy who came to drop off a big order was nice and even offered to help me with all the boxes. I don't hand out five star reviews lightly but Cafe Amici's food has REALLY won me over! Totally recommend. read more

This place is good for pizza. I've tried a few items on the menu but no luck. Their plain pies are good and mozzarella sticks or any side appetizers are okay. The staff is nice, always friendly and the place is always clean. I was pretty excited when they first opened up since there's nothing else in that area but I feel like their food has sorta gone down in quality. I stopped here to get a New York slice and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. Slices were the right size you could tell by the crust and everything that was perfectly made the pizza was not over dried her over cooked they had the Parmesan cheese and a shaker the The garlic and the hot peppers and even oregano classic northeastern deli style I had the barbecue chicken in the chicken Parmesan both were fantastic slices of pizza if I had a bigger appetite I probably would've got adventures of some of their other creations this place was awesome. read more

I've ordered from here a few times. The food is absolutely delicious. They do take a while to deliver. It takes 40 minutes about for them to deliver to my house, and I live 5 minutes away. It doesn't even look that crowded when I pass by. Staff is friendly, and very understandable of the menu. I got the baked ziti to get delivered. It was very good. I wish they would have mixed the cheese with the pasta, and not melt it on top. However, they always cook the food here to perfection. read more

They are amazing a how they handle the crowds for lunch rush. I didn't think they could do it but they did, they fit five of us at a table in the middle of a rush. I ordered the chicken salad because everyone said its a popular plate. Came with grilled chicken, eggplant, and sun dried tomatoes. Really good and flavorful. I got it with oil and vinegar which was ok but if I could do it again, I'd try one of their more popular dressings. It was $10 and satisfying. One of the worst experiences ever ! I always pass by and I was in rush so I called for a large pie ... The young guy who answered the phone was ok but when I arrived , I noticed he was ignoring me and laughing. With a nice lady ..I said to my self maybe it's an old customer .. even after she left he went to the back and still ignoring me ! 5 minutes later he finally realized that I am a customer . Charged me the pizza price and told me to hangout little bit !! The pizza wasn't even ready to go to the oven !!!! . 10 minutes later a nice guy bring me my pizza . Frequently have dinner here. The staff is always super friendly and the food is delicious. The veal parm is fantastic, it all tastes very homemade with fresh ingredients. The portions are plentiful and of the highest quality. My only critique would be pricing; the prices for the entrees are a little bit on the higher end, but the pizza is priced right. This is a common lunch spot we order from at work. There are actually three pizza places closer to my job then this one, but the food at those places is disappointing. Cafe Amici by no means is a top of the line pizza place, it's actually pretty standard. The pizza itself is mediocre, which seems to be the norm these days. All I want is a good slice of pizza, why is this so difficult?! Anyway, I digress.....I actually order from here because their sandwich food is quite good. The Godfather is an office favorite, you can smell the garlic coming off of the sandwich. Just try to stay away from any face to face conversations with anybody who has just eaten it. The buffalo chicken wrap and cheese steak's are tasty as well. I can't recommend an average pizza place to anybody, but if you're hungry and in the area, I do recommend going with a sandwich instead of the pizza. read more

DONT pay by credit card!!!! BUYER BEWARE After having lunch within the restaurant, I gave the waiter my credit card to pay the bill - all seemed great. Within 30 minutes of lunch, my card was being used fraudulently for several random purchases forcing the bank to shut down my card. I am NOT accusing anyone in the restaurant because there is no way of knowing however this is extremely suspicious! I called the owner, Sal to make him aware of what happened. I was not accusing anyone or looking for anything - just wanted the owner, Sal to be aware. That was a mistake. I've been a customer of Cafe Amici since they opened years ago. I immediately became hooked on one of their sandwiches, "The Hot Shot". This sandwich is literally heaven. The bread is always super fresh, thinly sliced but just enough Prosciutto di Parma, thick slices fresh mozzarella, hot peppers, and a garlic herby spread on the bread. I've gotten pizza here from time to time which I found above average but not the best. Today I had a loaded baked potato slice along side my usual Hot Shot sandwich. I must admit, the slice was phenomenal. One turn off for me is that they don't deliver to my location although it is 2.5 miles away because I'm in East Brunswick. Other than that, the store is always clean, staff are always nice and welcoming, and the food is on fresh. Definitely give them a shot if you're in the area. read more

My first time ordering from this place. Ordered the White Works Pizza and garlic knots. The pizza is fantastic. Everything tastes fresh and the crust is crispy. The garlic knots were a little dry. I like them softer and more garlicky, but it was towards the end of the night. Delivery was reasonable amount of time. Definitely on my saved list to try other stuff!! read more
