Great little place. I visited this spot with business associated during a work trip. The building is quaint and the interior was very homey. We were a group of 8 and they were able to manage our table nicely. The coconut shrimp was big and delicious with a complimentary sweet and sour sauce. The spaghetti and sauce was standard, but the meatball had great flavor. I took my leftovers back to the nearby hotel only to wake in the middle of the night and realize I wouldn't be able to use the microwave due to their aluminum take out container. The disappointment was insurmountable.... I sadly had to throw my leftover, which was half my meal in the garbage. read more

It's nice for Oneonta, but the food is bland Italian for me. I do love a good lobster ravioli or some mussels marinara though and I have been here twice and I think like all Oneonta restaurants it's highly overrated on yelp. Anyway, the place feels rather small and had to keep my coat both times as it was cold, which wouldn't bother me at a cheaper price point. The items on the menu are hit and miss. The bruschetta was good but both my mussels and ravioli were as I said, bland, and I have had the ravioli twice now. The servers are nice, but I don't think they put but a thimble of vodka in their Bloody Mary so stick to the wines. My dad loves the place, it's not super pricey, and you don't have much choice if you are in Oneonta. read more

Good place to go for dinner with the family. A little out of the way from the center of Main Street but would drive down. The food was a little bland and needed more spices and seasonings. Wouldn't go back but over all isn't a bad place. read more

Plus side, nice outdoor dining, bar is good place to have a before dinner drink or alternative to a table for dinner. Menu has something for everyone. Downside, one thing that most people want, myself included, is service soon after being seated, bring us a drink and bread ten we can chill and look over the menu. Waited 35 minutes for cocktail and longer for bead, 45 minutes. Dinner was OK two of our dishes good the other two entrees were so so. Maybe we caught the place on an off night so I would go back and give it another chance. read more

My husband and I ate here last evening (2/15). It was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we walked in the waitress was highly attentive. she told us the specials and let us be - she left us alone just long enough to decide. We started with Mushrooms stuffed with Crabmeat and Cheese. What a wonderful starter. Then we each had a salad accompanied with a loaf of warm bread and butter. Then the entrees. I ordered the Seafood Risotto - it was packed full of perfectly cooked seafood. My husband ordered Calamari & Scungili in a Fra de Ablo sauce. We both ate every bit and will certainly make it a point to come back here.. When we arrived - a little after 5pm we were the only people there. Shortly after there were 5 other couples. We weren't rushed and actually didn't leave until a little after 7pm. What a wonderful evening. read more

All-around awful experience. We're seated and not attended to for over 35 minutes. Finally placed drink order which we ended up never receiving. Kindly asked our server how much longer till we can place a food order and were told "If you think you're getting your food within an hour you are gravely mistaken". Needless to say after that statement and lack of apology our group got up and left the establishment. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. During a recent travel to upstate NY we happened onto this quaint local restaurant for lunch. Warm and inviting atmosphere, pleasant server and delicious food! The fettuccine Alfredo was creamy and hearty needing only a hint of salt to put it over the top! The broccoli rabe w/sausage over pasta was a nice change. The creamy pasta fagioli soup is what hit it out of the ballpark for me! A surprising twist of a light, creamy tomato broth with 3 different pastas! I will search for a recipe similar! If we ever happen to be driving that way again we will return! read more

Completely surprised at this place and I'm a fan. Went on the recommendation from My hotel. The place is definitely quirky its an old White House with apartments upstairs. Walking in I felt like I was somewhere between my grandmothers house and and elks lodge. I was already in so I didn't run and I'm glad I didn't. For a Tuesday the place was pretty full and very casual. They have quick pick or whatever that lottery game is people play at bars. The environment isn't fancy at all and that's just fine with me. On to food they had decent beer dogfish and such. I ordered the seafood fra diavolo and to my surprise our waitress asked how spicy I wanted it. Once the food arrived it looked and tasted great. Again I was surprised. This wasn't just Mariana with some crushed red pepper it was a legit sauce. Pasta was cooked perfectly to my liking. So long story short in the road again hotel recommends a place I have low expectations and am completely surprised honestly I'd drive back down here just for dinner read more

Came here for dinner after a long day of (motorcycle) riding. Appears this was once a house that was converted (fairly well) into a restaurant. Reservations are available, but we were able to be seated rather quickly in the back. In short - if you get all the ingredients in your dish at the start, it will be cooked expertly and flavorful. My wife and a woman at the table next to us ordered a dish that on the menu is stated as chicken breast, mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto. Both dishes were presented w/o prosciutto, so the respective servers took the dishes back to the kitchen to have the problem "rectified". What came out from the kitchen was pitiful. An over-cooked piece of hide laying on top of the initial dish. Inedible. Not sure what was more disappointing: the chef who let it leave the server window, or the server's judgement in bringing them to the table(s). On brighter notes: Everything else was very good. Salads were fresh, dressings homemade, my dish was quite good but the tomato cream sauce was bland. I do tend to like things with a spicy kick so I'm not knocking the chef for it. This place could be a solid 4-4.5 star, but bringing out ruined proteins at this price point is not professional. read more

Don't be in a hurry if you come here. Servers very friendly, but took awhile and we were in here for almost 2 hours on a busy Friday night. Food was excellent; Stuffed Mushroom appetizers; Warm bread with a nice side salad; Cheese Ravioli with probably the absolute best marinara sauce I have ever had and a Grilled Swordfish special that was done to perfection. I ordered the "chicken breast". Every other dish had a true name except for this one. The description was fresh mozzarella, tomato and prosciutto. Upon starting dinner, I noticed that there wasn't prosciutto. No problem, the waitress took my dish back to get it fixed. The meat that returned on top of my chicken looked different from any prosciutto I've ever seen. It looked sickly if you will. Well, it "tasted" and had the consistency of rubber. It was terrible. I think it was well over cooked. I pushed it off to the side. The rest of the ingredients were good, so it was fine. I was disappointed though. I was a little bit disappointed that the waitress didn't ask why I didn't eat the prosciutto, but no big deal. A woman at the table next to me ordered the same dish and also didn't receive prosciutto. Hers was "fixed" too with the sickly looking meat. I'm giving this three stars instead of one because our salads were good and my husband liked his dish. Like I said, I did like the taste of the other ingredients, so those factors increased the rating. read more

Very decent Italian food. I appreciate that they were willing to change the pasta order and add what I wanted. The decor is just meh. It's in a neat old house, but when you walk inside you feel like you're in a strip mall restaurant because of the cheap drop ceiling and bland tile on the floor. Service was good. My collegiate soccer team and I were traveling to Binghamton, NY and stopped at Bella Michael's for dinner! We are a party of 27 and both the service and the food were absolutely amazing! From the salad and the bread to the penne marinara, penne a la vodka, chicken parmesan and veggies, everything tasted delicious. Weary travelers and starving we were, the lady at the desk at Hampton Inn suggested this place. Less than a mile down the road, we opted in. The server was so pleasant and just genuinely nice. The food was amazing. Caprese salad was good, roasted ted pepper is a nice flare for the dish, the tomatoes were not fresh or maybe just not red enough for me, but the mixture of flavors were good. The lobster bisque is the bomb.com lots of lobster!!!!!. The eggplant rollitini was great. Seafood chowder was awesome, fresh bread for soaking up the goodness. The nachos, also amazing. Can't go wrong here. In town for a funeral, so didn't think to take pictures. read more

The food and atmosphere are always great here at Bella Michael's. The Marsala is wonderful and the specials never disappoint us. The portions are great and we always have to take some home with us. We're passing through town and this restaurant was recommended by our nearby hotel. What a gem! Quaint and homey ambiance. Friendly and attentive staff. The salad that comes with the entrée is not your typical iceberg lettuce fare. Both the Bleu cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressings were memorable. I loved that I could sub veggies for pasta, and what a terrific blend of non-typical vegetables it turned out to be. My veal marsala had such a rich, luscious sauce, I was tempted to use my straw for lack of a spoon to get every last drop. My husband's NY strip steak was perfectly cooked, thick, and tender. I wish we'd had room for dessert. I'm sure it would have been memorable as well. read more

Was passing through day after christmas and took a chance going in- it was amazing. Service and food - exceptional. We ate the warm bread which was delicious.... then we ordered a special appetizer of grilled oysters - then after tasting them - we just had to order another. The chef is brilliant. My husband and I both had the specials that day and were beyond pleased. My kids are picky eaters and they had enough choices to choose from- we all left happy. I live close to NYC and I come up to the catskill often and I just can't wait to go back there to eat! I hope they have the specials of the grilled fish when I go back. Oh, not to mention we were celebrating my husbands birthday and I secretly told the waitress that it was his birthday - OMG what an amazing staff - they all came out to sign with a beautiful plate decorated with "happy birthday" What a lovely place! read more

Slow... slow..... the chowder was awesome! The owner " manager" sat and ate with her daughter and someone else. While we waited to be greeted.... then sat another "10 minutes" to get a drink. The bartender who was also the waitress had a table of at least ten in the back. But.... why didn't the owner " manager" help out??? The special was red snapper with scallops. Great place for a quiet drink and good eats, if I was going to suggest one thing to anyone it would be the crab nachos..sooooo good

Bella Michaels is our go to spot Friday nights. Portions are very generous. I particularly love the chicken parmesan. This dish is great with fantastic sauce. I also like the mixed seafood with white sauce. The only caveat here is there are no "quick" items here and you can wait a long time for good food. So if your not in a rush and want a great dining experience this is the place. read more

A hidden Oneonta gem of a restaurant. While the interior looks like the basement of a church or a repurposed 1960s rec room, the food is delicious. Portion size is huge. Price is a little high for the area, but not bad. If you can find this place for dinner, it's worth eating here. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Oneonta. I absolutely adore their signature dish Bella Michael chicken. It is a little more on the fancy and pricier side but for good reason. Dishes come with a salad that is very good. Portions are perfect and even a little large. I have heard from an eggplant connoisseur that their eggplant Parmesan is on point. read more
