Visiting here this week and decided to try Alfresco's. Ordered a small deluxe antipasto salad and was extremely disappointed. The dressing was nothing like what I'm used to for antipasto. My hubby and I shared the shrimp Parmesan and that was disappointing also, especially for 28.00. There were 4 bite sized shrimp on the plate with linguine and spaghetti sauce. So disappointing. We did have a good server. This was the worst Italian meal we've ever eaten. Very disappointing. read more

Alfrescos is a family favorite. My favorite is the Antipasto Salad with all the extras. Do wish they used Door Dash, would order even more often. The decor, however, is worth the trip to dine in, especially at Christmas. read more

We ate here twice while in town. First was 30 minutes to closing and I believe it was the owner... he allowed us to order and he was very nice and saved our hangry appetites! He was flipping pizza dough and his Pizza was delicious, shrimp scampi was very tasty. Shrimp was perfect. Second time we ate in the dinning area and I got the chicken piccata and it was very tasty. I have a couple of allergies that make ordering and receiving a superior pizza a sadly infrequent experience. Today's first-time visit blew past any pizza I've had! Marleen, our beautiful and warm hostess and server, encouraged me to give it a try and it was excellent. My friends had the French Onion Soup and the Spinach Salad with sausage and they loved them! And then, when we swore we couldn't possibly eat another bite, a chocolate chip canoli and a dark chocolate brownie a la mode drew a perfect end to our lunch. They were somewhat busy and the way they treated us was very rude. One customer behind me was told at 7:30pm that they didn't know if they could seat them. Then just walked away. My party and the other man's party just left. We went to Bella Micheals down the street which was amazing. The negative reviews were absolutely correct. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Alfresco's was so unbelievably bad that I feel obligated to warn others. The owner's attitude? Absolutely terrible -- rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. It's like they're doing you a favor by letting you walk through the door. As for the food... I wish I could say it made up for the service, but it was somehow worse. I ordered the chicken parm sub, hoping for something halfway decent. What I got was a soggy, flavorless mess that made me genuinely question how this place is still open. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the Stewart's down the road serves a far better chicken parm sub -- hotter, tastier, and made with more care. Between the awful food and the owner's miserable attitude, there's zero reason to spend your money here. Save yourself the regret and eat literally anywhere else. read more

Happened upon this place on our way into town...and we were glad we stopped. Kids got pizza slice special (huge slices - look at the pics). Mozzarella sticks were lights out and my stuffed shell entree was very flavorful (sauce tasted fresh). First Time Here We are in town for the Cooperstown baseball tournament. Our first dinner in town was at Alfresco's. When you first walk in, it is impressive, cozy with pretty lights. The food was so below average... my husband's chicken marsala was definitely not good.. it also came with weird ravioli on the bottom of the brown sauce, we couldn't figure out what they were stuffed with.. side note.. my husband was violently sick the rest of the night after eating this...my daughters penne a la vodka was tasteless, pasta was overcooked, sauce was tasteless, my (meatless) lasagna was so bland and very below average. My daughter ate a few bites, I ate 1/2 and my husband got sick... definitely won't go back. read more

Wow, this is a great example to not always trust Yelp ratings. We went here on our last day of our son's Cooperstown trip and man... I wish we knew about it earlier in the week. There aren't a long list of dining options in this town but this place is a gem. The sauces and dressings are made from scratch, and you can tell. Everything from our appetizers to the pasta dishes were amazing. The vibe inside felt like something out of a movie. If you want super fast paced rush dining, go to Olive Garden. If you want real Italian food where you can tell that cafe is put into every meal, go to Alfresco's. Can't wait to come back when our next son plays in Cooperstown. read more

Fantastic! Enjoy delicious home made dishes and great service. We needed a late night hearty meal and ordered from Alfresco's. The kitchen was "closed" but they went ahead and cooked up a storm for us anyways. Everything was so tasty. My favorite was chicken piccata and the garlic knot and tiramisu. We ordered out so did not get a full view of the restaurant but the ambiance of the front lobby/kitchen was great including personal conversation with the owner and his wife who despite having to get up at 4:30am to make fresh dough, stayed up a little later to feed my family. So glad they did- it was the best meal we had in New York. Can't recommend highly enough. Check it out! read more

Today I brought my mother and two children to have lunch. We were asked to go into the dining area to be seated and then the waitress asked us to wait in the waiting area because she was the only waitress. We decided we'd just take it to go. As we waited for our food the two tables in the waiting area cleared. When our pizza slices came out we asked if it was ok to sit on the tables that cleared. The tables were not part of the main dining area but, apparently asking to sit there, to try and save the restaurant time and money by avoiding building , packing and boxing the slices was a problem. The man slammed his hands down on the counter and pushed away stuff on the counter where he was working, and in a not very nice tone said "so are you in or are you out?". I feel ashamed my kids had to see that. We know where we are not welcomed. read more

We went to the Cooperstown HOF 3 years ago from Texas and ate here. When you walk you're greeted by a miserable guy to the left from the kitchen who immediately greets you with some unfriendly reminder (that time was if you sit outside "don't move the tables!"). I know, the horror of a moved table! Nevertheless, we persevered and had a good meal and a friendly waitress that saved the day. Fast forward 3 years to June 2025 and we unexpectedly find ourselves back in Oneonta again for my son's baseball tournament. So we say, hey let's go there again. It was like going back in time. Miserable guy 'welcomes' us again from the kitchen as if on cue and when we ask for a table for 7 he fires off a first response of "we won't split your check!" About 30 seconds later he says, I can't seat you all my big tables are full." We were a group of kids and adults so geesh, I don't know, perhaps a table for 4 and one for 3 would add up to 7 and you could get business? Anyway, I do not recommend this place or dealing with their miserable owner. There is a lot of good pizza in the area and this place is not worth dealing with that guy. read more

Long time resident until 2003, been in Florida ever since. One thing we miss here in FL is GOOD PIZZA!!! There are several places I like in Oneonta, but my favorite is Alfresco's. The regular and white slices are hands down, the best in Oneonta! I have a fantasy football draft in Oneonta in a week and am looking forward to Alfresco's pizza! Not sure if the cook had a bad night or they don't know what chicken Marsala tastes like. we were there and I had it served over mushroom ravioli's it was comparable to what my wife and I had in Italy. The owner of the store makes all the pizzas by hand and they are delicious. Love how they everything is made in house including their dressing and bread. The store is very beautifully designed and looks fantastic in the summer time. The quiet and classical ambiance of alfresco's is great I can't wait to come back again. read more

First time here with my fiancé. The lady that was supposed to seat us was more busy talking to her friends at the bar while we waited. the waitress took our orders...I ordered penne with clams and white sauce and I got linguine with clams and white sauce. she brought me my food way before she brought my fiancé his so we didn't even get to eat togethe. the sruffed shells my fiancé ordered he said that the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. Place is adorable as you can tell from the photos. Drinks a little water down in their small for a serving. Little pricey for three raviolis with mozzarella on top. Sue said the pizza was good it was good I saw it it had pineapples on it she's nuts. She's happy the crust was nice and crunchy next to those soft pineapples. The waitress was new but no matter what question we asked she got the right answers and was very helpful and always coming back around to attend to her needs if we needed anything. read more

The atmosphere was pretty, Sort of felt like we were in a European trattoria. Very friendly staff greeted us on the way in. Sweet waitress, decent service. We had the chicken piccata and the chicken marsala, both were tasty however for the price the amount was not really worth it. We stopped in, but they didn't have any tables available end said it'd be at least an hour wait. The server, however, seeing our disappointment offered us takeout. After ordering, she invited us to sit in the bar and offered us a water. However, we decided to try the watermelon mojito and it was lovely. We enjoyed it very much. For our takeout, we ordered the traditional pizza and caprese salad, both were delicious, and they got our special order adjustments just right. Good drinks, delicious food and welcoming staff. I personally will not return to this restaurant. I'll skip the details the nuts and bolts of my decision is that I spent 25$ on a meal that couldn't have cost more than 3$ in ingredients and preparation. My 25$ meal was a salad that could fit in a small coffee cup. 2 pieces of white meat chicken total weight under a 1/4 pound, a mushroom cut in half and 3 small ravioli that I didn't order or want. I can deal with bad service and I can handle not liking a product but I will not allow anyone to steal from me. Treat your customers like your hungry mother not like a free loading step child. read more

For Oneonta, this is probably the best Italian in town. It's certainly the classiest. The pizza joints on Main St. just don't cut it as far as offering a nice sit down meal. The lasagne is one of the only menu items I can vouch for, mainly because it was so good the first time I tried it, I never bothered to order anything else. And it's very reasonably priced at $13.25, along with the menu as a whole. As with most restaurants, however, the wine will jack up your bill, and Alfresco's offers a decent list considering its location. Check out the ceiling in the dining room. Very cool. Have one too many glasses of wine and you might think you're in an old European Cathedral. read more

We have been here 4-5 times over the past 2 years, but tonight was the last time. First the positive, the ambiance is pretty nice, and whoever does the seasonal decorations is pretty awesome. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer, and that was really pretty good. When we go out, we don't mind spending money for a nice dinner, but when something is subpar, I expect to be treated with respect and taken seriously. Tonight I ordered a Cesar salad with grilled chicken.......pretty simple. The lettuce was wilted, the chicken was 5 paper thin slices tasteless and cold (+$6.25) bringing the price of the salad to $22.20....kind of a lot for a bowl of lettuce but I knew the price. I returned it to the kitchen, the young waiter apologized, my husband finished his dinner, we were given the check which we paid and left a 20% tip. On the way out, the owner was making pizza in the front, I told him the salad was terrible. He says it was made to spec. ( if that's their "spec" that's telling in itself) he said "it was taken off your bill" when we told him it was not, I told him that wasn't the point. He was very defensive which is not a good look for an owner with a customer that was disappointed with his food. Anyway, I now understand why the restaurant was so empty on a Thursday dinner hour. Traveling for business through the area and had a Coworker who had eaten here before suggest alfresco's to me. He was spot on I had Penni Pasta Primavera with shrimp in a light garlic oil lemon sauce. It was fantastic. I highly recommend this place to anybody that's hungry and wants a really good meal with exceptional service. The young lady that worked and waited my table said she had been there for 25 years.
