The parking situation in the plaza is absurd with Pay2Park just to grab a quick slice of pizza. Well, not me, I parked in front of the business and refused to pay the meter and went inside while keeping a sharp eye on my vehicle in case the diligent meter maid begins the ticketing frenzy. The full pizzas in the display were huge and the employee cut me an oversized cheese slice and slid it into the oven for a few minutes. The slice was thin with light cheese and a deep charred undercarriage. I took a seat by the window to keep an eye on my vehicle. I added some pepper flakes and quickly ate the slice which was good but not overly unique. They offer a lunch special of two slices of pizza and a can of soda for $5.95. Came in on a Saturday night with the wife as we were craving some pizza. Been wanting to try this for a while as it's close to home. Place was empty, looked like the one pie done had been sitting for a while. We ordered a medium for the two of us, they made that fresh, so not sure if they sell it by the slice. We did half meatballs/green peppers and the other just cheese. This way you get to taste the true origin of the pizza. When it came out, it looked really good. So we jumped in and it was great! I'm from Philly, so I've got a good pizza pallet! The toppings side was a 7.9 (in one bite scale) and the cheese side was 8.1! It's great comfy pizza! Nothing fancy or stylish, that's exactly what we wanted! Undercarriage was good and the crust was crunchy! Pizza wasn't too greasy and didn't flop too much. We were so glad we came in! This was a solid "good" (3 star) dining experience tonight. We've been on the search for a better pizza that where we used to go and this place had been recommended. So we decided to try it tonight as my husband was craving salad and pizza. It's on the north side of Commercial Boulevard near the seafood market. There are two rows of metered parking plus the free parking spaces that front the street. At the time we went, there was ample parking. When we entered this small casual restaurant there was only one other diner and another came in a bit later. Most people came and went during our stay by picking up take out orders. We started with their house salad to share. It was a large bowl of very fresh iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, and cucumbers. We got the sliced red onions on the side. We tried two of their dressings. The house balsamic dressing was very good. If you want a smaller salad, you can order their side salad. They have other varieties of salads as well. We chose their 14" pizza -- they also have 12 and 16 inch ones. It turned out a bit larger than expected. We got it with added sausage which was small crumbled bits. The pizza was decent. It was even better when we sent it back to be cooked a little longer. The thin crust became a bit more flavorful and the cheese hotter and more melted. It wasn't the best pizza we'd ever had, nor was it "just like New York" as we'd been told. It's hard to reproduce that char of a coal or wood fired 100 year oven in "new" Florida, but it doesn't mean we won't still try to find it. On the other hand, we both said we'd definitely come back. Stopped in yesterday for lunch at Bella Sera. Place was clean and honestly, looked like your typical small hole in the wall kinda pizza place which doesn't bother me because they normally have the best pizza. We opted to go with a large cheese and an order of wings. Wings came out first and they were fresh and hot! So hot there was steam coming off them like fog off a lake in the morning. I took my first bite and while the flavor was good, i found the breading to be a little mushy. I don't know if their fryer wasn't up to temp or not, but these could've been better. Then the pizza came out, and it looked like your typical football style pizza. I picked up a slice and it looked like it was a little undercooked. Took a bite and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. The sauce on this pizza was really good. I think if they turned up the temp on this oven, this pizza would've been better. The cheese was a little undercooked so it left a little bit of a rubbery feeling to it. Grease was there but not overbearing. In all honesty, it wasn't a bad slice it just wasn't great like some of the other pizza places close by. I would give it a solid 6.2 on the 10pt scale. All in all, i wouldn't mind going back again if i was invited, but i would probably ask for the pizza well done. read more

I'm new to this part of town and still searching for decent pizza. I grew up and, later, worked in Italy. so I sorta know what pizza is supposed to be like. Bella Sera was a pleasant surprise. A soft dough, some char and ingredients that slide around like they're supposed to. It's not cardboard. It's not the thick, starchy tomato paste sauce that's been cooked to death and can hang upside down on a plate and not fall off. Not the end of my search but certainly one of the better pizza's in Broward. The issue is the same as all the other places, the criteria for ingredients is "value" rather than quality. Unfortunate as I can readily buy better ingredients around here. But my criteria is taste, not cheap. I have tried their pizza 3x since they are close and every single time it has been undercooked or floppy on the bottom and the cheese falls right off. I think he takes it out too fast that the dough is just flat. I usually let the pizza set at home before I take a slice hoping the cheese sets, it never does! It is always such a mess. He isn't doing something right here!!! Although the pizza tastes good, it is just messy pie! With cheese falling of crust falling way flat!! This has been every single time. I have given up. Bella Sera Pizza is basically a pizza eat in, take out or delivery type of parlor restaurant but also with extensive offering of wraps, hot or cold subs, Panini's, some typical Italian Specialty listings such as lasagna; shrimp, chicken or eggplant parmigianas, manicotti, ziti, stuffed shells, salads and a number of not so Italian appetizers such as chicken wings, French fries and Jalapeño poppers. Upon entering the first thing that struck me about Bella Sera is that though sparsely decorated, it's clean, orderly and well laid out. All of the eat in tables were properly set up for customers without having to fish around for flatware, napkins or condiments such as pepper flakes, etc. You also have a good view of the kitchen, again clean, neat and orderly without an open cans, boxes, cooking implements or used towels sitting around which is a common sight all too often seen in other such establishments. It's somewhat confusing as to whether or not one grabs a table and is waited upon or goes to the counter, gets a menu, then orders from the counter. I took a seat, but then not being offered a menu with the clerk merely standing behind the counter, got up, read the menu, ordered one of their Mediterranean Pizzas with anchovy, took a soda from the cooler, paid and resumed my seated location; so I guess that is how it is done. My pizza arrived served on a high plate and was true to the menu in that it had a generous topping of tomato, spinach, pepper, onion, black olive, mozzarella and my special addition of anchovy. The crust was delightfully thin with a crispness, good texture, devoid of any sogginess and overall tasty. As I couldn't consume the entire pizza I was politely offered and given a box to take the rest home, which I did. As eat in takeout pizza type places go, there is nothing particularly unique in their offerings or anything about the place that would set it apart from the typical, but they do a good job of what they do and for what the place is and though I can't really say I'm a fan of it I'm going to go Four Stars as they are clearly a notch above what would be similar such establishments in the area. As for the Five Star reviews I've read, really now; "As good as it gets," I can hardly think of it as being that. read more

I took advantage of the $15 yelp deal for $20 worth of food. This place was delicious! I ordered a small veggie pizza and medium (they don't have small) veggie Stromboli. They had it ready in 15 minutes for carryout. They greeted me upon entering the restaurant. It seemed like they were husband and wife. They were very friendly and promptly rung me up with my yelp discount. They also explained that if I save 10 receipts, I can turn them in for a free large pizza. The restaurant has about 10 tables. They offer slices of pizza that they can warm up in the oven for you. The pizza was AMAZING. I ordered a small. The veggies are very fresh. Excellent flavor and huge amount of toppings. The veggie Stromboli was also great. The marinara sauce it comes with is so fresh and tasty. I wanted to keep eating and eating....that is how I know it is good food! The pizza we both thought had a good crust but a little too much residual flour. Plenty of toppings and the leftover slices were tasty the next day for lunch.
