The fixed prix dinner feast was even more heavenly despite having imbibed 4 margaritas before the 5:45 pm arrival; and I drink very little if any daily. This very special experience starts when you are picked up by the gondola at Mountain Village by a decked out snow track. The relatively smooth ride up takes about 20 minutes - just enough time to get acquainted with the other about ten guests who were extremely nice and interesting. The food with wine pairings for each course was delicious and the service impeccable. The ride down seemed shorter. Due to the 9 glasses of cocktails and wine, my trip back to the right room was a little shaky. But this incredible culinary experience made the expected hangover worth it. I hope to be back next year, this time having learned my lesson.

The restaurant was empty except for 1 person at the fireside table and a table of 4 that were on the way out. Inside was decorated very cute, rustic. Each chair had a nice blanket available if needed. Our server Marissa was very nice and prompt. Marissa asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water, we asked for still. We looked at the wines by the glass menu and ordered two glasses of the sparkling Rose Pinot Noir. $24. This was actually delicious. We decided to split the Alpino Vino Signature Grilled Cheese Sandwich with the Organic Tomato Gorgonzola Soup. $32. We also ordered an extra tomato soup since we split the sandwich. The grill cheese sandwich was lacking cheese but had plenty of pesto, arugula and tomato. The tomato soup was served cold and no taste of the Gorgonzola. A big dash of oil on top. The food was a definite miss. When the bill arrived, we also noticed a $10 charge for the still water. Had we been informed we would be charged for still water we wouldn't have ordered it. We had our own with us if we had known. The water price is not stated on the menu. There is also a 5% culinary service charge added to all checks and $6 to split the sandwich. This is notated in the bottom of the menu. So, while it is a cool location and beautiful views if you are privileged enough to sit outside, the food was a definite miss and the extra charges were petty. I will say we saw the charcuterie board pass by and it looked delicious. Marissa was nice but could have informed us of the $10 for a couple of glasses of water. Go for the views and a glass of vino or bubbles if you can sit outside.

The biggest downside was how crowded it was. There wasn't a clear place to walk up and order at the bar, so we ended up sitting at a small table waiting for an opportunity to order. It would have been nice if someone was walking around taking drink orders or if there was a designated ordering area when the bar is busy. The bartender was fine, but nothing particularly stood out service-wise. Also, if you're traveling with a dog, this is not a pet-friendly bar. As far as I could tell, they also do not serve food in the historic bar itself, so it's best to come just for drinks and the atmosphere.

We walked in the door and was warmly greeted by the only guy we saw working there. He was grinding up coffee, which smelled really good! We then placed our order for one brisket entrée, and one salmon entrée. Then we asked him about splitting a Caesar, and he said sure. After paying for the meal upfront, he pointed us to the table where we could pick up our napkins, utensils, and get some water. This is a very self service place. That's fine. There was only one other couple in the restaurant that had gotten there before us so they were not busy. About 15 minutes, went by and we wondered if we were ever going to get our Caesar salad. A few minutes later, our food was served to us, including a small Caesar salad that was not split. We quickly mentioned with surprised that oh the salad comes out with the food? Our server smiled and said: enjoy. We eat out quite often and we can rarely think of any time that a salad came out with the meal. It's designed to keep you happy and give you something refreshing to eat while they're back in the kitchen cooking your meal. We figured when they came out to check with us, we would mention that it was too late and could they remove it from our bill. However, the entire time we ate our meal, no one ever came to check on us. The gentleman we ordered from along with a lady chatted the entire time at the counter as we were eating. They only passed by our table after a patron came in looking for something he thought he might've left there earlier. When she came and asked to clear our plates, I asked if that's typical that the salad comes out with the entrées because we no longer want the salad. She said she was sorry that our server didn't ask if we wanted it early or with the meal. Then she took our plates away and left the Caesar salad sitting there. It's really too bad we had such a poor experience as we were planning to come back for breakfast in the morning, based on the reviews. It's funny because on our bill, it's listed as an $11 "starter" Caesar salad. My husband said his brisket was average, a little dry, except when he got a good fatty part. The potatoes and the vegetables were good. My salmon was just slightly overcooked, but very delicious and I really enjoyed the taste of my meal. For us, customer service is as much a part of the experience as the food. Judging by the reviews, this hopefully is a one off.

The service is top notch and every person is attentive to your needs. There is a gym and a restaurant on location and plenty of space to explore. The hotel is also very quiet (at least when we visited), which I found extremely relaxing. I highly recommend this Fairmont if you are in the area.

Our kitchen was full of everything you would need to cook and eat with. Complete with washer and dryer. We had two bathrooms each with a large tub and shower. This lodge is perfect for skiers. The gondola was right next to our exit. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. We were here off season so many were closed but it would perfect in skiing season. I would recommend staying here. Great location.
