Overnighting in Ouray, we picked a place our friends had visited in the past. A good brewpub with tasty food and friendly service. FOOD: Mostly, but not solely, burgers and sandwiches. Quality was good -- the fries were a stand-out. I had a green chili burger that had good food flavors, but was nowhere near as spicy as the description had it. DRINK: A brew-pub is only as good as the brew. Both the saisson and the blonde we ordered were quite tasty, as were the seltzers. The selection isn't huge, but that's actually kind of nice; they covered all the beer bases without needing to offer a dozen different IPAs. SERVICE: Very friendly waitstaff, and fairly attentive. We were there at an early hour (they open earlier than other dinner restaurants), but food delivery was pretty quick. AMBIANCE: Brew-pub in an old building on Ouray's main drag -- ticked the boxes nicely. Place was clean, noise level was under control. We chose indoor seating, being concerned about heat up on the rooftop. NET-NET: A bit on the pricey side, but quite satisfying. If I were again in Ouray, I might try someplace else, but I would not need my arm twisted to return here. read more

My mom, Aunt and I stopped in for lunch and we were seated immediately. The server was friendly and gave us a moment to look over the menu. She was back shortly after and we ordered burgers and a grilled cheese and chili. The burger was delicious, tender, flavorful and cooked great. The grilled cheese had a great crunch on the bread and a beautiful stretch of cheese when taking that first bite! The chili was tasty also! The fries were crispy and craveable. My fiancé and I stopped here a couple years ago and I still think about it. We were sat upstairs and had a beautiful view. The food took a while to be served but our hostess gifted us one of their glasses in return for us waiting so long. The service was incredible and I would recommend it to anyone going through Ouray. Ouray is gorgeous little town with steep canyon walls and is very picturesque. Ouray brewery serves up some decent food and is not overly priced comparatively to the other nearby tourist traps. This is one of the main larger breweries to check out when you're in Ouray. It was busy but we were able to get seated at another bar counter upstairs. They have swinging bar chairs downstairs that we didn't get to use, but it looked fun! Looks like they brew in-house since we got to see their brew process. Their food looked good but we didn't get any, as we continued to bar hopped everywhere on Main St. it was good to know they had 5oz pours too if you don't want a usual pint. read more

The three star review is for the service which is non existent. Upon arrival you have to order at the counter pay and tip ahead of time. Then you're told to come back to the counter and get your food and beer. When I asked the lady for a to go container she told me to go downstairs and get one. Then we were told that we had to pick up our own empty container and throw them out. So with that being said why do I have to tip, when everything that is done by a server to get a tip is done by the customer. The beer was just ok not a big selection. But the plus was the burgers they were very good and the fries were outstanding so the kitchen get a 5 star. The view is great but $83.00 dollars plus a 15 dollar tip, for two beers, two burgers, an appetizer and bad service is very over priced. Will not return. read more

The views from here are absolutely amazing. I also loved that they had overhead coverage for shade, so that the majority of us were not sitting in the sun. Not many options in Ouray but this ended up being a good one. Ouray Brewery has multiple levels and a killer rooftop. So no matter the weather there's a place for you. The beer and food was ok. The burger was good, felt on the small side for the cost. The fries were really good. Hard to criticize the grub or beer with the million dollar view from the rooftop. My wife did not enjoy the flavored hard seltzer I ordered her. Rated the Million Dollar Amber a 3.25 on Untappd. It was unremarkable. I think the number one thing you'll see across all their reviews is inconsistency with the food and the service. I have to call out the review by AL Bish as 100% indicative of the attitude of the owners here. Biggest complaint here seems to be rude staff. It's isolated to just Ouray Brewery (the rudeness and back talk). We went in March 2025 and we did not have our dog with us but when we were seated inside, we saw dogs come in through the little door off to the left that heads straight up the stairs to the rooftop. We thought oh next time we gotta bring our puppers. We came back in June 2025, and were quite rather rudely told that pets are not allowed. Not only that but he insisted that pets have NEVER been allowed here and when we tried to say we were here just 3 months ago and saw dogs on the roof, again, he said no you're wrong. I was ready to just let this go but I did some research and saw AL's review and that's exactly how we felt, we were being gaslighted by being told they've never been dog/pet friendly and we were nuts for saying the were. Luckily AL found that post that said they were pet friendly at one time in the very recent past. Then they tried to say oh it's not us, it's the Colorado State Health regulations that state pets are not allowed. I did further research and restaurants have the option to allow or disallow pets only on outdoor patios as long as there is access separate from the main entrance, which there is. One door leads directly up to the rooftop bar, different than the main entrance. Additionally, Ouray County health regulations don't put any further regulations county specific on eating establishments. The point being just say you are no longer allowing pets, don't lie and say we can't or we never have. I'm okay with that and do not expect every restaurant to be pet friendly but don't put the blame on the state or county, it was a business decision and leave it at that. Don't have staff insist it was never pet friendly,, because it clearly was at one point. If you have a pet and looking for a pet friendly place, try out Maggie's Kitchen with an outdoor patio right next to Mr. Grumpy Pants Brewery and you'll feel so much more welcomed there. Too bad as this place has potential if they'd just put the customer first always. Don't make excuses or try to "clap back." read more

Problems begin with the fact that this town is a tourist trap- 2 burgers and one beer - $70 plus tip. The burger was dry and so was the bun. We were sat next to the t-shirt section. And so there was constant shopping next to us. The whole town is unkempt, poor roads, poor service and waaay overcharging. No, I would not come back. It's a beautiful town, busy not enough to keep you busy for even an afternoon. We left and had dinner in Palisade. read more

Came here for dinner during the thanksgiving weekend. It was walkable from our Inn. *Very weird there is a sign that says please wait outside, it seemed like a joke and one of the servers was super annoyed we walked inside from the snow. So, I guess moral of the story, wait outside. The upstairs servers were beyond sweet. Gave us the run down of the homemade French onion soup! Delicious but would have loved a melted cheese on top. My wife is a CO native and insisted we go to this legendary bar. Most of the bottom floor has been converted to sell merch, which they didn't seem to be in any hurry to do, but the stuff was nice. The seats at that small bar were swings, which looked fun. But very limited. The service upstairs is walk up ordering, take a number. Seating is picnic tables and a long bar with aluminum stools. The view of town and the hills is lovely at sunset. The red ale was good, the seasonal hazy was average. Unfortunately we missed lunch when the full menu is available. The "hot" dry rub wing isn't very, and didn't taste like much except cayenne, Korean wings were much better. As others have said the elote dip is surprisingly good. Stopped in for lunch and to enjoy the rooftop dining while touring Ouray for the day. Check in outside to get on the waitlist. It wasn't packed inside, but I'm guessing the workforce issues are still happening, as they were attempting to spread everything out. Once we got in, we found a table on the roof and then went to order. Disappointed they no longer had the brown ale that still appeared on some of the menus, we both ordered and enjoyed a glass of the Amber. I ordered the green chile burger, and my wife had the classic burger with avocado. The onion, lettuce, and tomato comprise the 'setup', and unfortunately, you can't hold one without holding it all. Therefore, we both ditched our tomatoes, and even though I was told the setup was on the side, mine wasn't, so I ended up peeling off the yucky tomato. While both burgers were more red than we prefer, they had good flavor. There weren't a ton of fries, but it turned out they were enough, and they were delicious too. The Good: Located on Main Street with a fantastic view of Ouray and the surrounding mountains from the rooftop deck with bar seating around the "fencing". Short wait for rooftop seating (check-in with the hostess on the street). Tasty Amber Ale and interesting Brown Ale (didn't try any others). They brew 4 onsite, but also have guest cans from other local breweries, including seltzers and mixed drinks. Staff was friendly and helpful. The "Bad": Nothing was truly "bad", but a few not so great moments: SO MANY FLIES! Now... you're sitting on an open-air rooftop deck, so expect some insects... but this was next level! Trash cans are covered, but used glasses and plates would occasionally stack up (you bus yourself) and the flying critters took full advantage. Shit happens (maybe why so many flies??!!!), but something to be aware of. Limited bathrooms on the upper deck (two located on the side you order drinks/food from. Clean enough, but have to line up near the ordering are which can cause some issues with crowding). Food. Just okay (regular bar offerings). Salads looked decent. Burgers were bland. Fries were crispy but not overly flavorful. Condiments from the self-serve section of the upper deck. Now... would I return? For a beer, yes. To eat - no. If you're in Ouray and thirsty, definitely check this brewery out - but eat first someplace else. read more

After years of eyeing the swings at the bar we finally got to try them out! We've sn the available before but we always had our kids with us. The swings did not disappoint, neither did the food or the service! I love that you can get any of the burgers with grilled chicken. It is so tender and juicy. I love the stickers all over the place, so fun to read them all. The swings made for a very relaxing and enjoyable lunch. Heading back to the area in a few months and will stop in for another meal for sure! read more

The employees were welcoming. There was a gentleman at the door who explained how the place worked. There were a couple flights of stairs up to the roof where you would order food and beverage. You would be served and find seating up there. You could sit at the dimly lit bar as you came in on the first floor. It was limited seating and folks were encouraged to head to the roof. There is a self serve station for plasti-ware/condiments and there are buckets with paper towel on the tables. Restrooms are also located on the roof. After climbing to the top, we put in an order for some lunch and beers. It is quite breezy up there depending on what side you sit. The view is really nice. You can see the town and the surrounding mountains. I had the Goddess Chicken and Fresh Veg pita sandwich. It had a fresh pita, with sliced grilled chicken, arugula, mix greens, roasted red pepper, carrot, pumpkin seeds, cuke, and red onion with a Green Goddess dressing. It was tasty. I paired it with their Mexican lager. My husband ordered a house salad with chicken and blue cheese dressing. He had a Pale that had little hop character. Personal preference. The music was louder to overcome the breeze and being outside. It was "country rock." A song about longing to return to Tennessee played on and on prompting us finish quickly and move on with our day. read more

Seeking to have a quick girl's day when I recently went to visit my best in Montrose, we popped over to Ouray. Upon arrival, I knew I need to check out a local brewery, and we figured it would be best to grab lunch too. So we chose to do just that at Ouray Brewery, and damn was that a solid choice! STAR #1 - THE LOCATION! Located on the Main drag, Ouray Brewery is easy-peasy to find. Bonus points for having ample parking on the side streets!! STAR #2 - THE SPACE! They offer up a large rooftop patio that we gladly made our way to soak up the sunny fall day and take in the 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. There's picnic table community seating and a shallow bar top that circles the space. STAR #3 - THE SERVICE! The staff is ridiculously kind. Offering up suggestions for food, drinks, and just make wonderfully pleasant idle chit-chat. STAR #4 - THE SIPS AND BITES! The food and brews were exceptional. We each got a pour of the camp bird blonde. For the eats we chose to split the elote dip, a lonestar burger for my friend, and a green chili burger for me. While everything was delicious, the elote dip really stole the show. The chips were perfectly thin and crispy with a slight hint of lime, and the flavor in the elote dip its self really knocked our socks off - don't skip it! I think the biggest drawback for me was the price. It was a bit more expensive than I expected. We walked away with a whopping $70 tab before tip. Oof! While it's not enough to steer me away, It is absolutely something to be aware of. With my girl living on the western slope for the foreseeable future, I expect that we will make several more trips to Ouray and I will gladly suggest Ouray Brewery when we do! After we hiked the Perimeter Trail around Ouray we were ready for food & refreshments. this place hit the spot. We were told 15-20 minute wait for a tab or we could sit at bar. I saw the custom made swings, said out loud "oh hell yeah we will sit at bar" Look at pictures at how fun that was. Bartender was very informative on beers that I may like, food was outstanding. Truly enjoyed the uni atmosphere. My beer really hit the spot. There is RV parking in town, just look for the signs. It is a little bit of a walk, but well worth it. read more
