    Was finally able to get the smoked whitefish pate (been trying for three years but always sold out) and it was worth the multiple attempts to finally get it! Service there was fantastic and Karen, the owner, even let us try some smoked trout. Which we of course got a piece as well. Besides the smoked meats their selection of steaks and homemade sausages are really great! This is a staple place to go on my annual family trips up from Ohio.

    This wonderful 'up north' establishment is more than a place to get outrageously wonderful smoked delights- it is a landmark. A trip to the region is NOT complete without stopping for a pound of smoked whitefish dip (that will run you more than $17.00). Yes, the smoked salmon is good but the whitefish will make memories for your family - because you'll be talking about it forever. Problem is most of my dip never makes it home because I open it immediately in the car and dip just about anything I have available in it to move it to my mouth. Yum. I would pay double the amount if I had too.

    Find a better smoked meats provider, I dare you. It's local. It's fresh, you can't ask for much more. The Bellaire Smokehouse is a converted garage that you drive up to in a small alleyway. The Owners live in the Victorian house in the front, so you know it's a real mom and pop operation. The owners are super helpful and can help you find the perfect item. Smoked wise the bacon, and various sausages are some of the highlights. They also have normal butcher items like steaks and poultry from time to time as well. The real highlight here though, is the smoked fish. In the land of whitefish and walleye, it's nice to find a purveyor of the goods that re so plentiful. Try a piece of smoked salmon, or trout. But whatever you do BE SURE to get some of the whitefish sausage. This is a unique item, and frankly, one of the best things I can say I've eaten in a while. When I swing into town, this is usually my second stop, after picking up some Short's beer that is. But what makes that plan even better is that the Smokehouse has a small selection of craft and specialty beers that pair with the smoked good quite well. If you're entertaining, pick up a white-fish or salmon pate to kick the party off right. Along with the meats, they have a good selection of cheese, crackers and other snacks to make for a wonderful day out on the boat.

    Our friends brought us here and bought smoked whitefish. At it for dinner and it was wonderful! This is a must-try!

    This review is far overdue as we were there back in early July while on a road trip. We were just…read moretalking about it and I remembered that I needed to write this review. When we arrived there were no closed signs or anything but they were having a graduation party. Asked about takeout and they insisted that we join the party and wouldn't accept any payment, only accept a donation to the graduate if we wanted to (of course we did). This actually worked to our favor because we don't eat much so we got to sample very reasonable size portions of several options we might not have gotten to if we purchased a full meal to split. Also, since we were traveling, we wouldn't have been able to keep leftovers and would have felt bad about wasting it. It was also nice to meet and chat with folks from the area. It was one of the highlights of our first trip to this incredible state. The barbecue was so good we're still talking about it months later. The meats were exceptional. Perfect seasoning. Perfect smoke. Obviously high quality meat to start with. The sides were very satisfying as they were traditional, but at a very high standard. This was a place that would beat most, if not all of our local southern joints hands down. I don't know if we'll be back in that area again, but if we are this will be one of our stops for sure.
