This place tasted so bland. No flavor at all! Throw some seasoning on your burgers and fries!! The fries were soggy. The top of my hamburger patty was soggy where the cheese and grease from the meet had soaked it. Guys cooking the food looked like McDonald workers. This place is great! Everything was fresh, including the Ground beef, which for burger fanatics is extremely important. Mcdonalds, BK and others fight these chain food and burger "wars" all over TV, about broiling, patty size etc. All you have to do is use real fresh ground beef like this place dummies! The fries were delicious, and hand cut, (not diner fries) AKA real. 1 order is enough to split between 2 adults. If you are in the area, and are a burger fan, please try this place. read more

Daytime Manager needs to take a course in anger management!! OMG If you are thinking of just ordering a drink and using their wifi, think again. If you are not prepared to order a full meal and just want something to drink, you might want to look elsewhere. There is no "Starbucks" order-a coffee hospitality here. How do I know this? Experience unfortunately. The manager had a parking lot fight with their significant other and took it out on me!! I set up my laptop, order a drink and stepped outside (out of politeness and respect to answer a phone call so I dont disturb others) I am told (in my face) I will have to LEAVE THE PREMISIS (for stepping outside briefly to anwer a call, at it was a brief call) -probably because Im occupying a table. Then, I am told that I am "NOT SPENDING ENOUGH MONEY" on my food and that is grounds for me not being able to eat there. I complained, but I feel beaten up by the manager. For the record, I HAVE !! spent money on this place during other visits, just not on the Daytime Manager's shift. I really dont feel that a small buisness like this can afford to be like this to customers. I like their tuna sliders and burgers, I really do, but I am not comfortable because I am not allowed to relax when I need it so much these days. Do I have to buy a full meal everytime I visit? Please please bellas, I will write a better review if you just choose a different way to treat your customers, even after hours ones like me! read more

Went with a group of 5 tonight, because I had a Groupon, and Peter Genovese gave it a good review in the Star Ledger. Sadly, it wasn't worth the trip. Four of us had the Bella Burger, one made their own burger, one Dirty Dog, one regular Dog, one Chili Dog, and three orders of fries...just so we would be sort of full! The burgers are average but pretty small for the price, the dogs are what you would make at home (although my friend seemed to like the chili that was on his dog) and the fries were overly greasy...like 5 Guys...and two orders were less than warm. Also, it took too long for us to get our orders for a place like this. They were also out of all chicken wings and out of the pulled pork, even though it was hours before closing. They only offer Wild Bill's soda, which is pretty awesome, but the only diet one they carry is root beer, which is not good for someone watching their sugars or carbs. Overall, Bella's is decent enough but nothing special. I can't see any of us making a return visit though, unfortunately. read more

I recently found and enthusiastically ate here a very good example of what you might call the country cousin of the frankfurter: The Corn Dog. No pre-packaged offering, the corn dog at Bella's Burger Shack (2 S Finley Ave, back of building, Basking Ridge, NJ, 07920) is what they inform is a "locally sourced," all-beef, natural casing dog hand-battered and perfectly deep fried. I'm here to tell you that it is the best corn dog I've eaten east of the Jefferson County Fair, Fairfield, Iowa, 52556. The young lady behind the counter didn't know the exact provenance of the tube steak within...only that it's, again, locally sourced from a provision company. I thought it tasted quite fine, and played its part in the combo-delicacy with notable aplomb....although, curiously, a cross section of the frank divulged a light, pinkish texture, which, to me generally means a pork component. Additionally, I thought there was a hint of porkiness....though, perhaps, this was a smokiness I mistook for pork. Or, it could be I was harkening back to Iowa, the cornfields, the fair, and, just maybe, the memory of the racing pigs somehow seeped into my tastebud control center. In any case, while not quite like finding a shorter route to the East, I feel great accomplishment and fulfillment. This is now going to be my go-to place for corn dogs. Now, if I could only find a good place for the ever-elusive chicken croquettes, and another for the even scarcer French apple pie. read more

I went to Bella's Burger Shack on a Monday to take advantage of the all day $1.00 slider special. I ordered 3 sliders 1 with cheese sauce and the Onion Rings. Total was almost $8.00. The sliders were ok, a little too thick for my taste and did not have any seasoning on them that I could detect. The were served with sautéed onions, sliced pickles weren't offered. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something was missing from the burgers that would make them delicious. The sliders at White Mana in Jersey City are far superior in taste. I will give Bella's another try though. Next time I will skip the cheese sauce and try real cheese and only order 2 sliders, 3 were a bit much because of the thickness of the meat. The onion rings were excellent hand breaded onion rings they were fried to order, very fresh and crispy. No complaints there. read more

Been here twice. Burgers barely bigger than a slider. Both times fries cold, soggy and greasy. Always a lot of people behind the counter but usually talking amongst themselves rather than helping the line of customers. Management needs to work on the customer service. read more

I am very unhappy with my experience at this restaurant. After buying very small portions of food for a large amount of money, I started becoming displeased with the customer service. It started with a waiter cursing at the table next to us that they must get out of the restaurant even though they were minding their own business. Then another waitress forced us out of their restaurant while we were still eating our greasy fries and drinking our sodas. As soon as we left the restaurant it started raining, but I guess that's more mother nature's fault. Still putting the blame on the restaurant since they treated me poorly. Do not go here unless you want your feelings hurt and your stomach upset. read more

Cheap, fast and easy. The ambiance is quite nice, and they do a good job of keeping the place clean and nice-looking. The food is decent, and the prices are really affordable. I suppose this goes without saying, but I couldn't find much on the menu that I could eat after going vegetarian about a year ago... Either way, it's a couple steps up from a typical fast-food joint, and a decent place to go for a quick meal. read more

We bought food and sat down, within 10 minutes the staff tried to kick me out because I was still picking at my food, but wait it gets better, when I got home I started throwing up and went to the doctor and they said I had gotten food poisoning. Came in at 2 pm with nobody in the place. First of all it's impossible to find . Two teenage kids sitting at the counter doing zero and of zero help. I order my stuff and sit around as one kid reads a magazine,another watching the Red Bulls game and the "chef" sits and continues to bread fish for 5 minutes before he realizes its time to cook some food. Out of the back room pop's another south of the border chef with no gloves on who proceeds to put the cheese on my burgers with his dirty fingers. After staring him down, as I get up to blast him he's smart enough to put gloves on and start the process over. He puts the hot dog on but doesn't heat the grilled onions. To speed the process up to watch the soccer game he presses the burgers with the spatula till they are bone dry. The hot dog is cold inside and colder due to the onions that he flipped out of the can and onto the "cold Dog". Kid asks me how my meal was and I tell him it was horrible. He says sorry and goes back to watching the game. 5 guys blows this place away and it's a hell of a lot easier to find. I will never go back again. read more
