    How many shrimp I ate
    Gabe D.

Absolutely delicious, head about 70 shrimp with the all you can eat shrimp Thursday, unfortunately I had to rush back home probably two times the speed limit and have been immobilized on the toilet for about an hour with explosive diarrhea, amazing food, staff started getting a little fed up with me, when I left I heard a relieved sigh, 10/10 would do again pretty good place, sorry for the inconvenience, really nice people, best 30$ I've ever spent

Greek Pizza on a GF crust, with no tomatoes

I give four stars 'cause everyone else in my party loves going to Bella's. Folks enjoy the Pizza, the Chicken Parmesan and other dishes. But because I'm gluten intolerant, and have other food sensitivities, my options at Bella's are limited, and they refuse to make substitutions. So, I ordered the grilled fish with mashed potatoes. It normally has green beans as a side, but I can't eat them, so I just left them off. If you don't have any sensitivities, I think you'll find Bella's to be a nice local restaurant with a good selection.

    Chicken wings saga part 2.
    Dave B.

Worlds record for smallest chicken wings (x5 out of an order of 10!), which was noted as amusing but unconcerning by the waitress. Pizza was okay, but otherwise unpleasant experience. Wish we would have got the lowdown from locals earlier - when we told them we went to Bella's, they cringed and recommended Fortify and a couple of other places. Don't make the same mistake we did.

    Baked Ziti time!

Bella's is located in a small shopping center. There is plenty of parking. The sidewalk serves as their outdoor dining area. We dined inside, with approximately a dozen tables/booths. There is also a small bar/counter with approximately 3-4 seats. The server stated that she was still fairly new but she did a very good job. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us a few times during our meal. I had baked ziti and a side salad and my sister had a small pizza. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The restaurant was very clean. I do recommend this restaurant. I only saw one large table with approximately 8 seats so this is probably a good place for 4 people or less in a party. P.s. the garlic knot was delicious. Very soft and fresh!

The not "grouper" grouper we ordered. This is not what grouper looks like. See the skinny tail at the end?

Everything about the restaurant was so special, amazing location for a sunset dinner, perched high above the Blue Ridge Mountains - amazing views. The best thing is if you stay at the Skyline Lodge, it's just steps away from your room and that comes in super handy when it's brunch time! We were fortunate enough to enjoy these two meals; dinner & brunch with our kids (who are foodies too) and they are now huge fans of Oak Steakhouse. They said it was the best steak they ever had, you can't go wrong with the Filet! The menu is not huge but really has all of the dishes you would want for an amazing dinner. Plenty of options, even if you don't eat steak. Amazing sides to accompany each dish and you must start with the bread, which is made in-house. I went with a dish I have not tried before and it did not disappoint, Venison Wellington while my wife tried the trout. I will let the photos do the talking. They also pour an amazing espresso martini by the way and to finish you have to try the chocolate cake, trust me! We also want to give a shot out to all of the staff and servers; their attention to detail and overall service was outstanding! Seems to be the case at all Indigo Road establishments, they really know hospitality. We cannot recommend Oak Steakhouse enough, even if you're not staying there but in the Highlands of NC make sure you give them a visit.

Our server was very friendly and (unprompted) comped our bread service after a lengthy delay. Once received, the bread was amazing and went nicely with my lettuce wedge salad. The entrees were excellent as well, with my wife loving her risotto and my steak frites being top notch with fork-tender beef and amazing truffle fries. The portions are generous so to-go bags are a common sight. Oak is not inexpensive, but clearly the value is there if you are looking for a proper steakhouse experience near Highlands.

Our groups of six sampled a few of the amazing cocktails with the Stekoa Sour being a huge hit. I think 3-4 came out for us. The complimentary muffins were outstanding; so much so we asked for some to go. We ordered the mountain queso, bone marrow steak tartare and brussel sprouts for the table. All mouthwatering, but the sprouts stole the show. I could drink that sauce! Our entrees included a Caesar salad with chicken, house salad with chicken, bolognese, Tuscan chicken pasta, meatloaf, and short ribs. Everything hit! So stuffed, but wait there's more! They provided complimentary desserts of our choice since three of us were celebrating a birthday. Do not skip the carrot cake OR the apple crumb cake with dulce de leche ice cream. Nearly licked the plates. On top of how amazing everything was, it was also so fairly priced. Such a wonderful treat. I'm so sad I live seven hours away and only visit annually. They had a live entertainer. "George" playing the guitar and singing... quite well done. Not overly obtrusive... not too loud. A good meal at a good price. I would come back.

We had been to the previous establishment ( Rabun Manor ) and liked it but knew they were going to be under new ownership soon. I called and surprisingly there were tables available. I should have known better.......... It is a beautiful setting and the outside decorations were nicely done ( Halloween ) . We were greeted at the door and seated in a quaint sunroom type of dining room. The troubles from there forward were just not acceptable. The wait staff that we had were uniformed, slow, non attentive and down right lousy. Had to ask for my wife's Prosecco twice and its not like you have to mix up a drink, you pour this straight out of the bottle. Started with one of my wife's favorites, fried green tomatoes......which I never had. They were actually red tomatoes, soggy topped with a sundried tomato aioli, which seemed out of place. Sent that app back with condolences from the chef who actually said that his green tomatoes had turned red. There is a huge tomato farm just a short walk from the resort. Take a walk Luigi !!!!! We looked at each other and said lets try 2 more apps and call it a night. We ordered the flatbread with sun dried tomatoes........soggy, tasteless and the tomatoes were hard to bite thru. Also ordered the steakhouse chili which came to the table looking quite sad. It was " chili " on top of tortilla chips. Again very soggy, full of mostly tomatoes and we found 6 pieces of steak in this mess. Being that my wife is one of the best cooks I have ever known, I do have high expectations but this was an utter shame and a sham of a restaurant. Save yourself the trouble, money and embarrassment of this place and try another place or just stay home, it's safer.

I noticed the window sign said "Angie's Clayton Cafe" and whilst being seated at 11:45AM on Tuesday June 2, 2026, noted the wall art had changed, no more local memorabilia, and the menu is now a well worn, two sheet pieces of copy paper. No problem, the place was nearing capacity per usual and we did get a window seated table. But, then I noticed, no collard greens on the menu. So, if you read my earlier reviews, you will note that I have eaten at quite a few "meat and three" style country diners and that I also know how to cook this food at home. That's a big qualifier, because Clayton Cafe had become a part of our destination trip to Clayton from Greenville, SC. It was just that good, a notch above the crowd. I didn't find this experience to be the same. The decor, service, ambiance was the same. Even the same crowd starting a 15 minute table wait shortly after noon. Business has not suffered, but the food is not the same. Overall, everything was less flavorful, more bland. The highlight, the white sawmill gravy was piping hot and flowed well, not a gloopy mess and I like that it was served on the side. The country fried steak was tender, but it had less crunch on the crust and was significantly bland - pepper and salt please. The green beans had a small chunk of meat involved, but they too were very bland and lacked a depth of flavor expected from the hamhock, the biscuit was good, but not the buttery crusty biscuit if yore. The okra was straight up flour breading with no cornmeal in the mixture and that's a game changer on this dish. Fried chicken was good. Squash, or squash casserole was a bland mess and left uneaten. Don't get me wrong. This three star rating means "OK". It's still a good meat and three. It's just not an exceptional meat and three as experiences my multiple prior visits. So that's when I asked the server if the restaurant had changed owners and yes, in April 2026. Well, there ya go, but Bon Chance to the new owners and Godspeed towards the hard work and keeping it going. Obviously, a full house lunch crowd on a Tuesday in June shows positive momentum. I'm just saying, pay attention to flavor, both in depth and complexity, to make these Southern standards stand out from the meat and three crowd.
