Pros: This is the best pizza I've had in the Memphis area. Especially the Bella's 6 cheese. Very very good. Our 3 kids agreed with that and asked to go back. Might not sound like a big endorsement but Bella's made my kids actually like pizza! To me that's huge. Also, their prices are reasonable. The staff was very friendly. And thankfully they were open "late" by COVID standards and had indoor dining available. The bathrooms were clean. They had TVs going for patrons to watch. Their menu had plenty to offer without it being an overwhelmingly & unnecessarily long menu. Cons: They weren't super strict about proper mask wearing. (I get it. But it's an honest observation.) The place could use some TLC - particularly the booths. We got overcharged by several dollars for our very basic salad. According to the menu it was a $4.99 salad and we were charged $6.99. (Not huge in the long run but was off-putting AND I should have definitely said something about this before leaving.) That's about it! First and last time trying here. All our pizzas were undercooked, floppy, and tasted off. Ordered larges of supreme, Hawaiian, pesto chicken, pepperoni, and wings. Stingy with toppings and pesto pizza was white. Only 1 Price per item and 1 non descriptive size listed on menu online turns out to be for smalls. Lg was $7. Additional per pizza we realized afterwards. Ranch had zero flavor. Questions about menu were met with rude attitude by 2 different employees. Strange and not pleasant experience. I have driven by this place a thousand times, and there never seemed to be many cars in the parking lot. Tonight I was in the mood for pizza but not from the usual places I go. I checked Yelp and saw that this place got decent reviews, so I figured I would give it a shot. At the height of dinner time, only two tables were occupied when I arrived, and they were finished and about to leave. There was a big industrial fan in the middle of the floor blowing right toward the table where I sat down, and there was a back door about 15-20 feet behind the fan that was propped open. It was 60 degrees outside so the fan wasn't needed to cool the place down, and the floor was not wet, so I don't know why the fan was being used. Since I didn't want to sit where this fan was blowing, I moved toward a table at the other end of the restaurant but noticed that there was a smaller fan in the floor blowing in that area. There was a waiter behind the bar, and I very discreetly asked him, "What's the deal with the fan?" He looked at me like I had lost my mind and said, "Fan? What fan?" After I got over the initial thought that I was being punked, I pointed to the big fan that was about 10 feet away from us, and said, "That fan. Is that normal?" While still looking at me like I had escaped from a lunatic asylum, he replied, "Yeah. That's normal." I turned around and walked out of the restaurant. The place appears old and dingy, so maybe their AC doesn't work, but it wasn't needed tonight and I had no desire to have dinner with a big fan blowing on me. read more

We dined here last night for the first time. The atmosphere is a little on the divey side, but those places usually have the best food. Bella's is no exception. I get the impression this is a family run restaurant. Service is friendly and efficient. We ordered draft beers (2 for 1 all the time & only $4.99) garlic knots, hot wings, a large Greek Salad & a Margherita pizza. The knots were a disappointment- small & cold, but the rest of the meal was pretty great. The wings are fat little drumsticks, offered in a myriad of choices as to sauce. The Greek Salad was fresh and tasty.But that pizza, y'all, makes me want to wax poetic. The crust is the perfect thickness for me, more on the thin side. It has sort of a buttery flavor to it. We asked the server about it & she wasn't sure, but I suspect the crust was brushed with olive oil & par-baked. The sauce is not too sweet nor too tart, and the cheese is actually real cheese, caramelized to perfection . *chef's kiss*. My only "sort of" complaint is, there are pots & pots of fresh beautiful basil growing on the back deck, but they used dried on the pizza. Odd. I just happened to be going into Walgreens when I noticed Bella's Pizzeria across the street just opened up next door to Lim's Tailoring. I decided to drive across the street & try out Bella's Pizzaera for dinner. As I walk in I notice how clean their dining room and bar area is then I proceeded to seat myself & pour over a great selection of menu choices from the appetizers & main entrees. Everything looked so good but I decided on a salad with some garlic knots to start off my meal along with a PBR. My Greek salad was pretty good as it consisted of fresh lettuce feta cherry tomatoes & some anchovies to add flavor. After finishing my salad & PBR I called my server over & she promptly took my order for my main course which consisted of a small pepperoni pizza which was excellent as the pizza was baked to perfection with the right amounts of Cheese sauce and topping proportion and the dough and crust was neither doughy or burnt like a few other pizzerias. My overall dining experience was excellent as my server was quick friendly and prompt getting my orders out to my table. The cook in back prepped my order to perfection from my salad right down to my pizza got everything on point. I've also had a great delivery experience when I ordered my wings salad and Pizza. They also cooked their wings to perfection leaving nothing to chance from the sauce to the temperature of my wings and the pizza was once again on point. I will be recommending this place to my friends and family for dine in carry out or delivery. I will be a return patron to this establishment as they have made my dining experiences enjoyable. They have a new buffet option but it's disorganized and you only have three pizza options: Cheese, Pepperoni, Veggie Lovers. They bring the pizza out to you two slices at a time, along with salad and spaghetti. Our poor guy only had three tables but he seemed perpetually confused. A friend of ours didn't get any pizza until after hubby had gotten his second round (which she refused). At one point the server actually touched the slices to put them on my husband's plate. Noooo don't touch the food... I'm not sure what's happened, but things have definitely taken a turn for the worse. We are very sad. They need more staff, desperately. But the food just doesn't taste the same as it used to. We have gotten to go orders from here before and it was a good experience but we have never tried delivery. They start after 4 and it's free. There's some good vegetarian options here beyond just the pizza. I didn't like that the sampler was everything all together with cheese sauce on it as it was difficult to share. Mom wasn't impressed with the gyro but I still love it. I also was deeply impressed with the chicken parmesan, which I got for Mom and never would've tried myself otherwise. . Their pasta dishes come with garlic knots and side salads. The balsamic dressing is a little strong so it's best to get it on the side (we always do just in case). The knots were pretty good as well. The Parking lot up front is small but there's more parking in the back (as well as a small outdoor seating area). The owner also owns two doughnut places and I cannot wait to try Jody's- they're open til about 8 or 9! They are an EXCELLENT Italian place that knows how to season their food and really represent the pizza business and Italian foods a real service. Delivery is fast and free here, I mean every time I have used the online ordering https://slicelife.com/ which is slice life dot com. That's important because when you use a search engine to find them it gives you lots of wrong results and their original website looks like it's disappeared and the slice site has taken it's place. Not to worry though because it has the full menu and they always get it right and they are the fastest delivery of all the pizza places around. I have ordered from the website and using the android app and they both work just fine so no worries. The offerings are soot on for Italian with appetizers like mozzarella sticks, garlic knots, toasted ravioli, meatballs and wings. As for entrees they've got spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, stuffed shells, cannelloni, fettuccine alfredo with shrimp or chicken and ravioli. They've got some really good salads and even offer some decent subs plus you can round it out with tiramisu, cannoli and NY cheesecake. Of course the offer a big selection of all kinds of pizza from just a slice up to a 16" and they even a gluten-free crust is available. The margherita pizza is my favorite baked well done and it doesn't need a thing because it is seasoned just right and it reminds me of pizza from NY and Chicago, not bad at all. The people are professional and take pride in their product and that's all that I can ask for in my restaurant of choice. So I have no reservations giving Bella's a 5 star recommendation and unless something changes this will be one of my go to places for an Italian fix and absolutely my first choice for pizza and for delivery. I really wanted to support a local restaurant and thought I had found a winner with Bella's. My husband and I order the margherita pizza a few weeks ago and loved it! We even learned that they grow the basil out back. We went back the next week and again got a margherita plus a Bronx special. Even after waiting 10 minutes longer than the online order pickup time, the pizzas were still good and worth the wait. But tonight OMG! First another 10 minute wait (not cool as I still don't feel comfortable in a restaurant and always get my food to go). So how do you go from 5 stars to 1 in one go? Once again I was the first and only customer. It was almost 12 and they open at 10:30. There was no smell of anything being cooked. I asked for tea and the girl said she'd have to make some. She asked if I wanted something else instead, but I said I was fine with waiting. I ordered a calzone and about 10 minutes later (they've been open 1 1/2 hours, no tea. I ordered a Stromboli roll. I could tell she wasn't making tea because she and the cook were having some type of argument. After I heard a couple F-bombs, their one and only customer walked out the door. I didn't like their pizza before and the only reason I gave a good rating was because it was so cheap. When she explained the special, I noticed that it's no longer 2 toppings, it's 1 now. There goes the value. I am writing this from Memphis Pizza Cafe where there are about 20 people eating, the smell of food hit me at the door, and the waitress is smiling and ever so friendly. I don't see the reason to return. First - the pizzas had a good flavor, but they were too thin and lightly topped for the price. Salad looked fresh...though tasted a little chemically. Second - the dining room decor and restroom were.ehh; though they were clean. That's enough to conclude the star rating. There are too many other pizza options to prompt a return. I do not rate a place based on service or individual personnel because every body has bad days. Service affects a rating only if problems are obviously systemic from management or owners' rules. Yet if I wavered between 2 or 3 stars the fact there was only one counter person and basics like refills and napkins were ignored probably sealed the deal. A wine glass was brought with lipstick/gloss on the side and the server asked the guys sitting at the bar (manager, customer?) whether it would be OK to pour the wine into a new glass. This made me think, "I wonder if other decisions, I.e. hand washing, require such pause. read more

I was pleasantly surprised and will be back. Service was excellent. it's a tad pricey.. 15.99 for a med specialty pizza or about the same price when we ordered a med 10.99 + 2 toppings at 1.89 ea topping. If it wasn't really good I would have been disappointed... but it was really good It's in an older little dated shopping center but they did an ok job fixing it up. I'm glad this restaurant is open during COVID-19, however I'm disappointed that I ordered an 18" pizza specifically with left side pepperoni, right side no topping as I wanted the other half to be cheese. I made the drive home to find I had a full pepperoni pizza. Meaning a member of my family will not be eating pizza tonight. We did however like the garlic knots and will chalk this up to human error. Not bad but not great for the price. We ordered delivery. The wings were cooked perfectly but I wouldn't recommend the garlic Parmesan sauce. They were not flavorful so the wings were kinda boring. Our large cheese pizza, which was also cooked perfectly, was supposed to come with Roma tomatoes on top and there were exactly 5 small slices on the entire pizza. Lol.
