I have been here since I moved up the peninsula and learned about the business originally via groupon. They do great waxing. I go back there on a regular basis, for both full arm wax as well as brazilian. They have the variety of wax types, appropriate for the different areas and waxing. Great service ,cleanliness and scheduling. They have an easy online system that you can book your appointments with, and provide any specific requests. Their availability is good, but you know that they have many returning customers when their schedule can be full if you wait until the last minute to plan. This spa is nice. Does things a little different and a little slower paced in some ways. I came in with a Groupon and was wowed into buying some additional gift Certs at the Groupon price. Problem I've had is that getting in here is difficult. Yes, they have online booking but it's always for a week out. Even calling there is no way to get in that day or the next it's always several days out. I get it, it's a small shop. The quality is decent but not superstar stellar and the price is pretty extreme. I just want to get done using my gift certs so I can find somewhere more amenable to getting me in on my schedule not just theirs. I was very excited to try this place out. I received a gift certificate for a hot hydration pedicure from a friend. I am a busy mom and I look forward to my gel manicures and pedicures. 1st thing that annoyed me was making an appointment. This place never answers the phone! I was thinking a good sign because they are probably busy and are appointment only. But no they don't answer because there's only one person working.. I would get a call back but the time slots were so hard to work with my schedule! I finally got an appointment. I get to the day spa and the lady seemed friendly but seemed to be annoyed with me. I sat down and she didn't try to make any kind of conversation. She told me to pick a color for my toes and I found a cute light hot pink color from Essie's new "gel" not gel collection... the lady says "THAT ONE IS $5 MORE!" Ok?? That's fine I like it and I have a gift certificate anyway right?! So ok n then I tell her I also need a gel manicure.. I look at colors n I asked about the mood polish... she replies the same way.. "$5 MORE!!" I'm thinking wow okay... whatever I need a mani that's fine! Anyway I get the pedi it was OKAY. You know usually I get the tingly "oh wow" my toes feel clean feeling.. this pedi was just okay.. n felt like a polish change. Same for the gel manicure. N they whole time I was thinking hmm they do a lot of exfoliating, hot lotion and masks... I didn't ask for this. I got up to pay... n she takes out the calculator n she goes "$60.." I'm like what????? For a gel manicure?! I could've gone to my place for both a mani n pedi so a wayyyy better job, conversation, coffee/water/tea n a bigger selection of colors! Way over priced. You can get comparable or better service elsewhere for much less. The verbage on their advertising/brochures were probably taken from a real spa but don't let it fool you. That's all it is...advertising but with no truth. If you've ever had an aromatherapy massage, it includes oil infused with lavender or peppermint for examples because it affects your mood to relax. Not at this place. I read the ingredients of the oil used and it had perfume. I don't mind paying more as long as I get what I paid for. Not at this place. There won't be a next time. The staff at Bellezza are very professional and make sure your treatments are done to your satisfaction. They quickly incorporate you into a "family" status and keep you coming back for more. I had a horrible experience at this spa. I got the skin tag removal with May. She completely butchered me and left me with life long scars and hundreds of dollars worth of doctors bills. She went sooo deep in my skin I had pain for months!!! The dermatologist I had to see stated that May went way too deep and did not use professional technique to remove my really small skin tags! And to make matters worse, when I notified her, all she cares about was me signing a form releasing legal liability for her mistake. It sounded like she had been through this before. I was educating her on what the doctor said and she knew nothing about the healing process or proper names of the layers of skin! I can't believe I was stupid enough to get anything done at this dirty place. Please go somewhere professional. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. read more

*Groupon Review* Trying not to give a scathing review since I did not have a chance to have services here but let me tell you why. Scenario: I call on Friday: "Hi, would you happened to have any appt available today (they close at 7 and I called at 5:20) Receptionist:"Oh, we can fit you in, can you be here by 5:45?" in an eager voice. Me: "Great! I can be there, thanks so much, and I have a Groupon" Receptionist: "(Pause)You know, we actually don't have any space today, can we book you for another time?" So I booked for the next day at 1:30PM, and she firmly ends the call with a comment "if you are late, your Groupon will be counted as used and invalid" I am on my way to my appt and it's a quarter to 1PM, it would take me 5 minutes to get there, my phone rang and I answered with my headset. Receptionist states that they don't have any space or time today, (very wishy washy) and perhaps I can come in at 1PM rather then 1:30, I answer: "Sure, I can be there in 5 minutes, I'm on my way so 1PM is great" Receptionist: (Pause)" oh, we don't have any space during that time, maybe 1:30" (!!!???) WTF, she was setting me up to be late, she didn't even have a time in her head to have me in, her last suggestion was at 5, I already made my day's schedule, of course I couldn't make it. She told me that she wants to accommodate everyone accordingly. According to what, treat me like a second class citizen because I have a Groupon? If your business cannot handle Groupon, then don't have it. People ACTUALLY pay for these so do not treat them any different. I am not the super girly girl type who gets facials on a biweekly or monthly basis. I only go when my skin starts to act up. And acting up it has. My face has been breaking out with these annoying under-the-skin bumps here and there, especially on the forehead and chin. After many attempts to get me to come to Bellezza, Anabelle B. finally piqued by interest by informing me about their grand opening special of 50% (FIFTY, HALF, 1/2) off all facials for first-timers. 30% off mani's, pedi's, and all waxes too. How can you not resist a deal like that?! I made my appointment with May, the owner and main aesthetician at Bellezza, and she is seriously as cool and friendly as everyone describes her. She was so easy to talk to -- we were discussing everything from our childhood to the men in our lives. But more importantly, she's very professional and an expert at what she does. She told me what she was doing during each step of the facial. As a facial n00b, this really helped me calm the nerves. The spa is very tidy and the decor is simple. The treatment rooms are clean and inviting. Relaxing music is played while you're receiving your facial. It's so relaxing that it'd be no surprise if you fell asleep to the Anya-like music and the gentle hands of May. For a facial that lasted over an hour, my treatment set me back less than $40! I gave May a generous tip as a token of appreciation for her lovely services and as a sure sign that I'll definitely be back again. The grand opening specials last until January 15, 2009. With all the rain not letting up and work, work, work, I wanted to get a little pampered with a mani/pedi. Being a Sunday, I was hoping to find something that wasn't located in a crowded shopping mall. Thankfully, I found this place. Bellazza is located in a small quiet strip mall with ample parking spaces. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem nearby. It is super clean with beautiful decor, and it provided a very relaxing environment. The staff was very friendly. I gave up on putting nail polish on my hands because they begin to chip within hours. However, the staff explained how Gellac works and so I tried it. It's been 2 weeks and my nails still look fresh and glossy! Even after a week of literally moving furniture, filing, washing dishes, etc., etc.! They also accommodated my last minute request for waxing. This review is more about Bellezza's way of doing business and not the service itself. I purchased a Groupon for a hot hydration mani-pedi combo. Called the salon to make an appointment and NO ONE answered the phone. I must have called for 2 days straight without getting a live person on the phone. If it wasn't for someone's review here on Yelp, I wouldn't have found out that you can book online (which is what I ended up doing). On the 3rd day though someone finally answered and said they were fully booked for about a week. Luckily I had already made my appointment online! Next... Get to the salon and it is decent. It just looked like an upgraded Asian salon to me, nothing special. I took my daughter with me and asked how much would it be to file her nails and paint them, the lady at the front quoted me with a price of $15 which is OUTRAGEOUS! I have never been to a salon that charges that much to file and paint a child's nails. Price range is usually $5-$7. I've been to more fu-fu places than this and they don't charge that much either. Next... I showed the lady a picture of a mani I wanted.. I guess you can say it was a "design" but it wasn't a really detailed design. All it was was a half moon. She told me it would be extra and I asked her how much? She sighed an annoyed sigh and went to the back to ask someone else. Came back out and said $5 for 2 nails. So that would be $5x5=$25 extra.. on top of what I already paid for the Groupon. You got to be kidding me??? I pay that price for my acrylics and the lady that does them does whatever design I want.. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also when I was looking at the color selection I had a couple of OPI INFINITE SHINE polishes in my hand.. the lady walks by and tells me that they're an extra $5. LORD! They just really charge for everything here! This place I go to in the city has that AND CND VINYLUX at NO EXTRA CHARGE and on top of that the mani-pedi combo is regularly the same price I purchased this Groupon for! The service itself was good, no complaints. My nails were filed and painted correctly. Sugar scrub smelled really good. They also put an "organic" mask on my arms and legs although I don't know what the point of that was.. maybe some excuse to jack up the price of the service. The hot hydration mani-pedi is regularly $60 which I cannot believe. Wayyyy toooo overpriced! Also I don't know what type of scrub, lotion and mask they used on me since it's already taken out of the container when they put it on you.. hell if I know it could be some really cheap s***! They also offered me another hot hydration mani-pedi at $45 if I pre book for a future date, that's still way over priced. In the end I asked if I could leave a tip on my credit card for them as I did not have any cash, they said yes but added that the minimum charge on a cc is $15. At this point I literally laughed out loud, these people are just really funny. Most likely the absolute worst shellac mani and pedi I've ever had. I appreciate them taking me as a walk in and their customer service, however the quality of what I received was awful. In addition to the poor quality of my manicure, it was a lot more expensive than what I'm used to paying. I get my nails done every two weeks at various salons. I pay at most $45... At this salon, I paid $55 not including tip and they have a $50 for $30 special they didn't tell me about. I won't come here again and so sad about my nails. :( read more

Got here early (like 45 minutes cause I work in the area and didn't want to wait in my car). The ladies greeted me and told me to have a sear. Comfy sofa area, nice. I have no problem waiting for my appt. What I do have a problem with is them badmouthing me in Chinese for arriving early. They think they can get away with it because I spoke to them in English. So unbelievably rude! I've never been to a place where service providers complain about you being early! I was here today to get my facial and May did a great job and she advised me get a herbal peel, it was such a pamper to me. I felt so good and thank you so much for a great service. Before I came, I saw a lot of negative reviews here from other people, they were complaining about extra charge on this and that. Personally I feel it is fair, you want extra service, you pay extra amount. Like supercuts, they charge everything on top of your haircut, wash, blow dry , flat iron etc. everything add up, your bill may came up sixty something dollars, there is no free meal in this world anymore. Even though it was not me who had a horrible experience, I feel the need to write another review for this awful business. I feel like I've done a pretty good job at advising my friends to STAY away from these unprofessional, untrained and ignorant people. But unfortunately a good friend (who does not use yelp) was there for a pedicure and ended up with a fungal infection that almost caused her toe to be amputated. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN. If I could give this place minus stars I would. I had the worst most painful brazilian wax I have ever experienced here. It literally took an HOUR from when I walked in til when I left. That is unheard of! I swear the woman who waxed me was pulling the strips off like she hated me. Holy moly it was so painful. She kept on waxing the same spots over and over which equaled a whole lot of hurt. When I got home I realized that she had actually created a tear in my skin which really stung. As the Yelp rating says, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Because it really is. May was wonderful with making me feel at home during my facial. As a guy, I get quite a bit self-conscious when I have others handle cosmetics-related troubles for me, but May did it like a pro. I scheduled for a Pure Acne Oxygen Facial and I felt like my face was completely lifted from months (or even years) of trauma afterwards. I don't feel as dry with my skin anymore and definitely more smoother with less blackheads. May was also a wonderful conversationalist. I love my nails! This time, I walked in, May asked if I was me, then told me to go ahead pick my colors and have a seat. I was offered water or something to drink, and I refused but I appreciated the offer. (Didn't mean to eavesdrop but the room was so quiet) I heard her talking with her current client and I noticed that she has good relationships with clients, and was able to have a great conversation with her! Lori was the woman doing my nails. She was quieter but she paid attention to detail which I like because many nail places I've been to will miss the sides of my nails or it would be uneven or something, but my nails turned out and stayed perfect! I got the hydration mani pedi because I had a Groupon, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. The "3-5 minute massage" was maybe 30-40 seconds long. It was much needed after work but I was like whatever. I was also using the massage chair while she was doing my pedicure and she snapped really quick and said "Stop with the massage chair! You keep moving!" If she asked beforehand in a nicer way, I wouldn't have played with the different massages. I should've known, but the immediate tone of her voice just caught me off guard. In terms of how my nails ended up, I absolutely love it! If I do come back, it'd just be for one of the classic services since the extra massage and scrubs weren't up to par, neither was the attitude. 5 stars for the nails. Minus 1 for my first experience and minus another for the short massage/scrub/little attitude. Still would recommend this place and to just get the classic!! Ask for May in my opinion. read more

My husband bought me a Groupon for a mani/pedi here, so I came in ths weekend to take advantage of it. First off, I definitely wouldn't call this place a "day spa" -- when I think of that term, I think of an actual spa, not what appears to be just another nail salon. It appears clean and is decorated nicely, but it definitely doesn't have that relaxing calm spa atmosphere. And it's in a dingy strip-mall type of building in a busy not-so-nice area of El Camino Real. Parking was a bitch too -- the parking lot was totally full when I arrived and I ended up having to park down one of the side streets near someone's yard sale. Not spa-like, ya know? The package I had was for the "Royal" mani/pedi which included a paraffin treatment. The process was nice, but I felt like it as really rushed. The technician just seemed to be blasting from one step to the next, and the massages literally lasted like 1-2 minutes each. WTF? She was very nice and friendly, but I didn't really feel like it was a whole lot of pampering. So if you have a Groupon, give it a whirl....but I'm glad I wasn't paying full price for the treatment because I don't feel like it was really worth it. read more

I was looking for a spa for facials in the San Bruno area so that I would not have to make the trek to San Francisco. I found Bellezza on Yelp and thought I'd try them out. I was very happy with the facial I received from May. The best part was that I didn't get any breakouts afterwards! This was the only facial other than the oxygen facial at The Bliss spa in SF, that didn't give me breakouts post facial. The ambiance was okay, compares to the other local spa, The Invitation that I used to go to few years back. The massage bed could be a little cozier and would prefer a quick foot massage which some of the spas provide along with facials :-) However, May did give me a hand and neck massage, so I guess she is even. read more

Yet, I was determined to find MY aesthetician, and thank goodness I found May at Bellezza. I called on a Sunday, and she was able to take me that afternoon. The spa looks beautiful and most importantly, clean. May was friendly and she answered any questions I had (I probably had too many/talked toO much). BUT lets get to the most important part of this review--my facial! It's been a day since my facial and THIS was the best one I've gotten in my life, no joke. Immediately after my facial, I could feel the difference, and a day after, I feel even better. I don't mind tearing up during extractions, because I understand that it needs to be done, but May was gentle and I didn't tear at all this time. She asked how I felt after applying a solution to my face and she explained why it tingled/stung etc..., and I didn't feel rushed at all (and i hate that feeling). Used a Groupon. Total rip-off. When I went in today, I was charged tax which has never happened at any other place where I have used Groupons, She did give me a reciept after I asked for it. The spa mani-pedi is laughable. Uncomfortable seats, rough service, no massage, did not put any mask on my hands and feet - just the forearms and calves. Very odd spa mani pedi for sure. A bought a Groupon for 3 Brazilian wax for $70. This spa is incredibly hard to get ahold of and after trying, by phone, three times to make an appointment I finally drive over to make it only to have the system down and unable to make the appointment. The woman was irritated that I was even there... My Groupon was set to expire at which time the owner told me she would still honor it. When I called back to give her the groupon number SHE requested she said that she had made a mistake and would only grant me one wax. Ok fine, so I asked her to honor the $70 that I had paid for the Groupon. She then gave my a story about how she doesn't make any money from the Groupon that it all goes to groupon and how hard it is for a business owner to do business with Groupon... She said at one point that was the way my nail is shaped -_-. The business owner informed me of the $10 price to take off gel polish if it was not done there which is ridiculously high. I bought a Groupon for Bellezza Day Spa and wasn't sure what to expect. In the back of my mind I anticipated that either the service or the application of gel would suck and convinced myself that I made an impulsive purchase. I called the same day I bought the groupon and was able to get in the following afternoon. When i walked in I was not acknowledged right away, as the receptionist or owners daughter was on her iphone. I walked up to her to let her know I had an appointment and she informed me that I was too early. I killed half an hour and walked back in for my appointment. I don't even know her name because she never told me, but i'm sure it was the owner. She was very sweet and definitely made sure I was not bored to death. Given the fact that my nails were super short, my gel mani did not come out the way I wanted. The application of the gel polish itself as well as the shape of my finger nails were not even. The lady who did my pedi cut my toe nails really short. I was not aware that I my toe nails could be so short. Have you ever seen someones toe nail where it looks like its just a line? no nail? well i was almost there lol!! On the other hand,the gel mani lasted about 3 weeks and didn't chip at all. Got this as a groupon with my boyfriend. I called to make an appointment yesterday, literally called 9 times before anyone answered. I had to get my nails done before my sons baptism. We finally were able to get an appointment the next day. We walked in and the ambiance was nice. Very tiny though! We got there just on time and there were still two people ahead of us. That was kind of annoying, but what can you do? The pedicure basins were plastic with a plastic bag covering it. I wasnt a huge Fan of That..Once we got the hydration mani-pedi, it was great!!! The treatment was great, the ladies that worked on us were great! The polish selection however, was not. Mainly reds and pinks. The gel color secretion was even worse, maybe about 8 to choose from. I don't think I will be returning. It's way too expensive, and they did not give a good first impression as far as punctuality. The owner kind of rubbed me the wrong way as well.
