The only reason I ordered takeout from Impact Grille on a Wednesday was to get two Eggplant Sandwiches made by the semi-retired, fabulous, talented Angerami sisters who used to own Civitellos on Jay Street in Schenectady. For the past two years, they have been operating the Grille and serving a few signature items such as their outstanding Eggplant Sandwich on their homemade thin sliced Italian Bread. The sandwich did not disappoint and satisfied a longtime craving. Angela's Beans and Greens Soup was also memorable. I was a regular at Civitellos on Jay Street since childhood. I lived nearby and remember walking there with my mother beginning at age five. Loved the lemon Ice! Their Tomato Pie is incredible! Their dough is both crispy and chewy, the tomato sauce is great, and the thin slices of fresh garlic sprinkled on the top make it the best. The Eclairs they make are delicious and big enough to share but only if you want to... It was good to find out the delicious Eggplant Sandwiches are still being served at their new endeavor. Next time I will make the time to dine in and greet the ladies.

They were crispy, but they were a bit dry and had little flavor. The tenders were fine, but they were nothing special. On the contrary, the tater tots were very good. To illustrate, the tots were crunchy, hot, and had nice flavor. In addition, the inside of the tots were nice and fluffy. However, I suggest staying away from the trivia here because of the guy who runs it. To make clear, the guy was rude and accused my group of cheating because I was on my phone. The problem is you have to use your phone to write in the answers. After my group won, he refused to give us the prize. It was very unprofessional and the guy was just an unpleasant person. Collectively, The Courtside Grille has solid food, but watch out for the trivia guy.

Their Greek pizza is great, it has artichoke hearts, broccoli, garlic on I think, onions, Kalamata, olives, mozzarella cheese, and sliced feta cheese. I usually tell them to go late and the cheese because they do do it very heavy, but it's to die for. For an appetizer I usually get the dolmades. They are great beliefs, stuffed with lamb and rice and dill seasoning and they give you a tzatziki sauce on the side delicious.. they do have chicken, Parm dishes and chicken, marsala and other pasta and seafood dishes too. It's not all Greek and their soups are wonderful.. The service could be a little better. They need to work on that. It takes time for them to get to you, but I can't complain about the food at all. I've never had a bad dish there and all the servers I had were very personable. I think they could use some updating inside the building, but if you want some pretty decent Greek food that's the place to go and very inexpensive and large portions.

The pizza was 1/2 cheese and 1/2 Grecian special. The antipasto was huge. Not my favorite setup. It looked like they dumped a bag of salad mix on a plate and covered it with a couple of slices of cucumber, 1 tomato quartered, 20 Kalamata olives, 20 pepperoncinis, large chunks of red onions and meat pinwheels. Not the typical presentation for an antipasto but it was fresh. We were given bread and butter which was ok. About 10 minutes later the pizza came out. It looked delicious. I started with the crust and moved forward so when the waitress asked if everything was good I said yes. When I got to the middle and the top of the pizza slice i realized that the pizza was super wet. The crust was soggy. I could have wrung it out. Really bad. I waited a little while for the waitress to come to our table and when she did I told her about the pizza. The cheese half was actually fine. But the works half was awful.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

I find this place to be the pinnacle of a successful local pizzeria. The ambiance is also good. Their restaurant section however could use some cleaning on the floor and the food did take a little bit long to arrive, however with their vast menu and busy days I would like to give them another try at the sit-down experience. Would come back again and again for the slices though, for sure.

I am looking for a location that sells a good variety of slices, has sit-down tables which you actually want to sit in (no rocking tables and dirty floors for me), and has friendly staff. We recently came here again while in the area and I rediscovered it. It is definitely the best... bar none. They expanded next door into a location previously used by H&R Block, and the increased dining space is wonderful. The variety of slices they had at lunch is staggering, and not just the usual suspects either. They had eggplant lasagna pizza; chicken Fra Diavolo pizza with hot peppers (yum!); mac & cheese pizza with or without Buffalo chicken; salad pizza; etc. All looked good, and my Fra Diavolo pizza has become my favorite here. Of note: their Hawaiian pizza is a white pizza (no sauce), which is extremely unusual, but they provided a cup of sauce on the side which restored balance to the galaxy. I should point out that every Italian restaurant has their own style of red sauce: some are too acidic, some are too salty, some are too heavy with dried herbs, and some don't use enough. This place has a sauce which is similar to my Grandmas (the best!), and it is salty and acidic and oily and delicious. I could see myself parking in a chair one afternoon with a good book and slowly trying slice after slice. Since we live only about 20 minutes away, I think I will need to make the trek up to here more often.

The pina was made quickly and easily and satisfied my toddler. The chia brownie was clearly problematic in the blender. Instead they shook jiggled and forced this into my cup. I was pretty shocked they handed it over. I love the bundtlets- such a perfect size at a great price for a treat! I found out about this chain when I lived in Virginia and saw an ad for a free bundtlet on my birthday. I was so happy to find there was a location nearby when I moved back to NY. The staff at this store are really friendly and there have been samples available each time we have visited. I've gotten my mom hooked and it's our go-to place for getting dessert to celebrate birthdays/holidays. My sister even ordered my nephew's birthday desserts and had my mom pick them up. Ordering in store, online, or over the phone was easy and convenient. Pick up was also stress-free. I love that they gave different special flavors during different times of the year. The store also offers a small selection of cute gift items and party decor. I miss the marble cake that used to be a permanent flavor but my absolute favorite is the chocolate chocolate chip (choc cake with choc chips and their signature cream cheese frosting). The red velvet and confetti are probably tied for my second favs. My mom is an excellent baker so I expect a lot from a bakery cake- these taste like a homemade, flavorful, moist, not cloyingly sweet cake.
