Just wanted to share a truly positive experience I had with Belmont Hardware in Walnut Creek. I visited their store several times (too many times to count) to select new kitchen cabinet hardware for our kitchen remodel. I never had an appointment, I was always a walk-in. I was always graciously helped by Kris and never made to feel that I was there too often or being an inconvenience for not having an appt. I was able to purchase and return sample hardware pieces to see how we liked them at home on our cabinets before making a larger purchase. I never would have thought to ask to return the sample pieces but Kris offered it as an option, and it was very helpful in allowing us to bring several samples home to choose from at no cost to us. Even after placing an order for all of our hardware, we decided we didn't like the knobs we chose for a few of our cabinets. I rushed another knob order on Amazon so they could be here in time for our hardware install, and Kris still happily returned the first knobs for us, despite me not reordering them through her, and refunded my money, all very graciously and without any attitude whatsoever. I'm very impressed with her service. We love the hardware we chose. I priced out our hardware online with a handful of online retailers and to my surprise, Belmont had them all beat. Not one sale person physically approached us and introduced themselves and offered help. When we asked a woman for help she hollered at another person that she has a big order and she's too busy. Still no help. I've ordered here before years ago (repeat customer), and our new project requires over $20,000 of door and cabinet hardware. They don't get my business. Horrible service, worse follow-through. I ordered 4 handles (pre-paid) for a customer of mine and was told they would be transferred from another store within days (and I'd receive a call). After almost a month, I called for a status update - no response. I asked for multiple call-backs, none came. After several phone calls, I was told the handles needed to be reordered. I'm still waiting...completely unresponsive and not helpful. How does a company take your money and feel they owe you nothing in return? This place is awesome!! So well laid out with a plethora of door hardware, bathroom fixtures, hinges, etc. My engineer husband loved the selection. We are currently remodeling and appreciated the extra 25% off contractors discount which brought these prices down to very reasonable, especially compared to the other place we had visited (truitt and white, berkeley). There is Baldwin, emtec as well as some smaller brands like Montana Forge which is the one we actually went with. Nice customer service, very helpful and even stayed after a whole hour past closing to help us with our decisions. Informative and also honest in disclosing when they didn't know information or just didn't have experience. I respect that. Parking is easy in the lot and it's just off the freeway in Walnut Creek near the 680/ 24 junction -- not that close to downtown. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus! On the recommendation of my friend, Rich, I walked through the front door of Belmont Hardware late Friday afternoon this week before Christmas. Under my arm was a brand new Baldwin Reserve entry lock set that I had purchased at a big box hardware retailer and had shipped to my home. I had attempted to install it and though I am mechanically inclined and can do most repairs around my home, this lock set had me baffled! I was greeted with a smile by Jack and when I asked for the expert on all things lock related he directed me to Samantha. I'd come to the right place! I explained my dilemma and stated my wish to have the lock set re-keyed to my existing house key if and only if we could solve the dilemma I faced while attempting to install this new premium front door lock set! Samantha unboxed the set and looked over the components as I explained my frustration with attempting to attach the exterior handle. After looking over the parts, Samantha scratched her head and we both laughed! I didn't feel like such a fool as Samantha couldn't figure it out either! Samantha got on the phone to the Baldwin "go to guy" and he walked her through the process solving the mystery and explaining what was not explained in the printed directions (in both English and French!) that came with the lock set. Problem solved!....well, maybe! Samantha then proceeded to re-key my lock and with a smile said, "No charge!" Now that was over the top! Not only had I taken time from her to solve a problem on an item that I had purchased elsewhere but she laughed and said that we had both learned something! I insisted on paying the re-keying fee and had a wonderful conversation with not only Samantha and Jack but also Colleen who had watched the drama unfold. Bottom line: If you desire to have first class service, with compassion and a smile, you have come to the right place! My experience was more than the five stars allotted and I will spread the good news to all that Belmont Hardware is the place to go! Merry Christmas! Gratefully, Mike H. I have relied on Belmont Hardware on multiple occasions over the last several years. I needed various cabinets and doors hardware and found them to be extremely helpful each time with a large selection of choices and access to catalogs for the most respected brands. I have dealt with Tracy, showroom manager, on several occasion and appreciate her great communication skills and willingness to explain things to me, understanding I am not a door hardware expert and don't speak the lingo. I have found their prices to be very reasonable (cheaper than some internet sources) and their lead times to be quite good (usually about a week). I also like that they communicate very efficiently to let me know when my orders have arrived. Even during COVID-19, they have made the whole process stress free and safe. I live in Oakland and gladly drive out to Belmont Hardware in Walnut Creek any time I need great hardware. read more

When I finally got help from a junior employee he sullenly gave me disastrously wrong information about door hardware. (Only after I called the company in New York did I find this out.) I have an 18 year old Baldwin entry latch and deadbolt. It has been giving us trouble for a while and I have taken it apart several time...tried to clean the mechanism... applied liberal amounts of WD-40... and finally, this past Saturday, after taking it apart for the third time and looking closely at problem, I figured the fix was either replace the whole set (consider decorative hardware with existing holes spaced and drilled and then finding the perfect fit) or get a new part . Decided to try for a new part and Googled Baldwin hardware. Came up with Belmont Hardware in Walnut Creek. I was pleasantly surprised to find this great little store tucked away on Boulevard Way in Walnut Creek. Steven helped me with my questions and then issued the following information: "I will check on Monday, but I think Baldwin will send you a repair kit to address the problem...and it will most likely be at no cost to you." Really?...Well that would be great...I always liked Baldwin...thought they were a stand up, quality company. Well, the reason I am writing this review is I just got a text from Steven following up and telling me the kit is in the mail, being sent free of charge...including rush shipping...! Steven, your customer service skills are SPOT ON DUDE!! You earned the 5 stars given here... Thank you, if I had known it was going to be this easy, I would have meet you months ago... Wow! I'm shocked by these reviews, about a retail store that doesn't even bother to answer their phone! I've been trying to reach them all afternoon yesterday, on a Wednesday, when they're open. I had a limited window to travel from the other side of the tunnel into Walnut Creek to pick up the hardware I needed. My calls (made to the number listed here) continually went into voicemail. I was asked to leave a message, which I did -- several times. No one ever returned my call. Making matters worse, they've got disingenuous message about "personalized service." Hearing that over and over again, while they didn't answer the phone, made me want to gag. By the way, this review is about service. I bought a lot of hardware from Baldwin Hardware in Berkeley, and the hardware and service there was great. I'm very sorry they've closed. Given they never picked up the phone, WC Baldwin doesn't even deserve the one star listed here. read more

Denise really listens to what you are looking for and spent a lot of time with me showing me options for cabinet hardware as well as door knobs that would suit my style. Belmont Hardware had quite the selection to chose from and some very beautiful ornate hardware. I of course picked some pricey hardware and Denise worked out a discount which was nice. These guys added zero value. I ordered hardware for a new bedroom door . Week later I came back to pick up and they had no record of it being ordered . They said they would put a rush on it and reordered . A week later I called after getting a call that it would be there on Thursday. It still was not there and was told they were working to get it soon . This was a common hardware set that I could have ordered on line for $30.00 less and not been charged $12.00 for delivery to their store. I ordered this on the 12th of the month and I cancelled the order on the 28th and went back for a refund . If your looking for service above what you could do for yourself online this isn't the place . Pretty bad when they can't get the easy stuff right . read more

You will not find a better selection of cabinet hardware anywhere else in the Bay area! Don't be scared off thinking they only carry high end merchandise...no this is not Home Despot but their prices are competitive on brands similar to those carried there. If you are looking for something exciting and different for your cabs this should be your first (and last ) stop. The customer service is Outstanding! There was a little "hiccup" but they handled it gracefully and with integrity. Try finding that at the big box stores! If you have not bought handles in a while, remember metric sizing is different. Also, know the thickness of the cabinets so the right screws are included, or you will be screwed! ;-) I will be back. read more
