We recently visited Ferguson Home to order a toilet seat for a 'specialty' toilet. We had never been to the showroom and were very pleasantly surprised as the high quality inventory as well as the variety of products. The showroom displays were great and provided lots of ideas for an upcoming remodel. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were similar to Friedmans and/or other higher end home improvement retailers. The customer service here is not so great! One woman saw me walking around and she was sitting at her desk, finally asked if I needed help. She was rude and I said I'll wait for another employee to assist so she wrote in a chat thread to the other employees and called me "sassy." We were lied to so many times I lost track. We ordered an oven and a refrigerator. The oven which was supposed to be a floor model and supposedly was in perfect shape, looked like some one had taken a baseball bat to the back. Luckily, none of the damage showed or effected the function. We were told several different lies about the damage and discounts. The refrigerator took 13 months to arrive. Granted that is not their fault, but they should have known, as every other place told us it would be a year, and they claimed it would only take 6 months (then 2 more, then 3 more, then 2 more). I highly recommend Monark and the customer-focused experience I had with Jennifer. She assisted me with purchase of new Dacor 48" gas cooktop and associated Zephyr hood vent-fan. Unfortunately, I had bad experiences with two other premium appliance retailers in the East Bay. The heavy advertising one largely ignored my wife and I when we visited the store and seemed uninterested. So we went to a smaller one that ordered the wrong equipment and non-responsive service. So we contacted Dacor to request a reliable dealer with good customer service and was connected with Jennifer at Monark. We knew the Dacor model we wanted so she handled all we need via text, phone and e-mail. She gave us advice on our remodeling and selection of installer. When we decided to add the hood vent, she did a lot of research to find one that would fit our kitchen and cooktop size, and again we accomplished the order via text/e-mail. The interval was as quoted. I elected to pick up the appliances at Hayward warehouse and was drive-in, drive-out easy. The appliances have just been installed and are beautiful additions to our home, and great improvement over the ancient models they replaced. read more

TL;DR - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SHOP HERE Unbelievably poor customer service. After paying tens of thousands of dollars in deposit, our order was completely lost, the sales person had disappeared and many of our items in fact had not been ordered in the first place. Customer service was incredibly poor the whole entire way through. Rep would lose information, give incorrect information about item status, screwed up scheduling delivery and install - basically everything that you don't want from an appliance vendor. Worst communication skills from a sales dept I've ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and bring your business elsewhere. Cannot give a worse review of this place. We spent over 24k at Monark appliances. They explained that we need to use their installers for us to have it under warranty. We paid for their installer. They made us wait over 4 weeks to install. The pre installers basically said they won't install because some of the appliances because everything has to be done at once. You spend this amount of money you expect some customer service. I'm better off ordering online and finding my own installer. Very disappointed. read more

The worst customer service ever!!! They delivered a new refrigerator about a month ago. I noticed it was making a lot of noise. It would also kick on and off a lot. I had them come back out last week to check it out. The guy that came out said they needed to replace it. They brought another one out yesterday 08/20/2019. As soon as the delivery guys left I noticed it was making a bunch of crackling noises. I called their office right away. (I could still see the delivery truck a couple homes away) The lady that answered said she would ask her supervisor what to do. I explained she should call the delivery guys and have them turn around and bring the other fridge back because at least that one was keeping things cold and frozen. When she called me back she said the supervisor said it will take 24 hours to get cold. I told her that may be correct but it would have to turn on to get cold. I told her I had a freezer full of meats and fridge full of food that is going to go bad. I told her to have her supervisor call me immediately. She then hug up on me and no one called me back. This morning I checked the meat in the freezer is soft and my milk in the fridge is warm. So I called them back again and explained to the lady that they are going to owe me for my food that is going bad. She said they wont owe me anything and said that she would have her supervisor call me back again. That was two hours ago and still no call back. People there are plenty other appliance companies out there. So what ever you do or who ever you choose to go with. DO NOT go to this company. Looks like I'll be taking them to small claims court. read more

We were referred to Danielle Dupouy at Monark Appliance by our contractor. We did a sizable kitchen remodel. We are purchasing most of our Kitchen appliances from Danielle at Monark. We are doing this because of the value and positive experience we have had working with Danielle. I give Danielle my highest recommendation. She was responsive, professional and a pleasure to work with. She got back to me quickly with both phone calls and emails. She was flexible and accommodating, setting up in person meeting times with my husband and me who both work. She helped us sort through some tricky decisions regarding our stove top hood. She revised our proposal several times, as we refined our design plans. She was a good steward of our money, steering us toward quality and avoiding needless expenditures. She displayed professional integrity, buy directing us toward one purchase at another store, as she knew that was the best value. I will recommend Danielle to friends and family. She provided common sense design advice when I asked for it. She works for Monark, and wants to support the products that Monark provides. That seems like good business practice. I am puzzled by the negative reviews, posted about Danielle. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my experience. Professionalism, Value, Respect. I am not sure what else is required. This is my second Kitchen remodel, and if I have another one, I will hope Danielle is still working. I will seek her out in the future. read more

My husband and I were looking into remodeling our kitchen and were referred to Danielle at Monark Appliances by our designer. I had called Danielle twice to schedule our appointment and after not receiving a response back, we decided to just drop in to their showroom. Lo and behold Danielle just so happened to be there and I introduced myself. She apologized for not returning our call and just said how busy she was. Ok, apology accepted. We let her know that we were looking for a gas range and hood. She was so informational on the different types and explained why. We were pretty much sold on a few of the options they had in the showroom and also asked for a few others that we had seen elsewhere. She mentioned that she could get pricing on those too and would send them over either that day or the following Tuesday. So Tuesday goes by and I decide to follow up on Wednesday...I leave a voicemail. Friday comes around...I leave another voicemail. Sunday comes up...they're closed and I decide...if she really wanted the business, she would respond. Apparently not. I find this situation so ironic since we were in the market for Samsung appliances (which they do not carry in their showroom) and Danielle was telling us how poor their customer service was. I told my designer thanks for the recommendation, but your lady sucks at follow up. True story. If you want to get a good lesson on appliances, go see Danielle, but once you are ready to buy go elsewhere. read more

Where do I begin: the ordering process was great. I was provided selections, listened to, and the order was easy. Of course GETTING my business was crafted with care. However, actually following through to get my product was terrible. 1. The specs we were supplied were incorrect, so the appliance panels for our fridge and dishwasher that we spent over $1000 on were incorrect and had to be re-ordered (at our expense, of course) 2. We tried MANY times to get the rep at Monark to get back to us to figure out what was wrong, but they never returned our calls 3. We paid $1000 on installation for our fridge, DW, range and W/D and when they were unable to get things correctly installed they said could come back to finish, but would charge us again if they had to make another visit. Frankly, it's not my problem if you have to make another visit, I paid you to install my appliances and you didn't actually finish the job, so I shouldn't be charged for another visit just because it was a little harder for you than normal and you didn't get to make as much profit as you wanted it. Instead my husband finished their crappy job 4. We were charged for installation on our initial purchase of our appliance package. Once they "finished" the installed they called me to charge $1k again. I told them that they already charged me, and they said, "whoops!" Glad I looked through my statement to make sure of that, because they certainly weren't paying attention 5. Our washer was dented on the top when we got it. We told them and they said they would install it and then come right back out in a few days to replace the top panel that was dented. Sure thing, that sounds easy. No one ever did. For weeks. I called, followed up several times and they kept saying over and over they would get to it. Despite WEEKS of no one doing anything I finally threatened to call my CC company and dispute all charges if they didn't come fix it. Then they asked for pictures (of which I provided weeks ago). Then they said they needed them from all sides - well genius, you already installed it. Finally they relented and just ordered us a new model. Only now it still hasn't been delivered. It has been TWO MONTHS and we still have our dented washer. Honestly, I have no idea why I just didn't go to Home Depot. They're just as inept, but a LOT LESS EXPENSIVE. read more

They are now 2 weeks late with Kitchen appliances- no apologies- no follow up. Finally delivered a beat up , bent range this morning- we refused it These are horrible people who really do not care about the customer! Never do business with Monark. Monark had the lowest quote for the appliance I wanted so I placed an order with Danielle. She was quite pleasant and professional. After several weeks, I emailed her for an update on delivery. After a couple days, she replied with an expected warehouse arrival date. She explained that once the item arrived at the warehouse (Wednesdays only BTW), they'd contact me to schedule a delivery date. One week after the expected arrival date, I again emailed her for an update. After two days and no reply, I called her direct number and left a voicemail. A couple hours later, I called their main number and was connected. She had no information other than I would receive word once it arrived in the warehouse. She didn't offer to check. Another week passed and I called in the morning for an update. She told me that she would check and get back to me asap. As the business day was drawing near, I called her back for an update. Now, the story changed. The item might be in on Friday (what happened to Wednesdays only?). When I told her I was dissatisfied with the delay and poor communication, she told me that I could cancel the order and "go to the end of the line". I told her to cancel the order. She replied, "Okay" and hung up. I emailed a formal cancellation which she confirmed and processed. When placing my order with another local dealer, I learned that Monark had failed to fulfill orders for other customers who then went to this other dealer. Further, I discovered that Monark is owned by Sears which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2018. I'm not sure if Sears' financial trouble is related to my issues with Monark, but I regret trying to do business with them and waiting a month only to have my order not completed. Fortunately, I was not on a strict timeline. Given Sears' bankruptcy and my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

HOWEVER, after escalating our concerns to the General Manager, our experience improved dramatically. His service recovery was phenomenal. Beautiful showroom and courteous showroom staff . It nay be geared for architects, designers and contractors who know their stuff and are frequent buyers. A home owner upgrading for their own pleasure shld do lit of reading on the features of each brand and they need to have exact measurements of the location of eac appliance incl the location of gas line,water line and type of electical line . For ex: i ordered a counter depth refrig. with a water dispenser in the door. I didnot know about the water filter behind the frig that caused the frig to protrude 10 inches into the kitchen. i hired a carpenter to install the filter in an unused cabinet over the frig. The Fp people were helpful but we had to go and buy new tubing and connectors. I think Monark shld have helped us through this at point of purchase. We installed the rangetop so that went well. The two oven took several weeks to get delivered. The installation is NOT COMPLETE ! Six weeks have gone by without a delivery. I have called a couple of times and finally told them to mail it and i would take care of the installation. AIG said they couldn 't mail it but would drop it off when they came out this way. Its aug 18 and they haven't come out this way. My rec: Home Depot has upgraded its products and the salespeople know their stuff. They install in within a couple of days, take old appliances without grousing and don't charge for stairs. (i have 10 wide steps that lead diectly to french door in the kitchen and i paid handsomely. Being a first time home owner, I didn't know necessarily how to get the process started for looking into a new washer and dryer. I was referred to Monark home appliance by my dad who does a lot of remodel work through them, and decided to give them a call. I started by describing my budget and the space I had to work with for my laundry room, and Danielle did her research and promptly got back to me with some wonderful options. Not only was the selection part of the process easy, but my wife and I were amazed with Danielle's knowledge of what would work for us, not to mention her friendly and approachable attitude. I was referred to Monark after a family member had spent almost $15,000 with them. My wife and myself went in there and sat down with Danielle because we are building a home in Walnut Creek. Danielle sat with us asking us a few questions about what we were looking for etc. We gave her plans to our kitchen and she said she would design something and get back to us within a few days. After 1 month (30 days), I emailed Danielle and told her to please not to waste her time doing anything for us since after not hearing from her in a month we started working with someone else. She sent me back a snippy/sarcastic email saying "Thank you for the nice note and how we came by 1/2 an hour before they closed looking to build an entire kitchen package." This email made me feel uncomfortable especially since I specifically asked her when we got there "I know you are closing soon is now a good time to meet or would you like me to make an appointment and come back another time?" She declined and told me to come in. In the weeks after not hearing from her we started looking at other appliance retailers in the area and finally ended up at Airport Appliance in Concord. They were AWESOME to deal with and went WAY above what I expected. Do your homework-Monark is over priced and has horrible customer service. We will never step foot in there again. Came by today from Berkeley to look at under counter fridges. The greeter was pleasant and helpfull but the sales person we talked to later (female) was not. When she asked what we were looking for, I explained we were looking for a certain brand that was not the wine coolers they have on display. Her response was to tell us that there was no way they could stock all 50 types of the brands fridges. I said that obviously I understood and then she justed huffed, gave up on any sale and just walked away as though we had offended her. It was very rude and not at all called for. Go somewhere else if you want to be treated politely and respectfully. Its a shame because we were ready to buy two fridges and a freezer today. read more
