This review is based off of only 2 sushi rolls--I had the cucumber-avocado roll and the inari. These are my go-to rolls that I get all the time elsewhere. But the rice on my rolls seemed unseasoned--no hint of vinegar or even salt for that matter. This made both SO Bland! I thought maybe this was an error but then the pickled ginger actually tasted rancid or something so that was just disturbing. I asked my friend how his eel roll was and he said "oddly bland" and his had sauce on it! What gives Belmont Kitchen!? The guy in the truck was very nice, but I would not get sushi here again and honestly might not come back at all to try anything else! I was walking around downtown and stopped by the Belmont Station Food Truck Park for lunch. Apparently food trucks are a hit thing to do when you visited Portland. Belmont Kitchen is a small Asian Fusion / Japanese food truck. It serves sushi, noodles soup, dumplings, mega sushi burritos, and Bubble Teas. It's solid 5 stars for the value, 4 stars for the creativity, 3-4 stars for the food/taste. The menu price includes tax. All dishes are served with really bowls & plates which feel like an upgrade from a food truck park. The food is above average and all freshly made, so it might take longer than other food trucks. Sushi ~ I ordered the spicy tuna rolls and tempura shrimp rolls and they are only $5 each for 6 large pieces. You definitely get a good value for your bucks. The rolls are a bit lose, so you need to be very careful when you eat it. It taste better than the one from whole food, but it's not quite a Japanese restaurant quality. Noodles ~ I also got the DanDan Mian for $10. The bowl was huge with lots of noodles and fresh Napa cabbage. The ground pork is a bit on the sweeter side. It will be more authentic if it used shiitake mushrooms with less sugar instead of served with white button mushrooms. The ramen is also on a softer side and soft boiled egg is a little over cooked. Overall, this food truck is very good value for what you are getting. The outdoor dining area has plenty of seating. It's a good alternative and quick lunch option for sure. read more

Very good choices! Good food but I would look elsewhere if you're craving poke! I noticed they had it new on the menu and thought "why not". To my surprise it was very plain and uninspired. I'd seek farther if you're craving a yummy poke bowl. They do everything else great tho! read more

As a family we've been trying all the popular sushi burritos around town. I stumbled on this one a few weeks ago while taking the kids to the Belmont pod for lunch, as we passed the final days before school started. I hadn't been aware of Belmont Kitchen nestled in the way back next to the beer truck. What a find. The BEST SUSHI BURRITO IN TOWN. Hands down! Fish was fresh (thanks to a busy location) sauce could have been a little spicier, but flavor was good. It was hard to not stuff myslwf with the second half, and save till later. I'll be back again and again. This food pod where Belmont Kitchen is located in always delivers on great food at good prices. It's a shame they lost so much seating moving across the street a few years ago. We've been going here as a family for 9 years now. Everyone gets something they want. There's Mac and Cheese, Viking soulfood, awesome Mexican, delicious Thai, a BEER TRUCK with several fresh taps and ciders, a breakfast and coffee shop and then Belmont Kitchen in the back, which doesn't suggest Japanese, but they don't need to make any apologies for their fantastic food. read more

This food truck was 2 blocks from my Airbnb. The food was really good, had fresh ingredients (made on the spot, so will take a little longer when it gets busy) and I feel a good price for the amount of food you get. I tried the tempura rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and seaweed salad. I went twice in one day out of convenience and got different items each time. The lady (owner?) was very nice, recognized me and was appreciative. She let me know there would be a wait for my food when it was a busy time. I've had many sushi burrito trucks but this one definitely got it right. I would say the price is a little high but the quality and food it's pretty worth it. I ordered the mega #1 sushi burrito. It comes with both salmon and tuna in it, the ingredients tasted pretty fresh. The vegetables inside had a nice crunch to it as well along with a super friendly staff that helped me. Belmont Kitchen has been consistently good for the past few years. Then tonight (4/5/22) I ordered our usual Miso Ramen (one with tofu and one with pork) and after one bite I threw it in the garbage. It was so crazy hot and way too spicy. It burned my mouth for several minutes. Why? Its been perfect every time up until tonight.
