I have been reading about this place in the paper for a long time and finally got to try it. I noticed they have some unique and hard to find dishes on the menu. I tried the pork spring rolls and a bowl of pho. The spring rolls were a nice change from the usual shrimp and pork rolls you find other places. It came with a lot of lettuce, herbs, and pork/noodle mix and served with a nuoc cham sauce. The rolls were very fresh and didn't feel like they were made ahead like some places do. The pho was good coming with the usually fixin's. The broth was nice and flavorful. Service was good and prices were average. Definitely want to go back and try the specialty dishes. read more

My son was craving noodles and soup so we gave this a try. The strip mall location gave us pause but we are glad we didn't turn back. Fast service and fresh food. This has replaced our previous favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Big fans of the Phô and the pancake but make sure you use the lettuce and the sauce. Simple, unassuming Vietnamese restaurant with tasty food. Pho was rich with lots of bean sprouts and Asian basil. Bun was good with perfect noodles and toppings. Nuoc mam (fish sauce) was authentic although a little strong for most western tastes. Thai iced tea was tasty. Service was efficient. read more

We were in the mood for Pho today and driving around Seminole, so I did my Yelp search and this place had great reviews. We got two chicken pho's to go and some fried spring rolls. Everything was excellent. I've had a broth before at another place that had a weird oder, but still tasted good once you got past that. This however, had no weird oder and was tasty. I love Ben Thanh! It's my first love from back when they were at the K-mart shopping center on 34 Street. They have the most amazing Beef fondue......... O M G!!! Awful experience been there a lot but one time this bad I'll never go back!! Asked for simple veggies and garlic they told me they don't stir fry they are getting away from it?? Who says that at an Asian restaurant?? Gave me cold veggies with hot garlic on top of it?? Confused why they didn't get mixed together? Husbands food was awful looked like a dog bowl put together. Great place. We've had pho at places all over Tampa Bay and Ben Thanh's pho is awfully good. Great flavor for the broth, and they slice their beef extra thin which was a surprisingly pleasant touch. Decent restaurant, odd location. Food was ok. My boyfriends dad got chicken wings that had a sauce that tasted like it should be marinated on fish. The pork dish over broken rice was delicious. The vegetables they placed on the table were browning and not fresh. One of the servers gave us 5 minutes to look at the menu and then asked if we were ready yet? So we asked for water. Then after we ordered another man set down 2 small bowls of sauce in the middle of the table, then the unfresh veggies. Then another man brought out the main dishes and then put the sauces and veggies with the correct orders and when my bf mom asked if it was her sauce the man said "well I put it right in front of you." read more

I have tried many Pho restaurants in both California and Florida and I have to admit this is one of the top on my list. Not only is it affordable, but it is also very tasty. My boyfriend and i are obsessed with this place we would eat here 7 days a week if we could. we are here at least 1 or 2 times a week. The Staff is always friendly, the lady that works there knows what we order , we don't have to tell her anything and she brings our food out to us just the way we always get it.. yes the food takes a few min to make but its worth the wait because you know its being made to order and its always fresh . we always get #50 spicy beef with lemongrass soup it is to die for i dream about this soup when im not there eating it .. i will say this is it for me i don't need to try any other place ever again. read more

So my boyfriend and I absolutely love Pho and we decided to check this place out. We read some really great reviews and was hoping that the Pho was going to knock our socks off- well it did not. First off, the portion was not large enough. I mean it was literally half of what you would receive at some of the other places we have gone. My boyfriend is a big guy, so to him it was like having a child's portion. The broth was not as flavorful as I was expecting. The main flavor was salty. The broth is my favorite part of Pho and this broth was not on point. Also - the very last thing you want, is to eat Pho at a place that does not have air conditioning. It was hot, we were sweating so much I stopped eating and was ready to go. We left and went to Publix to get something to eat. They really need to get that air fixed. read more

One of the better bowls of Pho in the Tampa Bay area, hands down. I've been on a never ending quest to find the best bowl, and it all leads here. I simply cannot give a place 3 or more stars based on just the food. It has to be presented within a timely fashion, the place has to be clean, and the service has to be attentive. In this case, our appetizers (party of 8) came out 1 hour 20 minutes after we sat down. We had drinks, and those were served with a touch of attitude. Never were offered another drink or routinely waited on in the entire 2 hours we were there. There were only about 4 other tables of 2 occupying the restaurant. Several people seemed to know each other. The bathrooms need to be freshened up. Really, I expect spotless and scrubbed. If you like less than that, you might not be bothered. So was the food good? Yes. I had the fish soup, which had nice flavors and was something different than I typically see. I also had an omlette with bean sprouts that you wrap in lettuce leaves and dip into sweetened fish sauce. That was also different, and I liked the flavors. Will I go back? I doubt it. There are other Vietnamese restaurants much closer to me that don't have the extremely long wait time, the attitude, and the lack of service. I'll check back here periodically to see if Ben Thanh has hired a few kids to keep the water glasses filled and show up at the tables in case the waiter needs to be summoned. Until then, I'll either order it to go (unlikely) or just go elsewhere. read more

Food poison! My family ate at this place the other day. The reviews were great so I overlooked the hole in the wall appearance. Seriously this place had cardboard insulation in the main dining area. They were short of staff. It's a typical mom and pop shop. One guy running the front and an old lady cooking in the back. The food was good, but as soon as we came home we started getting food poison symptoms (not very pretty to describe). Now let me say that I've eaten at some sketchy places all over the world. I've also eaten food that's been in the fridge longer than a week so my stomach can handle some pretty bad stuff. What I ate must have been unprepared correctly or sitting out for a while. I hate to give a bad review but there are some health issues at this place. read more

I came in here today after a bad experience @ a nearby viet restaurant and the visit turned my whole day around. Probably the best place for pho in the st petersburg area! We had some gio cuon and pho bo vien for my wife and regular pho tai sach for me. The portion was perfect for my wife and for me it was alright, but for 2 bucks extra they'll add extra noodles which isn't bad considering a bowl is only 5.50. The waiter was really cool, the gio cuon was really amazing and my wife loved it even though she doesn't eat vegetables unless it was cooked. I would definitely recommend anyone going here for pho! If you want bang for yourand good pho but don't mind waiting 15 minutes at the most for everything to come out, this is the place. I read the other reviews and that person probably over exaggerated on how long they waited. Me and my wife was traveling from nc, sc, ga, fl, mi, la, tx, and az and compared to all the pho places that we went to. They had the best pho. So that's saying a lot. read more

An amazing restaurant that you would never expect with wonderful flavors. I personally enjoy the seafood broth for the pho as its incredible. I never drink pho broth unless I'm here. The meat is a little on the low side but it keeps the pho prices low at 7-7.50 a bowl which I find as a good deal. Service is wonderful and the owner couldn't be a nicer guy.
