We love Ben Thanh and the owners. We went there at least once a week for years. Everything on their menu is fabulous. Their Pho is amazing and my favorite is their crepe (banh xeo). It looks like egg but it is not. It is so yummy that I often crave it! They are closed in Monday's so you will inevitably want to go on those days! We had sausage fresh roll. It was decent testing. The large pho was this big bowl of noodle with fresh herb and other beef goody. The broth was just right - not too greasy, not too bland. We ordered a seafood clay pot- shrimp, squid, fish , fried tofu and imitation crab meat in a sweetish sauce. It got good enough flavor and went nicely with white rice. The chicken wing entrée came with rice, small salad and fried wings in a sweet chili sauce. It was delicious. Food-wise, this is probably the best Viet eats in Pinellas Park. The food here is always good. Always fresh. Consistent. The prices are reasonable and generally cost about the same as any other place in PP. BUT.. and I've seen this gripe before... Ben Thanh is not going to get you in and out the door quickly, if you happen to be impatient or pressed for time because ol' boss man is docking your pay for taking a 1.5 hour lunch. That being said, you can help this situation by knowing what you want when you sit down and asking for a check when the food gets delivered. But that's on You. BT is simply one of those places where you're free to converse with your company with little interruption, about Viet cuisine, life, or whatever you talk about. Go stand at the cash register if you need to leave. If that's too much of an issue, then maybe you should just go to another place for lunch. read more

I used to love this place. It used to be one of the better places to get great savory broth. On my recent visit, the quantity and quality has been going down hill. I ordered the banh canh and my friend ordered the pho dac biet. I used to not be able to finish all of my food, but it seems as though they cut their size in half. Finally some good Pho in this city!!!! This place is the first Vietnamese restaurant that had a unique menu AND good pho to boot. The place is really small, and only had 1 server, who also ran the register. Exactly how I like it. He was quick, friendly, and clearly knew what he was doing. The pho was the best I've had yet at any of the Greater Tampa area Vietnamese spots. It had a great balance of spices in the broth, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and most importantly the brisket was very thinly shaven and ACTUALLY FLAVORFUL FOR ONCE!!!! All the appropriate condiments were even there. I also tried the Chili, Vegetable, and Sausage Spring Roll (name might be wrong) but it was good. Not the best roll I've had, but definitely good and I liked the sausage inside, a bit unusual compared to most other Vietnamese spots. I'll definitely return here, especially to try some of the Chef Specials that looked sooooooo good. Also, for 2 rolls, pho, and Lime Iced tea I only had a $10.17 bill. Can't beat that. read more

Great Vietnamese food at very reasonable prices. This place hides in a nondescript strip mall but don't let that fool you. Authentic, varied menu with many surprises. Try the LAU Satay for two $20, you won't be disappointed. Their beef stew is the best in the area, and the pho can't be beat. I use to frequent Ben Thanh before they closed down. With the new location, I wasn't too sure on wanting to go there. My friends told me that things have changed and food is good. The pho is good here but I think that they took their time to make sure that I like it because I told them that I just flew in from California and Texas, so I hope that they are good. After seeing such high ratings, I expected this place to be better than Pho Quyen and to me, it wasn't. Service was EXTREMELY ssllllooowwwww, which is very odd for a Vietnamese place. Vietnamese and Chinese food usually come out in 10 minutes from the time you order. Not this place; It took the guy 10 minutes to bring our drinks, another 15 to bring our appetizer, and 30 minutes to bring our entrees. It was pretty ridiculous. I came with my friends and their small children, so you can imagine the ruckus our table was causing. I was trying to be understanding since there was only one server. I think he was new because when my friend tried to ask him if a dish tasted good he replied, "I don't know. You'll have to tell me," in a very snooty, why are you asking me a dumb question tone and facial expression. Are you kidding me?!?! You're the one that works here! You should know or put you're freakin attitude away. Aside from 1.5 to 2 star service (he at least brought us our dishes, small plates for the kids, and more limes for my bun bo hue), the food was ok. I've definitely had better. -Their goi cuon had small shrimps in it. Boo. -Their bun bo hue at least had the proper fresh veggies to accompany and the different cuts of meat, even pork blood, but it lacked the intense flavor its supposed to have and most importantly, they used the wrong noodles. They used the vermicelli that is used in goi cuon or the bun, noodle salads. Bun bo hue noodles are supposed to be a little fatter. -My friend's pork chop was flavored nicely but was overcooked and dry. Despite this mediocre experience, my friends enjoyed their meal. I also still haven't tried their pho and they could have had an off night. So, I would come back to try it again, just not any time soon. read more

This is a good place for a late lunch or early evening snack. At 3pm their just getting into the swing of things. I came looking for a good hot bowl of pho with brisket. Their version has more flank than brisket but its still pretty good. I've had better broth but this will satisfy. Two menu items really knocked me over. First, the Bo Bia are a spring roll made with basil and Chinese sausage. These are a must have starter. Second, on the specials menu, they offer a dish of braised pork belly and whole hard boiled eggs served with white rice. Put that dish on your bucket list. It is amazing. Service is a bit relaxed. I believe this is a 2-3 person operation. Staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is casual. They have a TV running a constant reel of Travel/Food porn. They play a mix of Vietnamese pop and techno music. You won't be disappointed. read more

It wasn't bad but I was expecting some really good home cooked pho. Better than pho quyen (Hillsborough)? Not a chance. It's super tiny, when I say tiny I mean it! Don't let the outside deceive you. They have at most maybe 6 tables or so. The service was extremely slow and it seems like everything was just thrown down at the table. Not to sound harsh, but I probably would never come back to eat here again.
