Decent Indian food - goat curry was pretty spicy and have to be careful of small bones. Chicken tikka masala was delicious but also spicier than my usual Indian place. I liked that you could buy extra tikka masala sauce on the side. The garlic naan was perfect. Ordered via seamless. read more

Order delivery for the most part. Food is typically very good. A bit pricey and a $5 delivery charge, which knocked my fourth star down to three. Absolutely superb. Everything about this restaurant is so satisfying - the service, the perfectly cooked dishes and the lovely interior. We didn't realize this location is one of 3, with the two others on 42nd st and the other on Duane St. We ordered the butter chicken, malai kofta, chicken curry, chicken tikka and aloo chat. Top top top notch quality Indian Food. We had two different prawn entrees. Each very different and full of taste. We had other traditional dishes, also, delicious. The desserts were different and worth a try. Orange Kulfi was frozen ice cream in an orange and sliced. Unique and delicious. The food was a 5, but the revIew was a 4 as they need more wait staff. The owners who waited on us were extremely professional, friendly and helpful. However, although we were not rushing their timing needs work. This place was our go to for years. Unfortunately, so much has changed. The chicken in the biryani was so dry and hard. The dal besides not being tasty had so much red food dye The fried fish also was loaded with food dye that along with the thick outer crust the fish inside was also bright red. The shrimp curry lacked in flavor the coconut milk overpowering the other spices. Service was good as usual but too bad they must've changed the kitchen staff. Nice ambience and friendly staff and host. It's good to see an Indian restaurant open in Wyckoff. Unfortunately, I found the food just ok. The potato chaat dish was cold, which was unexpected. It was pretty good but I wouldn't order that again. The chicken tikka masala was good but I found the dish on the salty side, but my friend didn't think so. Everyone's salt tolerance is different. The saltiness became off putting for meafter awhile. The naan was okay but just I've had better It didn't taste and feel like freshly made right before it was served. I've had better Indian food elsewhere; however, an Indian restaurant is a welcome addition to Wyckoff and I'd go back to try other dishes. read more

We were long time customers of this restaurant and will never patronize this business again. I was very offended by them trying to sneak additions on the bill thinking we wouldn't notice. We were overcharged for an entree that we didn't order ($19) but didn't realize it until after we paid the bill. The waiter admitted his "mistake" but the manger said no refunds. We said, it's not a refund, it's theft and it's not the money. It's the principle that you'd think you could steal from us! He then offered to make us the dish to take home. I said is this a joke? Am I on Boiling Points? What is wrong with you, at this point I am getting heated. The manager says they faced adverse business cash flow due to COVID which I do empathize with but come on, you cannot rob people. Top Indian cuisine on the other side of the Hudson. Their New York location is phenomenal, so we decided to give this NJ location a shot. The food, ambiance, and service were all 5/5. It's tough finding good food and service during these times; however, management has done a great job at making sure the quality of their food and client experience remains unchanged. If you're here, please - just order a ton of lamb chops. They have mastered a recipe that no other restaurant has topped. It arrive with loads of chili peppers.when I called was told I might have received the non vegan dish that comes with hot pepper by mistake, I was told next time no charge. I've been hearing about this restaurant for awhile now, so I decided to do take out. Online ordering is very easy, and they're even offering 20% off your order when you create an account. (It's valid on subsequent orders). The restaurant called me when my order was ready for pickup. I ordered chicken tandoori, aloo dum, chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. Benares is located in a shopping center, and there is plenty of parking. I pulled up, and there was an employee to greet me right away and bring my order out. When I got home, the food was still warm. Everything was straight up delicious! The chicken vindaloo had a nice amount of spice and color. The aloo dum was a little too sweet for my liking, but I loved that they used whole baby potatoes, as opposed to cutting up regular sized potatoes. The garlic naan was yummy, and the chicken tandoori was flavorful and had a charred taste. A large portion of jeera rice was included. My only gripes would be the naan being a little difficult to chew, and the tandoori chicken was sitting in a pool of juices, which I hate. I prefer my tandoori chicken to be a bit on the drier side. Other than that, the flavors were phenomenal!! Prices are high, but Indian food is always expensive. This was 20000% worth every penny! Went here for the first time and it was soooo good. We had the chicken vindaloo and tikka masala. Chicken was so tender and the sauces were just the right consistency. Vindaloo was sooo spicy and very good. Vindaloo is insanely spicy and not for most people but it's my favorite. We also got the eggplant chaat and it was pretty much fried eggplant chips and they were 10/10 so damn good. I find this to be a convenient and good neighborhood spot. They are byob although we chose not to bring any drinks with us. We started with the aloo papdi chaat and the pani puri shots. One of our puris ended up having a hole in it but the pani had good flavor. The papdi chaat was also well seasoned and the papdi was still crunchy when it was served. We also ordered the achchari chicken kebabs which were delicious. The chicken was very tender and well seasoned. For dinner, we ordered the palak paneer and the chicken vindaloo with garlic naan and rice. The palak paneer was spicier than anticipated which I enjoyed. Usually I order chicken tikka masala but the waiter recommended the vindaloo as it is more unique and we ended up really enjoying it. I think vindaloo curry can sometimes be a little too tart but this dish was well balanced with just enough heat and tartness for my personal taste. I appreciated that our waiter gave us helpful suggestions throughout our meal. We had tried this spot previously several months ago and had a similar experience last time so I think it is dependable. Our meal ended with the atom bomb which is a chocolate lava cake with rose ice cream. They gave us three generous scoops of the ice cream and the rose flavor went very well with the dense chocolate cake. The cake also came out warm which was nice. read more

This restaurant is a blessing. Not only it is a neighborhood restaurant that is close to our home, but it is also a pleasant place to eat. The food is delicious, and the service excellent. We were served right away. I am sensitive to spicy foods, and the waiter made sure my dishes are only "baby spicy". They have a desert that is made at the premise (Rasmalai) and it is delicious. This place is so good! Just as good as their NY location. I was confused at first when I saw their name pop up on seamless because I didn't know they had one in NJ. The quality of the food is great. If you order Shrimp Biryani expect real shrimp not the mini frozen ones other places try to get away with. Besides the flavors, I really appreciate the quality of the meats and seafood they use. If you want something spicy, add it in your notes.. I've ordered shrimp biryani, lamb vindaloo, tiki masala, butter chicken, and different naans. Masala over butter chicken imo. One time they forgot got my side of rice & the owner called when he realized this, apologized, & offered to make it up. Stark contrast from another place that sent me a wrong dish & purposely didn't add in 2 of my dishes & didn't say anything until I called them & they told me to drive and return the mistaken dish back lol I didn't even have a car. This place is a winner! Lovely ambiance and pretty delicious food as well! Each one of their vegetarian entrees has a distinct and unique flavor. We ordered a medium spicy level which was sufficient for someone who enjoys a little spice but not too overwhelming. We had the Malai Kofta, Paneer Masala, Diwani Handi, Baigan Mirchi Ka Sagan and Aloo Gobi. The Baigan Mirchi Ka Sagan and Diwani Handi were something different than my usual order. The Eggplant dish was rather sweet since it was made w/ a coconut curry but cool since this is not something you'll always see at a indian restaurant. Same with the Diwani Handi - also not as common but was an fresh mix of sauteed veggies with indian spices (no gravy). The Paneer Masala and Malai Kofta were good- both had different distinct gravy and flavor. The Rosemary Naan and Laccha parantha were also well made w/ a tandoor. They had some other great appetizer options like Kohlapur Misal and fresh kachoris which I have yet to try. From my understanding this used be Saffron, never visited before so not sure how mgmt or the chef changed but I really enjoyed my dinner here and would totally recommend it to anyone in the area! This place is BYOB and has ample parking. The service was equally excellent (really appreciated them adjusting the temp for my grandparents who feel cold easily). My wife does not like spicy food and was skeptical of wether there would be much to choose from, but most of the dishes were not spicy and she enjoyed everything.
