This is sport bar type place. So expect TVs, Pub Fare, and a nice lively atmosphere. We went for lunch on a nice day and the windows by our table were open which I found to be lovely. Nice outside air but they did have screens so no bugs entering that way, good thinking! I had a draft beer, which one expects from a sports bar. They have a nice selection with several local options. Also ordered the fish and chips and subbed sweet potato fries for the regular fries. Fish was slightly well done but didn't affect the flavor and let me say, I finished every bite! I was a bit hesitant to stop by here based on some reviews HOWEVER glad we did! It was a busy afternoon but still some tables! Staff was great and checked in periodically throughout our visit - great customer service! Drinks were good! Had their Maple Old Fashioned (holiday menu) and it was great! We had their club sandwich and fries. Generous serving (shared it) and it was really good! Also had their Southwest Chicken Eggrolls and good sized serving. I had the Philly steak wrap with the house made Mac & Cheese. Both were tasty. However, I would highly recommend a different side for it. I also had the cheese cake with strawberry sauce. This actually came out better than I thought! The atmosphere of the pub was about the same as any sports bar. TV's on the sports channel, what sounded like hip hop music in the background, and people talking sports. As far as service goes, it felt as if they didn't have enough servers for large crowds. You'll get your standard pub food here. There was nothing on the menu that I, or anyone in our party had that jumped off the page. Maybe, and I say maybe, the Brussel sprouts did a bit of a jig. They were pretty tasty. Though they were kissed with a bit too much oil. Your stomach will get a good coating of grease, oil, and saturated fat from the various offerings, so move forward with the drinking. Your insides will be buffered from the harsh effects of all that alcohol. I can't say that it'll protect your liver, but it may slow down the cirrhosis some. I started out this review, giving Benchmark 3 stars, but while writing, I bumped it up to 4. The food is ok. It's really not a bad place to eat and drink. As long as you drink more than you eat. It should be a 70/30 proposition. The 30 propping you up so that you can make your way home. Our order got screwed up. Two of our party asked for burgers with no bun. When the orders arrived, ALL the burgers had no buns! LoL!! The other two had to go Twiggy style.... bunless. I know, I know, what's this with the Twiggy reference, and why is it in a Yelp review. Who or what is Twiggy? End of lesson. Schools out. Do your homework. Quick Tip: Great location for a neighborhood stroll home. If you live any farther than Berry Farms, get an Uber. The place is clean, attractive, nice long bar and comfortable seating, both in and outside. Lots of TVs for sports. While the draft selection isn't huge, it's very well thought out, kudos for having draft selections from Gerst to Mich Ultra to Diskin Cider. Everyone on staff was friendly, prompt, professional; really nice teamwork making for a great atmosphere. Burger was clearly fresh ground. Ordered medium, and it came out fast and cooked perfectly medium. Huge mound of fries; fresh, hot, skin on, nicely seasoned. seated near the kitchen, saw lots of attractive looking plates coming out fast. Holy molly those nachos were no joke guys! Always go with restaurant recommendations! This nacho platter I ordered for dinner last night was massive. I added shredded pork to it and it was good. Sorry god I know I should not eat the pig. The pig was calling my name and saying order me after seeing all those google and yelp review pictures. My husband got the recommended Philly Wrap and boy was it good. This bar or the waiter/bartender with the fight club shirt made the best recommendations. A previous visit found a dozen or so folk at the bar and the barkeep was pleasant and engaging. My latest visit found the place twice as busy and the barkeep still pleasant, but working her buns off to keep up. It's nice to see business booming. If you enjoy nachos, Benchmark may have set a new benchmark. I recommend the pork with barbecue sauce and bacon. They're the best I've had in a long time and I'd return for the nachos, alone. I'll return for the bushwhackers, too (or two? I can't remember. No. Two would find me well and truly bushwhacked.) One order of nachos can easily feed two or four adults. But...if you're experiencing a growth spurt just feel free to go it alone. They're good enough to keep all to yourself...but, no. You can't do it alone. Buds or babes are recommended to help save you from the poor judgment of thinking you've got this. I wimped out and left half the bowl untouched. But the sampler platter? After being on their feet for a little over a year, we hoped all the normal start-up troubles would be worked out, but unfortunately, we will not be returning. Food: We had the pretzel appetizer, large buffalo wings and shared a salad. The food quality was far below what we would have expected for the price. The pretzels were cold and hard, and the large wing order was made up of 10 previously frozen, flavorless wings. The dinner size salad was very small and nothing better than what you'd get in a premix bag salad at the store. Service: Server was not engaging, did not know the menu and waited by the table while I completed the purchase/tip on a tablet. Our appetizer took 30 minutes and arrived at the same time as the meal. We visit pretty often. The food is pretty good, a little hit and miss but overall good. We've been when it's not busy and the service was somewhat slow. We visited tonight, it was packed and the staff were hustling and doing a great job...especially Becca (spelling?). She was crushing it. She was amazing and kept that place going. I've eaten here probably 20+ times now. They had a very rough start and it has leveled out... some people need to CHILL on negative feedback when a place first opens... This is a locally owned spot by a Franklin family. And I like supporting local! I've had some amazing experiences. I've had some tougher ones (mainly early on). I've seen gradual and continual improvement... and this is what's most important to me... Benchmark has some of the BEST burgers around!! (And they have Blackbean and Chicken Burger options too!) I like mine medium rare and it's been cooked to perfection *every time* for the past few months... *mouth watering* YUM!!! Plus the bun they use now is awesome!! Super tasty fries... I also enjoy coming here for Happy Hour (2-8pm M-F). Most Appetizers $9 and under are 1/2 price! And $5 Wines, $1 off Beer... Honestly though, my favorite Happy Hour combo is: Sweet potato fries w/ honey mustard and an Ice Cold BUSHWACKER!! (Benchmark is KNOWN for this drink... and I've tried about 15 other "Bushwacker" drinks... all were VERY sub par to Benchmark's!! They also have really tasty wraps and salads! Oh! And their cheese dip is home made yumminess! The atmosphere is upscale casual. Which I dig. There does appear to be some staffing glitches from time to time. Nothing horrendous. And it's consistently improving. Remember, it's a sports bar and restaurant. Two stars. Being generous. We had an excellent and polite teen server. That's where it ends. We walked in to find our own seating, not a problem. The set table had some dried sauces that needed scrubbing to remove. Again, not a problem. Appetizers came. Balled fried Mac n cheese was burnt. We had to ask for plates and more silverware. Let's get to the entrees. Sliders were fine per my 12yo. Benchmark burger was mid. Nothing to talk about but carries the venue name...sooo. The fries are awesome all around but were probably from Costco. The BLT didn't have sourdough as advertised. It looked like stepped on wonder bread. For $12.95 more than 2 pieces of bacon and a half decent tomato was a low bar. We also had to ask for mayonnaise which was some bottle trash. The biggest dissatisfied patron was myself with the fish basket. I've probably had fish and chips 200 times in my life and this was the worst. Without being pretentious, I asked if it was hand battered on site as advertised. Server said yes, so I was all in. The presentation was basically a basket of burned batter and the worst fish I've ever seen (see picture of batter ball fish). We paid and left. Lesson learned. The 3.0 star rating is probably accurate but the bottled beer is a safe bet because it's not made there. read more
