I came here because my caterpillar eyebrows needed a clean up and shaping. I made an appointment online and arrived at my appointment time. I waited about 5 minutes after my appointment time and was seated. I don't remember of the lady who did my eyebrows but she did a good job asking what I wanted to get done. I asked for my eyebrows to be shaped and that's exactly what she did. She plucked a couple of stray hairs and my caterpillar eyebrows were all nice and clean. I also asked to have my upper lip waxed. She took her time waxing my eyebrows and lip. I walked up to the register and the lady handed me an envelope (in my head I'm like ??) Duhh the tip!! I was thrown off by that and while it seems discreet it was like I HAD to tip. I didn't like that. I paid and I was on my way. She did a great job on my eyebrows and I would return to get my eyebrows waxed again. At first, we had planned on stopping by MAC for a makeup session, but without an appointment, it was a no go. So I suggested that we try Benefit, and the girls there were more than eager to take us in. I was actually just hanging out to watch, but Destiny, one of the artists, asked if I wanted to get my eyes done, and of course, I couldn't resist. I've used Benefit in the past, mainly because I've received product as gifts from friends. The packaging is so cute, it makes for a great present. However, I've never actually gotten my makeup done at any Benefit counter, nor have I ever needed to get my brows done (I don't have much there to work with). I was extremely impressed with the technique they used -- applying the majority on with fingers -- and the girls at this particular location inside Macy's Oakridge were all super sweet. In less than 30 minutes, my makeup looked fab! Typically if you have a session with them, there's a 3 product minimum. Since I was approached by one of the girls and I only had my eyes done and cheeks retouched, I wasn't obligated to purchase anything. However, I loved the eye makeup so much that I wanted to get it anyways. The products I adore: Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit and Lust Duster shimmering loose powder for eyes and face in Nugget. The makeup artistry of Christina and Wajma are amazing as well -- they'll definitely have you leaving looking all glam. read more

Checked for brow places here on Yelp and chose this place because it had a better rating than the malls near me. Oakridge Mall is 15-20 minutes away from me so if my brows were to turn out bad I'd be really mad. The beautiful lady that waxed my brows, Haley, did an amazing job. She asked me what I wanted done with my brows and made the whole time comfortable by talking to me. It was my very first time getting my brows done and when I was finished and looked in the mirror I was shocked. My eyebrows were really neat and even I couldn't believe they were mine at first. My natural brows weren't much different; she even told me she could make out the shape of my brows from when I got them done before but I told her how I've never gotten them done. I was going to give four stars for the lady working the register (she wasn't wearing a name tag unfortunately) but Haley did such an amazing job I had to give five. I started coming here months ago after a not so great experience at the Valley Fair location and would just stop in whenever I was at Oakridge and go to whoever, then I got Hailey! I told her I liked my brows but just wanted something with a little more shape since they'd been looking kind of "blah" lately. She explained to me in the consultation what she could do to arch them a tad bit more without making them too thin and I agreed. As for the actual wax it was painless! To be honest, this is a review before my waxing. I love the Brow Bar, it has been a haven in what was a hit and miss place to manage the unmanageable or in my case unseen brow and lip hairs. I never gave much thought to the cleanliness of a place, but after having a issue a couple of time, I was so happy to see the difference. I usually go to the bar at Valley Fair, but since I was here at Oakridge I thought I would try it here. Watch a difference, not for the better. I don't mind waiting but there is a staff of 4 and only one can do wax, so the wait was long. But the others are just sitting around chatting, and to be honest, this place could use a good cleaning. Ugh. So much ugh. I've tried to have my eyebrows done here three times now. They didn't have me in the book the first time. Ok, it's close to my apartment and in the mall. Accidents happen. The second time, the girl went home sick and apparently nobody else could salvage my caterpillars for me. Ok, I'm a bit disgruntled at this point. I'll just grab Vegan Hut on my way out to cheer me up. Third time is a charm, right? Who wouldn't want a great eyebrow place within biking distance of their apartment? Third time. Walk in. My waxer was running behind schedule. (I get it. Random Tuesdays are obviously busy.) I checked back one hour later, and she still wasn't ready for me. At that point, I discovered I could get my mascara and cheek stain elsewhere. A simple apology could have saved it, but that's asking too much out of people. They'll get two stars because it's easy to grab product and go if you know exactly what you need. Thankfully, I drove to Los Gatos and didn't run into this behavior. Finally, girl with the stink eye? Don't look me up and down like I'm the hot mess. You're the one that can't figure out how to schedule appointments. I'm not going to rock a full face of makeup to go on a date with hot wax. Bumping this review up to 4.5 stars! This place has gotten so much better since the last time I reviewed them. Tammie and Stephanie are two of the best brow gals I have had the pleasure to meet. Very friendly and personal and they truly enjoy what they do. I remember coming here months ago and dealing with so much gossip, but it has changed a lot. Not sure if management has changed or what, but I love this place! I don't feel pressure saled anymore when I come here either. I am not a big fan of the Benefit cosmetic line due to having sensitive skin but I love their brow bar and will continue to come here for years to come. They have increased their prices to $20 from $18 but that won't stop me from getting my unruly brows done every month ;) read more

Tammy is amazing! I grew out my eyebrows for about a month because I wanted to reshape them. Because my eyebrows have always been and still were sparse, I asked her if it was at all possible to do this since I was told it couldn't be done by the usual person I go to. After giving me a consult about how thick I should have them based on my face shape and how much of an arch she could give me, etc., she asked me what I wanted. Now, I'm no brow expert so I left it all up to her but just asked for them not to be too thin. I loved how she listened to exactly what I wanted and made sure I liked the shape and thickness before she started the other side. I could tell that she has a ton of experience because she made my eyebrows look amazing in less than 20 minutes! She also showed me tips on how to fill them in and trim them myself. Will definitely be back for the brow bar and to try some new products. As a newbie to the Benefit product, I kind of expected a more thorough demo. The girl only went into the makeup product after I asked her to. My appt was at 3, but wasn't seen until 10 min. Later. Not really an issue but the appt wasn't even with who I requested it to be with! I would've came earlier in the day if I knew that would happen. After further asking, Liz, my artist was Very good at explaining and showing the product application she did on me. She was very nice and did a great job on my brows. My only complaint is with the older lady that works there.. I think she is the only one.. I have only been there twice but each time, she has been entirely either snooty or in a pissy mood! I am a huge fan of the Brow Bar at Benefit! I have had my eyebrows done at many different salons, have tried the whole threading thing, but after getting them done at the Brow Bar it made every other time seem like total crap! They did such a great, detailed job. They use lots of little strips in order to get the perfect shape instead of 1 big strip like some other places do. The girls are super nice and I always find myself chatting away with them while I get a wax. It costs $20.00 which is a little much for me, but so totally worth it! Also, usually when I go someplace else the hair starts to grow back in a week to two weeks but when I go to the brow bar my eyebrows are looking great for much longer. Everytime I've gone here, I've been really happy leaving. The girls that work at this counter are so friendly and helpful. I got my makeup done here recently, for my birthday, and I actually had fun while the girl was doing my makeup. I love how Benefit focuses a lot on make up that fixes flaws, instead of just color. You know that what you're putting on your face is actually GOOD for it. When I went here a long time ago, it was a two item minimum, but now they've upped it to three. I can't complain though, because I love the products I picked out, and can't imagine my make up routine without them now. I've also been to the brow bar section of the Benefit counter, and I was just as pleased with that. My eyes and sinuses are incredibly sensitive, and once the girl started waxing and plucking, my eyes started watering and I started sneezing like crazy. I felt bad, because it was probably really annoying to the girl doing my brows, but she was really nice about it, giving me tissues and make up remover, and letting me stop every minute to sneeze. I personally am probably not going to go back to get my brows done, but if I WEREN'T so sensitive, I'd be there every other week!! But like I said... GREAT place to get your make up done. Never again... if it's not Tammy, I won't schedule an appointment with anyone else. I may just be spoiled by Tammy's awesomeness whenever I come in for my facial.... because I never get home and discover any mistakes. I mean what can go wrong for a facial, right? Apparently, you can be on the short end of the waxing stick :( With the red, you get a little foundation to cover your skin. I didn't notice the zigzag pattern until I got home. It's my fault for not looking thoroughly into the enchanted Benefits hand mirror. I just did a usual peek, saw my ruddy complexion, and my eyebrows on point after a clean up around the arches. Little did I know, after washing away my foundation and losing the afterglow of a good facial... I saw that there were spots missed. not little patches or fine hair here or there... but zig zag patterns. it looked like I made an attempt to be Starburns, the character from the show Community. Carissa was actually pretty awesome pain wise, up to par with Tammy in the painless pull-a-way... just not the way of the wax master when up comes to getting the job done right, or done right for the first time. I didn't go back to get it fixed, I just thought I'd wait until my next appointment with Tammy. With the holidays here, I'm in no hurry to wait in a busy mall. Worth the price, no. There is no editing or makeup added to the brow to make it look better it's purely the talent of Karissa (hope I spelt that right). She is a miracle worker. I used to go to the eyebrow God, Louisanna (once again hope I spelt that right) and she'd get it perfectly EVERY SINGLE TIME until she no longer worked there and I actually cried. I do not trust ANYONE with my eyebrows, not even myself, which is why I go to the benefit brow bar sooo often. I even considered calling her and having her do my brows outside of benefit like at my house or something!!
