HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE! This was the first time I had ever patronized the restaurant and it will definitely be my last. I wish I could give the rating a zero. We were seated at 3:25 PM. There were literally 10 people in the restaurant when we were seated, we had a party of 9, it was NOT busy. No one checked on us until 3:54 PM so the birthday party sat there irritated and agitated until we finally got management to get someone to wait on us. We didn't get our food until after 5:30pm! I wanted to leave, but I was there for a birthday dinner so I didn't want to be rude, but I will say this I will never ever, ever patronize this restaurant again. Had to work pretty hard to save our spirits after a terrible birthday dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation, but we had to wait 20 minutes to sit down. Following that it was another 25 minutes before we got a glass of water. Our chef was not very entertaining or enthusiastic, which was fine because we were starving by the time the food even got started. Waited ages for drinks, and I made the mistake of looking up while waiting. The drop ceiling tiles in between the range hoods are pretty gross, and I was really disappointed in the whole experience. The hostess, whose name I didn't catch, was an absolute joy. I've been here several times and never received the type of service and instruction that she provided. She really took ownership over her post and you could tell that she wanted us to enjoy our visit. Our server, Winter, was finishing up with another table, so another member of the wait staff pitched in and took our drink orders. The teamwork and effort to keep things moving was nice to see. When he did make it over to our table, Winter was fast and efficient. He took our orders immediately and got everything out quickly and accurately. Rolando was our chef. He had a good sense of humor and catered "the show" to the youngest guest at our table. It was good fun. By the time he was done cooking, we were full. We requested to-go boxes and the bill. I was using my complimentary $30 birthday certificate and the server took care of that right away. I should mention that the receipt said our server's name was Ceylon, but I'm almost certain that the hostess called him Winter. I've been contemplating posting this review for a few days now, as I wasn't sure how to share our experience. Our son wanted to celebrate his birthday at the Hibachi, and he chose this chain because he had never been to the "pretty one by the mall". However, we should have known something was amiss when we arrived at a desolate parking lot with weeds in the concrete and trash on the ground by the door. Despite it being a Saturday night at dinner time, the restaurant was empty. We sat down and found the menus to be very confusing and were surprised by the high prices. We dine at hibachi restaurants every few months around Indy, and none of them charge as much as this one. After negotiating our meal choices and placing our orders, we noticed that they charged extra for many items that are typically included at other places. Our chef arrived and was polite and confident, but the performance lacked the usual flair and excitement. The show was minimal, with just a few clangs on the grill and flips of the knife. I won't criticize the food, as it was decent but nothing extraordinary. When you go to Benihana, you are there for an experience. It helps that the food is delicious, too! My family has been eating at Benihana every year for Father's Day for as long as I can remember, and we've never grown tired of it. I wait all year to see the "flaming onion" and flying utensils. With a five-course meal, we always have food left over, but we always enjoy our meals! The "Emperor's Feast" (Hibachi Steak and Chicken) is a favorite in my family. The chefs and waiters and Benihana are always very conscientious when it comes to allergies, which I appreciate because my mom is allergic to shrimp. Benihana has remained a classic in my family, and you can bet we'll be back to celebrate Father's Day next year!! read more

We came here with some friends for lunch on a Monday. Our friends made a reservation but it didn't seem necessary as it was pretty empty for lunch. Our server came over quite quickly and got our drinks and our order. When the chef came out, he realized that either our server or the host did not turn on the grill. So we had to wait several more minutes before the chef could start. Once he started he only did one trick. I think he was upset due to the situation and the fact that the server forgot to put enough chicken on his cart. The food was good but it just took a lot longer than expected. And the lunch special is about the same price as dinner price at other hibachi places. Our server didn't come back for refills so we had to flag someone else down to get some. He also was kinda short with us and not attentive. Some notes on cleanliness: the pictures in the lobby were covered in dust, the bathroom floor was sticky. Another note was my chair was very wobbly. We came to Benihanas today to celebrate my grandson's birthday. We asked for extra chicken and the server Dominque we had said loud, it's an extra $20. I found that to be very rude and I didn't care about the price, it's what we asked for. Also, when we first came in, they asked if it was someone's birthday and I said yes. We had the option to pick picture and ice cream. The waiter said ice cream does not come with your meal, again rude to say that as we asked for ice cream, please give us what we asked for. We spend a lot money in Benihanas and for the waiter to be so rude about pricing and what we asked was not cool! I won't be going back! read more

This place needs to do better. I use to love coming to this place with the annoying wait but yall need to DEEP CLEAN! The amount of film grease/dirt on the ceiling is ridiculous and to make matters worse it's on the exhaust fan flute too (yuck). We did stay, Mi Amor vote not mine, and I ordered the veggie hibachi. When the waists was asked me what kind of veggies I honestly didn't know I just assumed it was only going to be mushroom and onions. They actually have a few other options, one of them being corn. If you're expecting baby corn don't get the corn (see my pictures). Needless to say I wasn't in here long and didn't really eat. I HIGHLY recommend a deep clean and get some new ceiling tiles. read more

I love hibachi! And Benihana did not disappoint. Our women's club met today for lunch. 15 of us took up two grills. My only negative ... it got really loud when both chefs were cooking! Love the lunch menu. Portion size was great. Only a few had leftovers to take home. We had one shellfish allergy. The chef was meticulous in keeping the shrimp away from her food. Much appreciated. Our chef obviously loves his job! He was so entertaining. This place might be a little more expensive ( although the lunch menu prices were good) but worth it to me. read more

This is your typical hibachi restaurant but they do sing if it's your birthday. Which is why I gave it one less star. We listened to the birthday song 5x while there. Other than that the food was excellent and the butter they used had a good amount of garlic in it, which I enjoyed a lot! The chef was fun and quick with the food prep. I'm usually someone who only leaves positive reviews, but this one was just so disappointing and I want to save everyone else. This restaurant doesn't even look great from the outside (it is new to us and we were surprised). We looked at the menu prior to deciding to go there and decided what we would get. We were excited and then immediately disappointed. We were seated with another very casual group in workout clothes after the website and door to the restaurant described a dress code that we followed. We were not allowed to order what we planned to, the menu is very unclear and seems like meat can be added to a portion of fried rice for a smaller meal, but the waiter would not allow this, which is the whole reason we went to the restaurant, so the meal was three times the price we planned for (we absolutely would not have gone there for what they charge for the rest of the "larger" menu items). Sauces were offered with no disclaimer that we would be charged for them, the waiter was unhelpful when we found the menu confusing and then almost as if they were annoyed that we declined the fried rice, our steamed rice that came with the meals we chose was brought out at the end of the meal when we asked about it and they brought our check immediately after and essentially rushed us out. We were barely spoken to during our entire visit, and what we got was extremely disappointing in both quantity and taste. We could have gone to another restaurant and gotten double the food that tasted better or cooked at home for a far better and more quality experience. Just really disappointed across the board that we wasted our money when we barely get a date night with this economic situation, and posting this in hopes that people hold this restaurant accountable. Went to Benihana for Christmas dinner. The place was packed! Even though we had a reservation at 2:30, we had to wait for an hour before we got a table. Despite the wait, the service and the food were excellent! Let me first say that I have not been to Benihana in several years. Today was a Christmas luncheon for my department at work, a welcomed opportunity to get with teammates, laugh and have fun. The reservation was at 2pm, we were advised by the restaurant to be on time to be seated, NO PROBLEM. We check in and despite it not being packed in the establishment, it took them 30 - 40 minutes to seat us. Once seated it still took a long time to be served. Half of our group got both their soups and salads at the same time, we got our salads and it was an additional wait to get our soups. After further waiting maybe about 3:30 or so they finally started to prepare our food. I ordered a mock tail that was super sweet but good and then the Benihana trio. Parts of the meal were not the greatest but the steak was cooked to perfection and the yum yum sauce never disappoints. The fried rice lacked flavor and my shrimp were over cooked .We had to ask for to go boxes as our server disappeared a few times without checking on us. One of the team mates had to ask the chef what she needed to do to get a drink and he was able to get a server to come over to assist. I remember from past visits it would get smoky but it was cloudy it was so much smoke. I don't remember it being that way. I'm to understand as well that we were supposed to get tea and a dessert (I'm not sure how true that is) since I've not been there in a long time but if that's the case we didn't get that either. More importantly than anything, it was about those in attendance. We had so much fun just laughing and talking it made up for everything else. We always have a great time when we get together. I eat at Benihana all the time with my family and just left Benihana's after having had the worst experience. 1) I ordered the filet mignon and I ordered it medium. It came out burnt to a crisp and was very chewy. Attached is a picture. I feel like I wasted so much money because it wasn't very editable. 2) I ordered fried rice with chicken and confirmed the my order with the chef. My fried rice arrived with no chicken. Attached is a picture. 3) The chef didn't give us any mustard sauce. We had to ask 3 times for mustard sauce. 4) The chef added way too much pepper to every dish. My nephew wouldn't eat his meals because it had too much pepper. Attached are images that show all the pepper. 5) When we sat down...literally everything was sticky. The table, menus, and floor was dirty. It was disgusting. 6) None of the shrimp were deveined. We were served the digestive track since it wasn't cleaned. It was disgusting. 7) None of the salads were fresh. This entire meal felt like a massive waste of money and I don't ever want to come back if this is the new standard. I'm more than frustrated and disappointed. The manger also came by at the end to ask how was everything went and I didn't want to make a scene since there were way too many problems and it would have been an awkward conversation. My family dines at Benihana every year to celebrate three May birthdays. We were there Saturday, May 3 and were very unhappy. The food and service were as usual, we always enjoy the hibachi experience and our server was very good. My issue was this: there were two tables next to us that were clearly a large family with a large number of little girls. They chose to seat all the little girls at one table with a token adult. The other table was all adults, and they clearly didn't give a crap about what was going on at the kids table. When I say these girls were awful, I mean they were screaming, up from their seats and trying to jump on each others backs, knocking down chairs and bumping into the people seated around them. Not only was this beyond annoying, it's a safety hazard with those 800 degree tables! I felt awful for the servers who had to contend with this, but the manager in duty did nothing. I never saw him talk to the adults and warn them, he never approached other tables to apologize, nothing. At the very least, that family should have been warned, perhaps even made to break up the little girls with more adults, or maybe the kids should have been disciplined (but bad parenting is another topic). Needless to say, all that commotion didn't make our experience very enjoyable and I think the manager that night should have done more to control this situation. If for no other reason than their behavior was unsafe. Do better next time. read more

We visited Benihana Indianapolis on December 12, 2025. Our reservation was at 730p and we weren't sat at our table until 830p. We totally understood how seating works as everyone eats slower or faster than others. That was not the problem. The "waitress" or lady who took our order was awful unfortunately. She took over 20 minutes from the time we sat down to take our drink orders and then over 20 more minutes to bring them out. When a woman sitting at the end of our table mentioned something, she was respectful back. When I mentioned something (super calm), she was extremely rude. When she finally came back with our drinks, she got loud with me in front of the 3 strangers sitting at the end of our table, treating me like it was my fault she took forever. Right after taking our drink orders, there were four open Hibachi tables. It should not have taken that long at all. We had a party of 5, our bill was over 200 dollars (which we absolutely expected). However, our chef was amazing. He was hilarious and so fun to watch and our food was delicious! Does this entire situation deter my family from wanting to go back again? Probably. read more
