Amazing!!! Food was absolutely delicious, service was incredible, chef (Opars in picture below) was as hilarious as he was entertaining. Highly recommend

(Kari's Rating 6.5/10) Came on Valentine's Day and had a 7:45pm reservation. They're 45 behind schedule and just seating their 7pms. I know it's not the hostess' fault but absolutely terrible moods starting. They definitely should've called people and let people know that they are an hour behind because then it would give people the opportunity who drove 45 minutes like us the opportunity to cancel. I can't even rate the food because we didn't get it. We finally got seated around 8:30 and the food was really good. The chef was impressive and the servers were very attentive. We ended up getting out of here about 10 o'clock so if we had plans after our reservation initially at 7:45, we probably wouldn't have made them, but thankfully we didn't have anything after and it was a fun experience. We probably won't come back to this location as we live in the city, but the quality of the quantity of the food was plenty. The chef was relatively attentive and very skillful. It was overall a good meal.

My family has been going to Benihana for my birthday for years now. While , we've always enjoyed the experience and the food is tasty. Price have significantly gone up overtime, but I get that with most restaurants. It's definitely a special occasion Place when an entrée is around $40-$60 depending on what you order. While it does come with soup, salad, appetizer, and ice cream dessert, it's still a large bill for a family. Service was good and always fun to watch the Chef prepare the food tableside.

Our timing was odd on a Monday at 12:30. Wanted to take out teenagers here before school started. Knew it would be a little cheesy for them but had fun. Overall food is good, took longer than we really wanted to spend on lunch. Happy we tried it.

Disappointing Birthday Experience :( Had a 6:00 PM birthday reservation and wasn't seated until 7:00 PM, even though everyone arrived on time. We called ahead to confirm bringing a cake and were told it was fine and would be cut for us. When we arrived, we were suddenly told there was a $5 per person cake fee, which was never mentioned on the phone. On top of that, the birthday credit was not honored because it's apparently not valid Friday-Sunday -- something we were also not told in advance. Service was inattentive and we were only offered drink refills once. Overall, very disappointing, I don't know that I will want to come back for celebrations again.

I went to Benihana for a friend's birthday, and it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had. My portion of the bill was nearly $100, which included my own dinner and a small share of the birthday guest's meal. For that price, I expected much better quality and service. I could have gone to Eddie V's and spent less for a significantly better meal. I ordered the hibachi scallops, and the seafood quality was extremely poor. The leftovers smelled so bad when I got home that I couldn't even bring them into the house and ended up throwing them directly into the outdoor garbage. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution against ordering seafood here. The service was also frustrating. Our waiter was unable to split the checks, which meant I couldn't use my preferred payment method and made the billing process more complicated than it should have been. At the end of the meal, the staff took a photo of our group, which was a thoughtful gesture. However, it would have been better if they had asked whether we wanted to pose instead of taking the picture unexpectedly at the table. Overall, the food quality, service, and value did not justify the cost. I would not recommend this location and do not plan to return.

My second time dining at this location. I sat at the hibachi table up in the summer to celebrate my birthday. I absolutely loved the experience and food prepared in front of me. The cook put on a amazing show for us and the server made sure everyone at the table was having a good time. My food was seasoned to perfection. If you sign up to receive emails., you will receive $10.00 to use towards your meal. I enjoyed the staff coming to the table and singing Happy Birthday. And they take your photo for free for a keep sake. I also came back for Happy Hour and again, I wasn't disappointed. Nice vibes, drinks and food

    Filthy grill.

We made a reservation for 4 people. We got seated by another couple that was already waiting. The waiter took our order informed him that the water glasses were dirty he informed us that that's how the other glasses would be. We waited approximately 45 minutes for a chef the other couple that was seated waited an hour. A Mgr was requested and were informed that a chef would come out shortly. The place was not crowded at all. When the chef arrived we informed him that the grill was filthy. He tried cleaning it but left parts the same. The chef informed everyone that the grill had to heat up. The other couple got upset and walked out. We spoked with the mgr again and showed her the partially filthy grill and then we got up and left with the grill still filthy. The service with the chef and waiter was below standards We were here 2 months and left a good review but today NO!!!!!

I made a reservation for a Saturday birthday dinner for my mom (party of four). Booking online was easy, and there was also an option to call in. Parking was manageable, though the shared lot with nearby stores caused some congestion. I arrived 10 minutes early without issue. When we entered the restaurant, the hostess experience immediately set a negative tone. The hostesses were engaged in their own conversation and barely acknowledged us, making it feel like we were interrupting them rather than being welcomed in. Instead of a simple "Welcome in," we got a cold, transactional "How can we help you?" I provided my name and reservation time, and after handing menus to another hostess, there was no "Enjoy your meal" or any polite acknowledgment. I even said "Thank you" to them, only to be met with blank stares--no response, no smile, nothing. That immediately rubbed me the wrong way. To make matters worse, after I clearly stated that I had a reservation for four and that we had all arrived together, the hostess still asked, "Is your entire party here?" and reminded me that we couldn't be seated unless everyone was present. This felt completely unnecessary and rushed, as they could visibly see that we were all standing together. It was just another layer of a poor first impression, making the entire interaction feel transactional and unwelcoming. The dining area wasn't crowded, yet it felt congested with staff standing around. We were seated at a communal hibachi table and initially told we had to sit a certain way to accommodate additional guests. However, our amazing server Mimi (Noami) later informed us that no one else would be joining, so we could spread out for comfort--which made much more sense given the empty restaurant. Mimi was attentive, frequently checked in, and ensured our allergies were communicated to the chef, Daniel, who verified them before preparing our food. The food itself was great, and while the hibachi tricks were average, they were still fun for first-timers. The restaurant also sang happy birthday and gave us a photo, which was a nice touch. However, the seating arrangements remained awkward. The extra place settings were never cleared, making the table feel unnecessarily cramped as food arrived. The hostess's poor judgment on seating, without actually checking the reservation list, was frustrating. After we paid and left, we returned within five minutes because my brother forgot his hat. We checked the table, lost and found, the bathroom, and the hostess stand, but it was nowhere to be found. It was strange that an item could disappear so quickly, especially at a restaurant where lost items are typically set aside. Overall, I am in no rush to return to this location. The food and service from Mimi were great, but the rude and disengaged hostesses put a bad taste in my mouth from the start. First impressions matter, and this one was not great. I don't believe in spending money at places where I don't feel comfortable. If you're just looking for a quick meal, this place might work, but if you care about the full dining experience, I'd look elsewhere.

I've been a few places like this, from the familiar Benihana to a long-shuttered shithole storefront in OakPark where the Chef tried valiantly to put on a show, but fortunately he was a better Chef than a Showman. Shinto, here, is a fave of Daughter #3 and her family so we took over an entire table with our Party. A bit of Sushi pre-show, (it was edible) and then, curtains UP! The repertoire of Chefs in all these joints are quite similar, and the quality is measured by how inspired the chef is, and THAT metric is subjective to the receptiveness of the table. If all are ready to have a good time, the Circuses will match the Bread. If there's a Bruno Bummer in the crowd, it's going to be a long meal. Fortunately, our crew is of the "fun" persuasion and the Chef seemed to be, as well. The theatrics were the usual moves- tossing knives (and bits of Shrimp) in the air, and each of us got a chance to catch morsels in our mouths (mostly futile). The "onion train" thing, and occasional flambé were there, as was the balancing of the bowl of rice on a knife. The "Mustard Bottle with a string" is always good for a laugh. The Menu is pretty much the same at all of these places-Shrimp, Steak, or Chicken, Salad, Fried Rice, Veggies. All theatrically prepared in front of you. All of it top-quality and tasty. It would have been a great feed even without the stage show. If you're particular to only one type of dressing on your salad, you're out of luck unless you're into Soy Ginger, which is the onliest topper you're going to find here. Personally, I dig it, but Wife who is a Ranch aficionado took a pass. The Fried Rice was exceptional. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the ingredients, so the Chef's deft hand was responsible for the Yum. The Chef was quite fun, and he got our steaks off at the perfect desired temperatures, while keeping up the theatrics. There's an option for "French Garlic" topping for the proteins which is basically Garlic, Butter, and Breadcrumbs. This stuff would make a ceiling tile palatable. If you visit here, I highly recommend it. If you're looking for something different in the Hibachi line, this ain't it. But the show and the food were top-notch Throwing a well-deserved 5 stars.

Finally, a staff member said the people at our reserved table were still eating and they were waiting for them to get up. When I asked when our table would actually be ready, she laughed, threw her hands up, and said she didn't know. What made the situation even worse was watching other customers walk in and be seated while we continued to wait. From what I observed, Black families were waiting extended periods of time, while White and Mexican customers were seated much more quickly. A party of 15 that arrived well after us was even seated before my group. I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the treatment my family received on my mother's birthday. This would have been her first hibachi experience, and instead it was ruined by poor customer service and what appeared to be unfair treatment. I will never return and would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

After we were sat, drinks came quickly, but it took a FULL 50 MINUTES before food was on the grill. Half of our table (a family of 4 with kids) left, because the kids were hungry - and again, while it is Valentine's Day, they had a 5:30pm reservation, and they finally walked out after over an hour. We and the other couple stayed, but after all was said and done, we spent 90 minutes from seating to receipt. The food was good overall - we had gyoza dumplings, and Mai Tais for drinks, both were great. I went with steak and scallops - the scallops were pretty sloppy and underwhelming, but the steak was very well done. My husband had steak and chicken, and it was also quite good. So while it scratched that 20 year itch, it was just ok. I probably won't be back on purpose.
