Came for dinner on a Wednesday night. They are only allowing reservations for hibachi service and walk-ins may still in the bar area however it was full last night, luckily we had a reservation. I have been to many hibachi style restaurants and Japanese steakhouses before but this was my first experience at a Benihana. I had high expectations because of friends stories, but this meal really didn't live up to the hype. We were sat at a table that had four plates (there were only two of us in our party). As we waited to be greeted by a server another table near us was sat with a party of two. We waited a bit more and then were joined by a party of three at our table. We noticed the table of two near us was already being greeted and ordering drinks while we were waiting for the rest of our table to sit. Once they sat and were comfortable a server came to greet us and take drink orders. We both ordered water, however the other guest at our table ordered cocktails. Our server did not bring our waters to the table until the other guests cocktails were ready. At which point he asked if we wanted appetizers, we did not. The other guests orders appetizers. (It is at this point we notice the table of two next to us had already received their beverages, soups and salads). Our server put in the order for the appetizer and returned to take our dinner order. My guest and I both ordered Rocky's Choice which comes with hibachi vegetable, shrimp appetizer, steamed rice (with a choice to upgrade to chicken fried rice for $4+ more), chicken, steak, green tea, and ice cream for dessert. Server took the rest of the tables orders and left. At this point we had been in the restaurant for 30 minutes and only received water. (That table I keep mentioning is currently clapping for their onion volcano at this point, salads and soups cleared, and happily munching away on their rice). Now the other guests at our table receive their appetizer. My stomach let's out quite the growl because I'm starving at this point. At last we see a chef pushing a cart full of food our way! Hooray! He set ups his station and takes temperatures for our steaks and begins preparing the grill. Now I'm really confused because in my past experience with hibachi I should be full of soup and salad by now?? And that's when I see our server coming around the corner with soup and salad in hand. 40 minutes in to this experience and I finally get my first bite of soup. I was disappointed because the soup was not hot, warm at minimum, but at least it had a great flavor. Salad dressing was nice and light with great greens and veggies. What would hibachi be without a good ole fashion onion volcano which our chef displayed wonderfully! Next up came the steak? Which also confused me because we had not yet received our steamed rice (which we ended up having to ask the server for specifically even though it's listed on the menu??) or any of the veggies. But I was too hungry to care at that point and dug in. We order the steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Chicken came next and I was a little bummed because it was a relatively small portion, especially compared to the steak. The chicken was cooked nicely but lacked in flavor. Next up, the veggies also cooked very well. Our server stopped by to make sure everything was tasting good, at which point we asked for our rice. After dinner we asked about the jasmine green tea mention in the menu with our dinner and we received a large pot, which was wonderful and perfect after such a large meal. We split some rainbow sherbet because we were feeling nostalgic but mainly because it was included! Overall I would say I was let down. The food was decent but nothing special, the service was alright, and our chef was definitely not as much as an entertainer as the few chefs we noticed around us but did provide us with a few shrimp tail flips into the hat at the end of service. I would not recommend this place to friends, especially after our experience as a whole. I do not believe that it was worth (after tax and tip) ~$80 for two people especially without ordering any drinks or appetizers. I usally get a birthday coupon for dinner every year. Last year I didn't get one. My birthday is Dec. 10th. This year I got it on Dec 21st, which I was out of town on vacation. There was Benihana or Samurai where I was. I reached out for them to extend the coupon since it used to be until the first week of January. This time it ends on Dec 30 which you cannot use on the weekends. I returned on the 28th of Dec. so I cannot use it. They informed me it could not be extended. My point is, if they would have sent it on my birthday, I had enough time to use it. It's like they really don't want you to have that free meal. read more

Received a $30 off coupon for my birthday, so I made a reservation for me and the wife for 7:30 on a Wednesday night. Arrived at 7:20 and was told they'd text me when my table was ready. What's the point of making a reservation if you have to wait when you get there. It's now 7:35 and I'm still waiting, if by 7:45 I'm not seated I'm leaving never to return. Ok 7:40 and they want to seat us at a communal table with people having a party as I did not plan on ordering any hibachi I asked to be seated at a private table in the lounge. The manager told me that when you make a reservation they assume you want to be seated at the hibachi, don't assume. Our server was pleasant and attentive without being overly so. The temperature in the room was waay too warm to be comfortable. We ordered edamame for an appetizer. I ordered a 5 course seafood dinner it included a very good onion soup, a mixed salad with ginger dressing. The seafood combo had jumbo shrimp (large at best), chopped calamari and baby scallops (more like embryo, scallops) they were properly cooked and tasted good. White rice and sautéed veggies rounded out the meal. The green tea was good. My visit to the men's room left a lot to be desired, the floor was slippery wet with used paper towels on the floor and around the sink. If not for the coupon they gave me I would not have gone to eat there and won't be back any time soon. OMG I have been going to Benihana since they opened. The chef was unprofessional. The rice was without flavor. We had to ask for butter to put on the rice. The food was flying off the grill. A piece of egg hit my foot and fell to the floor by my foot. It was not what we usually expect from Benihana. The other people at the table did not enjoy their meals. Either they left the food. Great!!! We went last night for my niece's birthday. The look of the restaurant is nice. They have it spaced out in a way that gives you a more private feel to your party. Our server, unfortunately I don't remember her name, was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. Answered all our questions and kept our drinks filled. Our appetizers didn't take too long to show up. I'm not a huge sushi fan, but everyone liked the rolls they got. The chicken gyoza was yummy! Then our chef was hilarious!!!!! He was very interactive with us and made everyone laugh. Recovery is so important to me. My bartender was Marcel and the fact that I judged him way before he even really showed me he cared stood out for me. He made an amazing mojito and I ordered sushi my daughter wings and I had ordered hibachi chicken rice. The rice came back not to my liking and although he didn't seem liked he cared when my bill came it was barely anything. He took care of mostly everything. First let me mention that you should definitely book a reservation a couple of days prior. We were lucky to be seated as a walk in when we came in on a Saturday night and only had to wait 10 minutes but the wait would've been longer. When the three of us were able to sit in a hibachi table with 4 others the waiter was able to take our order pretty quickly, the only downside was the wait for when we would get our soup and salad and when the chef would appear. But I do realize that a lot of service places are short staffed. However, once he came it was game time and we enjoyed the show he gave us and the food was absolutely delicious and filling. The yum yum sauce added the perfect touch to my hibachi chicken!! The soup and the ginger salad were also hot and crisp. The food is not bad but it is overpriced for that it is. I used to love coming here but honestly the quality has declined tremendously. We sat at the hibachi table since we had kids and thought it would be perfect for them. The chef was not bad but barely did any of the tricks that they do. The food was just ok. Our waitress was wonderful though. The Mai tais were delicious too. The food for our youngest son was never served to him. We shared our with him but that was a bummer. We paid over $200 for 3 people (2 adults and 1 kid since the other one was not served) but I don't feel it was worth the money. read more

I don't go out of my way for this place but when I do go here, I always remember how much fun I have and how great the food is! I love this place because they have the cook in front of you here and it is always so much fun watching my food get prepared but a chef that likes to have fun while cooking! I usually opt for the hibachi chicken which is Chicken breast and mushrooms grilled with sesame seeds which also comes with fried rice. The chicken breast is always cooked and chopped perfectly and the seasoning on it is always wonderful as well. It is always juicy and that is one benefit of this place because I have never had food from here that was dry or overcooked. The rice is also really good and not to greasy like other hibachi places that I have been to. The starter salad is also great and the dressing that they use is wonderful and if I could drink it, I would! The staff is always friendly here and they are attentive as well. Prices are decent but a bit on the higher end, but you do get what you pay for when the food is being cooked right in front of you and made to order! I'm really surprised and upset by having to write a review like this for what used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Sadly, this location has gone downhill fast. Bathrooms are not stocked properly. Two of three bathrooms were without toilet paper the two times I went in there. There were no paper towels available. Trash was overflowing in the bathroom. If I would have seen this at the beginning of my visit, I would have left because the bathroom is a sure sign of cleanliness in the kitchen. The same can be said for the trash in the bar area. I walked through that area to go to the bathroom and there were straw wrappers all over the floor and their blue garbage can was filled to the top with garbage. This is in plain sight of the patrons. It is extremely unappealing while people are eating or even to walk through. Service was fair. We had to ask for drink refills several times. At the table behind where we were sitting, there were a bunch of employees sitting there joking around with Chick-fil-A cups and a bag of pretzels from Staples. It just seemed odd to me that there were Chick-fil-A cups and food containers everywhere in plain sight of customers. It is just like restaurant management does not give a hoot. Friends are also scattered throughout the restaurant but apparently don't get used very often because the floors were a mess. I used to say that Benihana was consistently good. Maybe the service or even drinks were off of it but never the food. Well, this location has changed that. The onions in the soup were different and have no flavor. I asked the server if they change Brands and he said no. The chicken fried rice was excellent. It was cooked just right. The main dish for me was filet mignon. This is usually seasoned to perfection but on this occasion was pretty bland. I had to use ginger sauce to try and make the meat taste better. I feel as if this visit was a nightmare and not a real restaurant experience. I am actually appalled by this visit. I cannot believe I had an experience like this at this type of restaurant. This used to be a fine dining restaurant but this location has gone downhill quick. It is a somewhat expensive meal and I feel like I was in a fast food restaurant. I was at the Fort Lauderdale location twice this year and that one was only slightly better. I don't know where to go from here Benihana's. You used to be one of my favorite restaurants but I cannot justify going to one of your restaurants and being annoyed and not even enjoying the food nearly as much as I used to. read more

Came today for a family birthday and it didn't feel as special as everyone hypes up Benihana's to be. Very lack luster ambiance, kind of dark and not much of a view and felt pretty tight inside. Now our chef definitely made things a little awkward with the way they spoke to us. Didn't say anything but could tell the mood definitely shifted and wasn't in a good way either. Seemed more of a chore for the chef regardless of how delicious the food was, it truly took away from the experience. Could have been a lot better and nicer with the people who keep your doors open.
