We started using Hartland last year when we decided to fill our wood burning fireplace in with a…read moregas log insert. My husband was in charge of finding the best place to use to install and fill the two tanks. So, I can't take all of he credit. We lease two propane tanks and then when one tank is empty, we have them come out and swap it out for a filled one. The rate for the propane fluctuates, just like the rate of gasoline does. The insert burns 34,000 btus in an hour, if it's turned full blast, but we run ours on low, and only went through one tank last year. Keep in mind, we had a pretty bad winter last year. In addition to not using a huge amount of propane, our electricity bill decreased drastically because of the insert. I wasn't home last year when they came out and installed the tanks, but I was home on Friday, when they brought and switched out the replacement. The guy was super nice, I thought that he was a friend of my husband's. My husband said no, everyone at Hartland is super nice like that. That being said, I highly recommend a gas insert and using Hartland to service it.

in previous years they were fine, until they swapped out our tank for a bigger one without our…read morepermission then charged us for it. we paid it anyway, we have the price guarantee that involves courtesy checks/fills. previous years they came out once a month to check us in the cooler months. after the change of the tanks we never seen them until we ran out of propane, then acted like they weren't going to come out until the follow week. Communication with them is ridiculous and everyone there seems bothered by your phone call, potentially rude even. I called them about the $1000+ bill they left after we ran out and asked for some help with the bill. I understand that I could/should've checked the tank level but they're supposed to do courtesy checks. Wasn't asking for free but a little break since it was 50/50 fault but was still expected to pay full price.
