When I got my first slice at Benny's my expectations were low. I saw the huge piece of pizza and assumed it was a gimmick restaurant. While the slices are friggin' huge, it's totally legit pizza. They hit every point - crust, sauce, and cheese. The crust is crispy and thin, but holds up under the weight (no tip-sag when picked up, despite the size). Sauce is not too spicy, not too sweet, and just enough without being too much. Cheese holds together, doesn't pull off with a bite, with just a little melty cheese string. All that said, they have very few topping options, and are a great spot for a quick slice of chee or pep. Not where I'd look for a family dinner supreme. I eat lunch here at least once a week since moving to Lynchburg. read more

Will never go back. Pretty good pie, and great to be able to get by the slice in a small town, but DANG! Sooooo slow. Just too painful to watch such inefficiency behind the counter again. I used to love this place, but i am becoming frustrated. Our pizza been burnt many times recently: to the point where it is inedible. Had to tear the bottom layer of crust off to even eat it. Called to complain and they offered replacements but we drove aways just to get there and dont want to do it again. No refund offered for our $20+ of pizza. We are repeat customers but may stop coming soon if this keeps happening. Look forward to Benny's all week but just get burnt, inedible pizza that barely resembles the Benny's we once loved. read more

I was so disheartened by the service I got from the short, chubby waitress with the long hair at the front of Benny's. I was shocked considering I've been there before and never had a problem with any of their staff. I wish she knew how customer service worked. Oh well, onto the next basic pizza place. :( read more

Horrible experience! We were having a birthday party for our 6 year old son. We called the day before the party, and placed an order that was to be ready at 11:15am (they are supposed to open at 11:00am). We wanted to surprise our son with their humongous-sized pizza. We got to Lynchburg, and at first missed the restaurant completely, because there's basically no signage that you can see from the road. When we finally found where it was, there was absolutely no parking anywhere... so I hopped out of the car to pick up the pizza while my friend drove the car around the block. When I get to the front door, it's about 11:30am at this point, and there's a guy sitting out front. He says "we're not open yet." I explain that we had placed an advance order, and had birthday party guests waiting! He says sorry, I don't have a key, and I've called someone to come open up but they're not here yet. Needless to say... we cancelled our order!!! We had to call Pizza Hut up... which was probably better Pizza anyway. Pizza Hut saved the day by getting our order together quickly... but the hungry kids at the birthday party were definitely getting anxious! We will never go back to Benny's and are writing this review to warn anyone planning a party to get their pizza somewhere else! read more

Benny's is a whole different kind of restaurant. You don't necessarily go there for amazing pizza, you go there for the experience. The huge slices of pizza for dirt cheap, the huge variety of canned pops and drinks, the crazy art work on the wall, and the overall cool, underground pizza-joint vibe ( I feel like it's an underground place because you're not going to notice it no matter how many times you drive by). Go with a group and try to demolish a whole pie or take the challenge yourself and try to win 500 dollars. You'll love it because you'll always remember the experience. read more

Pizza was not good at all ,pretty overpriced , and when asked to please add more sauce on my slice , was told " Yeah , no problem! We got you " and when given my slice it was like there was no sauce at all. Upon complaining about the situation i was told that they had put extra sauce on the slice, but obviously did not, will probably not be coming back here, might as well go to lil ceasers and get a whole pizza that's actually more in quantity and better in quality vs paying $5 for a slice of cardboard. read more

Tried it for the first time tonight, it was ungodly slow. Ultimately I think they lost our order because it took 40 minutes for a slice of cheese and pepperoni. There were only a few other people in there and their orders seemed to come out in a more timely fashion. The girl who rang us up was in her own world and didn't seem to realize or care that we had been waiting that long. This is the best traditional pizza slice in Lynchburg. The only two places that even come close are a completely different, wood-fired style pie. Benny's is cheap, delicious, and fast. They have rotating specials every month, and a HUGE selection of affordable drinks and beer. read more

Food: Good pizza for its price, I wasn't expecting it to be extremely good or anything because it was so cheap but honestly it was really good! I mean it's a HUGE slice of pizza (you only need to order one slice for one person honestly). I like think drink options too! They have some cool root beer in fancy lil bottles if your there for the esthetic Price: Extremely good prices - cheap! My friends and I went here right when it opened and it was amazing. I'm always apprehensive when food is larger than normal because it tends to lose flavor, this was not the case. Fun quirky place with casual atmosphere. Looks like a little hole in the wall but it has a nice bar as well as booths and tables. Cold beer, soft drinks and water. Delicious HUGE slice of pizza for $4. $5 if you want meat. Lunch for two with waters was $11. Can't beat that! I'll be back. read more

Benny Scarpetta's is so close to being great, but its one failing leaves it wanting. The price is right, the cheese is perfect and the sauce is spot on. What more could you want? A great crust, that's what. I've always thought the most important element of a pizza is the crust, and the crust on Benny Scarpetta's pizza was too thick in places, too soft overall, and slightly underdone. I have been to several Bennys and have always enjoyed their pizza, including this one in Lynchburg. To say I was disappointed is an understatement: the slices were smaller than usual completely dried out and thinner than a cracker. Tasted way below par and definitely not worth the $4 per slice. My advice: throw out the old slices, and serve to the larger fresh ones slices your customers want and expect. read more
