Located off of Saddle River Road, this beloved neighborhood staple establishment enjoys high foot traffic among locals and visitors alike and is perfectly positioned in a busy commercial area of Fair Lawn known for its pastrami sandwiches and its hearty menu. For over 25 years, Benny's Luncheonette has offered an excellent opportunity, and my partner and I came for brunch as first-timers today. No reservations are allowed at this location, so it is first come, first served. Upon entering this cozy old-school diner vibe filled with old memorabilia of phonograph records and wall posters, we were greeted by the staff and able to get a booth along the right side of the restaurant where the aroma of great-smelling food just SMACKED one right in the face. The menu was extensive with good selections for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. We decided on the Grilled Cheese Turkey Bacon sandwich and a side of Home Fries as well as a Florentine Omelette. To my surprise, they had empanadas in chicken or beef, which I tried their beef. It was absolutely delicious, not greasy, as it was baked with a thin crust. Complimentary mini Chocolate Chip muffins started our meal. The rest of our food arrived hot and was tasty, fresh, and well-seasoned. Prices were very affordable, and the portions were generous. The service was amazing and attentive, and our server was Jamie. We really enjoyed this place. Our waiter was fantastic at his job. He was running around filling coffeee taking orders cleaning tables. Plus he was super nice. The biscuit with sausage gravy was what I have been craving for a long time. Hit the spot!! Cheesy grits were and the BLT were good, nothing special. Now the hash browns, which our server said we definitely have to try, were the best I've ever had. I'm normally not a fan of the smashed down ones because they normally don't cook them properly. I had a delicious lunch yesterday. My friend suggested we go, it is one of her favorite moring and afternoon informal restaurant. Portions are plentiful. Santiago, the manager, could not be any more congenial than he was. It's obvious people go there because he and server, Barbara are very upbea and attentive. Also, they offer second and third refills of their fresh coffee, and hope you accept. I'll be bringing friends there for an informal brunch or lunch! A nice diner-style breakfast/brunch/lunch place. Great place for brunch after a morning of shopping in Paramus. They have a very large selection of all your standard fare - omelets, sandwiches, benedicts, quesadillas, etc. It's also all very inexpensive. I had an omelet which is pretty decent. What I really liked about the place is that it is very kid friendly. They were attuned to the fact that we had small kids. They were nice to the kids and did not give us looks. I went to Benny's Luncheonette for lunch and ordered the California Benny. It included two poached eggs, bacon bits, tomato, and avocado over two English muffins with hash browns. It was tasty and a solid portion, but nothing too exceptional. The $14 was a fair price. The service speed was pretty quick and our waitress (who looked like the manager) was very friendly. The employees at this restaurant seem to be especially close to each other, almost as if they have a familial bond. Interestingly enough, Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance at Benny's this afternoon. I'm not sure if they work at the restaurant or at the North Pole, but they were friendly to the customers and were waving at cars passing by. Overall, Benny's Luncheonette is a very good choice for brunch with your family or friends. It can get a little busy during brunch hours on the weekends, though the special weekend brunch menu might make it worth the risk. read more

As good as it gets! This classic small storefront NJ luncheonette proves why NJ diners ROCK! And this place does, the walls adorned with classic rock and roll LPs, the staff attentive and friendly and the breakfast here was amazing. Rock n Roll! Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers, Beatles, Sgt. Peppers lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road, Elvis, Led Zeppelin II...all look like original issues (gasp!), lining the upper walls. Cozy booths, tin ceilings, stainless steel counter faces... it's like eating breakfast at a rock n roll museum! The western omelette never comes with American cheese, but I believe it's a match made in America, and Benny's obliged to a spectacular resulting omelette. The home fries looked delicious in other Yelpers photos, but my Diabetes forbids me from indulgence so I had them give me a small amount well done and they were amazing. Stopped in today as we were looking for somewhere to grab lunch. Saw the Pride flag at the door and without a doubt had to stop! Am I glad we did!!! We ordered to go. Mila and Monica were so incredibly pleasant and friendly. As was the gentleman making our meals. We ordered a steak and fries, quart of minestrone (also available in pint) and 2 large pastrami on rye sandwiches. WOW! The steak looks delicious but the sandwiches were HUGE!! I have gotten sandwiches this size but for more money! This was a great deal with slaw and a pickle and I will have leftovers for at least 2 days! Highly recommend stopping in. This place is just the best. There are a lot of Diners in New Jersey but Benny's is a notch above. We come here regularly with our 4 month old baby and the staff is just the sweetest. Everyone seems to stop and say hello whether they're a guest or employee. I never feel nervous to bring our baby because it's so welcoming. I think I've gotten the same thing every time which is the Benjamin. Somehow I demolish it... must be cuz it's so hard to eat with a baby at home that I go to town when we're out. I need to venture out of the breakfast category but sometimes you don't want to mess with a good thing.
