Alfred and his crew were true professionals! Alfred came to our home and provided in depth suggestions on how he would place path lights, up lights and down lighting for our front yard. He had several suggestions on how to layout the landscape lighting to maximize exposure and really light up our home. An hour or so later, after agreeing on a layout, his estimate and proposal came thru in an email. His price was reasonable and the quality of the lighting equipment (brass components) was nice! About a week later, Alfred, Felipe and his team came out to our home and began the installation process. They removed all of the old & outdated lighting and wire cables. They set up the new lighting fixtures and all new wiring as planned. In less than 4 hours the job was complete! We couldn't be happier with our front landscape lighting and the job that Alfred & his crew did! I apologize for this very late review. My excellent service was on November 24, 2021, the day before Thanksgiving. I spoke to Angie (such a friendly voice) and explained my concerns regarding my sprinkler system. I just had re-piping done earlier that month and noticed the lack of water pressure. Alfred arrived on time and was able to solve my issues. He told me to call the re-piping company and have them separate the water line from the home and landscaping. After the plumbing company resolved the major water pressure issue, Alfred returned to schedule a date to replace my inadequate sprinkler system. Then the day before Thanksgiving, Felipe and his large crew worked hard all day and return the day after Thanksgiving to finish the job! After the work was finished each day, everything was kept neat and clean. Felipe assisted me on my landscaping issues. He suggested relocating both the lime tree and fig tree to a sunnier area in the backyard. Felipe also installed an underground drip system and added mulch to the entire yard. He also suggested some plants that would attract pollinators to my garden! As a follow-up, Alfred even sent a crew out several times after the original installation to fix a couple of minor issues. I am a skeptical service purchaser and choosing a firm to convert my outside lighting from a 120V to low voltage system was difficult and time consuming. My first loyalty was to my 120V system given my buried investment and very difficult physical work around requirements. To be clear, I did not want to abandon my existing system. My lighting challenges are substantial requiring innovative approaches and careful attention to detail along with avoiding damage to existing brick and stone structures. I don't know how they are on lighting but I called them out for a sprinkler irrigation issue. Water was filling up in the irrigation shutoff box, and we didn't know where it was coming from. Alfred came out - we talked about other things too like installing a drip system on one side of the house instead of sprinkler. When I got the written estimate, he did not include some things we talked about, and this was the estimate: Troubleshoot water leak at valve manifold and ball valve. Replace ball valve - relocate. Remove flagstone at ball valve. Replace slope valve. $1800 I interviewed several more people. After lots of jokester diagnoses and solutions - none of these guys would have addressed the actual problem - I got a friend to break up the flagstone and dig up where the shutoff valve was. He found 2 leaks in the sprinkler pipes. I got them repaired for $200, probably would be up to $350 if it weren't for a friend doing it. The plastic pipes and parts cost a few dollars each. So in the end, my handyman friend solved the problem, none of the sprinkler companies did, including Pacific Lighting & Sprinklers. Kind of scary how much companies are willing to take advantage of customers these days, even when you get them as a recommendation. read more

We set out to have some sprinkler lines fixed/reworked but working with Alfred was so easy and his ideas really lit up our imagination (literally) about what to do with our property. After a couple of quick on site visits we had a plan that we were comfortable with and moved forward. All questions were answered and they were always responsive when we needed more info for the HOA folks. The actual job consisted of removing existing plants - front and back, running new drip lines, and planting a great mix of tropical and CA native plant material. The owner came for a free estimate, but refused to answer any question and emphasized on many occasions that this was a " free estimate ". I reached out to Pacific Lighting and Sprinklers, because I noticed weeds growing and dampness in a particular area near a sprinkler line in the back. They were very responsive and able to schedule a same day appointment as there had been another customer cancellation. Alfred came out to take a look and confirmed that there was indeed a leak. To my embarrassment however, he explained to me that this valve actually could remain shut off, since it was not connected to the front sprinklers (when I had mistakenly though it was). He advised that we could just leave it off and deprogram the back sprinklers until we were ready to get that pipe replaced and the back redone, as we only recently had just the front yard redone with new sprinklers. Alfred was very honest and kind, even though it was a pretty simple call and there was nothing for them to fix. Based on that interaction alone, I'm very grateful to Pacific Lighting and Sprinklers, and would trust their judgement in the future too. Multiple red flags. 1. Offered to do landscape and lighting and then found that they wouldn't do landscape work. 2. Wouldn't honor quote for services, 3. lighting fixtures are off brand with warranty through Pacific Lighting, 4. Wouldn't offer a specific lighting scope. 5. Require an "upfront deposit" for work. We had tried to hire PLS for landscape lighting. Met with Alfred and then Felipe. We received a very general scope of work and a price. When we tried to get them to do the work we found that they wouldn't honor the quote. read more

As the Stay at Home order is in effect, we have been spending a lot of time in our backyard - and the beauty of the yard reminded me that I owe a 5+ Star review to Alfred, Felipe and everyone involved with this exceptional company. A few years back all of our outdoor lighting had rotted, shorted out or just gave up all together - and for those of you who live in the canyon - you know just how dark it can get out here. They use only the best fixtures, which at first seemed pricey to me, but they last forever and age beautifully - so much better than the home improvement store varieties. They know where to put the lights to not only make your home more beautiful, but safer, as well. They lit the pool and entertainment areas with such subtle beauty - neither too overwhelming, nor too dim. After enjoying the lighting for a year or two, I realized that all of our drains were clogged and during particularly heavy rains, water was pooling against the house. Called Felipe, and he and Alfred came out and walked the yard with me and again, came up with a plan. They dug up and cleared every drain, helped me with landscaping, made additions and adjustments to the old sprinkler system, and installed all new sod. For lighting and irrigation, this is the company you want. I had both done and could not be more pleased. After thinking about lights for years I made a call. The next day Felipe showed up, walked the property and listened to what I wanted to achieve. I did the same for sprinkler work I needed. We talked and he said he would send an estimate after he got to his office and could work on it. Which he did. The price made sense and a start date was set. Two crews showed up on the promised date were very competent and courteous. The work was completed in slightly less time than Felipe estimated. The sprinklers worked perfectly and it was a challenging installation. When It got dark the entire property looked so much better than I ever imagined because of the lighting. I asked for some additional sprinkler work a couple days later and it was done quickly and reasonably. The lighting crews returned a few days later saying Felipe wanted to add a few lights. I didn't think it could look better but it did. Felipe told me several times that if I had any questions, had issues or anything just call and he would send someone over. We first worked with them last summer (Aug 2018) on a large problem related to drainage, pooling water, and non-functioning sprinklers. First the basics - they respond on time, follow up and show up. They are nice to work with, listen, are open to what we needed and had good suggestions.
