Great happy hour! All wine was $2 off, and there were select appetizers for $5. My friend and I split the buffalo chicken wrap, which was HUGE and an insane deal for the price. It was actually two wraps cut in half! We also got the pinconning fondue, which was actually just soft pretzels with a cheese dip and a mustard dip. Both were very good though. My rating is actually 4.5 stars. The ambiance is warm, especially the seating near the bar area. I've had about 6 lunches (for business) and at least 6 dinners over the course of the past two years. The food is very consistent, as is the service. We enjoy the variety on the menu as well as the extensive draft beer list. We'll be back. read more

We came here because it offered some gluten free options. It is close to our home so we thought we would try. We tried the gluten free calamari and did not like it at all. We told our waitress and she said it's better not gluten free. So they have gluten free they just take out the gluten and do nothing to improve the taste? Our other food was not impressive either. Ambience is not one to have a quiet dinner conversation. Parking is not easy, although they offer valet. Prices I think are average. I will not be going back. read more

My wife and I went to Benstien Grill last night 4/25/2019 and ordered the Margarita Flatbread Pizza. That was the worst Pizza I ever ate. There was no taste to it at all. It looked like they cooked the dough then added the thick slices of tomatoes, basil, olive oil then gave it to us. The thick tomatoes were still cold. Absolutely a very well kept secret. Just moved to this area and found The Benstein Grille. We were greeted and introduced to Mike one of the owners. What a classy place. Great service, great food, and a great atmosphere. The menu and bar are spectacular. I've been there three times now as my move continues into this community and this place will definitely be one of my hone bases! Went there and the food was good. Went to pay and that's where the problem started. They had signs that say pay at the table so we do. Server said well we have no way of knowing if it went through because the computers are down. I check on online banking and it already posted. So we show that we did pay the bill and the server says we'll we need to write down your credit card number. Tell the server there is no way I'm letting someone write down the numbers but I'll give you my phone number if there is a problem. Then we ask to speak to the manager. She says he's too busy. So get up and say loudly this will be the last time I eat here. The manager now has time and says "because our computer is down, your stupid". Tell him no because the charge posted and you want to write down peoples credit card numbers which I hope nobody does. He starts running his mouth again and we left. If you want to be double charged and horrible service I highly recommend. If you only want to pay for what you ordered I would go somewhere else.. read more

Hubby and I tried this resteraunt for first time last night. We had a good time. The pear martini was amazing. Husband said his old fashion was spot on. He got a good corn beef sandwich which he devoured. I had a chicken cordon blue stack. I was amazed at how well they accomplished this dish. Chicken was great flavored. Green beans was one of the better prepared I've had, and mash potatoes were great. The blue cheese spread was perfect. Hubby wanted a gallon to bring home lol. This is hands down the best restaurant in this area. The decor is beautiful, the staff is great and the food has never disappointed. The ribeye is my go to, it is amazing, super flavorful, and tender. Their burgers/fries are also a great option. The BBQ flat bread is an awesome starter along with the fondue. They have a very good beer, wine, and cocktail selection. But what I appreciate most of all is that the owner is there almost all the time. He walks around and makes sure everything is OK and if it isn't he has no issue with fixing it right away. You can tell he really cares that your dining experience is the best it can be. This place is far better than any other restaurant in walled lake. We don't even bother going anywhere else for dinner around here anymore. read more

Dined there one time and enjoyed the food and atmosphere other than the noise. Between the music and high ceilings you cannot hear the person next to you which is why many people never returned to the previous establishment in that location. If they can fix that, they have a winner. Neighborhood is lacking of a restaurant to socialize at and this could be it if we could hear each other. We heard this same comment from several friends and neighbors as well. That being said, the menu looks great and the food we had was very good. Service was excellent but the wine prices were a bit high by the glass. Need a wider selection of $7 glasses of wine. Also bottled beer choices were somewhat limited. read more

This is the slappiest cuisine I've ever ate so good it was phenomenal my pants dropped as soon as I put that meat in my mouth when I inserted the sandwich into my mouth my rig was instantly veiny and erect. The food is overpriced and poor quality. We've gone here several times and not only did the kitchen take forever, but we had to send our food back because it was cold in the center. The staff doesn't seem to know much about whats going on. We tried to order a carry out and after talking to two separate people they couldn't seem to grasp what was going on. Excellent food by far. We had a birthday group (8) and unfortunately we had the same waitress we had about six months ago who is a wreck. She is very disorganized and distracted. I mentioned my concerns about her when we were there about 5 months ago, and management was aware of who I was referring to without even knowing her name. And, she's still there, struggling the very same. Four of the people in our group had never been there, and also loved the food, but the service was unacceptable. Not sure they'll be back - or us for that matter. Can't even mention all the things that weren't right, no need at this point. Visited for the first time for a quick late lunch a few weeks ago, and we had a great experience! Service was great, wish I could remember our server but I can't but she was very attentive and pleasant . The burger and Rueben were both delicious! I love Benstein Grille for a number of reasons, but most of all the menu appeals to me and it's very close to home.; however, we find they tend to have some trouble with consistency/execution on what may be considered more "high-end" dishes. They have also removed some items from the menu that were among my favorites, so that stings a bit. One of my remaining favorites is the Bronzed Salmon - usually they get it perfect, but there's been a time or two where it just wasn't prepared correctly. There's been some imbalance on the veggie sides. There have been times I've received all carrots, and most recently, I got way more green beans than carrots, which doesn't really bother me, but the veggies are almost always undercooked. My husband loves the Tenderloin Sandwich, but when he's ordered the lamb chops, the temp was way off from what he requested (overcooked). I know takeout can introduce a number of issues that you may not encounter during a dine-in experience, but we live right down the street, so it's not an excuse for us. We've also found that with takeout the food isn't always ready when promised. A little more focus on quality control and I'd be happy to bump review up to 5 stars in the future. We're looking forward to dining in again once all restrictions are lifted. read more

Very impressive, especially for a brand new place! The atmosphere and decor were pleasant - not to mention clever (look for the Ben/Stein wall!). It has a cozy, comfortable feel without being too crowded or too dark (it was a beautiful day, and the natural light through the windows was nice). We arrived during the weekend dinner rush, and service was very fast without feeling rushed. I've seen new establishments take a while to work out the kinks in this regard, but our waitress was attentive and our drinks, apps, and meals were brought out quickly. I have a couple of picky eaters in the family, and every request was handled pleasantly and correctly. My wife and kids all raved about their burgers. I had the club sandwich. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's among the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was very fresh and flavorful. The turkey was freshly sliced and the bacon was thick cut and crispy. My favorite part , however, was the aioli/mayo. It had a subtle olive flavorwhich brought the whole thing together beautifully. Maybe I'm going a bit overboard describing a "mere" club sandwich, but it was really that good! The rest of the menu looked great, but I'll be back just for the club! Bar service was similarly prompt and pleasant. We sampled a couple deserts, and the chocolate lava cake was a hit at our table. The berries served with it are a nice touch. We are very happy to have a great new (non-chain!) family dining spot in the area - serving real food, above and beyond the typical diner fare found so many other places. And it's s so close to home which is awesome considering there's not too much to choose from in Commerce. From the moment we arrived we received nothing but excellent customer service. We went as a group of six very hungry guys and our first impression was it looked cool and smelled good. Started with a good bread appetizer and then went straight downhill from there. Three got burgers and they all agreed it was one of the absolute burgers they've ever had. The other dishes we got ranged from the lobster mac and cheese to the crusted fish. They were average at best. Worst of all? Everything was overpriced which just amplified our bad food. I truly don't know how this place got good reviews. It was so bad that we actually started laughing hysterically to the point we had tears in our eyes. Please take my advice and avoid this place. read more
