For my last meal in Indiana I decided on a sushi lunch. I was about 10 minutes from Bento Cafe and decided to try it. I loved it. I arrived a little after 4pm so I missed the lunch specials but I got the dinner box. The dinner box included miso soup, sesame shrimp, California roll, crab Rangoon, veggie spring roll, some sort of dumpling and fried rice for $15. Everything was delicious. I've eaten here many times in the past and the food is delicious. The specialty rolls are a decent size and leave us feeling full. The ambiance is enjoyable with blue lighting above and the interior design is different from most Japanese restaurants. It has a more "sophisticated" feel to it based off the interesting decor hanging from the ceiling and lighting. The host is always kind and quick to address our party whenever we eat here (which is often) and the wait staff are very attentive. Without having to ask, they will always make their rounds filling our water and if we ordered a different beverage, they will make sure we receive a refill of the same one. We decided to eat out yesterday as we weren't feeling up to the task of making dinner. When we arrived, the front waiting area was heavily crowded as many other customers were waiting to be seated. They were busy which we weren't surprised considering it was a Friday night. The only downside to the place is the lack of space for parties waiting to be seated. There are only two chairs available by the doors and we ended up packed together by the doors like sardines. It didn't help that the weather yesterday was cold and windy, so every time someone would open the door we all would be blasted with the frigid air and those waiting in front of the doors would have to move even closer to those against the dividing wall. It was not enjoyable for anyone up there as the lack of space became worse when other customers would be leaving. Hopefully we can see a solution for the waiting area, but this is still a great place to eat out at! read more

Scrumptious! Everything was delicious and BEAUTIFUL! My kiddo has grown up trying out different things and has come to simply love sushi and most Asian food. This place has been on my mind to try since they opened. I only wish I hadn't waited so long. This was to celebrate a special occasion with just the two of us. We started with the spicy tuna avocado appetizer which whetted our appetite for more Asian cuisine. We selected the "sushi bento boxes" for our entrees... one shrimp tempura roll box, and a dynamite roll box. These boxes include gyoza, California rolls, rangoon and spring rolls, plus the entree. It's simply delightful to see beautiful food .... ....but the best part is how it tastes. This is quite an experience. (The dynamite roll includes salmon, asparagus, and crab ... the special sauce is really what makes it dyn-o-mite!) Don't wait like I did, go there today. This was a nice find this restaurant in Fishers. It was busy when I visited; several tables were getting sushi boats; they looked great. It struck as to how clean it was. Staff appeared that is very organized. I started with the soup and really enjoyed it. I loved the Kani salad. I'm not sure if it was real or imitation crab and not sure that I care, it was very good. I then had tuna(nigiri) and octopus(sashimi), I forgot to take a picture before I started eating it. I like having a quality sushi restaurant nearby. I will be back. read more

The place was crowded for dinner on a Wednesday night so was hoping it would be good. Waitress was friendly and good, food came out fast. Ice tea was weak I could see right through it almost clear like water. Egg drop soup was clear thick soup no taste and nice swirled egg so ok, salad was ok as well. Ordered 2 sushi rolls they looked amazing and huge, taste was just ok but one had asparagus that was too thick to chew so ruined the bits of that sushi. All three of us couldn't figure out the smell of sweaty dirty socks when our bento dinners arrived. We narrowed it down to the veggies that were in all of our main dishes all different, one teriyaki chicken, seafood mix and the other Thai basil shrimp, none of us ate the main dish. California rolls were microscopic just rice and seaweed wrap basically, Goya was ok we asked for veggie kind of mushy inside. Eggroll/spring roll we asked, she said was veggie but ours clearly had chicken chunks in it. Rangoon looked ok but not fresh my daughter said, fried rice was basic so ok to eat. It was just so hard to eat anything when the smell was so strong and offensive to eat anything so we will not be coming back here, we just hope we don't get food poisoning later. read more

Please don't go here if you're looking for authentic Asian food. This is an Asian fusion place that caters to non-Asians. I ordered the Red Curry Tofu Bento. First of all, the definition of curry is: "a dish of meat, vegetables, etc., cooked in an Indian-style sauce of hot-tasting spices and typically served with rice." Usually, curry is swimming in sauce, as in proper Indian, Thai, Japanese and Malaysian cuisine. They straight up stir fried the vegetables and covered it in a cold (curries are supposed to be warm/hot) sauce so that it just tasted like stir-fried vegetables drenched in spicy mayo. Also, the menu said to "eat with caution," but the spice in the dish was non-existent. Must be for the clientele they cater to, which is fine... Maybe it's my fault that I ordered something not "Japanese" (Japanese also have golden curries, like S&B or Vermont Style) but why have something on the menu if you can't do it properly? My husband ordered the salmon bento and was not impressed with his bento either. While the service was okay, and the server offered me a replacement, I rejected the offer. This may be okay for some people, but this is definitely fake Asian food, or Asian food for the non-Asians. My husband and I are definitely not going back. read more

I'm always on a mission for great sushi. Today for lunch I stopped by Bento Cafe. Of course the atmosphere and service was pleasant. I ordered the Oh My God Roll and Crab Rangoon. Neither of them were absolutely amazing but they weren't bad. The crab Rangoon was a little too sweet for me and dipping it in the sauce made it even sweeter. I actually preferred dipping it into soy sauce. The roll was absolutely gorgeous. It came out beautifully but the taste didn't wow me. The Masago on top of the roll was a bit fishy for me. Bento Café is one of my favourite sushi/Asian fusion places. Their menu is extensive, their fish is always fresh and everything I have ever tried has been absolutely delicious! My coworkers and I stopped by for lunch and were not disappointed! We started with miso and wonton soups. It was the first time I ever got a wonton soup and boy was it delicious! I cannot believe how flavourful it was. I will definitely order it again. We also ordered five (gourmet) sushi rolls for the three of us and I cannot pick one as my favourite. We ordered the Sex on the Beach, Sexy Girl, Sesame Crusted Tuna, Dancing Dragon and Fancy Mango rolls. They were delicious and so fresh, I could have eaten at least two more. The service was great; our server was timely and communicative. We came in right at lunch time on a Friday and had no issued with seating or getting our order out on time. For instance, it might say garlic sauce but when you get the dish it's a basic teriyaki sauce that seems to be on everything. The mushrooms were canned. The fried rice was not fried and had no flavor, the california roll tasted like grocery store sushi, the spring roll and cream cheese wonton are straight from Gordon's food supply frozen section. And the kicker, hand to God, the absolute worst miso soup I've ever had in my life, probably from a cheap quick-mix packet. I believe they cut every corner possible. No love whatsoever in the food. My husband and I have been here two times in the past week. The first time that we ate at Bento Cafe, we split two of the sushi roll specials. We ordered the Beauty and the Beast and the Sex on the Beach rolls. Both rolls tasted terrific, and I was blown away by the presentation. I especially liked the honey wasabi sauce on the Beauty and the Beast roll. My husband felt like he missed out on getting a Bento Box during our first visit, so that is why he wanted to go back again so soon. The second time that we went to the restaurant, I had Egg Drop Soup and the Spicy Tuna Avocado Appetizer. The Spicy Tuna Avocado appetizer was nothing like I expected, and the waiter asked right away if I had ordered that meal before. The Spicy Tuna Avocado is spicy tuna, inside of the avocado, over a bed of lettuce with mango sauce on top. Another fun presentation! My husband ordered the Red Curry Bento Box. He enjoyed all the variety the Bento Box had to offer. I think this restaurant has fantastic food and an excellent price point, so I would highly recommend you check it out. read more

I've lived in Fishers for six years and driven by the places hundreds of times. I'm not sure why I've never eaten here before! The glowing reviews I read prior stopping in lived up to their expectations. I ate here for dinner and order the hibachi chicken bento box. I will reiterate previous reviews--so much for yet so inexpensive. ($11 for my meal.) I was able to take it for lunch the next day. The ginger salads are my favorite at any sushi spot and this was no different. The California roll was my least favorite part. I love Cali rolls but the Avocado in it was soft and warm, so I could have done without that. The hibachi was good as was the fried rice. We love Bentos. Food is always delicious. My favorite sushi is the Manhattan roll. Both dine in and take out either way is always perfect.

I had been here once before to get take out and I remember it no being bad. We went to pick some food up this time and decided to stay to eat because it did not look like there were many people. First, let's start where they sat us; right next to the line of traffic for the kitchen and the pick up orders. Before our hot food came out the entire restaurant was packed with no social distancing what so ever. The food was okay, their bubble teas are watery and the boba bubbles are quite mushy in texture. Overall I would not recommend this place as they did not practice ANY type of social distancing at all. Customers have to wear masks walking in, but when they sit down all masks are off. (For me a full dinning room where only the staff is wearing masks is a bit unnerving during this time period.) The food was just okay. I wish I could say something better as our server was not bad at all, just everything else is just not worth the time or money. Here's to hoping things change for the better. :) read more

I stopped in for lunch one day. Great value here. You can get 3 rolls at lunch without breaking the bank. The quality of the sushi isn't as high as some places I have been but it is still good. Service was fast and attentive as you would hope for a lunch destination. The miso soup was as good as any I have had, however. I would definitely consider stopping again if I was out looking for a quick lunch but would probably not make this a destination for dinner. read more
