This used to be my favorite sushi place and I was hesitant when I went in this week and saw new owners. Sadly, my fears were confirmed. It was busy, but still, no one greeted me when I walked in or paid much attention when I sat. Eventually, I got up to grab a menu when one wasn't offered. My friends arrived and we waited a good 10 minutes before anyone came by to take our order. The lady who took our order was not friendly. Our food took awhile, but they were busy. Then I was even more surprised, because they brought our orders on two sushi boats, but not separated out between us. So we were awkwardly eating around each other. I eventually got up to request small plates and dipping bowls. My philly roll was good, but the avocado rolls are tiny now, with the seaweed on the outside, which isn't how they used to come. Then, she gave us our bill and someone else's too and seemed irritated when I mentioned it wasn't ours. I'm giving 3 stars because our food was mostly good, if smaller portioned and poorly presented, but the service was sorely lacking. OH my goodness, if I cussed I'd say this place is !@#*$%^ delicious! But I don't cuss. We got a gift certificate for Christmas, and was like...WHAT?!?! I've never heard of this place, and honestly was a little leery. But MAN OH MAN after (and while) eating there was so I happy we got it. Yum, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Wow is all I can say huge sushi rolls with no flavor. Made mistake of fried cali roll and calamari both tasted like the same old used oil. Philly was over powering with smoke flavor. Super disappointing. This place has gone downhill since I used to frequent this place a year ago. My noodles were very limp...limp anything is gross. If you've ever dared to eat sushi from Safeway, you'd still think that was better than the three rolls we ordered here. Definitely would not recommend this place what so ever! Very unhappy with the rude employees, was not happy with the food. Asked to change something and was told to bad deal with it. First time here. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had the Texas roll, Godzilla roll, and the Rock & Roll. My fav was the Rock & Roll. I've been here at least ten times, and have never been disappointed. I've only ever had sushi and soup so I can't speak to the rest of their menu, but they've got good prices and friendly staff. So after I've tried this place out a couple times in the last few months or so I've grown to love it. I have been waitressing for 3 years at a sushi restaurant, Ichiban downtown so I KINDA know a little about sushi. A little. There is a lovely lady and a gentleman with glasses who are always greeting me with warm smiles. I guess i heard they have new owners. That must be why i am writing/updating my reveiw from a year or so ago. They have great service. The food is ALWAYS great. I have come to love this place. I usually get their sashimi. Salmon, snapper, mackeral ect. No rice. My friend will get the deep fried Philadelphia rolls I think they are. She loves them. There spicy Muscles are great too! In my opinion they are not to cheap but they are not to spendy. I never regret over indulging myself and I dont look at the prices. I just order. Great sushi, huge portions, low price. Not an artsy sushi place, but very friendly owners who serve fresh fish in large portions atop small balls of rice (check under the fish for the sneaky ninja wasabi). Their other fare is very tasty and fresh as well. The katsu-don is very good. And they have a decent selection of bento boxes if that is your thing. Beer, wine and sake if you want it. And did I mention the size of the the rolls and sashimi? Dinner time gets busy so be patient and you will be well satisfied. read more

Tried it twice. Should have known better after the first time. I ordered Salmon teriyaki as part of the deluxe bento special. There were four pieces of thinly sliced, very dry and over cooked salmon. They must have used an eye dropper to apply the teriyaki sauce since it was barely enough to cover one piece. It wasn't very crowded when we went there, but it still took a very long time for the food and i was disappointed when it finally arrived. We barely ate more than a few bites. We've been here once about 2 years ago. I liked the food, but my husband's funny... he will not let us return to this place because of how mean the lady who served us was to our 2 year old. She sat us at the table where there were a lot of doll figurines. My daughter took one and just placed it on the table. She wasn't playing with it.. she just placed it on the table. The lady came by and just took the figurine and put it back without saying a word. You put a 2 year old in front of all these doll looking figurines.. what would you expect they do?! There were a lot of other tables where she could have put us that didn't have any figurines. Tried the spicy special: Jalapeno bomb! Was delicious and the perfect amount of spicy. Bento boxes are perfect size. Everything I have tried has been good. I like the variety. Fair prices. Ok service. Too bad the sodas are in cans and the price is a little high for them. Will be back. read more

I have been going their for 9 years now, but since the ownership change I have started to noticed subtle changes in the rolls getting smaller and less toppings. Great sized portions and super affordable pricing. One of, if not the best sushi spot in Gresham with the Rock n Roll and Raiders rolls both taking the cake! Staff is not very attentive and the location is small but the food is good. The atmosphere is very relaxed, not quite a susi buffet/round about but relaxed. Look to the wall for specials, they are not listed on the menu. I mostly order rolls so I cannot speak to their entres. read more

I was craving sushi but was on a time crunch so I ordered pick up from here. I was not impressed. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, inari, and miso soup. Miso soup was okay, spicy tuna was eh... It was kinda poorly made. The gross part was the inari. I don't think inari is supposed to smell sour and rotten. I don't know if it was the vinegar they soaked it in or what but it smelled like it sat in overly warm temperatures for hours. And it tasted exactly how it smelled... So disgusting that I couldn't finish the rest of my food. I know I didn't pay a ton, but still. They easily could have done better. Honestly one of the best sushi places around. Small little place but the food is to die for. Prices seem fair and portions are pretty good. I love the sushi rolls but they have some sort of food for everyone. I would recommend it as a must go to anyone in the area. And if you go, ask for onomatopoeia. Lol. Great waitress.
