I always get the stir fry green beans (might not be the actual name on the menu but ask your waiter, and he will know) whenever I come here. Those green beans probably make up about 4.5 of the 5 stars from this review. The dim sum is fabulous and the variety rivals the dim sum spots in Chicago! Obviously the price is not cheap, but you're paying for authentic Chinese flavors and a lovely decor. #SupportAsianBusinesses read more

I have tried this place twice now. Once in their previous location and once in the new one. I honestly don't get the hype, because I have had two awful experiences. First, the food is just okay. I've tried about 20 things from their menu now and nothing blew me away. Next, the service is awful! I think they may be short staffed, but I think that should be communicated. I went with friends and we were there for 3 hours! It was just way too long. My friends' kids had to wait for over an hour for their food. I really wanted to give this place some love, but I just can't. I hope your experience is a better one. read more

This was some of the best Chinese food I've ever had! The dim sum was good but the real stars were the Cantonese sweet and sour pork and the House special pan fried noodle. Both amazing and has to be the best Chinese food in Indiana! Highly recommend if you enjoy authentic Chinese food not American Chinese this is the place!!!! You will not be disappointed! Going back very soon the try the pork belly, beef chow fun, and Chan Siu pork! The staff is very friendly and helpful. A wonderful dining experience! We had a lovely dinner here. They are understaffed, but I feel like I can't really complain about that when most of the restaurants seem that way these days. I'm posting for one reason - to tell you to order the golden cream steamed buns. The best way I can describe them is Chinese Twinkies. Think of everything you love in a Twinkie and in a steamed bun, married together with a rich, sweet golden cream center. It's heaven on a plate. My goal is to get everyone to order these so they are never taken off the menu. It's such a perfect little dessert. read more

My husband and I stopped in at 12:00 on a Sunday for lunch and it was quite chaotic. Our server, Brock, was AMAZING. But the establishment as a whole was lacking. There was a line out the door the majority of the time we were there despite many many tables open. We wanted to order dim sum but they said the kitchen was extremely backed up so cautioned the wait time. We ended up splitting the house special udon noodles which was pretty good but the meats were quite rubbery. Overall not the best experience I hate to say. read more

Benyue is always an excellent meal. The menu is lovingly curated with so many great options for dim sum and authentic regional Chinese dishes. It's a 'wowser' experience for dim sum. To maximize the experience of multiple selections, three is the perfect number as each plate comes with 3-4 items. Luvin' the curried cuttlefish, various shu mai/gyoza dumplings and the 'just sweet enough' chestnut cakes. Not busy at lunch on a Tuesday but works for three longtime '70 something' friends of 50+ years. A Sapporo or two to wash it all down & we were merrily on our way. read more

I can't believe I haven't gone to Benyue since it opened. My boyfriend and I tried it out for the first time today since we wanted to start a new holiday tradition. We settled on Chinese and saw that Benyue was opened on IG. When we walked in, restaurant was huge and super clean. With the holiday, they were short staffed but that actually did not take away from still receiving amazing service. We got the steamed dumplings and spring rolls to start, both were delicious. We then order the General Tso's chicken, Veggie Fried Rice, and the Chinese Broccoli Beef. When I tell you this is the best Chinese food I have had, I am not kidding. You could taste the authenticity within the food. It was flavorful and light. The owner even came to chat with us and since we told her it was our first time she got us a dessert on the house. We will absolutely be returning to Benyue and I hope to always see my new friend there! read more

A spacious Chinese restaurant located at the castleton mall. Came here on a corporate event for Chinese new year lunch. This is my second visit and it was much better than the first. Flavors seem to be more northern Chinese with lots of use of chilis. It wasn't too spicy for me, but some Caucasian started to sweat. read more

We came on a Monday shortly after they opened so it was not busy. Very clean, spacious and nice decor. Booths were comfortable. We were promptly greeted, seated and drinks came right out. We only had dim sum so can't comment on the rest of the menu. They didn't have egg tarts since that is a weekend special. But plenty of other wonderful choices! Everything we had came out hot, fresh and was delicious. We look forward to a future visit. read more

The dim sum was quite good with a decent selection of the more common varieties. We enjoyed a selection of six items, shrimp dumplings (cheung fun), fried stuffed taro balls (wu gok), beef tendons, curried squid, sticky rice, and braised pork spare ribs. All were excellent. Service was a tad slow but adequate. We will definitely come again, and maybe try the dinner menu next time. read more

Stopped by on Christmas Day for a nice dinner since we were stuck in town unexpectedly. Service was amazing and food was even better! Ordered steamed dumplings, beef short ribs, shrimp siu mai, and scallion pancakes from the dim sum menu. The beef short ribs were our favorite part. We also ordered pork char siu fried rice and a half roasted duck. (We wanted to be sure to have leftovers.) Everything was amazing, fresh, and well seasoned. The only minus is the beer/liquor license is still pending, so I wasn't able to get any wine with dinner. But that will be in place soon! I'll be back for sure! read more

My brother and sister in law had never had dim sum before and had lots of questions. The server was very helpful with describing the menu to us/helping us out. Nothing like it here in Indianapolis. Formerly known as Taste @ Lucky Lou on the West Side now is in Castleton ! The same great menu but food tastes even fresher and the restaurant itself is beautiful, shiny and bright. There is an outdoor patio so in the summer months it should be wonderful. Also looks like they have a full bar now but I'm not sure. Just found out it's beer and wine only. read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for months and we finally did one Friday night. I'm so glad to say it did not disappoint! My first piece of advice is to come starving - prep like you do for thanksgiving dinner by limiting what you eat all day - you will over order I am certain of it. Next, give yourself plenty of time. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because service was very very slow once food was delivered. We were finished for nearly 25 minutes before we caught someone to ask kindly for our check. That said, the food is epic. Our favorite dish of the night believe it or not was the garlic stir fried bok choy. I slid in a green veggie alongside our dumplings for balance and we ended up clearing the whole dish. I recommend this, the pork belly, and the steamed buns. We did not overly enjoy the dumplings and or scallion pancake. Our peppercorn chicken was very tasty but could be outside of some people's comfort zones. We have already talked about what we'd order the next time we are back! read more

This restaurant, nestled next to Castleton Square Mall, is not to be confused with a Panda Palace. The dim sum is made in house and the duck was among the best we've had in Indiana. We were super excited Lucky Lou relocated closer to northside but the quality/ price hike was disappointing. While the restaurant is now more modern, they have lost the comfort and authenticity. Instead of using traditional carts, you order from a menu now. The food didn't come out hot, wasn't fresh, and the quality has clearly changed. The Hubs and I had an amazing holiday trip to California to visit my dad. While there, we got to spend a day in San Francisco. I wanted my husband to experience a traditional dim sum, but alas, they don't exist anymore. We did have some amazing food, but not dim sum. Back in Indy, I decided to see if there were dim sum spots and found this gem. We went on a Friday around 5p and the place was pretty empty so the staff was attentive. Great servers, excruciating wait time (we got 5 dim sum items and it took 1.5hrs for 4...gave up on the last one). Prices are expensive for dim sum too, but there's no competition so it is what it is. The quality of food did not match the price at all. If you're looking for a more authentic dim sum experience/atmosphere, this is definitely not it. But it will satisfy any very urgent cravings when you can't make it to Chicago (#TeamMinghin). read more

It's pretty much the same old menu, In fact, 1 sheet of the menu is the old dim sum menu. 3 of us ordered 3 items, favorites fro the old menu. 2 arrived wrong. 1 arrived cold, and sent it back. Bloomington has some excellent Sichuan food, which is the primary Chinese cuisine in town, so when I saw Oasis' extensive menu with a number of spicy dishes listed I got excited and assumed they were Sichuan too. Mistake #1. Mistake #2: Their dinner plates are $8.50, so when I ordered Sichuan shrimp, I should have guessed based on the price that the serving would have only 5 medium sized shrimp. And as I placed my shrimp order I asked if it has any vegetables, and the server pointed me to the veggie dish section. Assuming the shrimp came on its own I ordered a broccoli in garlic sauce ($6.50). Both dishes finally came in identical plates, with the shrimp served with broccoli as well. Like you could tell me that the shrimp came with veggies so I wouldn't order this abundance of broccoli? But she made me order an extra dish with the SAME sauce? These would have been forgiven were it not for the appalling sauce, which resembles the goopy brown cornflour-dumped ketchup-like abomination that passes for everything from General Tso's to "Sichuan" to garlic sauce. I abhor "American Chinese" food loaded in sugar, so I'm unreasonably upset. There was NO difference between my "Sichuan" dish and my "garlic sauce" dish barring a few measly shrimp. And the same sauce has NO heat or spice; an anticlimax considering I was expecting a dish loaded with numbing Sichuan peppercorn and whole chillies. I realized after I was almost done with my meal that the people in the table across me had a different menu with pictures -- and that they were ordering food clearly not on my menu. Well, they stuck me with the American Chinese menu and it sucks. I was very disappointed with my meal. Will not bother coming here again.

They have lunch specials for a good price but you can order anything off the menu all day. I got the vegetable delight lunch special which came with my choice of soup, an egg roll, rice and the veggies in a sweet sauce. Not knowing much about Chinese food I might try for something more 'exotic' next time but this was flavorful and filling. The egg drop soup was a bit thick for me, but it had nice flavors. The veggies were crisp and a variety which I loved. Others got beef moo shu and loved it. And now that I know what might be a good option I'll try veggie moo shu next time. All in all a very fun dining experience and very casual, with a lot of options! I'd go back and try something else next time just to expand my tastebuds!

We told our server what we like and they recommended a couple options. I again can't remember the exact name of the drink but mine was a gin cocktail. I'll attach some photos for you. As for the food, every bite I took was delicious. Our table shared the fried brussel sprouts and the ginger miso salad. A very lovely way to ease into our meal on a lighter note. They split up the salad onto two plates for us, which was sweet of them. The portion was pretty good for a $12 salad. Very refreshing. Brussel sprouts were absolutely fire. Get them! Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. I would order all three of these dishes again in a heartbeat. Perfect for a date night or special occasion, but also works for just grabbing a bite with friends. Whenever I find myself back in Indy, Modita will be on my list.

I would have paid more like $6 for the amount of actual salad I got. The dressing was good, but nothing extraordinary. I did ask for no cucumbers- I could taste a faint taste of cucumbers on the salad, so think they just took them off after they were already placed. We split some Bao Buns. These were the highlight of the show. The pork on them was thick, the slaw was fresh, and the bao bun itself was fluffy. We split two dishes for dinner- the short rib and the chicken udon noodles. The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. Overall, some changes since our last visit that weren't expected, but overall had a great evening here. Can't wait to return.

We did not see anyone waiting either at the hostess stand or outside but rules are rules. Again it could have been worded differently and perhaps it could have been suggested we could finish at the bar (perhaps those are also reserved though) or to one of the empty tables outside. If you want excellent food and great service and you can be finished in 90 minutes I would recommend Bodhi. I also understand turning tables. Just know the timeframe does not allow for dessert (or an appetizer as we did) unless you hurry and you had best be watching the clock or the manager will make it clear you need to leave.

For my main course, I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever had.
