Great food. Deli sandwiches are made to order and fresh. Owner is so nice. All the chefs have worked there for years. Great soup and many choices of sandwiches and drinks. They have a dessert freezer full of goodies. Not fancy just good food. Quick and easy. Nice to get it to go for a picnic etc. But interior is good to eat inside too.

My hiusband has been coming to Berge's since he was a kid. This family owned restaurant had been open since 1971. The restaurant is cute and decorated with nostalgia over the years. Service is counter service and the bring the food to your table. We got our food rather quickly. I had the avocado and turkey sandwich and a side of potato salad. My husband got the grilled roast beef sandwich in sourdough and tomato basil garlic bisque. All were delicious!

Took me awhile to try this spot out. It's a local spot known for their sandwiches and tomato soup. It's actually pretty good. Everything seemed fresh. But nothing really stood out to me.

Classic local favorite sandwich shop with the same comfortable throwback vibe as when it first came to the scene in 1972! I had the honor of having my order taken by the original patriarch at the counter, and she even asked if I needed a receipt. There's a reason Berge's has been around for over 50 years and the food did not disappoint. Enjoyed the classic tuna melt with grilled sour dough and my friend had the roast beef. The tomato bisque was also excellent. Some comfortable seating in a classic weathered venue. A great treat following our Angeles forest hike to the falls.

Found from glowing reviews on yelp so I came here mid visit to Descanso gardens. The shop was super simple, there is parking in the back and the door was open so you don't have to walk around and enter from the front. Toasted pastrami sandwich - So good. They weigh out the pastrami and give it a good sear before throwing it on the sandwich. You get so much more flavour from doing that. The bread was toasted well and every was so good together! Would recommend! Avo roast beef sandwich - Slightly different from their famous avocado turkey sando. Avocado was super refreshing and they had the right amount of mayo to keep the flavours together. Roast beef stuck out a bit, so I would probably go back to the turkey to keep the balance.

Berge's is old-school in the best way. Wood paneling, cozy vibe, nothing fancy.Just solid sandwiches done right. I tried the grilled artichoke sandwich (on what I think was buttery sourdough) and it was crispy, gooey, flavorful, and it even held up after I took it to the park to eat. The grilled artichokes were soft and tasty, the cheese melted just right, and paired with jalapeño chips it was the perfect $10 lunch. What really stood out though was the service. nstead of just calling my name, they walked over and personally handed me my order. A small detail, but honestly you don't see that much anymore and it made the experience feel that much better. Definitely a spot worth stopping into if you're in La Cañada.

Was really looking forward to this place after the positive reviews, unfortunately what I ordered, I was not impressed. Granted, I didn't get what was most recommended, but based off of that sandwich, I probably will not be going back. First of all, the most recommended sandwich is their pastrami, and I happen to get their French dip. I am a sucker for a great French dip, and unfortunately, this would do not live up to my expectations. And when I say it did not meet up to my expectations, I don't mean that I'm being a snob, I mean the "Au Jus" was incredibly salty. I'm sure this was a one off, but unfortunately, I happen to get it. I'm not saying that I would never go back, yelp hasn't let me down. So I would definitely consider going back here again, unfortunately I don't live close to this area so the likelihood of that happening is very slim. Overall, without the dip, the sandwich was really good. Now I wish I would've ordered the pastrami so I could give a better review in my opinion since that's what most people talk about, but unfortunately, I happen to choose this dish and I wish that I chose pastrami instead.

The kind of spot where everything looks a little unpolished, but that's exactly why it works. It's very much a "trust the process" situation here. Inside, you've got shelves of imported cheeses, spreads, and pantry items, plus a surprisingly solid produce section. There is also a deli counter with prepared foods featuring both cold and hot foods. The quality is similar to that of a restaurant, albeit a bit more oily. The parking lot is small but serviceable because customers don't tend to remain in the store for long, so turnover is fairly regular.

Normally when we get Italian Deli Co, we're having people over and buy 5 sandwiches to go. Today,…read morewe were planning to eat in for dinner, but my partner wasn't feeling well. We still wanted Italian, so I offered to go and pick it up. The online menu is sandwiches and piadina only, so I called first to make sure we could get restaurant meals to go. They said yes. I ordered eggplant parmigiana for him and Sauté di Cozze e Vongole for me, as well as a cannoli and a salted caramel dolce freddo to sip while waiting. The drink was delicious and the server, Brooke, was super friendly and helpful (A+, 100%, no notes). I'd had a long week and admittedly was flying on autopilot by then. I paid my tab, got my bag and went to the car. Now I am pretty extra about transporting food safely and without spills, so I put the bag on the front passenger seat and belted it in so it wouldn't tip over. So far, so good. I drove home relishing the delicious garlic smells wafting through the car. I got out and this is where things started going haywire. I walked in the front door and realized the cream sauce on the mussels had just dripped out of the box (not sure why liquid was packaged this way and I will definitely be on alert for this in future!) right through the bag, up the stairs, across the door mat, and all over my shoes (and the flip flops I had been about to put on). Ugh. I have cats who definitely should not be eating garlic, so my husband and I cleaned up the mess after taking photos. I also noticed I had left behind the cannoli And was resigned to calling the restaurant and asking for a refund for the cannoli, at the very least. When I got to the kitchen, I found that basically ALL the sauce had leaked right out of the box (did they not have a deli cup? It's literally a deli). I tried calling twice, but no one picked up. I figured they were busy, as it's the day before a holiday, though it was still pretty early, only about 5 pm. Between the lack of sauce in my dish, the left-behind cannoli, and the mess (thank goodness 90% of the sauce didn't end up in the car upholstery) I decided to just drive back and see what they could do. I am sorry I didn't get their names, but the servers (managers? owners? Apologies, I was SO frazzled. One of them was wearing a green shirt) at the front of house listened to my account, looked at my photos, offered to remake the dish for me, and let me sit at the bar while I waited. I also got my cannoli (perfect). I was offered water or a glass of wine (I declined, I forgot the rest of the dolce freddo at home and was looking forward to finishing it. When my meal arrived, the person in the green shirt told me to be more careful this time and when I expressed trepidation, offered to plastic wrap the box (it was still in a box! Weird but ok) which they did with that good industrial plastic wrap This did the trick by the way. So thank you to the staff at Italian Deli Co. for making it right. I had been looking forward to this meal all week, and though due to the circumstances, I will have to do some reheating at this point, I am really looking forward to our next visit. 1) if I have to order to go I will try not to order liquidy/saucy things 2) if I do order liquidy/saucy things I will ask for the plastic wrap treatment 3) aside from not having the appropriate to go containers for sauce, everything else about this place so far has been excellent, particularly the people and the food. I will be continuing to spent our hard-earned money supporting this local business.

The ambiance is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with both indoor and outdoor seating that creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The mellow Italian music in the background added to the authentic dining experience. The food was exceptional. We ordered the Tagliatelle Polpette, Pollo e Prosciutto, Burrata e Prosciutto, and Salsiccia e Peperonata, and every dish was delicious and expertly prepared. The quality and freshness of the ingredients really stood out. From the fresh arugula and Parmesan cheese to the prosciutto and wine selection, everything tasted high-quality and carefully sourced. The service was friendly, attentive, and fast. A special touch was Chef Lalo coming out to greet us personally, which made the experience even more memorable. The portions were very generous and offered excellent value for the price. We ended up taking food home because there was so much, and every bite was worth it. As for the noise level, there were a few families with children, but everyone was respectful, and the overall atmosphere remained calm and relaxing. It has the usual stuff you'd expect to find in mini markets. But there are hidden gems in the dusty corners like a vintage bottle of Trader Vic's Mai Tai cocktail mix. I didn't check the price but I'm wishing it still had the price tag from 1975 on it. Made me think of the Werewolf of London drinking a Pina Colada and his hair was perfect. Another good find was a dusty bottle of Crème de Menthe. It made me want to look up the recipe for a Grasshopper. I don't know if these old mixer's are for sale or just museum pieces. The sandwiches look pretty good, I'll have to try one another time. Overall the veggie pizza was pretty good, but a bit heavy on the veggies. I generally like fewer toppings, but everyone is different. I suppose in the future I could ask to go light on the toppings. But I'd rather they be generous rather than skimpy.
