I came with my cousins to Bergey's in search of delicious chocolate milk (which I unfortunately didn't get a chance to taste). We were all super hungry, so after walking around for a few minutes, we all ordered sandwiches. I got the turkey bacon sandwich on the dill onion bread with avocado on it, and I really liked it! I split my sandwich with the pork bbq, and that bbq was phenomenal. I loved the flavor and it was delicious with hot sauce as well. We finished off with the ice cream, and it was honestly some of the best ice cream I've had! They make each batch fresh daily, and I was fortunate to get some of the pumpkin ice cream as soon as they made it. It went well with the vanilla ice cream as well. Their miniature horse is grossly underweight and his coat has so much rain rot that it is nearly bald in 30 degree weather and then left with no food. Also majority of the animals are also left with dirty or over turned water. Also no hand sanitizer was provided between animals to prevent from spreading diseases and especially during COVID-19 I don't know how this place hasn't been shut down. read more

Bergey's Breadbasket is as good as it gets. I grew up on a Mennonite farm in Ohio and this place reminds me of my childhood. The tastes and smells are familiar friends. The warm cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing fresh from the oven taste just like the ones a neighbor used to make when I was a kid. The amazing white bread smells and tastes just like the loaves my aunt used to make every week. Cut off a hunk and slather it with real butter then stuff it in your mouth, words cannot describe the deliciousness you will experience. The ice cream, Lord have mercy!!! I had homemade ice cream frequently back home on the farm and it was always an amazing treat but somehow Bergey's is just a little better (please don't tell my father), it's just so smooth and creamy and delicious. The peach ice cream is my favorite but all the flavors are just amazing. If you like pie you've got to try their spectacular homemade pies made fresh daily. They have a pretty good variety of pies but they rotate them so if there's a certain pie you desire just give them a call the day before and they will make it for you. Bergey's is an actual working farm so they grow and sell their own produce which is available for sale. They also have fresh cut flowers in the fall. Bring your children and show them the farm, they can pet the goats and interact with other farm animals. There's more family fun with their annual Easter Egg hunt and a pretty neat corn maze in the fall. If you haven't experienced Bergey's Breadbasket grab your kids and head out to the country on Mt. Pleasant Road. Your family will thank you but be prepared for the kids to keep asking when they can return. read more

This is one of my favorite places for ice-cream and sandwiches. Their egg-salad sandwich is fabulous and you can't beat their shakes with fresh fruit from the farm. It's strawberry season now and the shakes are fabulous! There's only a few tables insides the restaurant, but on a beautiful day you can bring a blanket or use one of their picnic tables outside. They also just put in a new toilet and if you've been to Bergey's before you are glad they did!! :) I almost forgot .... Their milk is AMAZING!! and I love the bottles which you can return for a discount the next time you purchase milk. read more

I love this place! They have their own petting zoo. They make delicious pies, cakes, cinnamon buns, & ice cream. The have amazing ice cream from their own harvested fruits such as strawberries, peaches, and cherries. The make their own quiches & chicken pot pies. The owners are about as friendly as you can imagine. I ordered a BBQ meal with coleslaw and buns and she even gave me an extra pack of buns. We need more places like this. Bergey's has been on my bookmarks list forevs, so when we were FINALLY in the area, I made sure that we stopped by! Walking in, it reminded me of just like an old time-y kind of country store -- random jams/jellies, candies, an assortment of kitchen utensils. Nothing too important. We had a quick lunch of chicken salad sammie for me (decent, not my favorite) and a breakfast biscuit for him (he was not a fan). However, the employees were very friendly and you can tell that they put a lot of love in this establishment. Probably only about 5-6 small tables inside with a picnic table outdoors as well. The clear winners for me were the desserts. I got the homemade peach ice cream which was INSANELY good. So creamy, not too sweet, and it had chunks of sweet peaches throughout. Easily the best peach ice cream I've ever had. BF got the cream cheese cinnamon roll and that was AMAZING. So fluffy.... Go for the dessert, don't look back. Great place, but the food is over-rated. I've had their ice cream, their apple pie (bought a whole one and it wasn't cheap) and their bread. I cook and bake from scratch and am pretty particular about the taste of food. This place is nice, but overpriced considering the taste of what they offer. I sometimes wonder if the 5 star reviews of this place are due to the friendly staff and the fact that it is a farm.... very quaint, but not so great considering what they charge. I probably won't go back due to the place being out of the way for me, otherwise I'd at least bring my 4 yr old back to pet and feed the sheep and goats on the premises. read more

Finally got a chance to visit Bergey's Breadbasket last week and we had a blast. We started off with lunch...my husband and I both ordered chicken salad. I wasn't a big fan of it but he liked it. It's sweeter and has mustard in it, just different than what I'm use to. Of course, we had to get dessert as well. I had the coconut pie and I believe he had chocolate pecan. Their desserts are great. After lunch, we were excited to let our son run around outside and explore the grounds and see all of the animals. There were two sheep roaming around out back. One of the sheep locked eyes with my overly excited toddler and instantly took off in the opposite direction, smart move. We fed the goats and petted the baby pigs. There were also cows and even miniature horses, although they were behind an electric fence. Super neat place and great for the family! read more

The best ice cream around! They always have the standard flavors, vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, but I love their seasonal flavors. Hadn't been back here in over a year so I decided to meat a friend there for a sandwich and catching up on old times. Service: Wonderful people that care more about making you feel at home then they do on making a sale. Food: Sandwiches are good but not much different than what you'd make at home. However, the ice cream and deserts are top-notch! Overall: Good food, great ice cream and deserts served up in joyous atmosphere that brings the kid out in you. Took my daughter to this place today and enjoyed every minute of it. I got a whole sandwich, an apple dumpling and a bottle of water for just over 11 dollars. The drill onion bread was soooooo so so good and the apple dumpling was delicious. I thought it would be a little too big for me to finish, but it was too good to stop eating. It wasnt too sweet and the crust was so flakey and buttery. You have to try them! After our meal, we went around back to the petting farm. Theres not a lot, but the animals are very friendly and fairly clean. We will definitely be coming back soon! read more

Really cool little farm bakery. On my way through the VA beach area I saw a small sign that said Fresh Peach Milkshakes, and couldn't resist. Upon entering the shop I was amazed that this was a full on bakery that also made their own ice cream. Be warned the pies are pretty $$ but looked really good. As for the peach milkshake...Amazing! Fresh peaches and delicious home made ice cream. They also allow you to explore all throughout their farm, and visit all the animals. These are the type places I wish there were more of... what a great little stop! read more

Took the family there to check out the animals and get some lunch. We loved it. They have a couple cows, a pig, several goats, a pony, etc. Then for lunch we were not disappointed. Ice cream shakes and root beer float were awesome. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious as were the sides. And as always, the people were super nice. We also bought a loaf of white bread. Date of Visit: 2/25/17 Saturday approximately 9:20am - We barely beat the rush. This is solely based on the ice cream and the petting zoo! We tried the single scoop of each: oreo ice cream and the blackberry ice cream. Creamy goodness! There is one unisex restroom outdoors in the building to the left. A sign inside says so. A small old school wooden changing table in there. Nothing fancy. Although, they have a motion sensor paper towel dispenser. There is an additional covered eating area out back next to the restroom with about three large round tables. While there is a small kitchen area out there, the sink does not work, or perhaps they hook it up when necessary. Now on to why I was really there! The petting zoo! There were two goats in the front penned area and I honestly thought that was it until someone who at least worked or owned the place instructed us to basically head past the blue silos. It is a free for all there! Now, I was there in theory for my kid's amusement, but seriously I am a die hard animal lover so it was really all about me and some residual experience for my kid! Two fat, full fledged sheep! I have yet to pet sheep so I dug my hand into their fur while both of them scratched their butts on a fence. So excited! Goats: some are tied up, some are loose in a pen that you can go into. There were one-week old babies there at this time. They were soft like little kittens and the mom stood vigil eyeballing everyone while chomping away at some hay. Bunnies: three in pens in the barn area. Two miniature horses ( I think) and a small donkey The horses were having none of it but the donkey was fully about having his head scratched. Cows: Massive black cows who were linked up to some sort of feeding contraption methodically eating hay. I always want to pet cows but these two were intimidating. Our little one threw up some hay to add to their feeding frenzy. One let me pet its head, the other didn't care for my existence. Perhaps I was a little on edge because of the sign posted between their heads that basically says in my paraphrased manner, "If you do something stupid and piss off the cows, whatever happens is on you." Dully noted. I heeded the warning. Chickens are in a pen next to a fat pot bellied pig in the back. It was all dirty hands and heaven! (There are three large hand sanitizer bottles up on a ledge past the silos) The petting zoo runs on donations and there are a few boxes around. Don't be cheap! *Update: Knocked a star for the live mouse in the tank with the snake. Some things are not necessary in public view. I've never seen this display before and a bit underwhelmed that no one had the forethought to take this one out of view during feeding... 6.6.18 read more

My only issue is that I realized that I was overcharged for my cone. I looked at my receipt after stepping away, but the cashier was apparently taking a quick break when I tried to correct my total.
